Moon Tied

Summary:

“What if she was filling up so much space there was no room to hear any of the gods? What if you tried reaching out to a god, maybe they could fill up so much room and kick her out?”

Those words keep playing over and over in Laudna’s head after her and Imogen’s conversation they had on the cliff overlooking Zephyra. Even if a god could take the place of Delilah, Laudna isn’t sure how she feels about the gods, unsure if having any of them inside her head would be any better. All she can think about is how if there was anyone she would want in here head for the rest of her life as her patron…..it would be Imogen

Notes:

Here it is, the idea that started me and Elk_rider’s journey together as writing partners! This fic is canon divergent after the events of episode 69 (nice) during Bell’s Hells downtime in Zephyra. I’m very excited with how everything came together and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed writing it!

Chapter 1: Night Changes

Chapter Text

Pâté watched his mistress pace back and forth in their small room, feeling her agitation through his bond.

“You’re going to dig yourself another grave if you keep walkin’ back and forth like that.” He warned and fluttered over to her hand, trying to calm her down. “What's got your knickers in a twist, eh?" He asked, cocking his head.

Laudna halted her pacing when she felt small rodent paws grasp her finger. “Oh, sorry Pâté, I didn’t mean to worry you, I’m quite alright.”

That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Laudna’s mind kept playing back her and Imogen’s conversation from last night.

“What if she was filling up so much space there was no room to hear any of the gods?” Imogen pondered “What if you tried reaching out to a god, maybe they could fill up so much room and kick her out?”

Laudna shook her head and brought herself back into the present. “Imogen thought that maybe I should try reaching out to a god in an attempt to kick Delilah out for good, but none of the gods really vibe with me. The only person I would want to have in my head forever would be…” she trailed off, still wrapping her head around what she was actually thinking.

Pâté nuzzled her hand and rubbed his hips along her thumb, scratching his butt. “I mean you’re already in her head. I see what you two do every night, yeaaaaa I do… it’s good watchin’.” He grunted and made little hip thrusts against her thumb, before twirling around it like a dancer’s pole. “She can fill you up good and bursting. With all that razzle dazzle Imogen’s got, she’d have some to spare.” He teased and continued his interpretive dance.

Laudna couldn’t help but let a small snort escape at the bizarre sight of the chubby rat corpse performing a macabre strip tease.

“You are absolutely vile!” She sighed heavily, jokingly shaking Pâté around. “Of all the creations I could’ve come up with, how did I get stuck with a horny rat bird?”

She let Pâté go as her thoughts strayed back to Imogen. “I mean, she is very capable, and very powerful! But I don’t want to be a burden to her. She already has so much going on and asking for her to be my patron would feel like I’m using her? And how do I even ask? I mean, I got her this ring at this lovely shop today, but what if she thinks I’m proposing? Not that I wouldn’t want to propose to her, I very much would like to…” Laudna’s hands instinctively went to play and pull at her hair as she rambled and resumed her pacing.

Pâté held out his little paws to comfort his undead maker. “O’right o’right, one thing at a time. Firstly, you made me. I’m horny cause o’ you.” The little rat creature huffed and held out two fingers. “Second, don’t worry ‘bout marriage. It’s a later thing. Waaaaay down the line. You got me?” He said and stared at her before holding up three fingers.

“And third. She hates Delilah, even more than you I reckon. If there was a way to get that old bird out of your mind for good, she’d do it. She already did when you were dead. She’d do it again. Then she'd do you, eh? Eh? Get it? Haha, I mean you will be getting’ it eyyyyyyy.” He said and pretended to smack Laudna’s thumb like it was the ass of his partner.

Laudna slumped down onto the bed with a defeated chuckle. She would never tell Pâté, but he was right. She covered her face with her hands, her dark eyes peeking through her fingers. “I just… I love her so much Pâté. I don’t want to mess this up.”

She grazed her fingers lovingly across the pillow that Imogen usually slept on. She brought it to her chest and wrapped her arms around it, burying her face into the soft down and inhaling the lingering lavender scent.

“Eyyyyy don’t go sulkin Miss Laudna. She loves you too, right? It won’t hurt to ask ‘er.” Pâté said and fluttered to land on the pillow beside her. “Just bring it up lightly, eh? Say you were thinking more about your talk on the ridge.”

Laudna tucked her knees up into her chest, smirking as she turned to look at her familiar, “You’re such a pain in my ass most of the time.” She extended a hand and scratched Pâté under his chin, “But you’re always there for me.”

“I know. Just go an ask her. You got nothin’ t’ loose.” He said and nuzzled into the touch.

She exhaled as she stood up, “You’re right Pâté. Imogen has been with me through so much and has told me many times that she loves me just the way I am.” She blushed thinking about Imogen’s showers of compliments as she rummaged through her bag to find her hairbrush. “I have no reason to doubt her, I just need to set it up and rip it off like a bandage. All I need to say is “Imogen Temult, will you be my patron?””

Imogen dropped the basket she was holding, dinner and dessert scattering over the floor, and the jug of wine bounced off her foot to roll under the bed. She stared at Laudna, heart thundering in her chest as she tried to clutch onto the dresser beside her for balance.

“Be your… patron?” She repeated eyes as wide as dinner plates.

Laudna whirled around at the sound of clattering of bottles and food, frozen when she saw her girlfriend standing in the doorway.

“Imogen!” Laudna was mortified and completely unprepared. “I—I was just…” she stammered as she absentmindedly started to pick up groceries, trying desperately not to lock eyes with the sorceress. “I was just thinking about what you said last night a-and I had the idea that maybe I didn’t need a god and I thought that maybe you could fill that space and…” Laudna gave up trying to explain and fell to her knees. “It was a just silly little thought… that’s all.”

Laudna dared to look up at Imogen, her eyes still wide and her silence deafening. Laudna swallowed the lump in her throat as the cold heat of anxiety creeped up her face.

“I-Imogen?” Laudna dared to whisper, scared her voice might shatter.

Imogen felt the uncertainty in her lover’s voice, and reached out to her, holding her hand tightly.  “Let’s just sit a moment alright?” She asked, feeling a bit faint. “That’s… that’s a big question Laudna.”

She sat on the bed, and ended up lying back, with her feet dangling over the side. The room spun a little, but the coolness of Laudna next to her was a wonderful anchor. She held her hand and gripped it firmly.

After a few moments of racing thoughts, she turned to her lover. “D’ you think it would work? Do you think she’d really be gone if we did this?” Imogen asked, wiggling over to cradle Laudna in her arms, eyes still wide with overthinking.

Laudna grasped Imogen’s hand, unable to contain her shaking. “I-I’m not sure love… it was just a thought…” she allowed herself to be taken into her beloved’s embrace. “I mean, you are very capable, no doubt about that.” She nuzzled into Imogen’s neck, taking respite in the familiar comfort of the lavender oil that had been freshly applied that morning.

“I’m so sorry dear… I wanted to ease you into this. You’ve been under so much stress, and I didn’t know how to bring it up…” Laudna traced the lightning marks along her girlfriend’s chest “I only thought… I only thought since none of the gods were really my fancy, the only being I would ever want to swear myself to… was you.”

Imogen hardly heard Laudna’s trembling words, she could feel the heartache bleed from her lover. She cradled Laudna, rubbing her back and offering sweet nuzzles as she tried to calm her down.

She felt the lingering touch along her marks, and her breath caught as Laudna caressed across her breastbone. “Oh… oh darlin’…” She crooned and kissed her lover’s cheek. “That’s work stress. It’s what our job is. Ain’t got nothin to do with you. I’m sorry you were nervous ‘bout talkin to me.” She said softly and gazed into Laudna’s eyes, using a corner of her sleeve to dry her damp eyes.

“I’m touched you’d want to tie yourself to me like that. We’ve been going on friends for nearly five years, and I… I know I can’t lose you again. That was hell without you plain and simple.” She said with a serious undertone, her hands clutching Laudna a little tighter.

“And if this keeps that bitch out of you once and for all, then I’ll do it. You saved me already, and I still owe you for… I still owe you.” Imogen said, unable to get the words out. She knew she’d have gone insane years ago from loneliness if she hadn’t met Laudna. All the voices all the time, but with her… it never hurt. She owed her lover a chance to be free. Just like Laudna had given her a chance when they met.

“I just don’t know how. I’ll… I’ll talk to Ashton, he’s kinda his own God with what’s in his head. And Fearne knows about stuff like this, with getting her power from fire. And the Tempest! I can ask her too she’s mighty powerful. Is that alright? Can you wait a little till I know what to do? You can come with me when I go see them ok?”

“Take all the time you need darling…” Laudna whispered shakily, relieved that Imogen hadn’t rejected the idea completely. “And please don’t force yourself to do this out of a sense of obligation to me.” She locked eyes with Imogen, lost within their violet depths. “This is a huge thing for me to be asking of you and I don’t want you doing it if I means you’ll suffer or be burdened.” She placed a gentle kiss on the sorceress’ cheek. “You’ve already done so much for me.”

Imogen blushed. “It’s not a burden, you aren’t a burden darlin’.” She said and played gently with Laudna’s hair. “I need you to know that alright? I’m doing this because I love you.” She said firmly.

She hugged Laudna close and whispered in her ear. “We’re going to do it. After we get some food in us, you’re going to come with me to talk to Fearne, Ashton, and the Lady Keyleth. You can be the note taker alright? And the Ashari have a lot of magic, I’m sure whatever we need we can get it or make it here.” She said and relaxed her grip slightly. “I’ll do whatever it takes to get you back. Every part of you. Delilah won’t know a piece of your soul when I’m finished with her.”

Laudna wrapped her arms around Imogen, “You really are incredible my love.” She kissed Imogen’s soft lips, lips that could cast such powerful spells yet speak such gentle words.

“If it adds some fuel to your fire of vengeance against her,” Laudna tapped a finger against her head to indicate who she was referring to “She spoke to me last night and said, “No matter who you pray to, no matter who you reach for, you are and will always be mine.”” Laudna put on a mockingly posh accent when quoting Delilah to try and downplay the fear she had felt hearing that voice in her head again.

Imogen clutched her stomach. “Gods Laudna, that makes me sick to hear it.” She said and held her friend tightly. “She’s been drippin’ poison over your heart for decades; you don’t deserve that baby. I’m so sorry.” She said honestly and refused to let go.

“I... feel like I don’t even want to stop touching you. Like if I’m beside you she can’t come in. Just like how you helped me in my dreams. Shit. Screw dinner, we’re goin’ now.” Imogen said and cupped Laudna’s face in her hands. “No matter what she says, it’s a fucking lie. I love you, always have, always will. You deserve to be free of her. You deserve to live. And I’m not going to stop tryin till it works for good.”

Imogen….” The sorceress had stolen Laudna’s breath away, what little there was of it. There were so many beautiful facets to Imogen that Laudna adored, but this side, her unwavering determination and passion, the way she could somehow convince Laudna that anything was possible, this was the side that made her fall deeply in love with Imogen.

Her hands made their way to Imogen’s waist as she pulled her closer into a deep passionate kiss.

“I love you too. Deeply, truly, eternally.”

Laudna’s haunting words of devotion reverberated in Imogen’s head, something that others would find disturbing, but she knew that Imogen quite enjoyed hearing the shadowed echoes of her thoughts.

————

They sat patiently as Keyleth absorbed the information, watching as she looked over the notes from Fearne and Ashton. Their teammates had offered Nana Morri, but she’d needed to make a bargain, and Ashton said they worried if they added magic rock to Laudna’s brain, the process might hurt Laudna more than help.

“Well, you’ve certainly gathered a lot of information for a short time.” Keyleth said and looked to the expectant women. “It… it may be possible, but I’d need to test Imogen. I’ve lent my power temporarily to some of my beloved Ashari, and the process would be similar.” She said and Imogen looked nervously to Laudna.

“I want to be good for you. I don’t want any part of my pain or darkness goin’ to you love. Can you check Keyleth? Check that too?” Imogen asked desperately, her hand tightening on Laudna’s.

Keyleth hesitated. “I can certainly try.” She said and looked to the two women with as much confidence as she could muster. “I’ll need a little of your blood, is that alright?” The Tempest asked, turning to fetch ingredients from her private stores.

“Anythin’.” Imogen said and held out her right hand, leaving her left entangled with her lover’s.

Keyleth stepped forward, holding out a silver knife and a mortar and pestle. They looked pockmarked, as if acid had been washed over them time and time again.

“Breathe for me.” She asked, waiting for the young woman to calm down, before gently cutting along the pad of her thumb, allowing rich blood to flow. The small cup filled quickly, and Keyleth drew her finger down the line to heal it, just as Imogen began to grow faint.

She leaned heavily against Laudna’s shoulders, and watched the Tempest take her blood away to the small table, and mix various herbs in.

“It’s a bit like a tea reading of the soul. I burn away everything but your essence, and what’s left will tell me what power you hold.” Keyleth said and began to grind the blood and herbs over and over, while smoke began to waft from it.

Imogen whispered to Laudna, “Look at her hands, she’s boilin’it herself.”, before shuddering. “Sorry feel a bit dizzy.”

Laudna put her arm around Imogen’s shoulder to stabilize her. “It’s alright love, let’s sit down for a moment.” She guided her girlfriend to the ochre and emerald coloured pillows in the corner of the room. They settled down as Laudna brushed stray lavender strands away from Imogen’s face.

“Tempest…” Laudna broke the silence, not breaking her gaze from Imogen’s face. “You fought Delilah in person… do you think we really have a chance to finally get rid of her?”

Keyleth winced and held up a hand, asking for a moment. She kept burning the mixture lower and lower, and the smell of copper filled the room.

“It's certainly possible, there’s only so much magic she can possess. Sooner or later, she’s going to run out.” Keyleth said and added a few more herbs before churning the mixture again.

Imogen began to gag and took a nearby wooden bowl off the counter to hold, just in case. Her stomach rolled and her world spun.

“Feel sick Laud.” She whimpered and the sensation only got worse as the smoke burned higher. Her bones ached and it felt like all her joints had ground glass in them. Her vision went white, but she felt Laudna next to her, and held on for dear life.

Keyleth mouthed “It’s alright” to Laudna, watching Imogen curl up on herself. If anything, it was a good sign, it meant the power she possessed was very strong and was trying to hide itself from her prying eye.

Finally, there was a poof! And a dark blue bubble of smoke popped, and Keyleth saw Imogen relax and come back to herself.

She looked at the charred remains in the bowl, tainted blueish purple, and began to consult her book. “Sorry I couldn’t speak much during the ritual.” She said to Laudna and looked through page and page of references.

“We’ve killed her several times, in a few different forms. But she’s no God. She was a mortal woman as powerful as I am now. If anything can get rid of her, it’s a child of Predathos. A Ruidus born.” She said and looked back and forth, stuck between two pages before finally deciding on one.

“Oh.” She said softly and looked at Imogen.

“Good oh or bad oh? What kind of oh?” The sorceress asked and held her head as the world stopped spinning.

“May I ask something rather personal?” Keyleth intoned before getting a nod from Imogen.

“Were you born with the flower to carry children? Or with the root to deliver the seed?”

Imogen blushed and looked to Laudna. “Ah, I’m female, I have a flower.” She said and looked to Laudna.

“And your father, was he… was he human?”

Again, Imogen looked to Laudna. “As, as far as I know. Why? What’s it say?” She asked trying to peer into the bowl.

Keyleth brought over the book and showed her the page, of a scantily clad young man, with horns, tail and delicate wings. The ring around the art matched the smoky remnants of her blood. “What is that-?” She asked and Keyleth blushed.

“It’s an Incubi. Imogen… you’re at least half Incubi. Possibly more. Either your father was one or made a deal and you carried the blood from that bargain, much like the child of one of my dear friends.” She said and looked to the worried couple.

“So… I’m that? Or mostly that? What the fuck.” Imogen breathed and began to laugh.

Laudna looked at the book, then at Imogen, then back at the book. “I’m afraid I’m a bit lost. What exactly does that mean for Imogen?” Laudna looked back to see Imogen… laughing?

“Darling?” Laudna put a worried hand on her girlfriend’s shoulder.

Imogen let out a long, weary sigh. “So, when I was datin’, or trying to, I remember not liking boys at all. And when I realized I had a crush on the dairy farmer’s daughter, I thought the only reason that could work is if my body didn’t know my mind was a boy.” She said and laughed harder.

“I know I ain’t, took me a few months till puberty kicked up another notch and I got breasts, that I realized I enjoyed bein’ a lady. But still that part of me wondered.” She said and turned to Laudna.

“I just think it’s funny, part of me was right. Incubi are only male Laudna. It’s Succubi that are female. Miss Keyleth here is sayin’ I’m part fiend. Not a devil, not a demon. It’s something all mixed up between that and mortals.” She said and tucked a stray strand of hair behind Laudna’s ear, trying to soothe her.

Keyleth handed the book to Laudna, and showed her the markings that matched with the cup remnants. “See here and here? These match the runic symbols. I’ll admit, fiendish blood carries some darker risk. You’d be…” Keyleth swallowed thickly.

“You’d be dependent on her, crave her like a drug in some sense. If you go through with this, if you try, you’d have to partake of her magic each time Ruidus or Catha are at their zenith, for the rest of your life.” Keyleth said and put her hand on Laudna’s shoulder, before getting down to kneel eye level with her.

“What I’m saying, is it can be attempted. Fiends are powerful enough to have thralls, and they can give them power to match. But you’d be giving Imogen a small part of your free will. Would you accept that?” The elder druid said, searching for truth in her eyes.

Laudna blushed fiercely at Keyleth’s implications “To be honest with you Lady Keyleth….” She flashed a sheepish look at Imogen, “That wouldn’t be much different then how I already feel.”

She couldn’t help but smile at the fact that the price she would have to pay would be a mere trifle in her eyes. To crave Imogen, to need her. Laudna was excited at the thought.

“Are you ok with that dear?” Laudna looked at Imogen trying to gauge her reaction.

Imogen blushed and looked at her beloved’s smile. “It makes me a little nervous, I like your willpower. I don’t want you to lose the fire in your soul.” She said and bit her lip. “But I trust your judgment, if you say you want this, even with what she said. Then I’ll try.” Imogen said honestly.

Keyleth looked at the pair and brought both their hands together, placing hers on top. “The most precious things in this world are the moments we share with one another. It’s all we’ve got.” She said, hearing Vax’s voice echo in her ears. “And a love fought for so fiercely, is one worth saving. I can lend you my assistance with this. If you’ll have me.” She offered, letting go so the young women were holding each other's hands.

Imogen found it hard to look away from Laudna. She swam in the sparkling joy in her eyes.

“What… what would the ritual even be? Does it say? And what would you do?” She asked, bringing Laudna close and wrapping her arm around her shoulder, kissing the crown of her head.

“I would act as a guide of sorts; with Fiendish energy I’d like to be close at hand if something went wrong. You would have the room to yourselves, I’d just be outside, feeling the change in magic. If something were to go wrong, I could be there in a flash to stabilize it.” Keyleth offered, her own heart clenching at the sight of the lovers holding one another. She wrapped her arms around herself for comfort.

“I’m more then ok with that my love. This damned woman has been in my head for over thirty years, and I want her gone. It’d be so lovely to have your sweet voice inside my head… more than usual that is” Laudna smiled warmly at her beloved until something Keyleth said tugged at her mind.

“Wait, what do you mean we’ll have the room to ourselves? What does the ritual entail?”

Keyleth turned away briefly to compose herself and used that time to bring down a series of books. “Giving that Imogen’s power will come from her Incubi blood… the transfer of that power would involve, ah... well sex.” She said with a blush. She turned to look though a large chest, and after a few moments of looking, handed Laudna a perfectly unused book of positions for two. “Keep this one, it was a gift.” She said with pink tinged cheeks and handed Imogen the other tome. “It should be… ah here we are, give it a glance.”

Imogen looked at the sprawling script, that seemed to wiggle into words she could strangely read. “Oh darlin’.” She breathed and caressed the pages as she turned nearly crimson up to her ears.

“Ah... Keyleth’s right, it, whooo boy. “The supplicant must offer up their body to be anointed through the night with the root of creation. Full submission is necessary, and the supplicant will need to be bound with heartstrings and gilded in silver.” Imogen swallowed thickly. “The transfer of power takes place from root to womb, and each spilling of seed grants further strengths and rewards.

“Ah… well…” Laudna blushed her odd shade of purple as she flicked through the pages of the book, awing at the detailed depictions of bodies entangled in passion. “The only problem is… Imogen doesn’t… have a… root.”

“Technically I do, it’s just small. A clit’s the same organ you know.” Imogen said and tried to fan herself to cool down. It was an unusual and heady mixture of nerves and arousal. Especially in the presence of the Tempest.

“Ah, that can be fairly easily adjusted. I can put a small charm on a trinket, and you may shape your body as you wish. It will last until you remove it.” She said and looked to the couple. “Especially since you possess Incubi blood, I suspect you’ll take quite well to it.”

Imogen tilted her head like a confused dog. “Well, I don’t hate it. But Laud, would that feel alright for you? I know I couldn’t imagine feelin’ a cock inside me. But what about you?”

“I’d take you in any form darling. All that matters is that it’s you.” Laudna squeezed Imogen’s hand. She gazed down at the sorceress’ hands when an idea entered her head.

“You said you could put a charm on something to change the body, right?” Laudna rummaged in the pockets of her skirts, “Would this work?” Laudna presented a silver ring that had motifs of lavender stems wrapping around the band meeting in the centre to intertwine around a square cut purple garnet.

“I found this for you while I was at the market today, it looked like it was made for you.” Laudna took Imogen’s left hand and slipped the ring on her finger, allowing her fingers to linger on her beloved’s hand for a moment. “These aren’t exactly the circumstances I thought I would be giving you this, but there’s no time like the present right?”

Imogen looked at the ring and offered her fingers for Laudna to place it on. It felt cool and comforting, and she admired it close to her face.  A heavy-set purple garnet, with silver filigree of lavender around the band. The cut on the gemstone was exquisite and it sparkled brilliantly in the light. She felt Keyleth’s hand cover hers, and listened to a few murmuring words, and felt it grow warm.

“There. That will do it. Just concentrate on what modification you’d like, and it will last along as you have it on.”

Imogen watched it sparkle and tried to hold herself back. “Thank you, Tempest. And Laudna, this is beautiful. It’s so perfect.” She said and kissed her beloved. “What do you say, do you want to try this? Tonight?”

“A-Alright!”

That one word carried so much weight to it now for Laudna. “As long as The Tempest is available to… oversee things.” Laudna was starting to relax to the thought about Keyleth handling the ritual. Her eyes held no judgement or disdain towards them, despite the initial tension concerning Imogen’s mother and the Rielora that had been summoned earlier.

“Are there any special materials or items mentioned in that book of yours?” Laudna craned her neck to peek at the pages of the book that Imogen held but couldn’t make out the text.

“It lists a few things, a silver throne, a nest to copulate on, ah, it goes into what may be required by each species to induce arousal.” Imogen passed the book and watched as Keyleth left them for a moment, talking quietly to someone down the hall.

“Looks like… well to be blunt, I gotta fuck Delilah out of you. The more seed I give you the more power blooms. And I suppose Pâté would be a barometer of how much she’s got left. They say here…. It’s like, oh, that’s a horrible image… they say it’s like a tide of passion ripping through an open wound. It cleans the wound, and when steeped in this new enchantment, you’ll be whole again, without any trace of “infectious” other masters.”

Keyleth nodded and left her assistant to ready the small ritual room in the basement. She closed the door and waved her hand, creating a small table from which food overflowed, wine and cheeses and little delectable meats. “A feast, to ensure you both have strength to do this. If you intend to start tonight, you’ll need your strength in an hour’s time. After all, Ruidus is nothing but full, and you should be too.”

Laudna’s eyes widened at the wondrous sight of dark wines, fresh cheeses and cured meats. Though her body looked like she hadn’t eaten in days, Laudna couldn’t resist a delicious meal. The candlelight cast a warm glow onto Imogen’s face, the oranges highlighting her beautiful, tanned skin.

Laudna took a sip of her wine when an icy voice spoke in her head.

This reminds me of our last grand feast together.

Laudna froze, her fingers fumbling as her glass shattered on the ground.

Don’t think I haven’t heard what you’re planning. You can try all you want, that pathetic human will never be able to break the hold I’ve had on you for all these years.”

Imogen reached for her lover, as Keyleth gave a weary look before picking up the glass.

“What is it darlin’? You ok?” Imogen asked and held her shaking hands. With a sinking feeling she knew what it was and steeled her gaze. “She’s only talkin’ cause she knows her time is up. Don’t listen to her Laud. I’m here. I’m right here and she’s going to be fucking gone.

Imogen stroked her hair softly, trying to comfort and console as Keyleth offered Laudna a blanket, hoping the warmth would help.

She bent down, and looked at Laudna, or rather, past her as she glared. “I remember Sylas’s screams each time I killed him. I remember you dissolving in acid, I remember Percy blowing your head off, and Vex putting a tree in your chest. Now it’s my turn you parasitic ghost. I’ll burn your mind and sunder your soul across the ancient rites until there’s nothing left of you to crawl back together. You will spend an eternity in the hells, and by my lover’s name I WILL MAKE IT SO.

Laudna stared in awe as Keyleth’s rage began to bubble to the surface, her voice reverberating through the room and silencing the necromancer in her head. She brought the blanket tighter around herself, convincing herself that the thick fleece could keep out the terror that had haunted her all these years.

She leaned into Imogen’s shoulder, focusing on her heartbeat to ground herself to the present moment.

“This bitch has overstayed her welcome.” Laudna hissed, Keyleth’s anger bleeding into her own. She looked up and stared intensely into Imogen’s eyes, “Show her who I truly belong to.”

“I will, I promise.”

Keyleth nodded solemnly at the couple as she stood up“Eat quickly you two, the sooner we get this done the better. It’s going to be a long night.” She said, turning her back to hide the tears in her eyes. Could she have done this for Vax? Push out the Raven Queen?

The idea made her chest ache. But then what of Vex? Her bargain would be void, and Vax would never forgive himself.

“My servants are gathering all the supplies you will need. Do not linger here. I will greet you downstairs.” The Tempest said, the rolling storm of emotions seizing her chest.

At least she could give these fledgling lovers a chance that she never had.
