Summary
At the Hawkins Ball, Cressida watches as Penelope dances with Lord Debling. Crushed to have such an eligible suitor taken from her when she was so close to claiming him in front of the Ton, Cressida notices a certain Bridgerton seems equally as dismayed by the new couple. Desperate to ensure a proposal to someone not her father's age, she ends up entrapping Colin.
However, life as a Bridgerton turns out not to be the fairy tale she envisioned. Her husband hates her and the Ton knows he is sleeping with everyone but her. When the late Lord Debling's brother plots against the widowed and pregnant Penelope, Cressida decides to help him, but both ladies end up dying.

She is going to choose five untitled sons to participate in a competition to win the title and estate of the recently deceased lord. With the help of their wife or betrothed, they will compete to win. But what happens if a chosen untitled son has not yet found his bride-to-be?
