The room buzzed with the hum of reporters, the click of camera shutters, and the occasional cough. Kageyama sat stiffly beside Coach Zanetti, his hands resting calmly on his lap, but his fingers were pressed against each other, betraying his tension. The bright white of his sports jacket felt too heavy, too tight, but he kept his expression neutral, jaw locked.

Kageyama’s felt lonely a hundred times, when his parents leave him alone on another one of their 8 month business trips but their instagrams (the only way he sees them anymore) are filled with pictures of their wondrous vacationed life, when kids leave him out at petty games, when grandpa goes to the hospital, when he spends a night alone and the echoing of music in the empty rooms only furthers the hole in his heart.
And yet somehow none of that compares to the alienation of watching Iwaizumi grab Oikawa’s raised hand, a mere foot away from his face as Oikawa’s is filled with blind, unadulterated, rage.
