The shift at the 118 had been q-word and Buck was getting his wisdom teeth taken out while Eddie was still stuck at work.
Then there was an incoming call from Maddie who was in a fit of uncontrollable laughter. "He’s refusing to leave the office without his husband."
"Husband? Maddie, Buck’s not married. What are you talking about?"
"My husband!" Buck’s voice drifted through the phone - thick, slurred, and unfiltered. "Give me my husband! Where is he?!"
Eddie froze, the world narrowing.
"Buck, honey," Maddie said, "tell me, what’s your husband’s name?"
"Edmundo Diaz!" Buck declared, his voice rising in volume.AKA - Buck gets high when getting his wisdom teeth removed and thinks he and Eddie are married and becomes an emotional mess when he wakes up to find his ‘husband’ not by his side.

Really, it was Lena’s fault. She’d been the one to demand a video when Eddie had finally caved and sent an SOS to the group chat asking if anyone was willing to trade.
“Is anyone interested in trading jerseys with me? Preferably for a smaller size,” Eddie had said because knowing his coworkers, one of them would’ve been a smart ass and gave him an even bigger size. “I ordered an XL because I’m usually a XL but… the way it fits makes me look like I’m fucking one of the players.”

"Can I see it?" The question was out before Eddie realized he’d said it out loud and not just in the privacy of his own head.
Buck flashed a wide grin that made Eddie’s stomach do a complete backflip.
"Man, it’s so cool." Buck already had his phone out, typing something into a search bar before turning the screen towards Eddie. It was a TikTok video. Of an octopus changing colors. "And it’s wild how they can mimic textures like that! Insane!"
"Your pe..-piercing." It wasn't Buck’s dick he wanted to see... obviously. "Can I see your... uh... piercing?" Eddie felt his stomach do a literal nose-dive as he mentally cursed the disaster that was his life.
Buck just stared at Eddie. His mouth was hanging slightly open, phone still in hand, the octopus video looping over and over.
