Chapter Text
Yo.” Kagura dropped down from her feather, landing on the ground with a thump.
“This woman keeps showing up around Lord Sesshomaru,” Jaken bristled, banging his two headed staff roughly against the ground in protest before listening to the two’s conversation that had started without his consent.
“Sesshomaru, you know of the western border — it’s been hit again, as well as the one near the northern border. It seems they’ve teamed up. By the looks of it, they plan on distracting you with this while sending others to reach your palace.”
Kagura moved her fan to cover her mouth. Her eyes, though seemingly playful, held calculation — as if she were studying a project.
Before continuing, she added, “You know as well as I do, if you don’t act soon, they may go after Inuyasha, believing he would draw you out.”
Jaken turned, looking at his lord. Sesshomaru’s expression hadn’t changed, but Jaken noticed a slight crease in his brow before he finally spoke.
“Kagura, is there more this Sesshomaru needs to know? Or do you plan on keeping more from me in order to control this Sesshomaru?” Though it was phrased like a question, Jaken knew it was a statement.
To this, Kagura tilted her head before revealing a small smirk.
“Control? You?” She stepped closer, a finger now under his chin, her voice dipping into something almost in a teasing manner. “Why, I have no intention of that. I just want to help… like I used to do with Naraku.”
Jaken swore for a second he saw Sesshomaru lean into the touch before backing away.
“I see,” Sesshomaru stated.
Kagura’s smirk seemed to grow almost into a smile as she again stepped forward, this time not at all hiding her intentions.
“Why, Sesshomaru, don’t tell me after these years you’ve grown tired of me.”
At this, Jaken sprung. “Of course he has!”
This seemed to not affect the two, whose eyes never broke from one another’s.
Letting out a small laugh, Kagura sighed out, “Still playing hard to get, hm? Fine, I’m off.” Jumping on her feather, she left, not turning back.
All the while, Sesshomaru’s eyes did not leave her — not even when she was out of sight.
