Chapter Text
The ceiling was white.
It was the type of not-really-white white—the sort paint companies sell off as white, but which is actually a light, bluish-grey that evokes the image of a lot of anaesthetic, sweat, and isopropyl alcohol.
Drip.
The sterile smell was pungent, to say the least.
Drip.
The leather restraints were biting into long-numb skin.
Drip.
Something was beeping in the distance, mostly drowned out by the dripping of the IV fluid.
Drip.
A loud crash—the door, probably—and then everything went up in bright lights.
Something had moved through the door, a black splotch of color, and gone up to that hard hospital bed. The roar of something pushed through ringing ears, and an object was shoved in the woman's face. Words were spoken, a jumble of muffled sounds and the impossibly loud shouts that followed them.
Her vision tilted just enough to spot the watercolor blue of a nurse pushing past the mass of black, yelling and shouting and putting a gloved hand closer towards her face.
Everything went black, and then the white pain was ebbing away.
Moments later, the bed shook, the wheels squeaking as they turned.
The flashing light was back again, followed by a protesting yell. Through muddled thoughts and blurred glimpses, eventually, the object shoved in her numb face became clear. Reeking of metal and sweat, in front of her was a microphone. Another flash of light, and her eyes were forced to readjust, slowly and painfully.
"...iss (L/n)...!"
"...iss-!"
"Yo-...annot...-e here!" The voice of the nurse rang closer than before.
Beep.
There was a beeping in the distance.
Beep.
The leather restraints were digging into slowly-feeling skin.
Beep.
Everything moved too slowly.
Beep.
Something was pounding against her bruised ribcage.
Beep.
It was beginning to get oh so hard to breathe.
Then everything went dark again.
