Day Court

Summary:

Azriel, the brooding spymaster of the Night Court, finds himself reluctantly attending Helion's infamous annual party—a scandalous event better known for its debauchery and indulgence than diplomacy. When the rest of the Inner Circle conveniently backs out, Azriel is left to navigate the chaos alone. But amidst the overwhelming crowd and sultry atmosphere, his dark demeanor catches the eye of Helion’s fiery and sharp-tongued advisor.

Sneak peak:

“Helion has an entire scheme to seduce you tonight,” she said with a dramatic flair, her grin widening. “Pity—you’ll break his heart.”

That earned a low chuckle from Azriel, surprising even himself. “From what I’ve heard, you don’t smile or laugh. You’re not living up to your scary shadow reputation,” she teased, her eyes dancing with amusement as she caught sight of the faint dimple in his cheek.

“It’s something I’ll have to work on,” he replied dryly, though his tone was lighter than usual. Her hand shifted, her fingers now tracing along his thigh, her movements slow and deliberate.

“Yes, a little more scary and murderous would do the trick,” she teased, arching a brow.

Chapter Text

Azriel stood quietly at the edge of Helion’s party, his sharp gaze sweeping over the chaos around him. He wondered how long he’d need to stay to make it seem like the Night Court had been properly represented. Helion’s yearly party was infamous, celebrated for its debauchery. To most, it was the ultimate indulgence, but to Azriel, it was hell. A giant orgy.

Cassian and Rhysand had usually been the ones to join in, and occasionally even Mor, but now that both Rhysand and Cassian were mated, neither had shown any interest in attending this time. Well, Cassian had *suggested* coming with Nesta, but she’d shut him up with a sharp smack to the back of his head.

Azriel was far from uncomfortable with sex—he was confident in his abilities, and he preferred things a little rough. But this? Public displays and wild orgies were not his style. He valued privacy, and the drunken chaos of fae clinging to one another in groups of two, three, or five made him feel restless. He would never judge what others enjoyed, but this was far from something he’d ever take part in. Still, he stayed, standing apart from the crowd, his shadows curling around him as if they, too, wanted to retreat from the frenzy.

As Azriel stood at the edge of Helion’s party, his sharp gaze took in the surreal and wild scene unfolding before him. The air was thick with a mix of intoxicating scents—exotic flowers, sweet wines, and the musk of aroused fae. The grand hall was adorned with flickering candles and glimmering fairy lights, casting eerie, dancing shadows on the walls.

In one corner, a group of fae stood around a massive, ornately carved table, their bodies intertwined in a mesh of limbs and soft moans. Above them, a chandelier hung, its crystals seemingly writhing and twisting in synchrony with the movements below. Azriel noticed that the crystals themselves were not merely glass, but tiny, levitating fae with iridescent wings, their light refracting through their shimmering bodies.

To his left, a massive fountain bubbled with a liquid that seemed to glow, its scent like fresh berries and warm honey. Faeries immersed themselves in the liquid, their skin alive with glowing patterns that shifted and changed with their pleasure. Azriel watched as a pair emerged from the fountain, their bodies intertwined, the fluid dripping from them like molten gold. They moved towards a nearby divan, where another fae awaited, their eyes drinking in the spectacle.

In another part of the hall, a massive bed suspended above the crowd held more writhing bodies, and strange oils were passed. A grand piano played itself, its melodies haunting and erotic, driven by unseen hands. Above, a ceiling ornate with frescoes showed a painting that seemed to move, fixed in a scene that mirrored the debauchery below.

Azriel’s gaze locked onto her the moment he saw her, as if the chaos of Helion’s party faded into the background. She was stunning—easily the most beautiful fae he’d ever seen. Unlike the others, she was still clothed, laughing at something her friend had said while sipping from a glass of amber liquor. Her small white dress clung to her figure, outlining every perfect curve, and Azriel couldn’t help but notice the faint trace of her nipples, adorned with rings that gleamed beneath the fabric. Gold chains and delicate jewelry adorned her body, shimmering against her skin, while threads of gold hung like decoration. Even her long nails, painted in a vibrant gold hue, exuded effortless confidence.

She was surrounded by a group of males and females, all fawning over her, but she seemed entirely unbothered by their attention. Her aura commanded the space, and Azriel found himself utterly captivated.

Her eyes snapped up suddenly, meeting his gaze with startling precision. For once, Azriel’s shadows had failed him. She winked, her confidence breaking through his guarded demeanor. He was rarely caught staring, yet somehow, she had noticed him.

Raising her hand, she motioned for him to come over with a single finger, a sly smile curving her lips. To his surprise—and perhaps annoyance at himself—his feet moved before his mind could argue. The crowd seemed to part instinctively as he walked toward her, drawn in by something he couldn’t quite place.

Her smile widened as he approached, that dangerous, confident look making his chest tighten. Day Court women, he realized, were unlike anyone else.

She extended her hand, and her voice was as smooth as silk when she introduced herself. Azriel took her hand briefly, his own voice steady as he replied, “Azriel.”

She gestured to the empty seat beside her, patting it lightly. “Not into anything you see?” she asked, motioning to the chaos surrounding them.

“No,” he said flatly, his tone betraying his disinterest. “It’s not for me.”

She tilted her head, studying him with an amused glint in her eyes. “Well, you’re interested in *one* thing,” she teased, taking another sip of her drink.

“And what would that be?” he asked, arching a brow as she shifted her body toward him.

“Me, of course,” she said with a sly grin that left him momentarily stunned by her boldness.

“Well, you seem to have your pick,” he replied, striving to keep his composure.

Her smile deepened, her confidence unwavering. “Azriel, do you like parties?”

“I like Bars,” he said simply.

She waved over a waiter and grabbed two drinks from the tray, handing him one. “Well, think of it like you’re at a bar trying to pick up a female,” she said with a nonchalant shrug.

“I said I wasn’t interested in participating in Helion’s party, not that I’m incapable of picking up a female,” he corrected, taking a sip of the drink she had handed him.

Her laugh was soft and mischievous. “Oh, I’m sure you have no trouble in that department,” she replied, her smirk returning.

“So why did you come?” she asked, tilting her head curiously.

“The rest are busy—or newly mated,” he admitted, and she nodded knowingly.

“So they sent their spymaster?” she said, her laugh chiming like bells. “Seems a bit out of your wheelhouse.”

He chuckled, her humor disarming him more than he expected. “So you know who I am. And what is it you do for Helion?”

“Shouldn’t a spymaster already know that?” she teased, her eyes glinting as his shadows stirred around them, listening to the conversations nearby.

“You’re his advisor,” Azriel stated, his gaze trailing over her again, noticing every subtle detail.

Her lips twitched into a grin as her own eyes roamed over him—his strong jawline, his broad shoulders, and the tension in his frame. He was devastatingly handsome, and she could see he wasn’t as unaffected as he wanted to appear.

“Advisor, babysitter—whatever you want to call it,” she said with a chuckle, her hand casually reaching out to brush a stray piece of lint from his knee. She left her hand there, testing the boundaries, her touch lingering.

“I can imagine,” Azriel said, the corner of his mouth lifting into the faintest of smiles. He leaned closer to her, his usual guarded demeanor slipping. For the first time since he arrived, he barely noticed the moans and chaos echoing around them.

"Helion worked really hard on these...scenes," she said, her tone playful and dripping with mischief. "Pity you're letting them go to waste—both male and female." Her eyes didn’t waver from his, unrelenting and confident. "I get it, though. Don’t like being watched?”

Azriel's jaw tensed slightly, but he answered evenly. “Just female. And I don’t like sharing.” His voice was steady, but the way her fingers began tracing slow patterns on his knee sent a low hum of calm through him.

Her voice was soft, but the challenge in it was clear. He glanced around—the space between them unbothered by the chaos. No one dared approach him; they had seen the weight of his reputation enough to keep their distance. This girl might not be scared but everyone else was.

“I’ll work on that,” he quipped back, his dry humor making her laugh again. Something about her laugh—light and genuine—softened the edges of his tension. Maybe it was the wine, or maybe it was just her, but the words tumbled out before he could stop himself. “You live up to your reputation.”

“Mine?” she asked, her voice dipping into a playful lilt. “Which one?”

“You’re beautiful,” he said simply, his piercing gaze scanning her as if daring her to brush off his words.

Her lips curled into a smirk, but there was a flicker of something else—something deeper in her eyes as she took him in. He was a man of few words, but the way he looked at her spoke volumes.

“Azriel?” she murmured, her voice softer now.

“Yes?” he asked, his tone calm, but there was a thread of heat in it now.

She bit her bottom lip, an almost innocent gesture that was anything but, before swinging her leg over his lap. She settled herself on his thick thighs, her dress hiking slightly as she straddled him.

“You don’t want to join?” she asked, her voice low and teasing, but there was a flicker of curiosity in her eyes.

For a moment, Azriel forgot the noise and the world around them. His large hands threaded through her hair, tangling in the strands as he pulled her toward him.

Their lips met in a feverish kiss, her sigh melting into his as the intensity between them ignited. His lips were surprisingly soft, contrasting with the rough, calloused hands that held her so firmly.

They kissed as if the rest of the party had disappeared, lost in the electricity sparking between them, neither of them noticing—or caring—about the chaos still echoing around them.

Her hands moved slowly, tracing from Azriel's sharp jawline down to his broad, muscular chest. She marveled at the strength beneath her fingertips.

“Oooh, what do we have here?” Helion's teasing voice cut through the moment like a blade.

Azriel’s lips left hers abruptly, the spell between them broken. She whimpered softly at the loss, her cheeks flushing as Helion’s amused gaze flickered between them.

Azriel's large, rough hand slid down to her thigh, giving it a firm squeeze as if grounding himself back into reality. His sapphire gaze darted around, taking in the scene once more.

She held her breath, worried she'd gone too far. Maybe this was too much, too fast. But she couldn’t help it—he’d been the most interesting part of this ridiculous party.

“I was just leaving,” Azriel stated flatly, his deep voice carrying no hint of the emotions she hoped were there. Her heart sank at his words, disappointment settling heavy in her chest.

“Oooh, what a pity,” Helion pouted dramatically, his golden eyes sparkling with mischief. “My advisor seemed *so* excited about you.”

Azriel stood suddenly, his strength apparent as his hands slid under her thighs. Before she realized what was happening, he lifted her effortlessly with him, holding her securely as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

“She is also leaving,” Azriel added, his tone as firm as his grip. Then, after a pause, he glanced down at her, his words softening. “If she wants to.”

Her disappointment melted into excitement, her heart skipping a beat as she looked up at him. She didn’t hesitate.

“I do,” she said, her voice sure.

Helion’s exaggerated pout deepened, but Azriel paid him no mind, already striding away with her in his arms.

Her laughter rang out, light and infectious, as she pointed toward the balcony. Azriel bent slightly, adjusting his hold on her before launching them into the air with a powerful sweep of his dark, bat-like wings.

The wind whipped around them, but she didn’t seem the least bit fazed. Her eyes locked onto his deep blue ones, gleaming with exhilaration as she shouted directions to her place over the rush of air.

Her arms wrapped around his neck, her lips pressing soft kisses to the skin there between her laughter and words. Azriel’s grip on her tightened, his wings slicing effortlessly through the night as they soared above the chaos of Helion’s party, leaving it far behind.

As Azriel held her tightly in his arms, his wings beat steadily against the cool night air. The city sprawled out beneath them, a tapestry of lights and shadows, but all Azriel could focus on was the woman in his embrace. Her laughter was a melody that danced with the wind, her eyes sparkling with excitement and desire. She clutched onto him, her fingers trailing lightly over the back of his neck, sending shivers down his spine.

Her house came into view, a cozy cottage nestled amidst a grove of ancient trees. Azriel glided downwards, his landing as gentle as a whisper. As soon as his feet touched the ground, his hands found hers, unable to keep from touching her. She pressed into him, her body fitting perfectly against his as she looked up at him, her eyes filled with longing.

He growled softly in her ear and she moaned in delight. “I love that sound,” she whispered, running her hands through his hair. He nuzzled her neck, his breath hot on her skin, making her shiver with anticipation. “ you’re gonna hear it all night,” Azriel replied, his voice a low rumble. She giggled softly and pushed against him, moving them over to the door.

She didn’t bother with the keys, her breath hitching as he pushed her against the solid wood surface. His hands roamed her body, tracing the curves that had been on his mind all night and she gasped in surprise as his fingers deftly trailed down to her center.

A wicked grin spread across his face as he sank to his knees before her. His hands pushed her dress up, exposing her thighs, her hips, and finally, the apex of her desire. He hiked up one of her legs, draping
it is on his shoulder. He could see how wet she was, could smell her arousal, and it drove him wild. His hands gripped her thighs, steadying her as he leaned in, his tongue tracing a slow, deliberate path up her inner thigh.

She moaned, her hands fisting in his hair. When his tongue finally made contact with her sensitive flesh, she cried out, her body bucking against him. He growled again, the vibration sending waves of pleasure through her. He loved the noises she made, the way her body responded to his touch. His tongue worked expertly, lapping and sucking at her clit, driving her to the brink of madness.

It was getting hotter and unrelenting in this position, the tremors in her leg due to the pressure of his tongue were shaking against her choreographing his movements. He pushed her legs open wider, his hands gripping her firmly, holding her in place as he devoured her. His fingers teasing her entrance before slowly entering her soaking core. Perfectly hitting her g spot. Her moans filled the air, her body writhing against the door, desperate for release.

It didn't take long. She came with a cry, her body convulsing as waves of pleasure washed over her. But Azriel wasn't done. He stood up, his eyes locked onto hers as he quickly shed his clothes. Her breath hitched as she took in his bare form, his muscles rippling in the faint moonlight filtering through the trees. He easily pulled the white dress off her, taking in her body.

He didn’t give her time to recover, his hands gripping her hips as he lifted her, her back pressing against the door. She wrapped her legs around him, her arms around his neck, and he thrust into her, a low groan escaping his lips. She was tight and wet, her body clenching around him as he began to move. His strokes were slow and deliberate at first, building in intensity as her moans filled the air once more.

Azriel’s lips found hers, his kiss as fierce as his thrusts. She met him stroke for stroke, her body arching against his, her nails digging into his shoulders. The world around them fell away, leaving only the two of them, their bodies entwined, their breaths mingling, their pleasure building to a fever pitch.

The door rattled behind her, their combined weight and the force of Azriel’s thrusts threatening to break it down. But neither of them cared. All that mattered was the feel of each other, the rhythm of their bodies, the symphony of their moans and gasps.

As her second orgasm hit he kissed her, his own release following swiftly, her name a groan on his lips.

Eventually, the pleasure faded, leaving them both breathless and sated. Azriel rested his forehead against hers, his eyes locked onto her.

“I can’t wait to do that again,” he admitted as he helped her down.

“Azriel I think you have a magical cock.” She joked as she opened her home.

They stepped inside, and her scent surrounded him, warm and comforting. It clung to him like a second skin, and he realized he didn’t mind. He liked how she fit into his arms, her body wrapped snugly against his.

He held her close as they moved through the cozy warmth of her home, the cherrywood details catching the soft light. The thought struck him suddenly and fiercely—no one had, nor ever would, satisfy him the way she did. The intensity of it startled him, but he didn’t let go. Before he could dwell on this feelings, she said something about tea.

In the kitchen, she moved with ease, preparing tea as he stood silently, watching her. She handed him a cup as they sat together, waiting for it to steep. But Azriel couldn’t focus on the tea. He leaned in, burying his head in her neck, pressing sloppy, desperate kisses along her soft skin.

She was intoxicating. Every touch, every taste of her sent him spiraling.

Unable to resist any longer, he pulled her onto his lap, his large hands gripping her waist tightly. The tea was forgotten.

“I need more,” he groaned, his voice low and rough, betraying just how much she affected him.

"Really?" she teased, a sly smile tugging at her lips as she shifted her hips slightly, testing him.

"I never want to stop," he admitted, his voice low and raw, filled with a vulnerability that surprised even him. His hands tightened on her waist, grinding himself into
Her.

“Good because I’ve never cummed that hard.”
