Work Text:

He fell against a massive speaker on his way down, still not quite understanding what had just happened. He had stood staring contemplatively out at the crowd, waiting for his time to sing again, when suddenly there were several pops, like firecrackers. Dominic felt something slam into his torso, followed by another immediately after, and then another. He fell on his back, feeling the reverberation of the thuds, and was immediately engulfed in an overwhelming shroud of pain. His breath was suddenly restricted, and after landing on his back he lay panting like a dog, unable to understand what had happened, trying to regain his breath. He heard more pops, and screams, and he let his heavy eyelids droop. He was so tired all of a sudden, so bone tired. He felt hands grabbing at him; his pants, his arms, his legs. He could hear other people panting for breath as they passed him back to safety, out of the line of fire. The world was fading in and out, and voices around him sounded echoey and far away. Pain assaulted his senses and he coughed, feeling wetness on his lips. What had happened?

So tired.

It was unlike him to be so tired.

“Whuh ’appened?” he managed in a weak voice.

“Stay still Dommie; you’re fuckin’ shot mate!” Adam’s normally calm voice, now tinged with hysteria, reached his eardrums and, finally, his brain. Shot?? He was just performing!

Dom brought his hands to his chest and moaned as quietly as he could. The pain was intense. He was still having trouble understanding what had happened.

He could hear screams, far away. A rattling sound, followed by more screams. Desperately, he clung to consciousness.

What was happening?

Notes:

Sorry. I love violence, ha. Sorry Dom. Old one shot from a year or so ago.
