Wei Wuxian was an active figure in the beginning years of Lan Sizhui's life. If anyone had to ask the younger Omega any questions, he was able to answer them swiftly, telling stories about the poor older Omega who used to bury him in the dirt when he was three years old.
Lan Sizhui remembered the radishes clearly. He even remembered the scent of lotuses and lilies, the comforting scent that belonged to Wei Wuxian as he scented him in burial mounds. He had once forgotten it due to him being sick but he was glad he remembered now. The older Omega loved him and used to scent him as he did now when he was in distress. He also loved the older Omega who allowed him to chew on Chenqing in his younger years.
Lan Sizhui was glad he had his Wei-Ge back into his life again and he knew Hanguang-Jun did too. He would never forget the scent of sadness that Hanguang-jun once emitted when he played enquiry everyday in search of the only Omega he ever loved. The Alpha who was also his father figure who was once in deep pain also found time to love and care for him. These two men were his fathers, biological or not.
Growing up in the Lan Sect, Lan Sizhui was afraid to have friends. There weren't many disciples willing to play with him because he knew they knew of his origin. There was one boy though who never cared about that. Five year old Jingyi at the time was a force to be reckoned with. He was nothing like a dignified Lan Clan member.
If he was teased, Lan Sizhui often had to help break up fights so Jingyi wouldn't get into trouble. The young boy never cared though and would write the rules he had to copy only to get into trouble again. Lan Jingyi was an avid rule breaker in his younger years.
He was loud and sometimes miserable and as Lan Sizhui's memories came back, he reminded him a lot of his Wei-Ge.
Growing up so closely, Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi could not be separated. Even as they turned sixteen and their second genders were known, he remembered when the talk came up that they had to be separated from sleeping in the same rooms.
Lan Sizhui could still remember the day. It was relatively normal during the day when they were firstly made to stay in different rooms. As night came, however, and it was time to sleep, Sizhui could not.
It was a blur, that night but he vaguely remembered panicking, voices warbly and faces not so clear as he was surrounded. He barely heard a voice saying, ‘we cannot separate them’ and that was the end of it. Everything went dark.
Sizhui remembered waking up that morning, his frantic Omega father immediately by his side when his eyes fluttered open. “A’ Yuan, my dear radish,” Wei Wuxian's voice was soft and he even saw tears brimming the eyes of the Omega. “You scared us greatly.”
A doctor was summoned and even as he worked to see if everything was alright with Sizhui, Wei Wuxian never left his side. His scent remained in the air and he even smelled traces of sandalwood on the Omega. His Alpha father was here too.
Wei Wuxian's fingers continued to thread through his hair, even as the doctor finished his examination and moved elsewhere. Sizhui barely saw the man conversing with his Alpha father and his uncle. He only now realised Lan Xichen was present too.
When the doctor left, Wei Wuxian helped Sizhui sit up. The doors to the room they were in opened for a split second and quickly after, Lan Xichen had a tray in his hands. Wei Wuxian took the water and helped Sizhui to drink.
After a moment of silence, the younger Omega asked, “what happened?” The three men shared a look amongst each other. Lan Xichen was the one to speak.
“It seems as if you have recognised Jingyi as your Alpha, Sizhui. You dropped after we had to make a decision to separate you two because of your statuses.”
Hearing the words ‘your alpha’ and ‘Jingyi’ in one sentence, a deep flush decorated the cheeks of the younger Omega. Wei Wuxian, who was concerned at first, couldn't help but chuckle softly. He placed the empty cup onto the tray that was now on a side table, to gently scent his son.
“A’ Yuan, we were expecting this but we weren't expecting the drop. You and Jingyi don't exactly hide your affection towards each other,” Wei Wuxian continued to tease him. Lan Sizhui made a soft noise, laying back onto the pillow to hide his face in the white sheets. Were they really that obvious?
“Come on, you can't hide forever,” Wei Wuxian's voice was heard from above him. Lan Sizhui begged to differ. He only wished the earth could open up and swallow him whole at this point in time.
Finding comfort in the sheets for sometime, Lan Sizhui eventually had to leave just as his Baba said. He heard the soft voice of his Alpha father. “Yuan,” he called for him.
Peeking out from under the sheets, Sizhui saw a slight smile on Hanguang-Jun’s face. “Yes, Hanguang-jun?” He acknowledged his father.
“We made the decision to keep you and Jingyi together,” Lan Wangji said seriously, looking at his son.
His brother who was still there nodded in agreement. “Two Betas will share the room with you and Jingyi to keep your scents controlled. This will also prevent any… mishaps from taking place.”
Sizhui blushed at those words.
“Anyways, enough of this talk,” Wei Wuxian stood up from his spot beside Sizhui. “Jingyi was worried sick about you, little radish. I know he is waiting to see how you are doing.”
Lan Xichen quickly sent someone to get Jingyi. When the Alpha arrived, he frantically rushed into the room to see how Sizhui was doing.
Seeing the pair immersed in conversation, Xichen, Wangji and Wuxian decided to leave them alone. However, Wangji stood guard by the door on the outside. After all, Jingyi and Sizhui were an Alpha and Omega pair interested in each other. They were also only 16 at this point in time.
Wei Wuxian could see these two would need monitoring now and in the near future.
Now in the present time, six years later, many people often still teased him and Jingyi as they continued to do everything together. Jingyi would sometimes fret, asking those who teased them what the issue was that they were together. ‘Why? Is it because we are Alpha and Omega? So what?!' Sizhui often had to drag him away from those disciples.
In reality, who were they kidding? Everyone knew they liked one another and they themselves knew too, even before their second genders made an apperance. They shared one too many kisses, sometimes making it to the base where they scented each other. They often had to stop before anything more transpired.
Lan Sizhui was a beautiful being and not only Lan Jingyi noticed. He saw how others would stare at Sizhui as some did to his Wei-Qianbei. He knew that Hanguang-Jun did not like those stares and he could only assume what would happen after Lan Wangji dragged his husband away, if the marks littering Wei Wuxian's neck was anything to go by.
Except he could not drag Sizhui away. Sure, they liked each other but Sizhui was not his. They were not married so Sizhui was free to like someone else. Lan Jingyi would stew in his jealousy.
But he couldn't.
He wanted to be able to drag Sizhui away and mark his skin as Hanguang-Jun did Wei-Qianbei. He wanted to give the Omega, his Omega he would think to himself, children. He wanted to love him in public and not just be labeled as a friend. Lan Jingyi wanted Lan Sizhui to bear his mark and to proudly hold his headband.
Lan Jingyi made up his mind. Although nervous, he knew what he wanted. Maybe he could talk to Hanguang-Jun and Wei-Qianbei first.

Jingyi stood in front of the Jingshi's doors, a deep sigh leaving him as he raised his hands. He couldn't believe what he was about to do but he had to do this.
He knocked and it wasn't long before the doors slid open. He was greeted by a cheerful Wei Wuxian, a three year old grabbing onto his leg with a smile just as large on her face.
“Jingyi-Gege!” She exclaimed, quickly moving from Wuxian to hold onto Jingyi. Jingyi lifted her into his arms with a smile.
“Hello, A’ Xue,” Jingyi greeted the toddler with a smile. Lixue giggled, resting her head on his shoulder as he talked to her Baba.
“What brings you to the Jingshi, Jingyi? Oh! Lan Zhan and the rest of you are going on a night hunt tonight right? He's inside if you need to speak to him.”
Jingyi quickly shook his head, resting Lan Lixue back onto her feet. The little girl ran inside of her parents’ home.
“I actually wanted to talk to you and Hanguang-Jun about something different, Wei-Qianbei,” said Jingyi, a nervous expression showing on his face. Wei Wuxian tilted his head in slight confusion. It was rare to see Jingyi acting in such a way. Sure, he was usually composed around Lan Wangji since he wanted to impress the man but even so, Jingyi was still his usual unruly and miserable self when he was ready. A nervous Jingyi was strange to Wei Wuxian.
Noticing the change, Wei Wuxian didn't tease him. Instead, the Omega nodded in understanding, mouth in the shape of an ‘o’ and his brows furrowed. “Oh, okay. Come inside.”
Jingyi stepped inside, sliding the doors closed behind him. “Lan Zhan, Jingyi said he wanted to speak with us,” the Alpha who was sitting at his study with Lixue in his lap, raised his head. He looked at Jingyi for a few seconds, eyes trailing down to the floor beneath the younger man's feet.
“Mm,” Lan Wangji hummed in understanding. Wei Wuxian skipped over to his husband and sat beside him. Lixue crawled into his lap, resting her head on her Baba's chest.
“Have a seat, Jingyi,” Lan Wangji invited. Jingyi startled a bit when he realised Hanguang-Jun was talking to him but the young Alpha quickly walked over to the two men, sitting down in front of them.
Looking at these two, Jingyi only became more nervous. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian had a rough start of life but they overcame all of those battles. Even when Wei Wuxian thought he wasn't going to be accepted into the Lan Sect, he still followed his husband home.
Wei Wuxian proudly wore the Lan robes as he showed he was worth it for Hanguang-Jun. He wanted a love like that with Sizhui. He could only hope they accepted his proposal today.
“What makes you so nervous, Jingyi?” Wei Wuxian questioned after a moment of silence. Jingyi took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts before he began to speak.
“Wei-Qianbei, Hanguang-Jun, I,” he paused, having to compose himself. “I came to you two today because I wanted your blessings to marry Sizhui.”
Lan Jingyi stared at the two men, becoming more nervous when they didn't speak. In reality, it was only a couple of seconds of silence but to Jingyi that felt like an eternity. The Alpha began to ramble.
“I really love him and I know I can take care of him. I promise I won't hurt him. I would hurt myself if I did that. Hanguang-Jun, Wei-Qianbei, I really hope that I can receive your blessing to marry your son today. I haven't proposed to him yet but-,” seeing the shivers wracking through the younger Alpha's body, Lan Wangji held forward, placing a hand on Jingyi's shoulder, immediately silencing him.
“Jingyi, calm down,” Wei Wuxian laughed, placing a hand to his mouth in an attempt to hide the soft sounds. He patted a now sleeping Lixue's head since the young girl stirred.
“Of course you have my blessing. A’ Yuan loves you and we know you love him. Everyone can see that anyhow and we know you will take care of him. You already do.”
Lan Wangji nodded once, agreeing with the words of his husband. “Sizhui loves the spring. A wedding during that time will be more than pleasing to him.”
Hearing those statements from the adoptees of Lan Sizhui, Jingyi only looked at the two of them. As their words settled in his mind, Jingyi brought a hand to his mouth in shock. “Y-You mean, I mean, I can marry Sizhui?!” He asked and even Lan Wangji had to hold his head down to hide his amusement.
“Of course, Jingyi. Why are you so shocked? Unless you are not right for him?” Wei Wuxian ended up teasing him eventually. Jingyi quickly shook his head.
“Yeah, I am! Only me!” He quickly exclaimed, only to be scolded by Wei Ying as he brought a finger to his lips. He looked down at Lixue to make sure she was still asleep.
After a while, Wei Wuxian could only laugh to himself. Ah, Lan Jingyi reminded him a lot of Hanguang-Jun when it came to claiming someone as his own. Hopefully, Jingyi wasn't as possessive and would allow his little radish to rest when the time came.
Receiving Sizhui's parents' blessings was enough for Jingyi. The younger Alpha talked to them for a bit longer but he had something important to do. Lan Jingyi quickly got up from his seat.
He went to run through the doors of the Jingshi but quickly caught himself. Lan Jingyi bowed deeply, hands in front of him to show his respect to Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji.
"Thank you for your blessings!" He stated, more confident than he was when he first came. Lan Wangji nodded with a slight smile and Wei Wuxian giggled softly.
"You're welcome, Jingyi. Now go on, go and make my little radish happy."
Lan Jingyi smiled wildly, running out of the Jingshi to go and find Sizhui. He was well aware that no running was allowed in Cloud Recesses but who cared? He had to find Sizhui and he had to find him now.
The night hunt was tonight, so he could only assume Sizhui was feeding the rabbits. Lan Jingyi even tripped over himself as he ran, ignoring the looks of other disciples as they watched him in shock.
Eventually making it to the clearing where the rabbits were, Lan Jingyi did indeed see Sizhui. "Sizhui!" The young Alpha exclaimed, causing the Omega to raise his head. Sizhui waved a hand, standing up to greet Jingyi.
"Jingyi, I was wondering-," the Omega barely got his words out as Jingyi ran toward him, holding his cheeks in his hand to place a tender kiss on his lips.
Lan Sizhui held back in shock, eyes searching Jingyi's own quickly. "J-Jingyi, we are out in public," he whispered as if someone was around listening to them. Jingyi only laughed, shaking his head without a care in the world.
"Who cares who see?" He questioned and Sizhui could see he was serious, despite the amusing expression on his face. "I want to marry you, Lan Sizhui, Wen Yuan. I want you to be my husband."
Sizhui's eyes opened widely, the Omega stumbling on his words. "Jingyi, you-, I mean, are you serious?"
The Alpha laughed as he said, "serious as Hanguang-Jun."
Sizhui chuckled softly, the sounds eventually growing loud in volume as he nodded. "Yes, yes! I will marry you, Lan Jingyi."
This time, it was the Omega who surged forward, kissing his Alpha with all that he had. Jingyi tripped over his robes, falling onto the ground below them. The rabbits moved out of the way to avoid the impact.
Jingyi did not feel any pain. The only thing he felt was the happiness surging through him as his Omega, yes his Omega, accepted his proposal. The love that poured out in the kiss was all he needed. He loved Lan Sizhui and Lan Sizhui loved him.
That sounded more than pleasing to his ears.

“Ahh! Lan Zhan! My baby is getting married in spring and is going to leave us!” Wei Wuxian dramatically cried, holding onto Sizhui as he sat in the Jingshi to have tea with them. Lan Lixue was nibbling on her fingers as she watched the encounter between her Omega father and older brother.
Lan Wangji sighed, pulling Wei Wuxian from suffocating Sizhui. The younger Omega was laughing nervously.
“Wei Ying,” began Wangji as he hugged the crying Omega. Wei Wuxian was holding onto him tightly and still crying, tears soaking his pristine white clothes. "Yuan is still going to be in Cloud Recesses.”
Wei Wuxian sniffled, holding back to look at his husband. He wiped his eyes from the flowing tears. “R-Really?” Lan Wangji sighed once more. His husband was truly forgetful.
“Mm.”
The Omega swallowed, a pout on his face as he looked between his husband and son. “But where will he stay? Our married baby cannot sleep in the disciples’ quarters.
Lan Wangji had to shake his head because both he and Wei Wuxian already made plans. They didn't get to tell Sizhui as yet but might as well now since his Wei Ying was being forgetful.
“We had a house built for Sizhui and Jingyi, Wei Ying,” Lan Sizhui had to whip his head around as he heard his Alpha father's words. He was not aware of this.
“Really?!” Both he and Wei Wuxian said in unison. Lan Wangji nodded, mostly to Sizhui.
“Mm, the Baishi is located on the East Side of Gusu.” Ah, no wonder Lan Sizhui didn't see it. The Jingshi was the last main clan house built so no one even ventured further than that. Still, he was surprised at the words.
The Omega stood up, eyes beginning to fill with water as he held forward in a deep bow. “Thank you, Wei-Qianbei, Hanguang-jun,” he said softly. Wei Wuxian who now remembered about the Baishi smiled softly at his son, though his eyes were still wet with tears. Lan Wangji wore a soft smile as well.
“Anything for our little radish,” murmured Wei Wuxian. “And call me Baba, will you? Come here.”
Lan Sizhui did not hesitate as he fell into the arms of his parents. The Omega laughed as he was so thankful for these people who raised him like he was their own. Even Lan Lixue who watched the entire encounter giggled, holding onto her family all the same.
As they held back from the embrace, Wei Wuxian looked at his son seriously. “A’ Yuan,” he pouted and the younger Omega hummed to let him know he was listening. “I'm too young for grandkids. Look! I'm now having children! What if we ended up having a kid at the same time? Lan Zhan, we had our little radish here a bit too early.” Wei Wuxian rambled on and on, causing Lan Sizhui to laugh and Lan Wangji to look at him lovingly.
Lan Yuan looked at his Omega father, nervously scratching his head. “I can't make any promises Baba. Lixue may be an aunt at four.”
Wei Wuxian pondered the words, then as they processed the Omega opened his mouth in shock. “A’ Yuan, what do you mean by that?” When Lan Sizhui remained silent, hellbent on scaring his father, Wei Wuxian got up and pointed a finger again.
“Lan Zhan! Did you hear him? Has Jingyi already plucked our precious flower?!” Lan Sizhui was silently laughing at the words of his Omega father. Lan Wangji could only sigh for the umpteenth time for the day.
“Where is Chenqing?! Lan Jingyi, I am coming for you!” The day ended with Lan Sizhui having to keep his father at bay, promising him that nothing of the sort occurred.
Wei Wuxian wasn't too sure he believed that, however.
