What We Think We Deserve

Summary:

I really like the Phineas And Ferb Star Wars special (it’s my favorite out of all movies) and I love a particular Star Wars Phineas And Ferb fanfic written in 2013 and I wish there were more set in this universe. Pilot Isabella is the best (and must have SOME backstory)

When Isabella travels with Phineas (And Ferb) to a pod race on the other side of the galaxy, two individuals have plenty of time to communicate about their relationship/situationship…. Or they can just make out. All aboard the spaceship.

(Btw the characters are 16-17 because ain’t no way a 10-13 year old is not questioned for flying a spaceship in the oboes of the universe and is not given the “aren’t you a little young to be flying a cargo ship the size of a B17 in the vast open world of nothingness”. Plus ain’t no way that got that much rizz to kiss someone at a party like it’s a casual Tuesday for them. Trust, it’s for the greater good. I can only suspend my disbelief so much.

Chapter Text

Phineas’s life had gotten used to being a real space adventure. Antics practically every week and one small every day.

Ever since the destruction of the Death Star two years ago, Phineas made sure to seize every day of his life. And research planets so that he can experience the whole galaxy. Yavin IV had really shown him how fun other planets can be. Sure, Tatooine was his #1 pick, but every planet had its charm.

Up aboard the Centennial Chihuahua, Phineas was toying with radiative metals to power a new generator for a contraption he was working on.

Isabella was giving him and Ferb a lift as she was “in the area” and who was he to deny the best pilot in the world and his girlfriend.

Okay well… girlfriend was a bit of a bold mark. Back on Yavin IV, when Isabella had kissed him during the celebration, they never really established if they were… like a thing or not.

Phineas sure liked her. She was an accomplished prodigy pilot who was strategically intelligent and was compassionate to those she trusted, even if she ain’t going to admit that.

After Yavin IV, Ferb and him had taken her to visit Tatooine— rather she gave them a ride back and he had insisted she stay for a few days. Isabella didn’t look that enthused but Phineas was determined to seize the day and give her the most fun Tatooine had to offer.

After reuniting with their parents— Isabella waited in her ship and said that they can show her Tatooine when they’re done with their family reunion— They first took her out to eat blue ice-cream on a rock.

Blue ice-cream is either super soft tasting or extremely acidic; Isabella and him may have accidentally swapped flavored and Isabella pinched her nose while in acidic pain. Maybe it was also cause she ate it too fast.

Then they rode sand boats around the rocky canyons. She was a bit hesitant but ended up saving their hinds when a sharp pillar nearly tore their boat to shreds. Isabella used her agile pilot training to forcefully yank the ropes to make an almost 90 degree angle and swerve around a bit and somehow landed, a bit graceful, upside down near some softer rocks, limestone.

It felt like a disaster but that rush of adrenaline caused Isabella to start laughing. She had a cute laugh. She quickly covered it up to stare off into nothingness, almost like she was registering the horrors of what she just did, but still kept a grin when she looked over to Phineas.

Isabella was definitely not appalled by him. Phineas knew that for certain. She visited him when she could. Hanged out once with him and Ferb. She’s accidentally let it slip before that she finds his triangular shaped head “acute”, a compliment he didn’t receive often— usually it’s questioned on how he looks from right to left and “is his eyesight okay?”
Sure, she didn’t really go on dates with him or really hold his hand in public; she mostly just makes out with him with her limited time on Tatooine. It was really nice and seemed to work for them. As much as Isabella had soften on them, she still kept a hard exterior; Phineas was sure it would come apart with enough time, especially sense he was traveling the galaxy with her now— Isabella was in need of some engineers for a race.

Isabella has always had to watch out for who she can trust. On both the Imperial Army and Rebel Alliance, Isabella has watched both sides double cross each other when the time was necessary. It’s why she never joined either side. If there’s no trust, then what’s the point?

She’s had her fair share of shitty dealers in the past— it’s just what you find in this line of work— so Isabella was always hostile when strangers come up offering to tune off her ship. It’s her alone who touches her ship. And now Phineas and sometimes Ferb.

Phineas’s whole “I trust you” cry as they temporarily parted ways on the Death Star really struck a cord with her. “First few times for everything I guess.”

First other to alter her ship. First to trust (in a way). First kiss. First… boyfriend…?

This wasn’t a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Isabella was sure he’d find better in the universe, but for the time being, she didn’t necessarily mind keeping this farm boy close to her.
Of course he understood the situation, right?

“He’ll find someone else who deserves him. I’m just… getting him ready.”

As much as she grew to not mind admitting that she likes spending time with Phineas and Ferb, her hatred of getting too attached was greater.

They were nice boys, but they were new to the universe. Personally, Isabella found Candace to be more in grounds with the state of the galaxy— even if she is an ex-stormtrooper.

“Hey Isabella? Do you have a moment?” Phineas asks, suddenly behind her.

Isabella jumps slightly but regains her composure. She shifts into slightly irritated, glaring at him, turns to check the controls, then stands up,

“Sure.” She sighs, “what is it?”

“This.” He drops a sphere into her palm, his hand underneath hers. Isabella is confused. It’s not a generator or he would’ve started with what it can do and can he install it in Isabella’s power grid?

Isabella finds a button on top and puts her finger over it, looking up to Phineas to double check if she’s going in the right direction. He nods giddily. He was adorable. Isabella had the urge to kiss him.

So she does. He doesn’t seem to mind at all. A bit winded when she lets go, having wrapped her arms around his neck and feeling him place his around her waist. A bit breathless, he says,

“Isn’t a kiss supposed to come after the present is revealed?” He laughs.
Isabella didn’t care too much for the present, she just wanted him.

She kissed him again to shut him up, and maybe forget a little, and he seemed to, adding a bit of force of his own, tilting her face up with his palms as he very much kissed her like a boy in love. She sort of likes the feeling.

Their session was interrupted by a repetitive beep from her monitor. It indicated that Isabella was needed at the control panel. Isabella immediately pulls away, breaking free from his grasp when she could feel a tiny part of his grip didn’t want her too. But it was back in business mode, and if he didn’t let her drive, she’d have to kick him out.

“If nothing else, you can return back to the Cargo area.” She states, a bit coldly.

Isabella waits a few moments and then hears feet echo from behind, hitting metal flooring until the sound disappears, although most of it was muted but the burst of energy that came with exiting hyperspace.

Isabella hears some metal rolling around the navigation area. A rattling ball sound. Quickly, she stags what was on the floor.

Phineas’s gift. She dropped it when they started making out. There was even a little dent in it now.

He was always making goofy contraptions like these, but this is the first one he’s gifted to her.
She pockets it for later.
