Work Text:

Kim Iwol is grading his students’ homeworks when noise suddenly fills the otherwise quiet faculty room. Students beeline toward him with Baek Haewon leading the group.

“Yes?” Kim Iwol said, placing down his marker to give his students his full attention.

The group murmurs, pointing fingers at each other. Baek Haewon fiddles with her fingers before inhaling deeply and says, “Mister Kim, you are under arrest.”

And that’s how Kim Iwol found himself in his students’ grasp, pulling him away from the quiet faculty and to crowded hallways. Based on the direction they are going, he is sure that they are going to the jail booth.

He sighs and mourns the time he lost to do his work. His students look excited too; he can’t refuse to indulge in their whims once in a while.

They are nearing the jail booth and Kim Iwol is eager to get this over with. He sees one of his colleagues by the booth, who waves at them when the teacher spotted them.

“I see you’ve successfully brought Mister Kim,” Lee Cheonghyeon says as they near him, grinning mischievously. Baek Haewon nods, her smile just as mischievous. “Good job, everyone. Now, let’s get to work!”

Kim Iwol doesn’t have the time to realize that his colleague and students conspired against him before he’s pulled again—this time, away from the jail booth and towards another.

Blood drains from Kim Iwol’s face as a white veil drapes over his head and a bouquet of flowers is shoved into his hand. The booth before him is covered in different shades of red, almost mocking him. Two people stand at the end of the aisle: one mimicking a priest and the other a groom.

What the hell, Kim Iwol thinks. What the hell is happening?

Someone pats his back. His students leave him alone to blend in with the audience, while Lee Cheonghyeon wishes him luck.

Kim Iwol didn’t have the time to question the man nor the situation at hand when slow music plays in the speakers. He gulps, recognizing the song for what it was—a wedding song.

Baek Haewon gestures him to walk down the aisle. He doesn’t want to, but his feet move despite his reluctance.

As he moves closer and closer to the ‘altar’, Kim Iwol can finally see clearly who his groom is. Heat spreads to his cheeks. Choi Jeho extends a hand towards Kim Iwol, who stiffly grabs it.

“Cheonghyeon orchestrated this, didn’t he?” Kim Iwol whispers to Choi Jeho as the ‘priest’ recites his script. Choi Jeho stays silent. Suspicion arouses in the back of Kim Iwol’s mind.

“Do you, Kim Iwol,” the ‘priest’ says, “take Choi Jeho to be your lawfully wedded spouse?”

Kim Iwol purses his lips. “I do.”

The ‘priest’ nods, satisfied. “And do you, Choi Jeho, take Kim Iwol to be your lawfully wedded spouse?”

“I do,” Choi Jeho says without any pause.

“You may now kiss the groom.”

Cheers erupt from the crowd. It irks Kim Iwol that the loudest voice came from Lee Cheonghyeon. He can hear some of his colleagues too—Jeong Seongbin, Park Joowoo, and Kang Kiyeon.

Kim Iwol tries to back off—to run away—but Choi Jeho catches him and pulls him closer, his eyes sparkling in anticipation. His lips curve into a smile.

“Oh,” Kim Iwol sighs. Exasperated. Knowing. “You really paid to have us fake wed?”

Choi Jeho shrugs. “Can I kiss you now?”

Kim Iwol rolls his eyes. “If you must.”

“That’s not a yes.”

“Okay.” Kim Iwol relents. “Yes.”

Choi Jeho cups his face, gently caressing it, before leaning in. Kim Iwol closes his eyes. Warm lips touch his forehead and the crowd goes wild.

Choi Jeho pulls back. Kim Iwol looks at him with a confused expression. He was so sure Choi Jeho would properly kiss him. It’s a bit embarrassing that Kim Iwol is disappointed.

A hand pinches his ear. Kim Iwol glares at Choi Jeho for the action, who doesn’t look one bit apologetic.

Yeobo,” Choi Jeho whispers. “Let’s renew our vows.”

Kim Iwol’s heart flutters in his chest. A smile graces his lips, smooth as butter. This time, he doesn’t hesitate to say yes.
