“We really should stop meeting like this, Lumine. What will people think?”
Kaeya’s voice is a purr against the shell of her ear as he takes her earlobe between his teeth, following that with a slow drag of soft lips down the column of her throat.
He’s got her wrists pinned above her head with one hand while the other wanders up her thigh, to her hip, then her waist, and although he’s not wrong, she hardly cares at present as the din of the party rings out.
They’re situated in a secluded corridor far away from wandering eyes, but if someone were to come looking for them, it probably wouldn’t take long for them to stumble upon their tryst.
She is, after all, sporting a bright blue bridesmaid’s dress, and the tie Kaeya wears matches the color exactly, and although she’s certain the bride would surely applaud her efforts, she’s not sure the groom would share the same sentiment.
Albedo is not as buttoned up as he seems, but she knows he often finds Kaeya’s conquests exasperating, and she’s not sure she’s ready to be lumped in with the rest, nor does she want to take away from he and Mona’s big day.
Not that Mona would mind, for she’s been telling Lumine she needed to get laid for months, and a couple of really strong drinks and a series of questionable decisions had ultimately landed her in Kaeya’s arms after their wedding shower.
And the day after the bachelorette party, and the night following the rehearsal dinner.
It’s become a bit of a habit.
“I see last night’s efforts weren’t totally in vain,” he croons, releasing her wrists so he can slide one of her sleeves off her shoulder, and Lumine sighs as he presses a soft kiss to the spot where a bruise has bloomed overnight, chasing the action with his tongue while his other hand continues to wander.
It’s not unwelcome, but now is hardly the time to take things slow, and Kaeya laughs softly when she slides the hand at her hip down to her ass, demanding in not so many words that he get a move on.
“Impatient, are you?” He whispers against her mouth before moving back to the skin of her neck, and Lumine smirks as he picks her up by the back of the thighs and proceeds to pin her down with his hips, his erection pressing hard against the front of her dress.
“You’re one to talk,” she replies, rolling her hips to introduce a little friction, and he groans ever so quietly as he makes his way back up to her mouth, sucking on her bottom lip before requesting entry with his tongue.
He’s a great kisser, and possibly the best sex she’s ever had, but she’d never tell him that, because he’d become insufferably smug, and the last thing she wants to do is bruise his ego.
Not that she’d really fault him, all things considered, for Kaeya has a reputation for being a tease and a rake, with more notches on his bedpost than Lumine is typically comfortable with.
But there’s something about the way he looks at her when they’re in the throes of passion that gives her pause, like she’s the only thing he sees through all of time and space, though she’s certain that’s just some well-practiced maneuver to keep all his ladies on the line, so Lumine’s half-convinced that’s she’s insane.
And besides, she’d told herself when they’d started all this that she wouldn’t get attached, and by the archons, she’s going to keep it that way.
Lumine’s skin is soft and searing hot as Kaeya holds her in place and kisses her hard, enjoying the way she gently pushes against him and sighs because the best man and maid-of-honor will surely be missed.
But he hadn’t been able to help himself, especially after seeing how the other men in attendance had been treating her, and he wonders if the redhead with the rapscallion grin has yet noticed that she’s gone.
He’s one of Mona’s friends from grad school, Kaeya knows, because he’d asked Albedo who he was, and Lumine tips her head back and gasps as one of his hands finds the inside of her thigh, slowly making its way to where he’s certain he’ll find her soaked for him, because she’s not a particularly difficult woman to rile up.
She likes to play hard to get, sure, but once she’s primed, everything else comes easily, and Kaeya smirks when he makes contact and finds that he is absolutely right, bringing his mouth to the shell of her ear again because it never fails to make her shiver.
“Are you sure you don’t want to take our time?”
“We can’t,” she protests, “too many people will notice we’re gone.”
“I could drop to my knees—” he muses, ignoring her half-assed argument, “—just for a minute. Though it’s not like I can’t finish you that way.”
Lumine hisses as he drags a gentle hand across the front of her underwear (soft lace, it turns out) and circles her clit with his thumb, forgoing any sort of warning before slipping his hand underneath the fabric and cursing when he finds exactly what he expected, and he can’t adequately describe how much he wants to savor the moment, because there’s something about her that’s different than his usual fare.
What had started as a one-night-stand had quickly evolved into a favorite pastime, and Lumine moans louder than she should in the vicinity of polite company as he slips his fingers inside and curls them, moving in and out of her with practiced precision and because she likes it and he lives to please her.
Or so his brain says, when they’re together like this, openly rebelling against years of non-attachment, and he finds himself looking up at her in awe as she draws her bottom lip between her teeth to muffle the sound.
She’s so fucking pretty, it should be illegal, and she bites down on it hard when his fingers slip out to play with her clit, her hips rocking and rolling against him as he continues to wind her up.
“Or I could finish you like this, which would be my preference—that way I can watch.”
“Kaeya!”
He heeds the harsh warning and stops his ministrations between her thighs, shifting his focus to her breasts as her sleeve slips further down her shoulder, and it doesn’t take but a second to peel the fabric of the neckline down enough to expose her nipple to the air.
It’s dark and tightened with arousal, and Kaeya looks up at her through his lashes as he takes it into his mouth, swirling around it with his tongue before taking the bud between his teeth, and one of Lumine’s hands flies up to tangle itself in his hair as he bites down gently, introducing a little bit of pain.
Not enough to distract her, of course, but he knows he’s found the correct balance when her back starts to arch and her hips roll again, and he can feel the heat as he rocks his hips up to meet her, sating his immediate need for a little more friction before starting in on his belt, and Kaeya groans as some of the pressure around his cock starts to release, pulling back to ghost his lips across her mouth in a slow tease that has her whining in frustration.
“Are you ready?” He asks quietly, and she smirks against him and nods, pulling him as close as she can while he pulls himself out of his boxers.
Kaeya adjusts his grip and her dress rustles as he bunches the fabric up around her hips, and his free hand makes its way back to her center as he starts to line himself up with the other, and it’s in one fluid motion that he pulls the lace to the side and buries himself to the hilt.
“Oh, gods,” Lumine moans as she adjusts to his size, moving her hands back to where they’re cradling either side of his face, and her heels dig into his backside as he sets a slow and steady pace and loses himself in the moment.
“Where do you think they went?” Albedo asks as he takes a sip of his drink, eyes scanning the room around them for the maid of honor and best man.
“They probably snuck away to steal a few quiet moments. You know how they both can be.”
Mona’s honestly not sure Lumine is entirely capable of being quiet, having shared a wall with her during her conquests when they were both in undergrad, but she supposes her best friend at least knows how to be discreet, especially in the middle of a party.
Kaeya certainly does, what with his preference for the shadows.
At least they’d had the foresight to steal away after all the toasts had concluded, and Mona smirks to herself and shakes her head as the layout of the building comes to mind and she tries to figure out where they may have gone.
“There’s that corridor tucked away back behind the hallway to the bathrooms. That seems like it’d be the most convenient place.”
“Are you insinuating that we test your hypothesis later? Or are you just musing out loud?”
Albedo arches a brow and smirks as his free hand finds her’s under the table, and Mona wishes in that moment that they weren’t at their own wedding reception, because she’d probably take him up on the offer.
“Musing out loud, though if this weren’t our reception, I’d have dragged you somewhere quiet ages ago.”
“Likewise, my love.”
Mona blushes at that and turns her attention back to where Ajax has found someone else to flirt with, and she wonders if that had been the catalyst that had prompted Kaeya to steal her best friend away.
He’s not known for being the jealous type, but she’d seen the way he’d been watching Lumine since she’d captured Ajax’s attention, and where he lacks the propensity for true envy, he makes up for it by refusing to back down from a fight.
Plus, he’s been hooking up with Lumine for a couple of months at this point. Sporadically, yes, but hooking up all the same.
Mona only found out at her own bachelorette party when Lumine accidentally let it slip that they were texting, and it wasn’t hard to puzzle out from there, because Lumine can’t keep her mouth shut about a good lay to save her life.
She’s never attributed it to Kaeya, but Albedo’s own accounts of his peculiar behavior as of late had only solidified her hypothesis:
Albedo’s notoriously unavailable and unattached best friend had taken a shine to her own rolling stone.
Not that Mona’s the least bit surprised, for Lumine has beauty and charm in spades, and Kaeya’s always enjoyed a bit of a challenge, something which she’s sure Lumine has risen to.
She doesn’t think they’ll take too long, considering they’ve been the two most sought-after members of the wedding party all evening, but in the midst of it all, she hopes they’ll savor the moment because a true connection can be so hard to find.
Albedo’s hand on her thigh pulls her out of her reprieve, and his expression softens as he jerks his head toward the dance floor and brings the hand he’d been holding to his mouth, pressing a gentle kiss to the back of it in a silent request for her to come with him, and her thoughts fade away, leaving only her beloved behind as she gets up and follows him to the dance floor.
Kaeya’s movements are slow and so incredibly deliberate as he sets the perfect pace and cradles her hips with his hands, and each strike of his pelvis sends pleasure shooting down her spine until she feels it start to coil at the base.
It never takes long, not with Kaeya, and he hisses a curse as he feels her start to flutter and clamp down around him, hips rolling with enough force to nearly unseat him.
“That’s it,” he pants, his hips stuttering as she twists a hand in his hair and tugs hard, biting down on his bottom lip as release starts to boil over in her core, “Come for me, Lumine. I’m so fucking close.”
Her last thread of self-control snaps at the urgency in his voice, and Lumine cries out as her orgasm rips through her, Kaeya following swiftly behind her.
“Holy shit,” he says, resting his forehead against her shoulder, and Lumine bites down on her bottom lip and offers him a nod and a moan as the last dregs of release wash over her, and Kaeya withdraws himself and releases her hips so she can stand, pulling her as close as he can until there’s no space left between them.
It’s still not close enough, and Lumine scrabbles against him, darting her hands up his shirt so that she can feel him, skin-to-skin.
“Careful, starlight,” he whispers, dipping down to drag his lips up the column of her throat, and she almost hates the way the pet name sounds so sweet on his tongue, how it makes her pulse flutter and her heart skip a beat.
Because this is supposed to be just fun, no strings attached, yet she can feel them starting to wrap around her neck.
“We wouldn’t want any nosy passersby to think we were indecent, now would we?” He muses, pulling back to look at her as he reaches up to roll the one nipple between his fingers, and he flashes her a sly smirk and arches a brow before carefully sliding the top of her dress back into place and then righting himself.
“No, we would not,” she replies, catching his forehead with her own when he leans down to kiss her softly, and she tries not to overanalyze it, because she’s been acquainted with Kaeya for years, and she knows it’s only a matter of time before he tires of their trysts and moves on.
She’s expecting it any day now, as a matter of fact, but he watches her now with so much reverence that she wonders if he feels the shift.
Lumine’s got him frozen in place at the end of the corridor, and Kaeya can’t, for the life of him, break free.
Not that he really wants to, all things considered, but Lumine had been clear when they’d started their dalliances that there was no need for emotions or strings.
Or they’d both been clear, rather, for Kaeya had swiftly agreed: no emotions, just sex, whenever the need arose.
And yet, he feels the strings they’d thought they’d avoided wrapping themselves around his neck, and he blames that redhead, the booze, and Lumine for forcing him into such a state.
Kaeya has never really been the jealous type, but one glimpse of the man flirting with her and nearly frothing at the mouth had sent Kaeya into some envy-laced stupor.
A stupor that, at present, is dormant.
Amazing what getting off can do for one’s constitution.
It’s not like he knows Lumine particularly well, they’d merely been regular acquaintances until recently, but now that he’s had her in more ways than one, he feels like he knows her better.
He knows her body, for sure, knows what she likes in bed, but she’s been less generous with regards to her brain.
It’s both frustrating and fascinating.
Ordinarily, Kaeya would have grown bored by now, made up some lame excuse to discontinue their trysts and moved on to another conquest, but he’s found that the more time he spends in her company, the less time he wants to spend away from her, and quite frankly, she’s the only woman he’s ever met that could keep up.
He likes the idea of waking up to her next to him in the morning and falling asleep next to her at night, and he wants to be able to ask after her thoughts without worrying that she’ll think it’s weird.
But at Albedo and Mona’s wedding is not the time or place for that discussion, and so Kaeya takes a step back and lets her come off the wall, clearing his throat in an effort to settle his thoughts.
“We should get back before somebody comes snooping.”
“Um…yeah, we should,” she replies, snapping out of a stupor of her own, and Kaeya wants to inquire as to what she’s thinking, and it must show on his face.
“Or…we can wait a few minutes, catch our breath, if you’d like.”
“Would you want to have dinner with me sometime? ”
The question spills from his lips before he has a chance to stop it, and Lumine’s face morphs into an expression he’s not sure he’s seen before as he takes a deep breath and holds her gaze.
The groom’s notorious rake of a best man, rendered a babbling buffoon by a gorgeous blonde in the aftermath of a hookup in the middle of the reception, and it takes Lumine long enough to register the inquiry that he almost feels like he should be offended.
“What?”
“Nothing,” she replies quietly, a faint blush gracing her features, and she clasps her hands together in front of her while she presumably comes up with a polite way to turn him down.
No emotions, just sex.
Idiot. “Forget I asked, it must be the booze.”
“No no! It’s not that,” she says, taking a couple of steps back toward him, and her astonished expression shifts into something soft and sly as she cocks her head to one side and smirks up at him.
He can’t breathe.
“It’s just — for someone who’s so smooth in the throes of sex, it seems you’re quite nervous and flustered right now.”
“Shut up,” he replies with a deflective smirk, falling back into his usual pattern, and the flush on her face is really quite pretty in the midst of a new dynamic, “Do you want to go out with me or not?”
His hands wind around her waist of their own accord as she steps into his space and takes a breath, and she slots against him so easily as her fingers lace together around the back of his neck that Kaeya wonders if they were made for one another.
“I thought you’d never ask,” she whispers, flashing him a genuine smile, and Kaeya can’t help the way he sighs before dipping down to steal a kiss, basking in the glow of their new horizon.
“We really should get back, though” Kaeya says, enjoying the warmth and weight of her against his chest, “I give Albedo three more minutes before he sends someone out to fetch us.”
“Nah,” Lumine replies, stretching up to kiss him again, “Mona’s totally on team ‘reception hookup,’ so I bet she’s got him distracted.”
Kaeya snorts at the sentiment but makes a mental note to thank the bride later as he releases his hold around her waist and grabs her hand, and for the first time in a long time, he doesn’t want to let go as she lets him lead her back to the main room.
