Chapter Text
Yoonchae groans, having just got done with basketball practice. Her legs hurt, her arms ache and her skin feels all sticky even after her bath.
She looks up to the gym door, eyes immediately softening.
“Hey.” She greets when she’s close enough to be heard.
Megan beams at her, standing up and kissing her right on the lips.
Yoonchae sighs into it, the warmth and sweetness just what she needed after a long practice.
The older girl pulls away, brushing the other’s hair back. “Hi, bad practice?” She asks sweetly, taking the younger girl’s bag from her.
Yoonchae hums in acknowledgement, lacing their hands together. “It was good, actually. Just— way too tiring…”
Megan all but drags her to her car. “Check my bag in the back seat, there’s a carton of banana milk and a container of cookies there.” She says knowingly and Yoonchae immediately goes to get it.
Once she has the milk and cookies in her hand she groans, leaning against Megan and promptly interrupting her process of starting the car.
“I love you so much.” Yoonchae says and Megan laughs, kissing the top of her head. “I love you too.”
They stay like that for a couple minutes. “I should start driving already, I told Sophia I’d bring you back to your house before dinner, it’s five and I still wanna go to that trinket shop with you.”
Yoonchae hums, pulling away and practically melting into the seat.
She opens the container and bites back a moan at the first taste of the cookies— soft, and chewy, the perfect ratio of batter and chocolate.
The Korean girl is content to just listen to Megan’s ramblings while she finishes the cookies and banana milk.
She only notices the note stuck onto the carton when she’s finished with it.
"hi!!!! ily yoonchip, got u this while waiting ik it’s ur favs!! my super strong athlete girlfriend is gonna kick ass next week mwaahh!!! also i’m SO “bananas” for u ;) get it?”
Yoonchae huffs out a soft laugh and plucks the note off, tucking it into her bag’s pocket— she’d have to stick that onto her corkboard at her desk.
“You’re so corny.” She said softly, staring at Megan’s side profile and pushing down the urge to kiss her.
Megan grins. “You saw the note? Shouldn’t I be banana-y?”
Yoonchae snorts. “That’s not a thing.” She counters.
The older girl stops at the red light and takes the opportunity to pull Yoonchae into a warm kiss that made her feel like she was melting.
They’re forced to pull away when a loud horn interrupts them— Megan had accidentally caused traffic.
“Sorry!” She calls out after rolling down her windows before driving off.
Yoonchae stares at her with the fondest smile and she knows well that if Sophia were here— the older girl would tease her relentlessly.
It takes fifteen minutes to arrive at the little trinket shop.
The shop was a small, cozy thing down the block.
Light pink walls covered with hanging plants, the smell of pastries wafting over from the bakery next door.
Inside was filled with various shelves and containers— right off the bat Megan sees a cute strawberry ceramic trinket holder.
Yoonchae follows her girlfriend— well, more accurately Yoonchae gets dragged around by Megan.
Megan perks up at seeing a light green bag of… Smiskis?
She immediately perks up, tugging at Yoonchae.
“Chip! Look! Sophia would go wildddd!” Yoonchae checks the price.
Her eyes widen. “Oh wow, it’s only fifteen dollars.” Yoonchae murmurs.
There were probably over a dozen smiskis in there.
Yoonchae clicks her tongue and takes the bag, she looks over at Megan’s ceramic strawberry designed holder and a handful of little things Megan had found cute.
“I’ll go get us a basket.” Megan perks up and grins at the younger girl.
“How sweet of you.” She says as Yoonchae huffs and walks away.
Yoonchae comes back not even a minute later, taking Megan’s stuff and setting it down in the basket without another word.
Megan reaches for the basket and Yoonchae pulls it away. “Uh no? I’m carrying this.”
The older girl pouts, continuously trying to grab the basket out of her hands. Yoonchae opens her mouth to protest but Megan slams their lips together— thoroughly distracting Yoonchae with the warmth of lips and taste of cherries.
They’re forced to stop when Megan pushes Yoonchae a bit too far and Yoonchae nearly causes a shelf of glass trinkets to fall over.
The two are quick to adjust it, stare at each other, and silently vow to be very, very careful for the rest of their shopping time.
“Completely your fault by the way.” Megan says, immediately receiving an indignant noise of protest.
“How is that my fault? You kissed me and pushed me!” Yoonchae complains.
Megan takes her hand and interlaces their fingers, squeezing once. “It’s your fault for being so kissable.” She says surely.
Yoonchae scoffs and kisses her cheek. “Well. I’m so sorry then.”
Megan nods as if she accepts Yoonchae’s apology.
Yoonchae sighs softly, watching Megan with a fond look in her eyes.
Megan perks up at seeing a cute bracelet, checks the price— five— and puts it in their basket.
The older girl moves to cling onto the other’s arm. “See anything you like?” Megan asks with a bright smile.
Yoonchae stares at her directly. “Mhm.” Megan splutters and hits her shoulder, evoking a bright laugh from the younger girl.
A pair of ceramic figurines catch Yoonchae’s eye. It was a fluffy looking fox and a sleek cat.
They were leaned up against each other, the fox looking bright and cheery while the cat looked calmer and more grounded.
She takes the pair to show her girlfriend.
Megan lights up. “It’s literally us! Let’s get it!” She says with a beaming smile and Yoonchae has no choice but to nod and set it in their basket— her cheeks are starting to hurt from all the smiling she’s been doing.
They’re only five minutes away from the Laforteza house, having parked somewhere near their street.
“I don’t wanna leave you.” Megan pouts, toying with Yoonchae’s hand.
Yoonchae smiles down at their intertwined hands. “We’ll see each other tomorrow.”
Megan winces, Yoonchae promptly raises her eyebrow.
“Yeah, um about that…” Yoonchae whines at the idea of Megan being gone all day. “I have a stupid like— it’s a dumb workshop thing for the dance team, even Dani will be gone tomorrow.”
Yoonchae looks sulky and it takes everything out of Megan to not call her dance trainer and just quit on the spot.
“But on Wednesday?” Yoonchae prompts.
“I’ll be here Wednesday.” Megan answers, pressing gentle kisses to Yoonchae’s hands.
The younger girl’s sulky attitude disappears mostly, a small smile coming to tug on her lips.
They end up staying in the car for half an hour until Sophia phone calls Megan— asking where her sister is.
Yoonchae toys with the little ceramic fox she had bought earlier with Megan. Well, she bought a cat and Megan bought the fox, they swapped.
She stares down at it fondly. Looks like her, cute. The tongue of the fox was even cheekily sticking out.
Yoonchae sets it down on her desk and puts Megan’s note from earlier on her corkboard.
The girl sighs and drags a hand down her face. “...no way I already miss her.” She mutters.
“It’s barely been an hour!” She complains to no one in particular.
She gets up off her bed, plucks a hoodie out of her closet— one of Megan’s— and walks back to her bed, trying to sleep in hopes of seeing her girlfriend quicker.
