Clint walks into the party with a blonde walking beside him. Natasha smiles at the woman and shares a look with Clint. Not long after their initial entrance Clint and the woman make their way to the spy and soldier standing at the corner of the room calmly conversing.
“Nat, Steve, this is Agent Morse,” Clint introduces the blond nonchalantly.
“Agent?” Steve asks.
“Yeah. Agent Barton here invited me after a few training sessions he hosted that I was a part of. And you know, an Avenger invites you to a party hosted by Tony Stark, how can a girl say no? What other agent is lucky enough to get invited to an Avengers party?” the blonde spoke with a kind smile on her lips.
Nat could hear the slight snark behind the woman’s words.
“I’m going to grab something to drink. Anyone want a beer or anything?” she added.
“A beer sounds great, thank you,” Clint patted her arm lightly.
She walked off, leaving Clint with the spy and soldier. Nat couldn’t help but smile at him.
“She seems nice,” Steve said.
“Yeah, good agent too. Honestly, she is an asset worth more than they give her credit for,” Clint’s eyes don’t leave the woman at the bar as he speaks.
“And you know, keeps Tony from hounding me. I’m just lucky she said yes,” he quickly looked back at the two and tried to tone down the awe in his voice.
Clint looks back at the bar again and sees the woman now had a drink in each hand.
“Best go make myself useful so she doesn’t ditch me,” Clint excuses himself promptly.
“Clint seems quite keen on her,” Steve spoke lowly to Nat who laughed lightly.
“No one says ‘keen’ anymore.”
“Fine, smitten or whatever you want to call it. He seems happy.”
“He is,” Nat smiles before going to the bar to get herself something to drink.
Clint smiled and laughed with the blonde he had come in with. Tony walked over to the couches where the archer and mystery woman sat.
“Hello Barton. And hello very attractive woman for some reason sitting with Barton,” the billionaire said taking a seat beside the blonde.
“Hello Mr. Stark,” she said with a big smile.
“What are you doing hanging out with this loser?” Tony asked.
“Hey!” Clint interjected feigning hurt.
“Oh hush Barton,” Tony interjected.
“It’s alright. He invited me. Really you should be thanking him as I wouldn’t be here for anyone viewing pleasure had he not taken the time to invite me,” She quickly tried to calm to tension brewing.
“And a pleasure you are to view. What’s your name?”
“Agent Morse,” she responded flatly.
“You got a first name, agent?” he asked, laying his arm on the back of the couch.
“Just agent Morse if you don’t mind. And as Barton here is the one who took the time to invite me I hope you don’t mind if I take the time to say my goodbyes and thank him before catching a cab,” she spoke before standing up.
Tony nervously pulled his arm back to his side. Scowling at Clint who couldn’t help but laugh at Tony being so quickly turned down by the agent. Standing up Clint went to follow the agent he had arrived with.
Once Clint caught up with the woman and saw a glint in her eyes as she smiled at him.
“Turning down Tony Stark like that? Cold,” he laughed lightly.
“It’s fun watching him squirm uncomfortably when he doesn’t know how to handle the rejection.”
“That it is,” Clint gently slid his hand to rest comfortably on her hip.
“Would you like to go? I am more than happy to leave whenever you are,” Clint offered after a moment.
She hummed lightly.
“Maybe after this song, you did promise me dancing,” she raised a brow making him smile.
“Of course m’lady,” stepping back he bowed dramatically and offered his hand.”
“Why thank you good sir,” she took his hand, blushing slightly.
She followed Clint to the make shift dance floor, now sparsely populated following the start of a slower song. He crossed his wrists behind his back and offered her a slight bow.
“May I have this dance?” he offered his hand.
“It would be my honor,” she said taking his hand and pulling him slightly closer.
He dropped his hands to rest on her waist as she rested her hands on his shoulders.
“I think people are starting to stare,” she whispered in his ear.
“Let ‘em, their just jealous.”
She smiled at him and let out a soft breath, he noticed her shoulders relax and allowed her head to rest against his shoulder.
“Ready to go home?” he whispered as the song came to an end.
“With you? Always,” she replied in a similarly hushed tone.
Taking his hand the two made their way towards the back entrance, briefly pausing to wave goodbye towards Nat and Steve before sneaking out.
Upon exiting the two found themselves in the alley behind the Avengers building. It was well lit for an alley and the two were acutely aware of the security cameras Tony had installed giving him a 360 view around the building. The two began calmly walking away and towards where Clint had parked. He had chosen to park a bit away from the building, in part because it made them less obvious and therefore drew less attention to the fact the two were attending an even at the Avengers building, and the two of them enjoyed the walk. There was a slightly brisk breeze, though both found it refreshing. The world was slowly going to sleep, streetlight turned on and traffic at a relative minimum.
“Thank you for the invite,” she spoke calmly once they had been walking for almost ten minutes and had made adequate distance from the building.
“I’m lucky you said yes.”
Laughing lightly, she slowly let go of his hand before interlocking their arms.
“Don’t let Tony get you.”
“You don’t know that is what I was thinking about,”
“I know you Barton,” she paused to move in front of him, “Don’t worry about Tony, he’s just being Tony. I know that doesn’t make it feel any better, but I’m gonna keep reminding you till hopefully it starts to sink in.”
“You’re too good to me Birdie,” he smiled lightly at her, cupping her face.
“One could make the argument that you are to good me,” she counted.
“We both know that you could probably win any argument. There’s a reason Fury has you and Nat on speed dials for interrogations.”
“Enough flattery agent Barton. I thought we were going home,” she grabbed his hand and continued walking.
He followed her happily.
Soon the two stopped by a dark blue moderately beat up pickup truck. Letting go of her hand briefly he pulled his keys from his pocket and quickly opened the passenger door, offering his hand to her once more.
“Why thank you,” she took his hand and climbed into the car.
He ensured she was situated before closing the door and going around to get into the passenger seat.
A bit over half an hour later Clint pulled up to an apartment building. Looking over the woman beside him seemed almost completely asleep. Turning off the car and quietly getting out he walked to the passenger side and opened her door. Reaching over her he unbuckled her seatbelt which seemed to startle her.
“S’okay, just me,” he spoke calmly and prompted her to wrap her arms around him.
Easily he lifted her up and she smiled into his chest. He locked and closed the car door before walking up to the apartment doors. Since she supported a majority own weight just by holding on, he only needed to support her legs and therefore was easily able to open the door and press the button for the elevator. The elevator door opened quickly, and he stepped in, pressing the button for his floor.
“You know you don’t have to carry me,” she said calmly, though made no effort to let go or move at all.
He simply shrugged.
“How about a compromise, when we get to the floor you can walk.”
She laughed somewhat hugging him closer for a moment before letting go, prompting him to gently let her down.
Clint closed the door to the apartment and watched as she was pulling off her heels.
“Why are you staring at me?” she stepped towards him.
“You’re just…beautiful.”
“Choose your words carefully Mr. Barton, never know where you are gonna end up,” she smiled.
“As long as it’s with you I can’t think of anything better, Mrs. Barton.”
Stepping closer she caressed his cheek and smiling at him.
“I love you, Clint.”
Smiling back, he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her body closer to him.
“I love you too Bobbi.”
Leaning down he softly kissed her.
