Chapter 1: 01

Chapter Text

Fight hard.

Don't look back.

Honor your island.

Honor your family that has brought you to life.

To the sun whom burned your skin and sweat through neverending battles.

A leader doesn't back away, at anything.

Don't cry.

A ruler doesn't allow himself to cry, even through death.

Don't drop your pants off-

Easy to say when you aren't not at war!

Don't do sex-

Don't run off.

Don't leave!

Fight with your compagnions!

Die as a hero-

Fight for Greece! Sparta deserved to be fought with diginity!

Don't walk away-

Damn, everything burn him.

Not his weak ankles, but everything else where.

"I don't want you to die for me or to kill anyone for my sake. My own sake to live."

Ah..Iphigenia..

A young woman whom had just gotten out of childhood onto adulthood. And yet so wise at the moment of her death to which he did try to avoid with his life.

But couldn't save her. He couldn't.

To which it made Achilles live with regrets for the rest of his life. He may not have been in love with her, but did had some sincere sympathy for the young woman. It was so unfair that she and he, both had been used for bait in order to stop a war. A war that still had occured. Through, using Iphigenia for a sacrifice to Artemis.

To which he had found so unfair, though.

He had been a lover too many women and men, and yet. He was never satisfied. Never.

He may have been called a hero. Died like an hero, even if he died by an arrow slain through his ankles. Each human being had a weakness.

But Iphigenia had none.

But fear.

Even if it meant to see her, at the altar and being pulled back by her long hair so the knife would slain her slender neck-

He yelled back at the most horified scene-

...

Clear!

"Hey, we got a pulse! Good job everyone! He's back!" A man's voice yelled towards him as his soul regained his body as it budged back down where his heart was throbbing with pain. As hands held him down.

Breathhing in and out.

And yet, he couldn't feel any better as he slumbered back onto unconsciousness.

But, something had gave him the chills when he felt an presence closer. When he heard her voice through his ear as she brushed his dark lock of hair away from his sweating forehead. Gentle and hard working hands.

"Hangin' in there. You'll be okay, now.." A voice of an angel. An angel, that he couldn't have had saved and regretted for the rest of his life.

...

And he couldn't be more of himself when he came around onto.

Damn, his head felt so dizzy here as some strength came back through his body.

Damn it.. Achilles blinked a few times through the frightened light as a beeping sound was heard through the back. Air was kicking through his nose giving him the air he needed as he tried to swallow to clear out his throat. Which made him release an annoying groan. Damn. Everything hurted through his tight chest. And the gunshot wound he took at the end of his undercover case as a cop.

Damn it. It hurt to breathe.

"Don't try to talk, your vocals are in a pretty bad wrecked shape now..." An female voice had replied back to his ears which made him froze for a second, until he slowly turned his head over his left side. Thinking it would a siren trying to haunt his sight. But he was wrong.

And to which made him froze as his eyes came to see her. Standing over as she was checking over the chart she read.

"Rise and shine. You've made through the surgery which it was a week ago. Punctured lung, you know? However, you will be staying here, in the ICU for a couple days until the doctor in charge would be sure that you don't have any problems with breathing or spitting any blood.." She looked back at him with her green eyes teasing him up. A young auburn long haired woman with a ponytail who was around in her early thirties. Pretty fit and petite, here as she smiled at him while laid there in bed with his mouth almost open, with shock.

And yet, he couldn't stop staring at her. He laid there, frozen as she raised an impressed and arched eyebrow at him.

"Cat had gotten your tongue? Huh? Or more like you walked back from the dead to see an young pretty nurse as an angel. Huh?" She nervously chuckled back at his frozen stare."I'll help you out a bit, wait.." She walked over at the nightstand at his left side where stood a water pitch with a carton cup. The young nurse with the auburn long braid hair reached out for the pitch and poured water into the cup, and with a straw, turned over him as he kept on staring at her.

"Here. Drink, slowly.." She approached the cup with the straw close to his dried lips. She could observe that he hesitated for a few shorts of breaths as she watched him, or more his chest slowly rising up and down and back at him, or more at his eyes when he moved over with a nod of his head as his lips approached the straw and started to swallow, slowly.

Or more when his callussed hand took grasp of her free hand as an electric shock and sensation came through, as he tried to make her sense something important as if he wanted her to remember something. But to the nurse, nothing came over or more like she backed away when he moved away from the drink, with a wincing sound as he shut his eyes.

"Th-Thank you.." He breathed heavily as he felt relieved to be able to speak. Even if it hurt. Still. But to still be alive over to see and meet this woman. Familiar but beautiful, though.

"Told ya, of not to speak.." She scolded him back with a warning, when he waved off.

"Too late..I..Already did. So." He laid his head back onto the large pillows and clutched towards his chest which was covered by a tight white cloth, under the blue clothing over. Thinking he'd fall allsleep again, and to wake up over to see her still, by his side. Get a grip! Achilles!

"And you do have a good sense of humor.." She teased him back when he re-opened back his tired eyes to stare back at her."Keep that into check, okay?"

"Have we meet?" His voice was roarse through he did try to speak and wanted to know more. She was so familiar and yet he looked so intense and demanding.

"In your dreams, probably.." The young nurse with the auburn long hair tied as a ponytail hanging onto her back had replied, with a teasing smile as her green eyes smiled. But the name tag hanging onto her green scrubs had awaken his supsicions. Iphigenia Kazakos.

No.

His eyes went wide with fear.

And, Achilles felt like his own heartbeat skipped through as he had seen her name. Is she?

A woman whom through a very way longtime ago, he couldn't have had saved, was now standing by his side and helping him to heal through an hard gunshot wound he had received through an undercover operation that been going for two years by now. Through the war of the genders as he was spying behind the female demon's back. Lilith, in order to protect the men from any harm. But, none of that mattered now. It didn't.

Through his past life, he had men and women in his bed due to neverending battles. But none of them had satisfied his needs.

Cause of a person, he couldn't have had saved and there she was standing by his side. Delicate and beautiful young woman with pale skin and emerald eyes whom had taken control of her by death. Nor by sacrifice.

Damn, he felt like was being suffocated through his memories and lost thoughts.

He grunted with pain as he shut his eyes.

"Sir? You're alright? Think I should add more relief to the pain-" The woman's voice sounded a bit concerned as he felt her come closer. Oh God. It felt so good. He felt like burning, here..Damn, why everything had be hot, in here?

"No, no. Please. Don't.." He held back his arm towards her as he tried to regain his breath back by holding his chest covered by tight bandage."No, no. You don't need to..I can handle the pain, don't leave-"

"Try not to panic, I'll bring he doctor-" She sounded alarmed as he re-opened his eyes in panic.

"No. Not the doctor..No..I can't-Don't leave!" He spoke a bit louder this time. However, by his sudden surpise he took ahold of her wrist, once again as he watched her stop from taking another step away from him. She whirled her head back him with wonder. Alarmed as to say.

"Yes?" She sounded frightened, but decided to wait as he tried to catch with his breath as his heartbeat went a bit faster through the back.

"Your name. I need to know your name.." He sounded like he was begging her. Or more I'd go completly crazy, if I don't know it!

"Alright, alright." She sounded co-operative as she tried to assure him. "Slow down, here. It's Iphigenia. Friends here, call me Jenny. But it's Iphigenia." She waved back at him, when he was breathing out of control, here.

"Iphigenia.." He breathed through that name like a relief and closed back his eyes with a tired smile. Even if Iphigenia didn't injected him with a heavy painkiller here. He looked pretty relaxed now as she judged through his features. Wasn't good? Or not? She asked back to herself.

"And yours? "

"Huh?"

"Your name.." Oh, right. He almost forgotten..

"Ahh. It's Weasley-No, no." Moron! Not your undercover name! You're not in danger, anymore! He cleared up his throat and narrowed back his eyes as he re-opened them to look up at her, looking pretty intense."It's Achilles here."

"Achilles.."

"Yeah. Not my fault. My grandfather's name.." He spoke a bit too fast as he released a short wince. He shouldn't have had spoken too fast or he would have had pulled up his stiches.

"You're greek, too?"

"Weird, uh? I still have hair at this age. Though.." He replied back for a lame excuse which made her spit out a laugh.

"Like I said; You have a pretty good sense of humor, it would help you to heal faster, than you'll know." She cleared back with a smirk."Like you can take your hand off of my wrist, now.." She looked down of her caged wrist which he still up with a firm hold.

"Mm?" He made a sound until he looked down as he noticied he still had her wrist under his hold. Embarrassed, he dropped down his movement in a hurry as he looked away."Sorry.."

"It happens. Don't look so embarrassed, here."

"Still, I'm sorry. I'm just relieved that's all." Can't explain it yet. And how would he? Unless, she'd look up at him like he was an complete lunatic now.

"Oh. I can see that." She looked back over him, and grimaced."I should probably be heading back. I have a long shift ahead, but I'd let know the doctor that you're awake and responding well." And she stepped back to leave him to rest, when Achilles had called her back as he whirled his head towards her.

"Iphigenia?"

"Yes? Do you need anything else?" She turned back at him, trying to not annoyed by the way he pronnounced his name, in a sensual way. Must be the drugs that hadn't waved off yet. She thought back when he shook his head back.

"No. Only. This.." He stopped her before she could walk back at his side.

"Yes?"

"Thank you.."

"For what?"

"Everything.." For still being alive..He almost added back. And beautiful and thriving it almost brought him into tears. Holding back himself from saying anything bizzare, for a young woman whom he couldn't have thought he may have feelings for her, decades ago.

"Alright..I'll let you rest now."

"Alright.." And he watched her leave, with his heart filled with relief, but more importantly with love. A feeling he almost had forgot he once had through his past life.

A strange feeling, but true.

...

Well, that was an akward situation and pretty intense as well. For a weird thought, Iphigenia had almost felt good by stepping out and made her way to the desk over to the Intensive Care Unit where another young red haired nurse waited as she played with a lock of her hair, playfully. Kattleen 'Katie' Hanley, was her friend and roomate. When the two of them were exiled over at Lilith's reign against the men, almost two years ago.

"Hey, Jenny? Are you on a break?"

"Not yet, I still need to check on Jezebel. Is she doing better now?" She leaned over the desk. Which the desk nurse shrugged back in denial.

"No serious attacks through the fact she had awfull reaction due to her HIV status, months ago. But she's stable now." Katie had answered back with a teasing smirk."The medication you've gave her, helped her out just in time, Jenny."

"I'm glad." But not so glad when she noticed where Katie was getting onto.

"How's the sleeping lord?" Oh. Great. Just as she wanted, Katie wanted some gossip here and the short red haired woman wasn't about to let it go.

"He's awake and responding well. Thought he would've had lost it, but he was serious enough." She added out from the situation that had occured at the room a few moments ago, but her voice had turned out a bit of mumblering at the last words that came out. But Katie had heard pretty well.

"As?" She was getting interested here. Great. Just great. Iphigenia believed her face had turn completly crismon with embarrassement.

"He looked at me, as if I was a ghost. I tried to calm him down and urged me to give him my name..Which I did."

"Well, you know greek men.." Katie whistled back as she looked back at her, still teasing up. However, Iphigenia wasn't buying any of it.

"Seriously, I'm a greek woman, and I'm not crazy enough to lose my mind over a man."

"Haha! But what about him, though? Why do you think, he may do not?" Katie had told her back with a warning."You're real name is Iphigenia, and he's..is.."

"Achilles.."

"A warrior whose name had almost gotten slained when a maiden who was promised to marry him, was in fact brought to the atlar but to be killed, as an excuse for him to move his army and attack the other empire."Katie had explained back to her somber expression. "Anyways, Jenny, you do know the story, cause I don't. Do the math, here."

"It can't be real.." It's just a mythology. Just a story. Doesn't mean it's real, though. Besides, through the story, they didn't had any story or relationship with each other. If so, than why was her heart beating like mad, here? Or it's butterflies she felt through her stomach?

"What if it is?" Katie had guessed back as Iphigenia whirled back at her defiant.

"I don't believe in coincidences, and besides, he's not blond..He has dark hair close enough to be pitch black, you know?"

"Woah..Someone's in love here..Maybe in his past life he had blond hair and a bit bisexual, but I don't mind a dark haired man, and I'm sure you don't either.."

"Don't say that..You know we can't.." She gave Katie an watchful eye.

"The war is over Jenny. Men and women can fall for each other without any danger now. You can as well too, you know?" Katie waved back behind her, with a smirk."And Achilles is the guy you can start with.."

It gave her another watchfull eye here, while Katie tried to play innocent. No, she wouldn't give herself to the very first man she sees, even if the war was now over. Heck, she didn't even called her parents who lived back over in Greece, Crete. Somewhere safe and clean from the war, unless they were separated through sex gender. She sworn to herself she would never go back there, when it almost happen.

And if it hadn't been for Lilith's homecoming, who knows where she would be, today-No! Don't preach a female demon! She tried to use you by helping you out and hating the men, out there-

Lilith had tried to use her, and probably wanted her to kill her own father..

And yet, Achiles was just a few doors away from her sight and probably waiting for her to comeback, and those intense hazel eyes were demanding more of her sight. And it made her heart beating like crazy.

"Jenny?"

"Let me check on Jezebel, and I'll be back for lunch.." The red long haired woman had tried to spit out a lame excuse and waved back as she walked away returning her smirk. Which Katie had almost laughed back at her.

"Chicken!"

...

That was her, but more beautiful. Than ever..

"Yeah, keep on breathing before you swallow a fly, here." Shutting his mouth, Achilles opened back his eyes as he gave a glare to the man who wore a dark suit and badge hanging over his belt. However, the guy here wasn't impressed here as he stood behind the doctor who examined the chart of the patient, trying to not let himself bother.

"Judas.." He warned back over.

"What? The way he was drooling over here, we'd think he'd be having an orgasm, here.." Judas had scolded back over as Achilles gave him a warning glare as he wanteed to jump out of bed, before he could start to cough as he covered his mouth with his uper arm.

"You, alright?"

"Yeah. It's nothing. I'll be fine." He replied between a few coughs, here, before he breathed a bit better and laid back down onto the bed.

"That's to be expected. With a Punctured lung due to the gunshot. So, now you do know why I've decided to keep you in here?" The doctor with the light brownish long hair and trimmed beard had replied back, his blue eyes were concerned but serious.

"Think, I'll get an infection?"

"That might be a risk, true." The young the doctor as he was standing up to his full height with a firm stare."But that's too early to state that fact. And now that you're awake and responding well, we'll see how you'll do for the next seventy two hours later." He put his hands through his green scrubs pants."And even if the surgery was a success, it could probably end into chaos, so we wait for the next tests, and breathings as well." It did seemed serious through the tone of his voice according Achilles. He almost forgot that he wasn't an half God anymore. Human bodies were so easily made to break by any bad luck, and not only by the heels for now.

"Alright.." He didn't had much of a choice if he wanted to get better and get out of here. Weak, he hated the feeling of being weak.

"Take it easy for now on. No stress and jumping scares which it did provoke a few coughs like you just did.."

"Yeah, yeah." He agreed back once more as he wanted to man to understand.

"Not my fault, here." Judas had dragged back, lamely as the wounded man in bed wanted to kick him straight in the face.

"Good. Then, I'll let you rest for now. And if there's anything else you need, reach for this button, over at the top of your head. And Nurse Hanley, would help you out."

"And Iphigenia?" Achilles wandered back as soon as the doctor was about to leave.

"So, you've meet Jenny? That young nurse who has been taking care of you through the entire week? Huh? She's over at lunch now, but she'll come around or so.." The doctor had assured him back as the wounded man in bed felt a bit better and nodded back with relief. Control your feelings, man! People would give the wrong impression of you-

"What? You have the hooks for h-"

"GET OUT OF HERE!" The wounded man had yelled back as the sergeant detective had almost been pushed back away by the straight his yelling, enough to het a heart attack.

"What did I-" Judas didn't got the chance reply as the doctor dragged him out of the door before Achilles had thrown him a cup carton at his face which had him release an grunt of pain, once more.

...

Think I should give it, a try? If so, give me a nice review if you had liked..

Thank you.
