    Thanks for the update. I see your point. So then my friend's best chance of receiving an AO3 invitation is to add her email address to the queue? I told her I'd let her know.

      She should definitely go ahead and request an invitation! However, there are a few opportunities to receive an invitation sooner. On our Tumblr account (http://transformativeworks.tumblr.com/) during the Fandom First Friday events, some AO3 invitations are given away each month. There are also sometimes other opportunities announced through OTW News. There will be one at the start of December to solicit contributions for our Events Calendar, so following the news through one of our various outlets (http://transformativeworks.org/about/where-find-us) is a good idea.
