Work Text:
I want somebody to tell me I’m pretty
I wanna feel like I’m worthy of love
Lookin in the mirror shouldn’t feel so shitty
So tell me I’m pretty
Maybe that’ll be enough!
Roman’s door slams open, literally rattling the doorframe with the force with which it was kicked open.
“You are pretty! Okay? You’re pretty, you’re gorgeous, you’re handsome, now for the love of god can you please sing another song?! It has been HOURS!”
The prince stares at the frustrated emo standing behind him in the mirror. He was frozen with hairbrush still in hand, he had been serenading himself in the mirror with his new favorite song for a while now, but surely it hadn’t been-
Oh. It really had been two hours. Well, that was worrisome, considering how long he had been in these feelings.
“My apologies, Virgil, I didn’t realize it had been so long, or that you could hear me,” he said, turning to look at the other side.
The anxious side stands arms crossed, huffing just a bit from running over here, kicking in a door, and yelling so much all in the space of ten seconds. “It's fine, it's a good song, just. Please, I’m going crazy listening to it on repeat like this!”
“I understand,” Roman says, looking up at the ceiling for a moment. “Did you mean it?”
“What?”
“You said… Well, those kind words. Were those just to get the singing to stop?”
Virgil snorts.
“Come on Princey, you were looking in the mirror when I walked in here. You must know I was telling the truth,” he turns to leave. “Besides, I could have just told you to shut up.”
Roman can’t help but smile at the other’s retreating back. Under his breath he sings one more time:
“Maybe that’ll be enough.”
