Work Header

the ten year plan.

Summary:

“I, Park Jihyo, declare that if in ten years from January 10th, I still haven’t found a men or woman worth marrying, I’ll accept Minatozaki Sana as my wife for the rest of my life.”

Notes:

Hello!

This is a story that I wrote back in 2018 (or 19, i don't remember), and I really LOVE IT! So, I decided to rewrite for sahyo because I think this kind of romcom would be perfect for them. I first had this idea when I watched the movie 'ten year plan', which is really funny btw.

This first chapter is kinda short because is just an introduction, so you guys can understand their dynamics for the rest of the story. The next ones will be loger.

Please ignore minor errors since english is not my main language. I'll fix them eventually.

Hope you enjoy this silly story!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: the first contract.

Chapter Text

Sorellina’s Restaurant, Seoul.

— Do you like the place? I saw on your Facebook profile that you’re into pasta, and this restaurant is supposed to be one of the best — Jihyo said, lowering the menu, noticing the surprised look on the woman sitting across from her — I hope you don’t mind, but I ordered our drinks before you got here, your favorite wine — She grabbed the bottle and carefully poured the wine into both glasses on the table. — I would’ve ordered your food too, but I wasn’t sure what you’d like.

Wow...—

— Oh! I almost forgot, Jihyo pulled out a white rose she’d hidden under the table — I brought this for you. People say you should always treat what matters to you with care, and nothing says that better than a small gesture — She handed the rose to the woman, who took it a little hesitantly. Jihyo grinned and raised her glass — I’d like to make a toast first. Here’s to happiness, and especially to the kind of love that catches you off guard. Here’s to relationships.

— To first dates — The woman corrected, sounding uneasy as she glanced around — Uh, can you excuse me for a minute?

— Of course, take your time — Jihyo smiled, watching her hurry off toward the bathroom.

Jihyo sighed and grabbed her phone, dialing a number she knew by heart. She waited patiently and glanced at her watch, shaking her head when she realized her best friend would probably be busy at this hour on a Friday—but she’d still pick up.

Charles River Motel, Seul.

Yes! Fuck me harder! — The brunette moaned loud, making Sana smile and give her ass a firm slap before thrusting her fingers harder — Yes! Yes! Yes!

Fuck, you're leaking — Sana laughed as she saw the woman's legs tremble and her toes curl — Come on, give me what I want!

Sana held the brunette's waist and began to curl her fingers constantly, smiling in satisfaction as she bit into the pillow to stifle the loud groan she let out with the quick thrusts that Sana’s fingers made inside of her.

Damn it! — Sana muttered as she heard her phone ringing on the nightstand. She stretched her neck to see who it was without stopping what she was doing to the girl in front of her. She nearly laughed when she saw Jihyo’s name on the screen, because she knew exactly why she was calling — Hurry up and cum already!

Sana started curling her fingers faster, listening to the loud moans from the woman whose name she couldn’t even remember. It didn’t take long before the brunette began shaking and collapsing onto the bed, breathing hard. Sana quickly wiped her fingers on the sheets and grabbed her phone, answering the call.

— Hi, Jyo!

— Hey, Sha. Am I bothering you?

— Nah, I'm done over here — Sana replied, glancing at the woman still catching her breath behind her — Your date must be a disaster if you're calling me.

— Hey! She just went to the bathroom! — Jihyo said, and Sana shook her head with a teasing grin — She's a good company and things are going great.

— Really? So, how's the date going? — Sana asked, a bit sarcastic.

— Pretty good! We're talking nonstop, you know? — Jihyo replied, and Sana crossed her arms, biting her lip to hold back a laugh — She's gorgeous and super smart, you know that's my type.

— Oh, I know, I know! — Sana replied, then there was a pause. At the restaurant, Jihyo glanced at the bathroom door near the exit and went quiet when she saw her date walk out quickly and leave, making her sigh — She left, didn't she?

— Yup, didn't even look at our table on the way out — Jihyo huffed, and Sana couldn’t help but laugh — Wanna come over? There’s still time to order dessert.

— Send me the address and I’ll be there in twenty minutes.

— Cool, I’ll be waiting. Bye, Sha.

— Bye, Jyo — Sana hung up and started looking for her clothes.

— Are you leaving already? — The woman asked, watching Sana closely.

— I got somewhere more important to be — Sana fixed her bra, buttoned up her jeans, and looked back at the woman.

— Are you at least gonna call me?

Sana raised her eyebrows and threw on her shirt, grabbing her boots, car keys, and phone before flashing an innocent smile.

Nah, sorry. But it was fun! — Sana winked.

Sana waved and left the room, pulling her boots on as she walked down the hall. In the elevator, she checked her phone for Jihyo’s message and couldn’t help but laugh at how dramatic she was being. Jihyo always acted like this after a bad date, and Sana knew exactly how to cheer her up again.

Back to Sorellina’s Restaurant, Seul.

— I can’t believe you picked this restaurant for Ms. Pretty and Smart! — Sana joked as she slid into the seat across from Jihyo. She leaned in and kissed her forehead, just like she always did.

— And I can’t believe you didn’t even shower — Jihyo made a face, earning a mocking laugh from her friend.

— If I’d stayed in that room five more minutes, I would’ve had to call her.

— No, you wouldn’t.

— Yeah, I know, I just wanted to get out of there — Sana shrugged, sitting down and smiling when she spotted her favorite dessert on the plate — I love when you order for me. Saves me...

— From wasting your breath, I know — Jihyo replied, lazily poking at her dessert with a fork — At least you don’t think it’s weird.

— Oh no, I totally think it’s weird — Sana answered with her mouth full, earning a glare from Jihyo — But I like weird things.

— You're an asshole — Jihyo muttered, hearing Sana’s amused laugh across the table.

— Sorry, Hyo. I’m just trying to distract you — Sana adjusted in her chair and looked at her best friend — Go ahead, I’m listening.

— I give up! —  Jihyo exclaimed, and Sana just shook her head, already bracing for Jihyo’s rant — I'm really giving up this time. Maybe I'll become a nun!

— You’re not gonna become a nun just because one date went wrong — Sana rolled her eyes.

— You mean another date — Jihyo shot back.

— Come on, Hyo. You’re only twenty! You’ve got your whole life ahead to find someone to marry — Sana said, shoveling more dessert in her mouth.

— I want to get married before I’m thirty-five, Sana! —  Jihyo raised her eyebrows — And with my dating record? I’m doomed to die alone!

— And becoming a nun is your solution?

— Yeah! At least then I’d have God to complain to about my boring, uneventful life — Jihyo pouted, and Sana burst out laughing, which made Jihyo laugh too — Okay, that was ridiculous.

— Glad you know — Sana said, finally stopping her laughter and getting comfortable in her chair — Look, it can’t be that bad. You’re funny, you’re nice, and I’m not even gonna start talking about how pretty you are. It’s just, the people you date are too dumb to notice that.

— I know, why do you think I call you every time it falls apart?

— Because I’m your best friend and the only one who puts up with your drama.

— I truly hate you — Jihyo muttered, crossing her arms. Sana grinned, put her fork down and leaned in on the table.

— Okay, here’s the deal. Since you’re so desperate, and because I’m an amazing friend, I’m gonna make you an offer.

— Oh great, here we go.

— No, seriously! This is legit and you’re gonna like it.

— Alright, let’s hear it.

— If in ten years you still haven’t found a real relationship and we’re both single, I’ll marry you.

Sana said it, and Jihyo just stared into her best friend’s eyes, trying to spot any sign she was joking or messing around, but there was nothing. Which was actually weird for Minatozaki Sana. But even so, Jihyo couldn't contain the loud laugh that escaped her lips.

Yah! Stop laughing! — Sana raised her eyebrows when she saw Jihyo throw her head back in laughter.

— You can't be serious! — Jihyo shook her head, still laughing.

— And why not?

— Because you hate any kind of relationship, Sana! — Jihyo pointed out, stopping her laughter.

— That's not true! We have a relationship, and I love it.

— Our relationship is different, it's not as serious as a fucking marriage! — Jihyo said obviously and saw Sana scoff.

— But it's still valid — Sana crossed her arms and stared at Jihyo intently — Tell me where you'll find someone who knows you so well and is already used to your quirks like I do? Besides, I'm already part of your family! It’s a win-win for you.

Jihyo continued to stare into Sana's brown eyes, which had that famous sparkle that only appeared when she was trying to manipulate Jihyo in some way. She wasn't wrong and got very strong points, but it was still something too weird for someone like Sana.

— Are you for real right now? — Jihyo squinted, totally skeptical.

— I’ve never been more serious.

— Why are you doing this?

— Because I'm your best friend and I want you to be safe and happy. And if getting married is something that will make you happy in the future, then I'll be your backup plan — Sana said calmly, giving her an amused smile — It's just a guarantee for you in case everything goes wrong in 9 years and 11 months.

— Sana, if you promise me this, there's no going back — Jihyo said seriously, looking Sana directly in the eye. Her friend leaned across the table without breaking eye contact and gave a smirk.

— I know that. I've never broken a promise, and this one won't be any different.

— Okay then, let’s make this official! — Jihyo said, grabbing her purse while Sana rolled her eyes and handed over a paper napkin.

— Sure, honey — Sana joked and went back to eating as Jihyo started scribbling out a contract on the napkin — Good God, you’re actually writing it down.

— Of course, I am! — Jihyo grinned, signing the napkin and sliding it over. Sana burst out laughing reading it — Go on, sign it.

— Anything you want — Sana said in a sweet tone, signing in the corner and handing the pen back — There you go. I’m officially your backup plan!

— And there’s no turning back! — Jihyo smiled widely, and Sana laughed but then widened her eyes.

— Oh! I almost forgot.

— What is it?

— I got you a present!

— But my birthday’s still a month away — Jihyo said confused.

— I know, it’s just a little pre-birthday thing — Sana smiled, passing over a small package — Open it! I wanna see some tears.

God... — Jihyo opened the package and broke into a smile when she saw a picture frame with a photo of the two of them. Sana knew how much Jihyo loved that picture and was pretty sure it would get the biggest, most genuine smile out of her — Shasha…

— Nailed it! I got the best smile of the night! — Sana joked, seeing her best friend’s eyes get watery — Sana wins, Ms. Pretty and Smart lose!

Jihyo started laughing and reached across the table to hold Sana’s hand, squeezing it in a silent thank you. She had no idea what she had done to deserve Sana, but she knew she’d always be grateful for it.
