Summary
Will didn't deserve this, not at all. He was supposed to be the Sun, warming people with his kindness and mercy, not lying in the damp, cold earth, feeding worms.
"Will... I hope you remember me on the other side, at least sometimes," Mike croaked, burying his face in his knees. "I hope you're happy and loved there, at least..."
To the deafening sound of rain, Mike closed his eyes. Something warm, almost weightless, enveloped his body, allowing him to relax. He took a deep breath, letting the damp air flow straight into his lungs and allowing the terrifying elements to lull him like their natural cradle.
As soon as Mike's eyes met the black slumber, somewhere in the back of his mind he heard rustling sounds coming from the forest, near Castle Byers.

Summary
Will suddenly decided to sit down on the ground, trying not to frighten Mike even more. Finding himself the same height as him, Will purred approvingly, closing the petals on his head. The Demogorgon's thermal image showed that Mike's body temperature had risen.
"Oh, my God... That's insane," Mike breathed, seeing no aggression from the monster. He'd never seen a Demogorgon this close, so he took a small, shaky step forward on trembling knees. "Will, what the hell happened? Can you even talk?"

“Take it off.”
“What?” Mike stuttered out at the sudden request, as they reached Will’s room.
“Your armour. I mean-your chest plate. The broken part at least.” A faint colour rose to Will’s cheeks, and he quickly looked away.
Mike nodded and reached for the armour, trying to pull the chest piece over his head. He immediately regretted it. The pain in his shoulder flared, stopping his arm from lifting properly. The dented metal had made the movement even harder.
“Let me.” A quiet voice escaped Will, who was already by the side of him, fingers gently reaching under the armour. His warm fingers just grazing Mikes skin as he lifted and the tunic rose slightly to reveal the lower part of his stomach. A rush of warm ran through Mike’s body at the touch.

It’s hot in Hawkins. Well, maybe. Mike doesn’t know. He’s too busy nearly 4000km away on the coast of California, celebrating the last week of summer he has with his friends before they return to university. Another thing he doesn’t know is if he can still swim after years of not being in water, or if he’s anywhere near strong enough to resist the riptide his parents warned him about. But what’s a little proving to Max that he’s not a pussy and could go deeper in the water than her? Nothing bad could happen, right?
OR Mike finds out he is in fact not stronger than a riptide and takes advantage of the ‘afterlife’ when it blesses him with a cute boy, even if he is a little… fishy.
