Re: Assignment Codename Fishbones
Agent - We have received intelligence that the international terrorist and thief Jinx is targeting the exhibition at the Piltover Museum. Apprend, but we need her alive. Full network extent unknown. Use your discretion on the execution of this assignment.
Illuminator agent Luxanna Crownguard cracked a grim smile. It was about time they gave her a crack at the notorious Jinx. The so-called "Loose Cannon," an international thief and terrorist who had been distrupting peace negotiations, massive drug shipments, and high profile arms shipments. Taking her down was the only thing that the cartels and Interpol would ever actually agree on, and now that assignment had fallen into Lux's lap. She relished the challenge. As she relayed her confirmation, she began planning all the traps she would lay in order to catch her quarry.
Jinx was bored. She had even tried some of her favorite things, like assassinating a dictator who had said mean things about her and blowing up a bus station where she had tasted some particularly subpar. Nothing was working. Maybe that's why she had decided to try her had at art theft. Her paintings would look so much better in those spots anyway. All those hoity toity art pieces that normies like were so plain and drab! They needed some really color! And maybe, if she was lucky, she could slip the information to the right person and they would send someone new to play with her. Hopefully better than the last playmate they sent.
"Sorry, Chuck," Jinx whispered to herself, making a note to send some Venus flytraps to the home where Agent Thierem was recovering.
Lux had prepped everything. She knew there was only one window of that the painting would be transfered, the only time a thief could strike. Her team had been assembled, briefed, and the security was ready to go. The museum loomed out of the growing darkness before her, daring anyone to try to upset it's order, with Lux as it's instrument. As she gazed up at it though, something seemed off. Despite her meticulous preparation, it felt like she had left a loose end somewhere. When this feeling persisted, she decided to go investigate. She went through her checks and double-checks, starting with top of the building. As soon as she shone her light around the roof, she caught movement. Trusting her gut that this was more than just a raccoon who was very lost, she broke into a sprint in pursuit. Rounding the corner, past the HVAC system, she nearly tripped over a figure kneeling over a skylight. With reflexes trained to the point they were automatic, Lux attempted to grapple the person to the ground. To her surprise, they didn't resist at all. Lux took in the long blue braids, the crop top, the striped pants, and it hit her. She might have actually caught Jinx.
Just as soon as this realization hit her, she felt a jerk on her arms and suddenly she was flailing at empty air, and Jinx was standing over her. This woman, wanted in dozens of countries and public enemy number one of both the law and organized crime, was standing over her and smirking.
"Well, well, well, well, well," Jinx rasped, "you nearly got me! And on your first try! Called my bluff and everything. Smart cookie, Blondie. You're gonna be fun to play with!"
With that, Jinx vanished into the night, leaving Lux very confused. She was confident about one thing though. This was not over between her and Jinx, and next time, the thief would not get away so easily.
