“Potter! Why weren’t you downstairs with the others? Are you alright?” McGonagal flew over to him and looked him over carefully, and he shot up his eyebrows.
“I noticed in my first year and last year I have shi- awful luck on Halloween and hoped being in my dorm would offset it.” He asked honestly, and let his face crumble with the disappointment he had felt at that failing and Sirius Black looming over Ron’s bed when he’d stepped out. “Didn’t work, did it?”
“Is that why you had wards up on the room?” Professor Snape leveled a look at him, lips in a tight line as he looked over the room.
“Yes, sir… I was figuring out how I was going to key it specifically to Ron, Seamus, Neville and Dean. I know this is our room anyways but… I’m so sick of weird Halloweens.” Mixing truth and lie worked most of the time as he groaned it out. “What happened??”
“You were very lucky to have those wards in place, Mr. Potter… the portrait was torn up that guards the room and the dear said it was Sirius Black. If that man had had a wand…” She sighed as she drew him in for a tight hug.

Harry Potter just wished for a quiet year, but that wish ends when his name comes out of the Goblet of Fire. As for the fourth year in a row, the students of Hogwarts turn against him, Harry decides he has had enough. With his Muggleborn best friend, a slightly mad House Elf, his beloved owl, and a Godfather as his only allies (at first) he is going to show everyone that he is no longer someone to be pushed around anymore

Summary
After six years of working as an auror with no change in sight, Harry is tired. It isn't what he thought it would be and he doesn't feel like he is making a difference. So he leaves. He lives in the muggle world for five years.
When he receives a patronus from Hermione telling him that something has happened and he needs to come home he isn't sure what to expect. What he finds is that Sirius has returned form the veil. Thought dead for fifteen years. He finds that his friends have moved on with lives and children of their own. He finds love in the most unexpected of places. He finds that with them is where he was meant to be. He only needed time to see it.
"The things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect."
