Appearance - Pankuro is a boy in his late teens with a mesh of Fuyurian and Japanese features. Pankuro has a large mass of thick, curly, messy hair on top of his head, giving him a perpetual bedhead look that has, in most cases, only endeared him to those of the opposite sex. Pankuro resorts to wearing headbands to keep the stray strands from falling into his eyes instead of just cutting them. His hair is styled in a temp-fade with intricate, Japanese Kanji characters etched into the low-cut hair on the sides and back of his head.

Pankuro has thick yet seemingly perfectly sculpted eyebrows, the left of which has a vertical slit through it, the hairs stubbornly refusing to grow back. He has double lashes, a rare and often harmful trait in Humans that's standard among Halfbreeds and gives them a distinguished, naturally alluring look. His ears end in small, unnatural points, similar to those of an elf. His face is perfectly proportionate, with taut cheeks and a sharp jaw. His eyes have a pronounced, feline shape to them, his pupils are vertically slit and adapt to the lack or presence of lighting, and his teeth are sharper and thicker than a Purebred Human. His lips are full and wonderfully shaped, with a beauty mark residing on the lower left side.

Pankuro is in peak physical shape for his age, and although his defined musculature is better suited to explosive speed, endurance, stealth, and flexibility, his raw strength is nothing to scoff at thanks to his Fuyurian genes. Due to Pankuro’s biracial heritage, he retained his father's darker complexion.

Outfits

  • Combat
  • Ceremonial
  • Loungewear
  • Fall/Winter
  • Spring/Summer

Combat Attire

  • Head - An advanced, purple and black, metallic headband, the elastic band wrapping around his head in a silverish-gray color.
  • Face - A black and purple men-yoroi mask with a black panther design; the fangs of the mask are a sterling silver color.
  • Ears - A silver 4-claw hook earring in his left ear.
  • Neck - A silver necklace with a black panther's head as the embellishment, the eyes made of citrine gemstones.
  • Body - A high-collared, hooded purple, black, and silver jacket with a triangular geometric pattern, which on the back displays a vortex that incorporates all colors.
  • Arms - Woven into the fabric of his jacket are silver gauntlets used for deflecting bullets and parrying blades or claws.
  • Wrist - Omni-Wear electronic device.
  • Hands - A pair of hard-knuckled, advanced black combat gloves that have a purple trim around the cuffs, which match the knuckle part of the glove.
  • Waist - A black, Advanced Tactical Carrier, which only has the magnetic waist pack and utility belt features.
  • Legs - Black tobi pants that are baggy around the thighs, down to the knees, where the top of the silver knee and shin guards are woven into the material; the dark cloth around his knees down to his ankles hugging him like a second skin.
  • Feet - A pair of advanced, black and silver, clever combination of military combat boots and traditional Shinobi combat sandals, which leave the top of his toes and the back of his heels fully visible. The footwear has a "full coverage" feature, the ultra-light metal over the bridge of his foot, and his Achilles tendon sliding down and locking into place before he enters "unsavory" areas like sewer systems.

Ceremonial: For ceremonial occasions in Hayashiko Village or when assisting Saianya tutor junior blades, he adopts a more disciplined, elegant silhouette.

  • Head - A formal version of his metallic headband—black with a polished silver plate featuring the Phantom Blade emblem.
  • Body - A high-quality bicolor (black and purple) yukata featuring subtle silver star patterns.
  • Feet - Traditional wooden geta with black tabi socks.
  • Other - A wide silver sash tied in a precise traditional knot.

Loungewear: Pankuro’s favorite way to spend a day of napping and reading involves maximum comfort.

  • Hair: This is the look where his perpetual bedhead is most prominent, as it is usually left without a headband to keep it under control.
  • Legs: Black oversized sweatshorts with purple-tipped drawstrings.

Fall/Winter: For colder months, during undercover missions for F.E.A.R.S., he still leans into a Night Prowler aesthetic that is less intimidating than his armor but still mysterious.

  • Body: A thin, black tank top.
  • Outerwear: A thick, unzipped black and gray parka with silver hardware. Underneath, he often wears a black hoodie with a skeletal graphic along the sleeves, and during the fall, it's his only layer.
  • Legs: Dark indigo denim jeans with tactical knee pockets.
  • Footwear: Rugged black boots with silver buckles or black-and-purple high-top sneakers.
  • Other: His silver black panther necklace often serves as a pants chain clipped to his belt loop for this look.

Spring/Summer Streetwear: When wandering the major cities of Japan as a civilian, which isn't often, as Halfbreeds aren't allowed such liberties, Pankuro opts for a look that is stylish yet functional for his high-speed agility.

  • Body: A simple white tee with a black Japanese Kanji character over his left pectoral.
  • Outerwear: An open-front, lightweight black and purple haori featuring a prowling panther design on the back under a starlit sky.
  • Legs: A shorts version of his trademark baggy tobi pants with silver and purple accents.
  • Footwear: Leather shinobi-style sandals in purple and black, designed for casual walking rather than heavy, intense combat.

Combat Equipment

  • Advanced Medi-Kit - A large, square-shaped case mounted directly on the back of his Advanced Tactical Carrier (ATC). It is a highly portable first-aid kit stocked with the necessary medical tech to treat everything from minor flesh wounds to life-threatening trauma on the fly.
  • Explosive Glitter - Stored in sleek, cylinder-shaped canisters on the left side of his Advanced Tactical Carrier. True to his artistic hobbies, Pankuro utilizes non-lethal, highly dazzling, explosive glitter. It temporarily blinds enemies and contains metallic particulates that short-circuit nearby electronics.
  • Omni-Wear - An advanced, wrist-mounted electronic device. The universal standard for high-tech communication in the late twentieth century. Pankuro uses it for encrypted communication with F.E.A.R.S., tactical research, field investigation, and occasionally streaming music or other visual media during his off-hours.
  • Smoke Bombs - Compact, spherical canisters mounted on the right side of his Advanced Tactical Carrier. As a master of shadows, Pankuro uses these to instantly generate cover. The dense smoke creates the dark silhouettes he needs to close the distance on an enemy or vanish completely in broad daylight.

Shadow Armaments - Solid constructs created from literal shadows he siphons, which he uses in combat to extend his reach or land fatal or grievous blows.

  • Appendages - Four heavy-plated, spider-like limbs materialize from his back. He uses them to stab and slash for crowd control, parry heavy incoming attacks, or combine them into a single, massive strike to launch large targets.
  • Claws - Six-inch sharp claws extend from his fingertips for rapid stabs and slashes. He can also expand them into a single massive, bestial claw to grab aerial targets to crush or throw, or sweep through crowds of enemies on foot.
  • Familiars - Using his Eidetic Memory, Pankuro creates autonomous shadow summons based on real animals he has observed. He optimizes their natural attack patterns for lethal combat, calling upon:
    • A Panther for stealth and swift ambushes.
    • A Raven or Bat Swarm for distraction and blinding maneuvers.
    • A Silverback Gorilla for crushing, high-impact force grappling.
    • A Rhinoceros for unstoppable forward charges.
  • Kunai - Throwing projectiles formed from solid shadows. Pankuro often laces them with a microdose of his Virulent Seed, causing immediate, severe illness to easily incapacitate his enemies.
  • Scythe Edge - A lethal scythe's blade materializes from the heel of his outstretched leg, turning a standard spinning heel kick into a devastating cutting attack.
  • Senpai - A silhouette of a woman with pulsing veins of silver electricity. She takes on a unique support role, absorbing any excess Virulence from his Shadow Armaments that would otherwise harm the atmosphere or his comrades. For offense, she has a plethora of electric-based ranged attacks to lock down particularly powerful or quick targets. Unlike his familiars, Senpai is an actual person who lost her physical Human form when she sacrificed herself to save her subordinates.
  • Spike - Sharp spikes that can either extend directly from his palm during a palm-strike for close-quarters impalement, or erupt directly out of the environment's shadows to instantly kill enemies he knocks its range.
  • Stinger - A massive scorpion's stinger emerges from his back. This construct is always infused with a heavy dosage of his Virulent Seed, allowing him to completely dissolve and devour a target down to nothing. This is ultimately his safest way to contain the Virulent Seed when its hunger and desire overwhelm him, the vessel, for a brief period, as a stinger is easier to control than raw Virulence.
  • Swords - Depending on his distance from the target, Pankuro forms solid shadow versions of traditional Japanese blades—a KatanaWakizashi, or long-reaching Odachi—for ultra-precise cutting.
  • Wings - Four raptorial shadow wings emerge, tipped with three avian talons and lined with spikes. While excellent for crowd control slashing, they are primarily used for gliding, dashing, blocking, and parrying. Pankuro can step into a spin and summon a single wing to knock aside shields or daze opponents, even if they are several times larger than him.

Biography - Pankuro was born in the remote Hayashiko region of Japan, where he was raised within a hidden, tightly-guarded village that served as the secret headquarters of the Phantom Blades, a clandestine martial organization. As the offspring of a human mother, Kiyomi, and a Fuyurian father, he inherited both his father’s striking feline features and his unique supernatural potential. Kiyomi died shortly after giving birth to him, leaving him an orphan; his father had been absent from his life from the very beginning. All villagers of Hayashiko are rigorously trained in martial arts, blade handling, archery, and supernatural perception, and Pankuro's upbringing was no exception. Due to his unusual appearance, he was often the target of teasing by peers during childhood, though he later learned their remarks stemmed from envy of his exceptional combat skills and the attention he naturally attracted. The girls, meanwhile, felt conflicted about their interest in him because of his distinctive looks.

Throughout his intense training, Pankuro befriended Saianya and Turome, two other trainees with diverse backgrounds who could empathize with his experience as a Halfbreed living among humans. His natural talent and athleticism quickly allowed him to surpass most of his peers and even some senior students. Eventually, a mentor revealed to him that his father was a founding member of the Phantom Blades, and soon after, he received approval from the Hayashiko Triumvirate (Elders) to undertake his first mission at the remarkably young age of nine. Pankuro completed his objective with ease, and the Elders and teachers unanimously recognized him as exceptional, deciding to treat him accordingly.

Advancing several years ahead of his original class, Pankuro joined an elite team of senior Phantoms, earning the nickname "Phantom Beast" for his fierce hand-to-hand combat style, which showcased his predatory instincts inherited from his Fuyurian lineage. By age twelve, Pankuro had an epiphany about the society he was sworn to protect, understanding the cruelty they inflicted upon each other and the systemic discrimination against Halfbreeds like himself perpetuated by oppressive governmental structures. Outraged and disillusioned, he vowed to focus not on hunting Fuyurian Battle Summons on Earth, but on fighting the corrupt individuals and organizations profiting from societal suffering—from street thugs to influential elites.

Over the next three years, Pankuro operated covertly across Japan's major cities as the Night Prowler, dismantling gangs, confronting corrupt law enforcement officers, assassins, cyborg mercenaries, and genetically engineered beings. Although he endured great hardship as a lone teenage vigilante and defeated many lethal enemies, he was eventually overwhelmed by the capabilities of the Planetary Defense Corp's Silver Lining — an advanced, engineered Mixbreed whose strength and conviction surpassed his own in that pivotal moment. Rather than kill him, the United Nations deemed Pankuro more valuable alive as an expendable agent of humanity, a disposable Fury recognized globally.

By sixteen, Pankuro had become a respected team leader within the Fury Platoon. He led missions to track and eliminate formidable Fuyurian Battle Summons, gaining admiration among his peers. For Pankuro, being a Fury resembled his role as a Phantom Blade, yet he felt more at home among his own kind, despite the disturbing nature of their duties. During this period, he successfully persuaded several Furies out of desertion, aware that the Cyber Soldier Initiative's Hunters would pursue them, and vowed to forge a better future for their kind. He also began experimenting with his Virulent Seed Birthright, channeling its power to create more than just noxious constructs, confronting opponents far more dangerous than himself.

Two years later, still serving as a Fury, Pankuro was approached by a former member of the Phantom Blades who informed him of the organization’s true identity—the First Encounter Advanced Response Section—and how they could leverage his expertise. Recognizing the strange global phenomena occurring, Pankuro agreed to become a Special Agent of F.E.A.R.S., viewing it as an opportunity to confront those responsible for recent chaos and to challenge the United Nations’ inhumane treatment of Halfbreeds.

Personality - Pankuro initially gives the impression of an easygoing and playful slacker, someone who seems primarily interested in catching his next nap or reading his lewd novels, even if it cuts into his training hours. Despite this exterior, he is deeply intuitive and possesses a surprising wisdom, capable of gauging people's moods accurately and offering helpful advice to those struggling in everyday life. Pankuro exhibits deep compassion and a gentle nature, which starkly contrast with his fearsome reputation as a Halfbreed warrior, whose formidable physical feats can unsettle even the most seasoned soldiers. Arguably, from a female perspective, Pankuro's most charming traits are his artistic and romantic depth—his poetic sensibility, his love for music and painting, combined with his approachable appearance, gentle demeanor, and capacity for violence—making him a natural heartthrob among many. However, his collection of lewd books often lands him in trouble with potential romantic partners, as they are seen as perverted or inappropriate.

As the latest inheritor of the Virulent Seed Birthright—a dangerous, gluttonous power capable of consuming stars, celestial bodies, and entire worlds—Pankuro remains haunted by fears of his own potential and true nature. The Virulent Seed acts like a ticking time bomb, demanding that its host either feed it or find a way to suppress it, lest they succumb to its consuming power, which was never meant to be wielded at the host's leisure. His understanding of the Seed’s dangers causes deep-seated sadness, though he masks this pain behind a composed exterior. Deep inside, he longs to escape this dark reality, which is partly why he finds solace in reading lewd novels: the characters within are free to express themselves openly—something he cannot do because of the inherent risk he poses to anyone he might love. Pankuro is often overly trusting of women, especially due to his zealous efforts to dismantle the Aphrodite Trafficking Network, a naivety that sometimes leads to mockery or setbacks.

It is well-known that Pankuro resents his father for passing down the Virulent Seed, and he feels contempt towards his mother for choosing his father as a mate. He views his own existence as a curse he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy. Pankuro also harbors intense hatred for Fuyurians, blaming the Yasasian High Court for exiling his ancestors—an exile that he believes is the root cause of his suffering and the presence of the Seed within him. His animosity toward Fuyurians is so visceral that he abandons his usual non-lethal approach in combat when facing them; instead, he fights with relentless intensity, perhaps fueled by the recognition of how powerful Purebred Fuyurians are as members of a galactic powerhouse of predators.

Despite his fearsome nature, Pankuro has a peculiar vanity. He often fusses over hair and skin-care products and emphasizes foot care when talking to his male friends or associates. During lighter moments, he becomes easily flustered when others mention Saianya's attachment to him or discuss any girl who is aggressively pursuing him. He also often catches flak for allegedly “thirst-trapping" female associates in professional environments—an accusation he vehemently denies, insisting he isn't doing it on purpose.

Relationships

  • Alonzeus - His peer and "friendly" rival in terms of physical ability, as he is a fellow Halfbreed, but of a different lineage. They don't interact much because, as Halfbreeds with the blood of galactic predators running through their veins, they can hardly stand being around one another without wanting to trade blows or worse, and with his Birthright's instability, the Elders and teachers wisely keep them far apart, with Veteran Phantom Blades always on the lookout to make sure neither of them acts on the urge to be the only apex predator left standing in the village. On the galactic scale side of things, Raitarians, a reptilian Warrior Race, are regarded as more senseless in their savagery than Fuyurians, killing in mass for the sake of it.
  • Chiyo (Elder/Oracle) - Out of the Hayashiko Triumvirate, he was the closest to her during his early years, as she is the head spiritual guide and medical overseer, but after he became the Night Prowler, he grew further apart from her. Pankuro still hasn't forgotten how she kept him under constant surveillance and tried to keep him from leaving the Hayashiko, even after Goro and Hiroshi gave him their blessing.
  • Goro (Elder/Iron Will) - An influential figure in his life, even to this day, due to the man always finding new ways to entice Pankuro's repressed Fuyurian nature, which desires the thrill of the hunt if he goes too long without a good fight. Goro is the one who gives Pankuro leads on where the toughest fights are, whether it be a Battle Summon, a Grandmaster of hand-to-hand combat in a distant land, or violent Halfbreed Prides running amok in some city.
  • Hiroshi (Elder/Diplomat) - Even in the present day, Pankuro tries his best to avoid the morally flexible man, though for a different reason than when he was a child. In the past, it was out of discomfort, but nowadays, he just can't be bothered to deal with someone who always wants to prod at him after hearing of his newly developed psychic abilities.
  • Jorome - As a child, Pankuro knew of him but never had any interactions with the Senior Phantom Blade, who always seemed to be in a bad mood. Years later, the older man, now the Director of an organization they personally founded, approached him with an offer he couldn't refuse. As the only employer he actually trusts, Pankuro not only has a great deal of respect for Jorome but also trusts him wholeheartedly because of how seriously they take integrating Halfbreeds into global defense, rather than treating them as animals to be used as weapons.
  • Kento - His adoptive father, who was the teacher who gave him insight into his father's role in establishing the Phantom Blades, which was the driving force he needed as a child to carve his own path. Pankuro is eternally grateful for Kento's historical expertise, often turning to him for information about his Black Pardus lineage and the Fuyurian Empire to better understand his limits and the enemy.
  • Kiyomi - His mother, also known among the Elders and Veteran Phantoms as the Prime Virulent Carrier. He views his mother's memory with a mix of resentment and longing.
  • Nairobi - The unattainable crush in his life who represents the warmth and maternal love he lost when his mother, Kiyomi, died during his birth. This makes his "crush" a confusing mix of genuine admiration, attraction to her confidence, and a deep-seated need for the family stability she provides.
  • Naruko - His youngest, most outspoken admirer, whom he doesn't know how to deal with because of her baffling persistence. As her senpai, he encourages her growth as a kunoichi, which sometimes leads to hilarious misunderstandings due to the preteen's narrow, single-minded focus on capturing his heart.
  • Pulenko - His father and the previous inheritor of the Virulent Seed. He views his father with extreme contempt, unwilling to acknowledge any good his actions may have had on Earth.
  • Saianya - His self-proclaimed true little sister, despite them being the same age and having no blood relation or even looking alike. It is no secret that Saianya has been the biggest supporter of Hayashiko's Phantom Beast since they met and has an almost obsessive love for him that isn't "sibling-like" at all. Pankuro cares about Saianya more than anyone and can sense her true intentions beneath the little-sister facade, but he's ultimately unable to reciprocate her feelings, even if they are pure, because of his Virulent Seed; therefore, he's resigned himself to being her older brother.
  • Senpai - As a construct comprised of pure Phantom Energy, he acts as her anchor to the physical world because of his nature as a living, albeit unstable battery of the reality warping energy that's still in its volatile Virulence phase. She helps him expel his Virulent Seed in safe dosages and is the one who recommended he use a Stinger when he starts to lose control, as it is easier to control without the risk of excessive leakage.
  • Turome - His first true friend, and because they were both born in Hayashiko, they are "distant" relatives. While Turome originally envied Pankuro’s Halfbreed physiology and natural combat talent as children, that envy evaporated into pure annoyance once they became friends because of the Phantom Beast’s instantaneous crush on his mother, Nairobi. Despite this comedic friction, which has remained a constant over the years, Turome remains loyal to Pankuro and is one of the few figures in his life who tries to keep him humble. Turome is definitely the more mature of the two young men on a pure surface level.

Threat Assessment

Animal Respect - Earth's fauna instinctively recognizes him as an apex predator. Instead of fleeing or attacking, animals are drawn to his empathetic, gentle side, often showing him deep affection.

Aura Perception -  Pankuro possesses absolute clarity when perceiving the supernatural. He can read personal auras to immediately understand someone's personality, intent, and abilities.

Eidetic Memory - Possesses absolute total recall, allowing him to memorize, optimize, and execute complex behaviors and combat techniques after seeing them just once.

Empathy - He senses and influences the emotions of those around him. He can forcefully assert specific emotions onto lesser beings and animals (especially felines) to manipulate their behavior. Furthermore, he can merge minds with individuals to awaken their dormant psychic potential.

Escapology - Due to his specialized Phantom Blade training, Pankuro is an elite-level escape artist capable of breaking out of almost any physical restraint or confinement.

Fuyurian Halfbreed Physiology - Pankuro has a unique physiology that roughly resembles that of an elf from Human folklore and a hunting cat. His physical attributes far exceed those of an Olympic-level athlete and even edge out Cyber Soldiers or ArkaTech's Ultra Humans, the engineered counters to Halfbreeds, and, when factoring in his Phantom Blade history, he fights like someone in their prime despite that not being the case. His strength, speed, stamina, endurance, agility, reflexes, and coordination are beyond anything a Purebred Human can achieve, and he maintains an intensive regimen of rigorous exercise, including aerobics, weightlifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat training, to keep him at peak performance. This strict routine has enabled him to defeat opponents whose size, strength, or other powers greatly exceeded his own. As a Halfbreed, his five senses are enhanced, and being of the Fuyurian variant, his sixth sense, although only partially developed, is higher than even the Hayashiko Elders.

  • Agility - An elite-level gymnast whose acrobatics are matched only by highly specialized female halfbreeds or Ultra Humans.
  • Coordination - Pankuro knows exactly how to use every part of his body in a fight to end any encounter as quickly as possible, and given his Fuyurian heritage, coupled with his training, he is essentially a bipedal hunting cat with a Human-level intellect that uses military and martial tactics.
  • Endurance - Incredibly durable. Despite his "pretty boy" appearance, Pankuro can continue fighting after being stabbed directly through the chest. He factors out physical pain to fuel adrenaline boosts instead.
  • Reflexes - Pankuro's already enhanced reflexes were honed to such a degree that he can casually dodge point-blank, automatic gunfire with his eyes closed.
  • Resilience - Truly a terrifying thing since he uses his wounds as a natural steroid, and because he fights with little regard for his life the longer a fight goes on, you wouldn't want to be the other guy.
  • Speed - On foot, he hits speeds of 40 mph (and 15 mph while swimming). His attack speed appears as a complete blur to normal eyes.
  • Stamina - He can fight continuously for hours on less than two hours of sleep while heavily wounded. His longest recorded bout was a multi-hour battle against a Purebred Nyamanese Fuyurian.
  • Strength - Although Pankuro prefers to outmaneuver his foes using skill and strategic planning, when he stops holding back, his raw physical strikes can easily shatter reinforced titanium doors and obliterate the most durable earthly materials.
  • Sight - Can see clearly up to one mile in absolute darkness.
  • Sound - Can focus in to clearly hear a whispered conversation up to one mile away.
  • Smell - Advanced tracking capability; can hunt targets across miles once he has their scent.
  • Taste - Instantaneous breakdown; identifies the exact ingredients in any cuisine upon tasting it.
  • Touch - Pankuro is much more sensitive to physical sensations, and while most would be at a disadvantage when taking damage in a fight, he's learned to factor out pain in favor of an adrenaline boost.
  • Perception - Pankuro is attuned to the supernatural forces on Earth, able to see, hear, and physically interact with spirits, unmanifested entities, higher beings on the astral plane, and is sensitive to intrinsic and psychic phenomena in others.

Immunity - Possesses total immunity to natural, engineered, and interdimensional diseases. This immunity stems directly from the dark, cosmic force bound to him.

Intimidation - His predatory intensity in his Night Prowler persona is enough to terrify common criminals and seasoned soldiers into fleeing, and even his closest allies to grow concerned.

Interrogator - Uses high-level psychological warfare and law enforcement techniques. When forced to use physical force against resistant criminals, he has been known to extract teeth, break bones, and permanently mutilate joints.

Investigation - Known as an elite investigator with unparalleled inductive and deductive reasoning. His sharp intuition allows him to solve complex mysteries with a fraction of the data.

Leadership - Pankuro is recognized by his friend group for his strong leadership. He is reportedly someone you want to look to for moral guidance, often inspiring others with his compassion and easygoing demeanor in the face of evil and adversity.

Marksmanship - Expert in both ancient and modern projectile weapons, from throwing traditional kunai and firing bows to handling advanced military firearms.

Multilingualism - Fluent in 17+ languages, including Spanish, French, Latin, German, Japanese, English, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek, Portuguese, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi, Thai, and Farsi.

Neurocognitive Disruption - He can disrupt memory chains and upper brain functions in a living organism. Its standard effects can prevent concentration, render aggressive targets docile, or knock them unconscious. Advanced uses can cause weak-minded targets to succumb to memory alteration, erasure, suggestion, or vivid hallucinations.

Psionic Aura - Pankuro possesses an incredibly potent psionic aura and a highly developed brain, allowing for advanced mental manipulation and tracking.

Psionic Tracking - Pankuro can trace individuals via their unique psychic signature within a 50-yard radius. He can detect residual psychic traces left behind by targets, with more powerful beings leaving a longer-lasting trail.

Psychometry - By physically touching an object or person, he extracts historical memories and sensory data. With objects, he can gain knowledge of their makers, previous users, and their history. With people, he can relive the potent or disturbing memories of a living or recently deceased individual.

Regeneration - Recovers from all damage at an accelerated rate. This includes rapid healing of destroyed tissue, internal organs, and the complete regrowth of amputated limbs.

Stealth - Master of shadow infiltration, capable of breaching the most heavily fortified, high-security facilities on Earth undetected.

Teleportation - Pankuro can instantly teleport between available shadows without ninja tools. He can also store physical objects within nearby shadows—or directly inside his own shadow—for quick access.

Tracking - Elite tracker in both wilderness and urban landscapes.

Weaponry - Highly trained in all traditional melee weapons, showing exceptional proficiency in swordsmanship (Katana, Wakizashi, Odachi), daggers, staves, and even firearms during a brief time as a Fury Leader. However, he heavily prefers unarmed combat.

Willpower - The sentient Virulent Seed acts as a terminal illness that requires him to devour living beings or cosmic energies. Because he refuses to feed it, Pankuro lives in a state of constant, extreme discomfort. His determination comes from the promises he made to Saianya and his Halfbreed brethren. This grants him near-total resistance to telepathy, mind control, and immense physical pain.

World-Class Martial Artist - Regarded as the most polished Halfbreed fighter on Earth. His signature hand-to-hand combat style is a distinct, seamless fusion of the following: Taekwondo, Judo, Muay Thai, Kung Fu, Karate, Boxing, Jujitsu, Ninjutsu, and Capoeira.

Etymology of "Pankuro"

Pankuro’s first name is a direct reflection of his biracial identity, combining Yasasian (Fuyurian) and Japanese roots.

  • Pan-: Derived from the ancient, dominant warrior culture of Yasase, the Fuyurian homeworld. Because Pankuro's father was entirely absent from his life, Pankuro remains unaware of the precise Yasasian translation for "Pan."
  • -kuro: Translates directly to "Black" (黒) in Japanese. This aligns perfectly with his nature as the Black Pardus, the dark shadows he manipulates in combat, and his many aliases like Kuro and Night Prowler.

Scientific & Medical Designations

While the global public and military recognize him simply as a Halfbreed, advanced scientific organizations have a much more sinister classification for him.

  • Blood Type: Listed officially on high-level documents as PBWP.
  • Translation: Prime Biological Weapon Prototype.
  • The ArkaTech Threat: This label was forcefully applied to Pankuro by the ArkaTech Corporation. Recognizing the immense, destructive potential of his Fuyurian-infused genetics and the cosmic Virulent Seed within him, ArkaTech views him as a valuable test subject. They actively hunt him to extract, dissect, and weaponize his highly unstable, toxic blood to create the ultimate engineered soldiers or viruses.

HIGHLIGHTED DETAILS

Pankuro is characterized as a complex Halfbreed anti-hero who balances a quiet, creative interior (his love for sketching and romance media) against a volatile, world-ending nature as the Black Pardus. His narrative arc centers on redemption and restraint—specifically his struggle to help humanity despite facing discrimination, while simultaneously resisting the urge to use his Virulent Seed Birthright to destroy Earth. Pankuro’s journey is a powerful Hero's Journey subverted by the harsh realities of a world that views him as a tool or animal rather than a person. His transition from a child prodigy in a hidden village to a disposable mutt soldier for the UN adds a layer of tragic irony to his Phantom Beast persona.

Here’s a detailed look at the most defining pillars of his biography:

1. Early Life & Training (Ages 0–11) Growing up in Hayashiko, Pankuro wasn't just trained; he was forged. The revelation that his absent father helped found the Phantom Blades explains his raw talent—it’s in his blood. However, being a special case at age nine likely robbed him of a normal childhood, forcing him into a world of assassination and supernatural warfare before he could even process the loss of his mother, Kiyomi.

  • Birth & Heritage: Born in the Hayashiko region of Japan. His mother, Kiyomi, died shortly after childbirth, and his father was entirely absent. He inherited his father's darker complexion and the powerful Birthright of the exiled Fuyurian subgroup.
  • The Phantom Blades: Raised in a hidden village that served as the headquarters for the Phantom Blades. Like all villagers, he was rigorously trained in martial arts, blade handling, archery, and supernatural perception.
  • Childhood Isolation: His distinct, non-human features made him a target for teasing. He later realized the boys were simply envious of his combat talent and the attention he drew, while the girls were unsure how to process their attraction to someone so different.
  • Surpassing Peers: He befriended fellow outcasts Saianya and Turome. His raw athleticism and Fuyurian genes allowed him to rapidly outpace his peers.
  • The Prodigy: At age nine, a teacher revealed his father’s critical role in founding the Phantom Blades. Approved by the Elders, Pankuro completed his first mission with ease, causing him to be treated as an exceptional elite case.
  • The Phantom Beast: Placed on an elite team of seniors years ahead of his age, he earned the moniker "Phantom Beast" for his brutal, predatory hand-to-hand combat style.

2. Awakening & Vigilantism (Ages 12–15) This is the turning point that defines his moral compass. Discovering that the society he protected was the same one subjugating Halfbreeds transformed him from a loyal soldier into a revolutionary. His stint as the Night Prowler wasn't just about fighting crime; it was an act of rebellion against a corrupt system. He stopped hunting monsters (Fuyurian Summons) and started hunting the "scum" in power.

  • Dark Epiphany: At age twelve, Pankuro discovered the corruption of human society and the systematic discrimination and subjugation the United Nations meted out against Halfbreeds.
  • Shift in Purpose: Disgusted by human cruelty, he stopped hunting Fuyurian Battle Summons to hunt the criminals, corrupt law enforcement, and influential elites profiting from the suffering of others.
  • The Night Prowler: For three years, he operated as a lone vigilante in Japan's major cities. He took on street gangs, assassins, cyborgs, and genetically altered beings.
  • Defeat & Capture: His solo crusade ended when he was defeated by the Planetary Defense Corp's Silver Lining—an engineered Mixbreed whose power and conviction outmatched Pankuro's at the time.
  • The Ultimatum: Instead of executing him, the United Nations enslaved Pankuro, forcing him into military servitude as a disposable soldier in a Fury Platoon.

3. Rise of the Fury (Ages 16–17) Every great fighter needs a Wall—an opponent who forces them to evolve. Being bested by a Planetary Defense Corp Mixbreed (Saber Unit) highlights the scale of the world Pankuro lives in. It also shows the UN’s pragmatism: they didn't see a criminal to be executed; they saw a high-value asset to be enslaved under the "Fury" moniker. At sixteen, Pankuro found his true calling: Leadership. By talking Furies out of desertion and promising a better future, he became a symbol of hope for his kind. This is when he began mastering the Virulent Seed and complex Shadow Armaments out of necessity. It shows that his power is tied to his survival—the more the world tries to crush him, the more "monstrous" and versatile his shadow constructs become.

  • Fury Team Leader: By age sixteen, Pankuro had earned the respect of his fellow conscripted Halfbreeds, eventually rising to become a Fury Team Leader.
  • A Brother to His Kind: Though the role was grim, Pankuro felt a deep sense of belonging among his own kind. He acted as a protector, actively dissuading other Furies from deserting to save them from being hunted down by the Cyber Soldier Initiative.
  • Awakening the Birthright: Facing incredibly lethal Fuyurian Battle Summons, Pankuro began experimenting with his Virulent Seed Birthright, evolving his abilities beyond simple poisonous constructs into advanced tactical powers.
  • A Promise Made: He vowed to his fellow Furies that he would break their chains and forge a better future for all Halfbreeds.

4. The Present Day: F.E.A.R.S. Special Agent (Age 18) Now at eighteen, Pankuro is playing a dangerous game of political chess. Joining F.E.A.R.S. as a Special Agent gives him the global reach he needs to find the one responsible. He isn't just a soldier anymore; he’s a strategist aiming to dismantle the very justification used to treat Halfbreeds like animals.

  • Recruitment: At eighteen, Pankuro was approached by a former Phantom Blade who informed him of the First Encounter Advanced Response Section (F.E.A.R.S.), an organization his father had helped establish.
  • A New Mission: Recognizing the strange, escalating supernatural crises across the globe, Pankuro accepted the role of a F.E.A.R.S. Special Agent.
  • Ultimate Goal: He now uses the resources and authority of F.E.A.R.S. to track down the mastermind behind the world's catastrophes, aiming to eliminate the global threat and strip the United Nations of their justification for enslaving Halfbreeds.

Hayashiko Pankuro’s personality is a complex interplay between a laid-back facade, a deeply compassionate artistic soul, and a dark internal battle against a cosmic burden.

The Outer Mask: The Slacker & Romantic

  • The "Easygoing Slacker": At first glance, Pankuro appears to be a playful slacker. He often skips training hours to catch up on sleep or read his collection of erotic novels.
  • Deep Compassion & Intuition: Behind the slacker persona lies a deeply intuitive, wise, and gentle individual. He has a starkly gentle side that contrasts with his fearsome reputation as a brutal fighter.
  • The Perceived "Heartthrob": His exotic appearance, peak physical conditioning, artistic depth, and chivalrous nature make him a natural heartthrob. However, his perverted books frequently get him in trouble with romantic interests.
  • Vanity & Care: Pankuro takes pride in his appearance, often fussing over high-quality skin and hair products, and constantly reminding his male peers about the importance of foot care.

The Core Conflict: The Virulent Seed

  • A Gluttonous Curse: Pankuro is the latest host of the Virulent Seed Birthright—a cosmic power capable of devouring entire worlds.
  • The Ticking Time Bomb: The power requires its host to constantly feed it or use it. If suppressed for too long, Pankuro falls severely ill, risking being entirely consumed by the power.
  • The Mask of Sadness: Knowing that he is terminally ill and a potential danger to the planet makes him deeply sad at his core. He uses his lewd novels as a form of pure escapism, envying characters who are free to love and live without posing a threat to their partners.
  • A Fatal Flaw: Due to his zealous mission to destroy the Aphrodite human trafficking network, Pankuro is overly trusting of women. This protective instinct is frequently exploited by enemies, leading to mockery from his allies.

Hatred, Regret, & Resentment

  • Resentment Toward Parents: Pankuro harbors deep bitterness toward his absent father for passing down the Virulent Seed, and holds lingering contempt toward his deceased mother for choosing a Fuyurian mate.
  • Pure Hatred for Fuyurians: He despises the Fuyurian race, blaming the Yasasian High Court for exiling his ancestors and causing his cursed existence.
  • No Mercy for the Enemy: While Pankuro strictly adheres to a non-lethal combat style when fighting humans or other halfbreeds, he completely abandons this restraint when facing Fuyurians, unleashing his full, lethal potential to counter their dominant warrior strength.

Quirks & Social Dynamics

  • Easily Flustered: Despite his confident combat demeanor, Pankuro gets incredibly flustered when teased about his friend Saianya’s deep attachment to him, or when pursued aggressively by other women.
  • Accidental "Thirst Trapper": He frequently catches flak from his peers for accidentally "thirst trapping" female associates in professional environments—an effect he adamantly denies doing on purpose.

Core Relationships: Saianya & Turome

Pankuro’s deepest personal connections are rooted in his early years with the Phantom Blades. These two individuals understand his struggles as a Halfbreed and remain his most loyal confidants.

Saianya | The Little Sister

  • The Dynamic: Although they are the exact same age and share no blood relation, Saianya has self-proclaimed herself as Pankuro’s "true" little sister.
  • Obsessive Devotion: She has been his fiercest supporter since the day they met. Beneath her little-sister facade lies an obsessive, romantic love for him that is far from sisterly.
  • Pankuro's Dilemma: Pankuro cares for Saianya more than anyone else in the world. He is fully aware of her romantic feelings, but his terminal illness and the destructive nature of his Virulent Seed prevent him from reciprocating.
  • The Resolution: To protect her from his cursed existence, Pankuro forces himself to keep his distance emotionally, choosing to strictly act as her protective older brother.

 Turome | The Loyal Rival

  • The Dynamic: Turome is Pankuro's first true friend and a distant relative from the Hayashiko region. On the surface, Turome appears much more mature and grounded than Pankuro.
  • From Envy to Annoyance: As children, Turome deeply envied Pankuro’s superior Halfbreed physiology and natural combat talent. However, that envy quickly turned into pure annoyance once they became close friends.
  • The Running Joke: Their comedic friction stems from Pankuro’s long-standing, shameless crush on Turome’s mother, which drives Turome crazy.
  • The Anchor: Despite the constant teasing, Turome's loyalty to Pankuro is absolute. He is one of the very few people who can actively keep the "Phantom Beast" humble and grounded.

INTEGRATION & ADAPTATION

If Hayashiko Pankuro from Anyame nketewa no | The Lesser Gods were to tumble through an interdimensional tear into the world of Guilty Gear
, he would find himself in a heavy-metal aesthetic reality that vaguely mirrors the world he left behind. In this universe, magic replaces technology, and biological weapons are known as Gears instead of Ultra Humans.

Here is how the Phantom Beast would adapt to the events of Strive:

1. The Biological Identification

The most immediate change would be how society views him. In his home world, he is a Halfbreed with a unique blood type listed as "PBWP" (Prime Biological Weapon Prototype) due to his biracial heritage and dark lineage. In the Guilty Gear universe, Pankuro would almost certainly be identified as a Gear—a biological weapon created to serve as a soldier.

  • The Gear Connection: Characters like Sol Badguy or Ky Kiske would likely sense his Virulent Seed Birthright and mistake it for a massive, concentrated, and unpredictable source of Backyard energy.
  • Sol Badguy's Reaction: Given Sol's history of hunting monsters, an initial confrontation is likely. However, once Sol realizes Pankuro is a reluctant weapon with his own will, they'll likely find a mutual understanding as two guys carrying world-ending power they never asked for.

2. Navigating the Post-War World

Pankuro arrives just three weeks after the Universal Will incident. The world is in a state of high tension as the "Worst Criminal in History," Asuka R. Kreutz (That Man), has surrendered to the U.S. government.

  • F.E.A.R.S. to the International Police: Pankuro’s background as a F.E.A.R.S. Special Agent would make him a natural ally for the International Police Force or the United Kingdoms of Illyria.
  • Chipp Zanuff & The Eastern Connection: Pankuro would likely gravitate toward Chipp Zanuff, the President of the Eastern Chipp Kingdom. Both share ninja-based fighting styles and a desire to protect the marginalized. Chipp might even offer Pankuro a position in his kingdom, seeing him as a fellow "President" of his own destiny.

3. Combat Adaptation

Pankuro’s Shadow Armaments would transition seamlessly into the high-octane combat of Guilty Gear.

  • Shadow vs. Magic: In this world, his siphoning of shadows would be interpreted as a form of Forbidden Magic. He might even find common ground with Zato-1, whose shadow parasite, Eddie, behaves similarly to shadow armaments.
  • The Virulent Seed Threat: The gluttonous nature of the Virulent Seed Birthright would be a massive concern for the United Nations. If the Seed can devour stars, it is a threat equal to Justice or the Universal Will. Pankuro would have to keep his true nature hidden from the Post-War Administration Bureau.

4. Cultural Integration

  • The Slacker Mask: His easygoing slacker personality would make him well-liked among the Jellyfish Pirates. May and the crew would likely find him charming, especially if he spends his off-time sketching the sky or reading his romance novels on the deck of the May Ship despite his fearsome reputation.
  • The Aphrodite Factor: While the Aphrodite Criminal Syndicate doesn't exist in the GG universe, the Assassin's Guild or the remnants of the Bureau would provide him with enough "scum" to hunt, satisfying the predator instincts inherited from his Fuyurian side.
