Mr Walters a well known CEO and owner of michelin star restaurants across the country.
he had influence and power something that doesn't come for nothing, he worked hard for his position but now he had to keep it up by making everything perfect his family lived in the nicest city, with the nicest house and perfectly landscaped gardens not a single imperfection to be seen.
but that couldn't be said for everything, his family wasn't perfect much to his dismay but they kept up appearances on the outside where as on the inside his wife was an alcoholic, his son a disappointment to the family name but his youngest daughter Mia she was perfect in his eyes, straight A's student atop of her class and graduated valedictorian she has long flowy blonde hair and deep blue eyes a perfect image of her mother when she was younger.
Mia was even accepted into the best college on a full ride scholarship for business she was going to take over the restaurants when her father retired, but that's not what she actually wanted Mia was nothing like how her parents wanted her to be, she had no interest in business or fancy shmancy restaurants she wanted to travel and explore and embrace life.
she wanted to live her own life not one that was planned out for her since she born into this family, the money and popularity was nothing but a show high society lived in and dragged each other down as soon as the curtain is unveiled and perfection turns to hush money and substance abuse but nothing new there really that's just how things are.
Mia was hoping that college would be good for her, it's out of state and maybe this would be her chance to do something she wanted to do, make new friends and go to parties and do anything a normal teenager gets to do something she didn't get back in high school her fathers controlling ways and disappointed stares every time she even asked to go out with friends or do anything always followed up with the speech about appearance and grades.
but now she'd be living alone and finally free from expectations and stupid rules, this was her time to do everything she ever wanted and maybe while she's at it find the enjoyment in life she's always been looking for whatever or who ever that may be.
--------------------------------- TIME SKIP MOVING DAY ---------------------------------------
seeing her room so empty was weird, no posters of her favourite pop stars or her own paintings hung on the walls and no fairy lights strung across the headboard of the bed, no more plants covering her windowsill it was all gone and now stacked away in boxes in the car except one last box open with her plants that sat next her as she looked around the room she'd lived in since she was about 5 when they moved here it was strange but a new life awaited her.
"lets go, today please" her fathers voice echoed through the house loud and impatient, so reaching and grabbing hold of the last box taking one last look before leaving down the stairs her mother awaited her at the door pulling her in for last hug.
"ohh darling we'll miss you but you make us proud okay, remember appearance is everything" her mothers words left a slight chill, letting go Mia made her way towards her fathers car as he waited outside smiling at her she got closer and opening the car door to get her to sit down so they could going it was a long drive after all 3 states away, so it was a full weekend road trip
the fact her father was taking her personally really suprised her he was almost always working keeping up the family name and doing business with investors and always looking to open new restaurants he barely had time for family unless it meant improving his own status or to make them come with for parties and fancy events so the idea of him taking nearly 3 days off just to take her to college was astonishing.
the trip was suprisingly great, it was like old times for them singing long to any good songs on the radio and talking about anything and everything sharing stories and memories of childhood and recent years reminiscing on good times and a few bad ones too but overall the drive wasn't bad.
finally arriving at campus Mia sat watching the window looking at the new place with curiosity and excitement a new chapter in her life was about to begin, something she was so ready for change.
waving her father off as he left the campus she stood surrounded by boxes and a new found excitement grabbing all she could and heading into the building ahead of her, singing in and receiving her room number a single dorm nothing big and fancy but it was hers and it was home for now unlocking the door and taking it all in this was it everything she had worked for led to this moment.
first things first this place needed cleaning, it was dusty and bit grim really so grabbing a sweeping brush and starting with that she opened the window letting fresh air and a slight breeze, headphones on blasting her favourite tunes and dancing around as she cleaned, in no time she'd managed to clean everything down and start unpacking her things putting fresh sheets on the bed with her childhood teddy bear, a small blue elephant placed directly in the middle by the pillows and then putting the rug she brought down too.
it was starting to feel cosy once her lights and posters were up it'd be perfect finally taking a short break after everything, she sat down turning her headphones off and sipping sweet raspberry tea her absolute favourite of course, taking it all in once more this was it her new beginning a chance to find herself and discover so much more, classes didn't start for a few weeks so she had time to explore the campus and local city.
it had been a few days since she moved in and she was running out of groceries and other essentials so deciding to go to the shop off she went, grabbing her bags and keys she locked the door behind her and made her way into the city she hadn't explored much feeling a little homesick but finally getting out she was feeling better, following google maps to get to the supermarket not wanting to get too lost.
walking her way through the city felt amazing, excitement filled her as she made her way past skyscrapers and offices as well as high end hotels and department stores, a few small shops in between she noticed a particular cute cafe it was covered in vines on the walls and wild flowers grew in the shop window, the inside had perfectly spaced tables and chairs and the most adorable collection of random mugs used for customers staying inside the whole place looked adorable and super cosy, she made a note to come back when she had the chance and continued on her way to the shop.
the city seemed to never end as she walked on passing all kinds of different establishments and people doing their own thing she assumed some where off to work or meetings, others just enjoying a day off or going to school, she was always fascinated by the difference in lives from once person to the next you never really know what's happening in their life but it's intriguing none the less.
turning the corner and finally arriving at her destination the supermarket, pulling out her list she got a cart and made her inside the building, feeling slightly overwhelmed by the large advertisements hanging from the ceiling all for various things but ignoring all that she started her shopping in the produce looking at all the different vegetables and fruits only picking up the best ones along with teaching her the business side of things her father had also taught her to cook so she was quite talented in that scene.
making her way through the aisles grabbing things that was on her list as she sees them, ticking it off as she goes on stopping very once in awhile to look for specific items or products, finishing up she made her to the tills unloading her shopping on the conveyer belt and walking towards the cashier with a smile, politely thanking them as they begin to scan everything and she put it back in the cart for now to organize them later, thanking the cashier once more as she pays and walks to the side putting everything into bags before leaving and putting the cart back in the bay and making her way back to the dorms, pulling out her phone to guide her way once more.
coming back to her dorm and dropping the bags in front of the door as she fumbled around her purse to find the keys, she finally met her neighbour a young woman around the same age with her curly hair in space buns and bisexual flag bracelet on her wrist she was wearing black and white vans and blue overalls with a pink and white stripped top underneath showing.
she had to pull her gaze away to stop herself from staring any longer, everything about this girl just seemed exciting, the way she dressed and presented herself the way she just screamed confidence and not mention how gorgeous this girl was with the cutest little freckles littering across her face and her round glasses capturing her eyes perfectly.
"oh hey, I'm Emma just moved in today how are you?" so mystery girl was Emma god even her name was perfect for her Mia stumbled to find words for a second blushing slightly putting her head down before looking up to meet eye contact with her, "hi, sorry I-uhm I'm Mia nice to meet you" stuttering slightly but quickly re gaining herself she responded maintaining the eye contact.
"yeah, it's nice to meet you too we should hang out sometime" Emma said turning sightly to face Mia more giving herself a more open posture "yeah totes sounds good, I should get these inside so I'll talk to you later?" Mia said while bending down to grab her shopping bags having opened the door as the two were talking, "sure thing cya" Emma waved bye before heading down the corridor.
watching her leave before entering her own apartment Mia immediately fell to the floor dropping the bags and quietly hating herself for how awkward she made that "goddd what's wrong with me, why did I say totes who even says that" sighing and standing back up she started to unpack all her shopping getting everything where it was to go and boiling the kettle to make her favourite tea while getting changed into baggy clothing and chilling out for the rest of the day taking a break.
later in the early evening she started to cook dinner for that night deciding to make spaghetti and meatballs with her own secret recipe tomato sauce to go with she started cooking the pasta and mixing herbs and spices into the meat before cooking those in a pan and adding the sauce before finally plating up, she realized to late she had to much.
trying to be friendly she grabbed a plate and dished up another plating it neatly and presenting it perfectly like she had been taught before heading to the corridor and hesitantly knocking on Emma's door the girl opened it slightly surprised to see her there.
"oh hey, can I help you?" her voice soft and sweet almost addictive, Mia quickly held up the plate "uhh I made to much so wanted to give you some, its okay if you don't want but I just know moving in is a pain and it's busy so uh yeah" she spoke almost too quickly but Emma had heard every word clearly her heart warming at the gesture and kindness "thank you so much, yeah it has been a long day, I gotta say this looks great you make it yourself?" she questioned taking the plate handed to her from Mia's hands.
"yes, all homemade except the pasta I didn't want to do too much but i hope you enjoy anyways I'll see you later" Mia started to walk back to her own dorm waving bye to Emma as she opened the door and went to sit down to enjoy her own meal.
it was late in the night but Mia wasn't able to sleep, tossing and turning in her bed unsure why but she couldn't get Emma out of her head everything about her seemed so interesting, and she wanted to know everything about her not missing a single detail she wanted to know the little things like how she takes her tea and her hobbies and just anything she could.
she couldn't explain it but something about this girl just made her feel so ughh she didn't know how to explain it but it was exhilarating and she wanted more and she wanted to explore this whatever it was she wasn't sure she knew that Emma was no ordinary person.
