Chapter Text
Let me share my wisdom with you! Do you hear me, O’choosen one?
A sudden voice rang in Kavehs head, taking him aback “Yes! Yes, I can hear you!”
Good! Now repeat these words after me aloud. You and your friends will be saved!
Suddenly, he could feel a surge of power. He held the Shiny rod and saw that one of the 7 peculiar beads embedded in it was glowing.
Noctue
“Noctue!”
Orfei
“Or…Orfei!”
Aude
“Aude!”
Fraetore!
“ FRAETORE!”
Something was definitely happening, Kaveh could feel it! The Shiny rod in his hands got heavier. When he held it up, it looked like a giant claymore. Somehow, he knew immediately what to do.
“ SHINY ARC!”
He threw the claymore with as much force as he could into the ground, before it dissolved into a giant, swirling portal. It was bright blue, with wisps of smoke blowing from it. Tighnari, who was freefalling with his eyes shut in terror, watched the scene unfold in amazement. On the other side of that portal, was the one and only Akademia.
Kaveh woke up gasping for air as the bright sunlight poured through the cracks of the curtain. He rubbed his eyes, the surroundings sinking into his thoughts.
Right, that wasn’t just a dream. Everything had already happened. He gazed up at the bed above him and sighed as all he could hear was the soft snoring of Cyno, who slept above him.
Kaveh was put in a room with his friends Cyno and Tighnari, which he was thankful for. He didn’t know anyone else there, being the new student and all. And they were pretty much besties at this point. After all, they fought not one, but TWO deadly monsters and got out of a forest prison together. Nothing better for bonding right?
He sat up and rubbed his bandaged chest and winced slightly at the slight fiery pain in his chest. They didn’t exactly get out of the entire ordeal unscathed. But it had been a couple of days since the whole thing. He was nearly healed.
Kaveh’s shared room had 2 bunk beds, one where Cyno slept on the top bunk and Kaveh slept on the bottom bunk, and one where Tighnari slept curled up in a little ball in the top bunk.
The floor was wooden, nicely polished, and smooth, with one colorful rug that looked rather misplaced on the floor. The two windows were huge, with beige curtains to close and to block out the sunlight, and had window nooks, which each had a couple of pillows and cushioned seating. It was convenient for people who like to sit near the sunlight to read or study.
Those weren’t the only places to sit, however. There were also two desks. One small one, with a tiny pen stand, along with a cute little Banzai tree and a calendar. Which happened to be the Lunar calendar, which Kaveh didn’t understand at all. Since he was a Human. According to Tighnari, the witches and all other magical creatures followed the Lunar calendar.
Thankfully, Cyno managed to get Kaveh a normal calendar alongside the Lunar calendar. He had originally planned to teach Kaveh the Lunar calendar but figured it might just be easier to get him the normal calendar.
“What do you mean you don’t understand the calendar?!” Cyno asked in disbelief, picking up the calendar from the table and flipping through the pages one by one “It seems to look fine to me.”
Each page of the Calendar was adorned with intricate drawings of the moon in various phases, surrounded by celestial patterns and symbols unknown to Kaveh but seemingly familiar to his friends.
“Cyno” Tighnari sighed “Maybe humans see the months of the year differently. Is that what you meant Kaveh?”
“Yeah!” Kaveh exclaimed “And these are supposed to be months?! They are just pictures of the moon.” “This calendar is called the Lunar Calendar. I was aware of the existence of other calenders, but never actually took the time to understand them……” Tighnari explained then mused.
“Well, our calender has twelve months, they are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December!” Kaveh says. “Now is the month of August, which has 30 days.”
“Our Calender also has twelve months.” Cyno responded “Moon after yule, Snow moon, Sap moon, Grass moon, Planting moon, Honey moon, Thunder moon, Grain moon, Fruit moon, Hunters moon, Frosty moon, and Moon before yule.”
Kaveh looked at him in confusion and tugged a couple of strands of his hair “What is the magic communities obsession with the moon?” “Lots of magic essence usually comes from pure celestial objects in Nature. And a lot of that comes from the moon.” Tighnari explained.
Cyno looked at Tighnari, eyes narrowing as his interest piqued and he placed the calender on the table and flipped it to it’s original page. “You seem to know a lot about elemental magic.”
Tighnari shrugged and gave him a tiny amused smile. “This is the basic stuff. Shouldn’t everybody know this stuff?” Cyno blinked a little and suddenly…flushed? That was quite strange for someone for him.
“Nothing…you…you just seem like you have a vast knowledge on this subject.” He cleared his throat as he secretly fidgeted with his hands behind his back.
“Oh really?” Tighnari lightly teased “What exactly gave it away?”
“Can we PLEASE talk about something else,” Cyno muttered, face red and annoyed.
A sudden noise startled Kaveh out of his thoughts. Tighnari sat up in his bed, yawning as he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes “What time is it?” He mumbled, his furry tail swishing behind him as his ears twitched.
“Ummmm, 7:30.” Kaveh replied, taking a look at his old bronze studded clock on his bedside table. “We better start getting ready.” Tighnari said, stepping on the ladder and climbing down from his top bunk.
Kaveh nodded and got out of bed himself as he stretched his limbs. He took a look at Cyno, still lightly snoring in his bed “Should we….?”
“I suppose so.” Tighnari sighed. He climbed up to Cyno’s bunk and shook him in a light and affectionate way. “Cyno, wake up. We’re gonna be late.”
“ I’ll snap your neck and rip out your intestines…” Cyno muttered grumpily, flopping over and attempting to kick Tighnari. He frowned and clambered back down as Kaveh looked at him worriedly.
“What do we do now?” Kaveh asked. “Don’t worry,” Tighnari said, slightly annoyed. “I know how to deal with people like him.”
He went into their shared bathroom and came out with his arms holding a large bucket filled to the brim with ice cold water. “Help me carry this up Kaveh,” Tighnari asked, a mischievous smile pulling at the corners of his lips.
Kaveh looked at the bucket skeptically “Are you….sure about this?”
“Just help me!” Tighnari says.
Kaveh and Tighnari hauled the big bucket and poured the entirety of the ice cold water on Cyno, who jolted up with a start. Cyno's gasp was a mixture of shock and indignation, his teeth chattering as icy droplets cascaded down his hair, framing his face in disbelief.“HEY! WHAT…WHAUGHUHDZWUAL,” he spluttered shivering and giving Tighnari his best death glare “WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!”
“I’m not going to be late on my first day school just because you decided to sleep in.” Tighnari replied casually, unfazed by Cyno’s anger. Cyno grumbled under his breath, too tired to start a fight with his roommate at this time of day. Besides, at the back of his mind, he knew he was right. “Very well then,” Cyno sighed then gave a mischievous grin of his own “I assume this means I’m allowed to use up all the hot water in the shower then..”
Tighnari’s and Kavehs eyes widened taken aback at what Cyno just said.
“Oh no you don’t!”
“I told you not to do it!”
“You can’t stop me!”
If you asked all of the other students of the Akademia, they could’ve sworn they heard the sounds of crashing and yelling coming from that dorm in particular.
