Chapter 1: Breakfast

Chapter Text

“Keith!” Hunk exclaimed seeing his commander stumble into the dining room.

“Are you feeling better?” Allura asked.

Keith gave a gentle smile and slight nod and walked slowly over to his seat, one arm resting on his stomach on top of where the bandages were.

“All your doom and gloom convinced Dr. Gorma to clear you already?” Lance asked playfully.

“Just for light activities,” Keith responded, pulling out his usual corner seat between Lance and Allura. Keith sipped on coffee and listened to his friends narrate the events of the past battle, most of which he had been unconscious for.

“That evasive maneuver was so tight. I can’t believe we pulled it off!”

“No seriously I thought we were gonna collide when we both flew through the robeast’s legs like that.”

“And then when Lance tried—“ Pidge exclaimed through teary giggles clutching his mug with both hands.

“Hey,” Lance interjected, “I still think operation opossum was a solid idea.”

Keith was suddenly distracted by a tight hot pain at the base of his abdomen. Stunned for a moment, he tensed his jaw and leaned forward slightly, hoping it would pass.

“Operation opossum!?”

Suddenly Keith felt a warmth spread between his thighs. He looked down to see yellow liquid pooling in his crotch and spreading down his legs.

“Yeah you know ‘cause opossums play dead.”

Keith felt his whole body tense up with shock and mortification, and he forced himself to lift his gaze back to the others. He tried to stop the flow but found he couldn’t. His face grew hot. He didn’t know why this was happening. He didn’t want anyone to know. He couldn’t think of a way to stop them from finding out.

“You alright Keith?” Allura asked with slight concern in her voice. Lance glanced over. Keith’s heart was pounding in his chest and he could barely grasp the princess’s words.

“Yeah” he replied curtly.

“And then because Lotor thought I had been knocked out,” Lance continued his narration. “I was able to dash in-” Lance swept his arm across the table and in the process, elbowed his mug of tea off the edge of the table and straight into Keith.

Warm liquid splashed Keith’s chest, and he realized frantically that this was his only chance. He pushed himself back and up from the table as Lance’s mug rolled into his lap and then onto the floor with a crash.

“Shoot I’m sorry Keith!” Lance exclaimed, “Are you okay?”

“Yeah I uh,” his mind couldn’t keep up with what was happening, “I gotta go change my bandages.” He turned and hurried out of the dining hall.
