Summary
Grace did, at some point, learn more about Eridian reproduction systems beyond the brief overview Rocky gave him when they first met. Eridians used to bury their eggs to improve the success of healthy hatchlings. Lower in the ground in its cave systems, Erid’s temperature decreases to a cool 130-150 degrees Fahrenheit. However, with modern technology, Eridians can improve the life expectancy of their young even further by securing the eggs inside incubation machines that cool them down to 95-100 degrees Fahrenheit.
It was super interesting to learn about all of this, and of course he chimed in, “that’s basically my temperature, you know?” But the scientist he was talking to already knew this. They got excited that Grace made the connection anyway.
"Yes, you would be a perfect incubator for Eridian eggs. There wouldn’t be any instinctual fear about predators stealing the eggs, if they were safe inside you."
Huh?

Summary
They won’t shut up about why he wears the mask.
This isn't anything new. You've heard it all before.
Maybe, then, it's the rookie inside of you still burning to be included, to be acknowledged, accepted, that makes you flick your mic on with a single press of your stupid little finger. Makes you open your stupid little mouth, and say:
"You're all wrong, boys; he's just keeping my seat warm."
(a joke at your lieutenant's expense has unexpected consequences.)

Summary
Heady. Masculine. The scent of him is unlike anything you've ever smelled before. Equal parts comfort and safety (palo santo, sun-scorched sand; tobacco and dark, aged whiskey; rotting paper—lignin, furfural—and a damp, old basement in a house you don't remember but could never forget) and fear (stagnant water, kelp: like rotting wood pulled from from the deep sea; fire, smoke; sulphur; something rotten—cadaverine, putrescine—and sweat). The sharp dichotomy is dizzying. Paralyzing.
He pulls you in closer. his breath carries the smell of the ocean: the seafloor. His mouth splits into a grin. "Don't worry, sweetheart; nothin' is gonna hurt you—"
is what he says, but what you hear is: except me.

Summary
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
- "Anthem" by Leonard Cohen---
Heisenberg flashes his teeth, starting to speak, but you talk over him. "I agreed to your game, and I'm not going back on my word."
Heisenberg's lips pause barely parted. He watches you, chin tilting down - a clue that behind the sunglasses, he's looking you up and down.
He leans forward slightly, his weight pressing into the soles of his boots. Gunmetal grey hair swaying. "We both know," he says your name in a low, gravelly pitch, "this is no longer a game."
