With the HonMoon reinforced, the Huntrix girls believed the worst was behind them. They work blissfully on their music, and Rumi is gradually growing more comfortable in her patterns. Everything feels- well, right.
So…
They didn’t notice the subtle shifts in the shadows.
They barely noticed the odd chills in the night.
They couldn’t help but notice the whispers in the dark.
They wouldn’t forget the figure covered in black. His eyes never blinking.Mira had never felt fear like this before, Zoey had never felt so small and Rumi had never been so shattered.
Gwi-ma was nothing- no, he was less than nothing compared to this. If they had known something like this existed, they would have NEVER considered becoming hunters.

Rumi had always been sensitive. At first, she thought it had to do with being half demon, then she realised that demons didn't run from conversation. Or hide from crowds. Or seek out quiet hidey-holes like dark creepy costume closets.
She liked the interviews where she got to talk about herself - being watched would suffocate her.
She loved the fans, who adored her music - the noise made her ears ache.
She was okay with the occasional, fleeting touch of Mira's fingers handing her the mic, the light squeeze of Zoey's hand in hers - she hated that she didn't always want more.

Mira grumbled in frustration as she attempted to start what would be Huntrix's first-ever livestream on Instagram.
"Do you need any help with that? It seems like you do!"
Zoey snickered as she took a seat next to the puzzled woman, turning to her with a smile as she held her hand out to assist in starting the live.

Summary
This is what happened: years ago, Mira and Zoey had someone, and then they lost her.
It happens, sometimes.
People disappear.
But years ago, Mira and Zoey had someone, and then they lost her. Then, they thought that they might have found her again – because Rumi was everything they once had, because she was the third hunter, because her soul was bound to theirs like they were to each other.
They never asked, in the end.
What had happened that made the other woman slip away like she did.
But it never did feel completely right, after, despite everything. Because Rumi was there but she also wasn’t, because she laughed and joked with them but never quite fully, because she would lean into their touch sometimes and then shrink away from it the next moment. Because she had walls all around her, and rarely, if ever, took them down.
Rumi had always been scared of something.

(Or: the bond between the hunters tells them of each others emotions, each others pain. Rumi, naturally, decides that her sins are hers alone to carry, that she cannot burden the other two with them. But such secrets rarely stay hidden.)
