Chapter Text
Shadow Milk sat alone in his spire. Well, the remains of it anyways. After Pure Vanilla and friends had frankly beat the shit out of him, the spire had collapsed and Shadow Milk, Black Sapphire and Candy Apple were forced to flee.
But, Shadow Milk couldn’t help but occasionally return to the rubble. It was easier to think in the place he once called home. His mind reeled, thinking back on all the events that had transpired…
The offer Pure Vanilla had made.
Bullshit.
Shadow Milk snorted to himself, sitting on a collapsed staircase.
”Friends” oh please, as if I would ever but that kind of crap from that lying cookie!!!
Shadow Milk leapt up from his seat, only to float through the air, pacing on it as if he were on the ground.
“RIDICULOUS!!!” He threw his hands up in the air dramatically. “First, I get my soul jam removed by those traitorous witches!! Then I GET LOCKED AWAY FOR COOKIES KNOW HOW LONG!!! And then…AND THEN WHEN I WAKE UP, NOT ONLY DOES THAT VANILLA BITCH GET TO STEAL MY SOULJAM, BUT HE ENDS UP STEALING MY POWERS TOO!!!”
Shadow Milk slammed his fist against the wall, causing it to crack. His eyes shook with pure rage. It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair at all!! What did the oh so holy Pure Vanilla do to deserve HIS powers!? Powers stolen from someone else.
Shadow Milk Cookie wanted revenge. And by the witches, he would have it.
And so, Shadow Milk got to thinking. He couldn’t just let Pure Vanilla get away!! Vanilla had stolen from him, and then mockingly offered Shadow Milk his hand!!! The sheer disrespect made Shadow Milk’s skin crawl with rage. He needed a plan to take it all back.
He marched out of the spire’s remains in frustration, trying his best to come up with any idea. He still had his powers, yes, but they were weak after the battle. He couldn’t even conjure a portal, Black Sapphire had to do that for him!!
He will pay for humiliating me like this..
Shadow Milk huffed, making his fists. His grand illusions of revenge almost making him miss the sudden chirping sound from above.
The fuck..?
He looked up, only to see a round blueberry bird fluttering through the forest, from tree to tree. The kind of bird Pure Vanilla always had around him..
THAT BITCH!!!
Shadow Milk ducked back into the spire, observing through a crack in the wall. Surely, surely this bird was sent by Pure Vanilla himself!! Sending an animal to do his work for him. And for what?! So the bird can amuse him with detailed descriptions of spire remains?! The remains of Shadow Milks HOME?!
And then it dawned on him. Pure Vanilla loved animals. Shadow Milk blinked, a smile creeping across his lips. He would be weakened if he did it…But. It would be worth it. The perfect way to spy on that stupid cookie up close!!!

Pure Vanilla sat outside the palace of the Vanilla Kingdom, settled in his garden of sleeping vanilla orchids, blooming lilies, and…Milk crowns.
He sat outside his garden pavilion, curiously stirring at the small pond beside it as a sheep lay snoring nearby. Blueberry birds fluttering about, gathering around Pure Vanilla and staring at his reflection in the water.
The sight sickened Shadow Milk nearly to his core.
There he sat, the great Shadow Milk Cookie, in the form of a black bird perched upon a tree. Sure, his plan was a bit risky, but he needed this. He needed to get close to Pure Vanilla. To destroy him.
That would take time, of course. Nothing he could accomplish in a matter of minutes. But if he wanted his souljam back, he needed to do this.
Pure Vanilla never would lock an animal up in the palace, but if Shadow Milk wanted to get close to him, he needed Pure Vanilla to take him inside.
So he sat on the branch, pondering how to pull that off. And then it dawned on him. Pure Vanilla was powerful now, yes. But wielding the power of both Truth and Deceit wasn’t easy with years of practice. And Pure Vanilla has only had these powers for like what, a month? Surely even healing would be a tad difficult for him right now…
Shadow Milk blinked and looked down at the gardens. Pure Vanilla had turned his gaze to him.
He doesn’t know, does he?! I thought for sure I masked my presence!!!
Shadow Milk screamed internally. He can’t be found out, not so soon!!
But, Pure Vanilla didn’t seem to recognize him as the Cookie of Deceit as all, and instead held out a handful of seeds, beckoning the black bird to come and eat.
Perfect.
Shadow Milk flew down, feigning difficulty as he toppled through the air haphazardly, purposefully knocking himself into a few blueberry birds on his way down, leading to chirps of annoyance. Pure Vanilla’s staff eye widened.
“Oh you poor thing..!” Pure Vanilla gasped, gently catching the black bird with his other hand. He sat back carefully, bringing his seed filled hand up to Shadow Milk’s beak.
Shadow Milk paused for a moment, looking up at Pure Vanilla with gleeful malice as he began pecking at the seeds. This is going better than expected…The fool even called me over!!!
Pure Vanilla sighed watching the bird eat. The bird was pure black, but when the sunlight hit its feathers just right, they shined a sort of blueberry blue color.
“You poor little thing…If I had better control over my healing right now, I could fix you right up..!!” Vanilla poured, carefully petting the bird on the head.
So he can’t heal after all~..
“I’ll…I’ll just take you inside with me, little one!!” Pure Vanilla brightened up at the idea, grabbing his staff and using it to stand up, the black bird perched on his finger.
Yes!!!!
Shadow Milk couldn’t help but internally jump with glee. This is going better than expected!! All I need to do is bide my time, and my souljam will be mine!!!
He chirped happily to himself, unable to contain his malicious excitement as he stared at the light blue gem on Pure Vanilla’s chest. So painfully close.
