Summary
(A rewrite of my own orphaned story 'The ballad of an orphaned lamb') I am currently reworking it, so chapters, characters and events will be different from the previously 14 chapters published.
Lily and James Potter are dead. Alice and Frank Longbottom have disappeared. Sirius Black has killed Peter Pettigrew and twelve Muggles after betraying the Potters to Voldemort. With these events having happened in a matter of two days, Albus Dumbledore gives Harry's only living blood relative a decision to make. Either take the boy or let us care for him.
Afraid of what could happen to Harry in the aftermath of Voldemort's disappearance and with Petunia refusing to take him in, Dumbledore decides to have him grow up in an isolated wizarding village in Romania, at least until he will receive his Hogwarts letter.

Summary
After the Basilisk's attack, and with Sirius Black on the loose, Dumbledore must make a decision.
To have Dementors roaming Hogwarts, further risking the students' wellbeing, or to move their location temporarily? During the Welcoming Feast, students find out that the decision made was for Durmstrang to 'host' Hogwarts and its students until Sirius Black would be caught.
To most, Dumbledore seems oddly blase in his decision to have a former Death Eater so close to his students, considering another Death Eater has just broken out of Azkaban. Slowly, all pieces of the puzzle will be revealed, and the past will soon simmer and overflow into the present.

Only to find that with Alphard Black as an uncle, his punishment is in fact not only a welcome respite from his immediate family, and not only a chance to deepen his knowledge of Muggles, but the start of him realising what it means to grow up, and the sometimes complicated feelings arising with leaving boyhood behind.
