Cobalt Effervescence

Summary:

Five Pebbles had met a strange green thing in the snow, and it put him in the most unusual state.
His mind was split in two. One half in an iterator puppet, drifting aimlessly through space
And one in a harmless slugcat, stranded in his superstructure and sent back to the moment of his creation

Notes:

For those of you unfamiliar with cobalt core, it only becomes relevant to the rain world portion of the storyline in chapter four, and only starts getting into what could be considered heavy spoilers as of chapter 15

Chapter 1: ‘Kill Your Darlings’ is a weak mindset

Summary:

I wanted to make more rain world fanfiction after i finished apropos of nothing. I also wanted to make cobalt core fanfiction.
This is how i reconciled those two ideas

Notes:

the chapter title does not reflect my actual beliefs, and is utilizing the narrative tool of “sarcasm”. Please do not cancel me on twittex

Chapter Text

Little by little, the storm calmed, and I could hear the music again.

Or at least, I thought I could. It was hard to tell what was present and past with this little processing power.

One way or another, whenever this was, I was glad the wind finally slowed. I wasn't sure if it ever would.

I wonder if this is the first time it's calmed or the thousandth.

A vague memory tells me I’ve asked that question before

Suddenly, a portion of the center of what I saw turned green. Some long forgotten instinct redirected energy to my cameras to focus the image and I could tell the foreign object was moving slowly.

“Little green friend. Hello.” Did I say that? I suppose I must have.

The friend, whoever they were, moved upwards. Were they climbing something?

The music stopped

Something in my chest felt warm.

Something in my mind snapped

For a fraction of an instant from my perspective, I could see infinity

I was infinity

And then, as if nothing had happened

And then, as if nothing had happened

I was in two places at once

I was in two places at once
