“It’s illegal to hunt animals,” Seonghwa explained softly, eyes flicking over to where Hongjoong was now glaring distastefully at their cottage as a whole. “We get allotted rations from the city on a weekly basis.”
“You aren’t allowed to hunt?” Mingi asked. “Like— at all? What if something happens to your blood supply?”
Yeosang shrugged. “We starve,” he deadpanned.
“Vampires are ruthless, bloodthirsty monsters,” Hongjoong bit out. “The only way they’re allowed to hunt is if they’re a part of a pack because they need to be kept in check. I can’t imagine what sort of delusional pack would want the burden of bloodsuckers though.”
OR
Seonghwa will do anything to keep his fledglings safe. Anything. Hongjoong's top priority has always been and will always be the safety and well-being of his packmates.
They learn they're not as dissimilar as they once believed themselves to be. And they could perhaps be more if they allow themselves to trust one another.

Summary
If a cup is broken, can it be fixed?
Suppose you gather every last shard. You spend countless patient hours fitting them back together. You fill the cracks not with invisible glue, but with liquid gold – the ancient art of kintsugi. You do not hide the breaks. You illuminate them. The mended cup is now more beautiful for having been broken.
But what then? Can it still hold scalding tea? Will it bear the heat, or will the golden seams betray it? Is it stronger at the breaks, or forever more fragile?
And is the time, the pain, the hope poured into its repair worth the risk of it shattering once more? Because cups are fragile.
Hearts are, too. Are his mates worthy of being trusted with his heart a second time? And has he learned the most devastating lesson of all – that sometimes, to survive, you must learn how to hold yourself?

Hyunjin was just now realizing as he watched the silver-haired Adonis laugh and make jokes that he wasn’t a trimmed and landscaped garden anymore. He was as real and authentically beautiful as the wildflowers now. He’d bloomed before Hyunjin’s eyes into something gorgeous, something precious, someone that Hyunjin couldn’t live without. Someone Hyunjin loved.
