Chapter Text
“….y …elly!.. Shelly… SHELLY!!”
Her eyes snapped open with the sound of yelling ringing in her ears. She squinted as she saw a blurry pile of tech stuff and a very loud Shrimpo.
“Shrimpo.. What the hell..”
She said groggily as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. When she stopped and picked up her phone which was on the bedside table, she saw her alarm clock. Smashed. Into bits. making her hand pause before continuing it’s path to her phone.
“Shelly! The bus is arriving in 20 minutes!”
Shelly didn’t bother looking at her brother as she figured he was trying to rush her so she would make him breakfast. That was until she unplugged her phone and the screen lit up. The white numbers on the beige and brown dinosaur drawing making her face go pale. 07:20.
“Oh shit!”
Shelly exclaimed as she fell out of bed and began rushing around to get clothes and running between the bathroom and bedroom so she can wash her face in the bathroom.
“Why didn’t you wake me up!”
Shelly yelled as she pulled a once white shirt over her head and then her brown skirt with suspenders.
“I thought you were up. I only noticed when food wasn’t there.”
Shrimpo said with a shrug as he watched his sister face plant the floor and then get up to put on black socks then her dusty ahh boots.
“You fatty!”
Shelly exclaimed as she ran downstairs with Shrimpo behind her. She threw an apple to Shrimpo and grabbed her bag before running out. Unlike Shrimpo how has a bicycle(it’s shelly’s old one actually) and is banned by the bus anyway so he has to ride a bike.
Shelly on the other hand has a motorcycle but takes the bus to school for her best friend. So while Shelly is busy booking it out the door, Shrimpo was getting on his bike.
Shelly finally made it to the stop as the bus arrived and she quickly got on as the doors closed behind her. Shelly made her way to the in-between of the middle and back. She dove into the seat over her friend, Tisha. Shelly turned around onto her back before leaning on the window with her legs over Tisha’s lap and her backpack now on the seat between the two.
“Running late?”
“I don’t wanna hear it.”
“Maybe you would have been faster if you had raptor legs.”
Tisha said as Shelly huffed. Tisha is always a neat freak so her friendship with the dirt covered Shelly was always odd.
The two had been friends since they were 4 years old and always, ALWAYS bantered back and forth. It drove Shrimpo up a wall. Tisha teasing Shelly about her dinosaur and fossil obsession was practically a tradition.
“I was almost late because of Shrimpo.”
Shelly said shaking her fists before unclipping the long side bangs she had put into bunny ear loops to sleep. The hair let down and now reached Shelly’s knees.
“What a hard, hard life for you.”
Tisha said sarcastically as she pushed Shelly’s legs off her own lap.
“I would have had to take my motorbike and speed to just catch up!”
Shelly said as she shoved Tisha weakly on purpose. Shelly then started to do the buckles on her boots and took out her phone.
“Look at this!”
Shelly said showing a video of a gymnastics competition performance. Shelly’s skills were always impressive.
“Look at you.”
Tisha said in a condescending tone but it was still sarcasm so Shelly knew they were playing around.
Shelly scoffed and rolled her eyes as she put her headphones on and started playing some music. She watched the land move as the bus rattled every once in a while. Shelly noticed a moving truck when the bus stopped at a red light. That’s cool. More people.

When the bus arrived Shelly made her way out past the pushing and shoving of other students. She got pulled out by Tisha who made a swift escape.
“Thanks, really.”
Shelly said as she put her backpack on properly. Or at least as much as she could before someone pulled her back by the top strap. Shelly looked back a bit annoyed.
“Sprout!”
Shelly exclaimed looking at the tall, mop of green hair with two red streaks that clearly needed to be cut.
“Hey, Shells!”
Sprout replied with more energy than usual. Shelly just stared at him looking at his messy hair.
“…”
Shelly stayed quiet looking at Sprout or what she assumes is Sprout. It’s hard to tell honestly.
“Is it that bad?”
Sprout asked holding up a few strands of hair and looking at the length. Shelly was busy debating how he could even see through it.
“Maybe..?”
Tisha responded with a nervous laugh as she tried to make it sugarcoated for Sprout.
“I was busy with Cosmo all summer break making new desserts. I didn’t get time to cut it!”
Sprout explained a bit more hastily as he tried to defend his honour or what little he had left.
“How do you get it that long?”
Shelly said as she pushed Sprout’s shoulders down and then started to put his hair into a ponytail once she was behind him.
“By not cutting it for 3 months..”
Sprout said back as Tisha watched Shelly tie Sprout’s hair. Sprout’s elastic bands are almost all from Shelly using her own and never asking for them back.
“Seriously?”
“EEK!!”
Tisha screamed as Connie materialised next to her looking at Sprout. Connie’s ghosty nature always scares the people around her. She’s great for halloween though!
“Oh, hey Connie!”
Shelly said as she finished with Sprout’s hair then went to stand between Tisha and Sprout to see both at once.
“Whatcha doing?”
Connie asked with a nod to greet Shelly who somehow could see Connie when she’s invisible. The only other people who can do that is Gigi when she’s high off her rockers and Shrimpo, sometimes.
“Helping Sprout with his hair. What about you?”
Shelly asked as Tisha finally caught her breath and stood up straight again.
“Nothing much-“
“KRINGGGGG!”
Connie started as she watched Shelly walk around… and immediately getting cut off by the loud bell.
Tisha grabbed Shelly’s wrist and began to pull her towards the entrance as Shelly struggled to not trip over her own feet. Shelly gave a shabby wave to the two Tisha left to be late on their own.
