Chapter 1: Fae

Chapter Text

The sun was high in the sky, its rays gently caressing the green field below. Among the colourful flower buds, a tiny fairy flitted about, his emerald wings fluttering as he examined each of the beautiful blooms. Once he finished his inspection, he happily soared towards the forest that surrounded his vibrant territory. The shade provided by the tall trees was a welcome relief for his warm body. It didn't take long for Jira to arrive at the sparkling lake. He settled on a moss-covered stone, waiting patiently. Soon, the lake's surface began to ripple, small waves lapping against the edge of the rock he was perched on. Jira's smile widened when his eyes landed on a figure surging out from the depths of a lake. Taking a deep breath, Jira relaxed before letting his pattite frame grow. The wings on his back disappeared, and the almost see-through clothes barely covered his newly acquired form.

"Isn't it my favourite fae?" The beautiful woman sat beside him. Jira rolled his eyes at the comment.

"I am not a fae." He snickered as he dipped his bare legs into the cool water.

"Sure, because fairies can grow this big." The water nymph poked his side. Jira squirmed at the touch.

"You are annoying." Jira groaned. His origin was a sensitive topic for him. As a half-breed, he wasn't welcomed among fairies or faes. At least he had Ing, the beautiful water nymph, and his flower-filled field as his home. She didn't care about his lineage, and Jira was grateful for that.

"How are your flowers? Did the orchid finally bloom?" Ing asked.

"Nope... I don't know why." Jira frowned.

"Maybe you need to water it more?" Ing sugessted.

"I will send more water to the steam, okay?" She added.

"Thank you. The blood spider orchid is really hard to take care of." Jira sighed. He remembers the day the wind brought the seed into his flower field. He was so excited to have a new addition to his colourful collection. He immediately recognised the dark beauty that would grow from it.

They sat at the lake for hours, talking about everything, when they felt it. Something shifting in the air. Jira felt the sparkles pricking his sensitive skin. He glanced at his friend, silently asking if she felt it too.

"It's a shift in the magic current. Someone is using very powerful magic." Ing frowned. She doesn't seem to like it either. The pricking didn't stop until the ground shook, making the animals and the magic creatures scream in panic.
