Summary
In the absence of sight, the physical means less than it used to. His other senses tell him what he needs to know of the world. Take Gladio, for instance. The months of darkness have dulled Ignis’s memory of his face. The harder he tries to summon the image to his mind, the more indistinct it becomes, like trying to make out one’s features in a fogged-up mirror.
Sometimes Ignis forgets the details. Gladio helps him remember.

Summary
“Listen to me, Gladio. Before all this, I had a career. I had duties. I was needed. Now I have nothing.”
“Nothing? You have your life. You have me and Prompto, and Talcott and Iris. You have a family. Ain’t that enough?”
Ignis wishes he could live his life for Gladio alone. He wishes he could be content to read with him on the couch and fall asleep in his arms and wake him in the morning with a kiss. But his life belongs to Noct, and it will until his dying day. That’s how it’s been since he was a boy. That’s how it always shall be.
In the long dark, tensions that have been simmering between Ignis and Gladio come to a head. And this time, love may not be enough to save them.

Summary
“Iggy, listen…” Gladio looks across the table at him, and that familiar longing washes over him. “I made a huge mistake.”
“A mistake?” Ignis repeats.
“When I walked out seven years ago.” Gladio hesitates before he adds: “I still wanna be with you.”
Ignis sighs and sets his fork down. “Gladio—”
After seven years of separation, and after they've saved the world, Gladio finds his way back into Ignis's arms.

Summary
Gladio sighs. “Look, I didn’t want you to find out like this. I was gonna tell you eventually. I had a whole thing planned out—dinner, wine, some roses, the whole nine yards—but I was waiting until I’d made sixty thousand gil. That would’ve been enough.”
Ignis thumbs the roll of bills, frowning. “Enough for what, Gladio?”
Next to him, Gladio sucks in a deep breath, then blows it out evenly. “I’ve been in touch with a surgeon in Altissia. An eye surgeon.”
“An eye surgeon?” Ignis repeats, dumbfounded.
As Ignis tries to keep his fledgling restaurant afloat, Gladio finds a way to restore Ignis's sight.

Summary
“We all must die, Gladio,” Ignis says softly. “We don’t get to choose when.”
“Not you. Not now.” Gladio would do anything, give anything, to buy them just one more day together. “Not like this.”
“I’ve lived a good life.”
Gladio pulls his hands away. “A good life? You’re only forty-seven.”
“And Noct only lived to see thirty,” Ignis says, smiling wryly. “By that metric, I’m downright fortunate.”
Every love story must come to an end. And some endings come sooner than we expect. Gladio learns this the hard way.

Summary
Prompto asks, “Soooo…how are you feeling?”
Ignis raises an eyebrow at Prompto’s reflection. “Happy, though your tone makes me wonder if I shouldn’t be apprehensive instead.”
“Nah,” Prompto says. “It’s just, sometimes people get the jitters on the big day, you know?” He pauses and looks at Ignis pointedly. “Do you have jitters?”
Ignis takes a deep breath and holds it for a moment before blowing it back out in a gust. “Well, in a matter of twenty minutes, I’ll be standing in front of everyone I know as I publicly affirm the depth of my feelings for Gladio.” He pauses. “Yes, I’d say I have a few jitters.”
An epilogue to The Lights of Lestallum. Ignis and Gladio make it official.
