Summary
Ellie and Joel have done their time at the hospital. Ellie has produced a cure of sorts. They are finally free to go somewhere that they have been denied for some time - Home.
Though not everything can heal overnight, and Ellie still needs time to adjust. With a weaker immune system, she's bound to be weighed down by sickness at some point. Joel doesn't find it hard to look after her though. Not even when she's feeling littler than her age.

The man’s expression shifted, just slightly, but Joel caught it. A flicker of something behind the eyes. Surprise? Hesitation? Then the stranger’s face settled into something neutral. Polite and controlled.
“Manny,” he said, extending a hand.
Joel reached out to shake it. “Joel. Good to meet you.”
TLDR: Five years later, Joel has to pay the price for defending Ellie.
