    The phone slipped from her grasp, falling quickly into the asphalt with such force that she was sure her screen would be cracked, but her eyes lost their focus as the knowledge of her mistake started to settle in her mind.

    She’d wanted to call Emily. She called Will instead.

    She left the line open to let them hear. Will stayed on, too.

    She told Spencer she loved him. Will heard.

    He knew. He and the team all knew.
