Flight to nowhere.

Summary:

With her father hunting her down Kate takes a private plane from Gotham to visit her friends in National City only to discover Alice has her own plans for the caped crusader.

Notes:

So a quick bit of stage setting is probably in order. This is just a one off bit of fun playing around with what happened between S1 and 2 of Batwoman (and working on the basis that Ruby Rose didn’t leave but did want to cut her hours way back). So trying to stick within that existing framework while going in a slightly different direction. Oh and as I know some of you are missing it it’s a great chance for another SuperBat Begins moment while we’re here! ;-) Enjoy!

Work Text:

“Oh you’ve got to be kidding!”

Kate Kane shook her head in disbelief as she wondered where, exactly, her life had gone wrong in the last few days. First her dad had tried to kill her, betraying her into the bargain and now as she was trying to get out of the city…

“Surprised to see us?” The lead rabbit sneered as he entered from the cramped cockpit of the private plane. That, at least, was good news Kate thought. Even with the pilot in on the scheme there couldn’t be any more than four of them in such a small space.

“Didn’t know rabbits could fly.” Kate said with a sigh. “Look this really isn’t a good time, if you just want to get off…”

The man laughed and it was an ugly sound, harsh and mocking as it rolled around the cabin. “I think we’ll wait until we’re on the ground. You, on the other hand…”

He reached out to grab her and was surprised at just how quickly she ducked out of the way and by how much the kick hurt as it broke two of his ribs. He’d been too quick off the mark for his backup to have cleared the cockpit door which Kate cheerfully grabbed and slammed closed, hard. She heard the nearest thug curse and the dull crunch of his nose breaking from the impact.

For a moment she thought about just fighting but that probably wasn’t the best idea. Sure it’d probably be a really good form of stress relief but the fact was in such close quarters it’d be far too easy for one of them to get lucky. Instead she threw herself full length down the aisle to where her bag sat by the big padded leather chair. The plane had six of them arranged in a staggered pattern, three on either side and they could all swivel freely. Kate grabbed the bag in one hand and the edge of the chair in the other, rolling into cover behind it even as she turned it round to present the thick backrest to her attackers. She heard the lead rabbit grunt in pain as he got back to his feet and the crash of the cabin door as it was angrily shoved aside. None of that mattered though as she pulled out a familiar red and black belt.

When she rose to face them the belt was snugged across her hips and the reassuring weight of the four full pouches seemed to slow her heartbeat all by themselves. She whipped her right hand forward and before the leader could react a spinning chunk of metal had crossed the gap between them and hit him on the left temple. There was a flash as an energy pulse discharged and he slumped unconscious to the cabin floor. That left two more men halfway from her to the cabin and the pilot…

The two thugs gaped for a moment at how quickly things had turned around then started forward, their hands reaching for holstered guns. Kate almost laughed at how absurdly simple they were making this. She darted forward, a half dozen quick steps then she was airborne, diving between the gap they’d left and twisting in mid-air even as she brought her right knee up. It cracked into the already-broken nose of the man on the right and he howled in pain, staggering in the confined space of the aisle. His friend didn’t say a word, mainly because Kate had hit him with another charged Batarang - this one held in the palm and shoved hard against his neck - to knock him out. She didn’t even bother to look round as she threw a third to silence the swearing man behind her while she strode into the cramped flight deck.

“Knock me out there’s no-one to fly the plane!” The pilot said quickly having worked out what was undoubtedly happening to the rest of his friends.

“So?” The word was so cold and weary that the pilot actually swallowed, suddenly wondering what the hell he’d gotten himself into.

“So then you crash.” He said but even to his ears the words sounded uncertain.

“You’ll die too.” Kate pointed out as she casually tossed another Batarang from hand to hand.

“That’s… part of the job.”

“Do you want it to be?”

“Umm… well, not as a first option, no.” The pilot admitted.

“How’s a nice jail cell sound?” Kate thought for a moment then added. “Somewhere far away from Gotham. Central City maybe.”

“Uh… better than dying or being anywhere Alice can find us.”

“Great.” Kate tossed the weapon and was ready to catch his body before it could collapse forward into the controls. She heaved him out of the pilot seat and dumped him on the floor then leaned in and set the autopilot for straight and level flight on their current west-bound course. She gazed out of the cockpit window for a few minutes then seemed to come to a decision. She reached down and opened the hidden compartment built into the buckle of her utility belt and tapped the small button tucked inside while starting the timer on her watch.

A little less than five minutes later there was a knock on the cabin door. Kate double checked they were under ten thousand feet, made sure the makeshift safety line was secure around her waist and heaved it open. The sudden change in air pressure made her ears pop and a few loose sheets of paper were pulled outside but nothing too dramatic. Stepping in as casually as if she were getting out of bed Supergirl pulled the door closed behind her and surveyed the four bound thugs then gave Kate a quick once over.

“You’re okay?” Supergirl asked and Kate nodded, knowing that the girl of steel’s x-ray vision had already confirmed that particular fact.

“Yeah but I’ve got a delivery for the Central City police department if you wouldn’t mind?”

“Not a problem.” Supergirl said. “How tight are the knots?”

“Tight enough.” Kate said with a grin as the would-be assassins gave each other worried looks. A moment later there was just time to savour the shrieks of horror as Supergirl picked all four up by the ropes connecting their bound wrists to their ankles, opened the door, flew out and closed it again. Kate sat still for a few seconds to let any remaining adrenaline drain away then went and took the first seat by the door. She figured Supergirl would need about twenty minutes to get her cargo to Central City, five minutes to explain and a couple more to get back as she wouldn’t have to worry about human passengers on the return leg. Sure enough less than half an hour later there was another knock on the pressurised door and they went through the same slightly convoluted process to let Kara inside.

“Did that really happen?” Kara asked, taking a seat opposite Kate and sighing happily as the soft leather yielded to her slender frame. “Oooh, comfy, clearly this is the right way to fly!”

“Yes it did and yes they are.” Kate said with a small smile but her hands were balled in her lap, fingers twisting around each other and she seemed oddly distant. Which considering their usual back and forth borderline flirtatious banter was enough to worry Kara. She leaned forward and put a hand on Kate’s knee.

“What’s wrong?”

Kate sighed and shot Kara a wry smile. “That obvious huh?”

“Maybe. Just a little.”

“I…” Kate hesitated then seemed to shrink back into the big chair. “What’s right Kara? My dad’s actively hunting me down, Beth’s still out there and getting more detached from reality with every passing day, my step-mom’s dead, I haven’t even started trying to find Bruce and assassins are trying to kill me on my own plane!” She felt a couple of tears roll down her cheeks and angrily wiped them away. “I spent years going all over the world, trying to learn the skills to make a difference and ever since I put on that damn cowl all I’ve done is made them worse!”

Kara considered this for a long moment then decided honesty was definitely the way to go. “Well that’s not true.”

Kate looked up, surprised despite herself at the matter of fact way Kara had said that. “Huh?”

“That’s not true.” Kara said and she started to tick each point off on her fingers as she talked. “You saved Sophie, like, a bunch of times. You’ve started to turn Gotham around and give people hope again. Wayne Enterprises is back doing what it does best, helping people. If it wasn’t for you we might never have got to the bottom of that whole Book of Destiny body swapping nonsense and, oh yes, you were one of only seven people to survive Crisis and reboot the entire multiverse!”

Kate stared at her friend open-mouthed but Kara clearly wasn’t done yet. “Look… you’re never going to be able to save everyone. None of us can do that.”

Kate drew breath to protest but Kara cut across her. “Or at least we damn well shouldn’t do that as that’d mean enslaving the world and making people behave themselves or… umm, or else. I’ve seen what happens if we go that way and even if it works - which it won’t - it wouldn’t be worth the price.”

The hurt in Kara’s voice drew a sympathetic look from her friend. They’d never actually talked much about what had happened with the whole Earth-X thing but Kate had gotten a primer from Alex and had quickly realised why Kara might not be in a rush to talk about it. She reached down and placed her hand on Kara’s and gave a reassuring squeeze.

“I know.” Kate said softly. “And don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting we should be able to do… uh… everything. But I’ve made so many mistakes…”

“Have you?” Kara asked and once again she caught Kate off guard. “How much do you know about Batman?”

“Well he’s my cousin so…”

“No, not Bruce. Batman.” Kara chuckled and shook her head, her gaze suddenly somewhere far away and long ago. “Same way I thought I knew Superman just because we’re related.”

“Oh. Umm… not that well I guess. I mean, my only real interaction with him was when he was trying to stop the Joker and things went, umm, wrong.”

“So you know him from the media then?”

“I… guess?” Kate was clearly confused and Kara suddenly hated herself for what she was about to do. But she didn’t see any other way and at least it was a friend saying it.

“The Batman.” Kara put enough ‘movie announcer guy’ in her tone to get a chuckle from Kate which was exactly what Kara had hoped for. “Always prepared, never sleeps, feared by all, a beacon of hope in a festering city. That sound about right?”

“More or less.”

“And you believe that?”

Kate was silent for a few seconds then said, very slowly: “More or less.”

“Really? Always prepared?” Kara shook her head. “I heard about what he and Clark got up to when they got past the mutual distrust thing and worked together. Even met him a couple of times, though I think that was mostly Clark making sure Bruce didn’t think there was another Kryptonian being held back as some secret weapon or something like that. And, yeah, he’s probably the world’s greatest detective and a damn good strategist but… no-one is always prepared for every circumstance.” Kara steadied herself knowing her next words would cut as surely as a knife and probably far deeper. “Otherwise your mother wouldn’t have died that night.”

Kate’s face seemed to drain of colour and she went as still as a statue. For a moment her eyes blazed with anger and Kara found herself wondering if it was possible for humans to spontaneously develop heat vision. Then, to the Kryptonian’s shock and with an obvious effort, Kate pushed the anger away though her eyes never left Kara’s face.

“If anyone else had said that…” Kate’s voice was hoarse from the effort of not yelling the words or outright screaming in Kara’s face. “But you’re right.”

“Sorry. I wish I wasn’t.”

“I know.” Kate took a deep, shuddering breath and lowered her shoulders, forcing tense muscles to relax. “But I also know that mistake ate Bruce up inside.”

“I’m sure it did.” Kara said softly. “But it didn’t stop him doing what needed to be done. And because he didn’t there are countless people alive today who otherwise wouldn’t be. Gotham’s still here where it could so easily have fallen into ruin. And thanks to you taking that legacy on there just might be a future for the city, a future Bruce might not have thought possible.”

“If that’s true… why did he leave?”

Kara winced. She’d hoped Kate wouldn’t ask that question but honesty had got them this far. “I don’t know. I’ve tried to find him since our realities merged. So has Clark. But there’s just… nothing.”

“So he’s dead?”

“Ordinarily I’d say if we couldn’t find someone then that’d be a fair conclusion. But if anyone could hide so completely not even Kryptonians could find him it’d be Bruce Wayne.”

Kate went quiet and found herself spiralling inward, her own dark thoughts wrapped around Kara’s words as the future rushed towards her with terrifying speed. The plane seemed to fade into the background and she focused on her hand atop Kara’s as her mind raced. She didn’t even realise she was crying until Kara moved in a blur of super-speed, lifting Kate smoothly up out of the seat, slipping in beneath her and lowering her down again so Kate was now sitting in Kara’s lap as the girl of steel wrapped her arms around her in an all-encompassing hug. Slowly the tears stopped and Kate stilled in Kara’s arms. Kate gave a soft chuckle and Kara couldn’t help smiling.

“What’s so funny?”

“If I’d known all I had to do to get you to hold me was cry I’d have swallowed my pride months ago.”

Kate had been expecting Kara to stammer and blush while trying to get herself out of the hug with as much grace as possible. Instead, and much to Kate’s surprise, Kara actually shuffled them round until Kate was sitting with her back against one of the arm rests and able to see Kara’s face.

“Do you want to know the really bad news?” Kara asked with a grin that was at once both comforting and strangely enticing.

“Umm, yes?”

“All you really had to do was ask.”

Kate felt her jaw drop open and for a long moment all she could do was gape silently at the Girl of Steel. She’d always wondered what her friend would sound like if she was actually trying to be seductive but even her more speculative guesses had been way short of the mark. Kate swallowed and tried to work some moisture back into her mouth.

“I’ll… umm…. Keep that in mind?”

“Good.” Kara smiled and her blue eyes sparkled with mischief. “What else is on your mind?”

“You. And….” Kate sighed and waved a hand around to encompass the aircraft and the world beyond it. “… and all of this.”

“Well let’s start with that.” Kara slipped with enviable speed back into fully supportive mode as she considered the problem. “Do you know what you want to do?”

Kate opened her mouth to reply then closed it again. She let a long breath hiss out between her teeth and her head dropped so far her chin was almost touching her chest.

“Yes.” The word was so quiet Kara doubted a human would have heard it. “But I’m afraid to.”

“Whatever it is, you won’t have to face it alone.”

“Don’t make a girl a promise until you know what you’re being asked to do.”

“I mean it.” Kara said and she gave Kate’s shoulders a gentle squeeze. “You’re not alone in this, not anymore. Not now, not ever.”

“I… thanks, Kara. That… that means a lot. More than you could know.” Kate took a deep breath, held it for a few long seconds then let it slip past her lips as she lifted her gaze to meet Kara’s. “I… I think I need to vanish for a while.”

She’d half expected Kara to object but she was once again surprised as the Kryptonian simply sat where she was with a patient, inviting smile on her lips. Kate didn’t need a second invitation and now she’d started she felt like she’d explode if she stopped.

“I need to get out of Gotham. I need my dad to stop hunting Batwoman. I need to save Beth and I need to find time to go track down Bruce. And… and to do all of that I need to not be Batwoman anymore. Or, at least, leave her behind for a little bit.”

“And Gotham?”

Kate nodded and took a moment to collect her thoughts. “Gotham… needs the Bat. I think, I hope I’ve done some good but, yes, right now the Bat vanishing would just put everything back into the same awful place it was when I put on that cowl. And… and I think if you can help I know how to do all of it. Or, at least, how to start it.”

Kate fished inside her t-shirt and pulled out a small circular pendent on a silver chain. She pressed her thumb to its surface and there was a very quiet click as the two halves swung open to reveal a miniaturised USB drive.

“I’m not Bruce, whoever he really was when he was the one wearing the cape and cowl. I don’t have his mind. But that doesn’t mean I’m stupid either. And every since we went through that Crisis and I realised just how big and terrifying the universe can be I started working on a backup plan. I thought I was making it in case I died… and in a way I guess I was.”

“Uh, fully supportive of course but I’m not killing you.”

Kate laughed and shook her head. “Not asking you to, don’t worry. In fact almost the exact opposite. On this drive are a bunch of files that someone who’s clever and committed can probably read and understand. There’s a batsuit in a very secure cargo area of this plane. And I’ve got the addresses of half a dozen possible candidates who could take on the mantle, at least temporarily and all of whom are going to be very obviously not me while wearing the suit.”

“If that’s true then they’re going to be a bit suspicious when all that info suddenly appears in their mailbox.”

“I know, that’s why we… and by we I mean you… very carefully drop this plane next to them.”

“What?!?”

“A plane crash. A very convenient plane crash that drops what they need into their hands along with enough evidence to get….” Kate’s voice caught for a moment then she got herself under control again. “… to get Luke involved. He’ll take it from there. And as far as he or anyone else knows I died in the crash. My holdings in Wayne Enterprises are in secure accounts that my will states very clearly go to my very best friend in the world should anything happen to me.”

Kara blinked in surprise and had to double check that there wasn’t the hint of a smirk on Kate’s face. “Me? You… you’re talking about me?”

“Yep. Needed someone I could trust to make sure the company wasn’t sold for parts and keep it true to its mission of ethical capitalism. And, uh, to be honest if this gig ended up killing me unexpectedly I figured it would be a good way to tell you it wasn’t your fault.”

“Oh. Uh… thanks? Thanks! But Luke… you’re going to tell him this isn’t for real, right?”

“No. No I’m not.” Kate winced at the look in Kara’s eyes and shrugged. “I know it’s an awful thing to do but in the long run it’ll hurt him more trying to keep the secret. I’ve got a few alternative identities set up but if you can talk Alex into using the DEO to create a new one that’d help too, especially if she doesn’t know who it’s for.”

Kara thought for a moment then nodded slowly. “I can probably get her to let me set it up then encrypt the file. No-one will know who I did it for. And I think I’ve got some tech at the Fortress that can help with things like hair colour, maybe even eye colour too. I mean you’re still going to be stunning but at least you won’t look exactly like yourself.”

“Thanks.” Kate said with a warm smile while mentally tucking the word ‘stunning’ away for later use. “Do you think you can help Beth as well? Get her out of Gotham and into a nice secure safe house with access to a decent mental health specialist?”

“I’m sure we can find a way to do it that’s not too obvious.” Kara said after a moments thought. “But you’re not telling her you’re alive either?”

“No. Not yet. She’s the one that set this up and she knows me well enough to at least be suspicious if there’s no body.” Kate sighed and seemed to shrink a little as the weight of her decision bore down. “That’ll have to do, for now at least.”

“And how long do you plan on staying dead?”

“I’m… not sure. Until I find Bruce? Maybe longer if things don’t go the way I hope?”

The silence stretched out between them until, after almost a minute, Kara nodded slowly.

“Alright. Alright I’ll help you do this. On one condition.”

“Which is?”

“If things go bad you resurrect early. Same if we need our paragon of courage back to save the world.”

Kate laughed mirthlessly then caught the look from her friend. “Sorry it’s just… don’t feel like a paragon right now.”

“You should.” Kara said softly. “What you’re doing… you’re putting your entire life on hold for the good of those you care about. Sounds pretty courageous to me.”

“You’re sweet but a terrible lier.” Kate said with a chuckle but Kara reached out and grabbed her hands.

“I’m serious. And whatever happens I’ve got your back, okay?”

Kate stared at Kara then, very slowly, a knowing smile slipped onto her lips. “Where’ve you been all my life?”

“Another universe.” Kara said with a matching grin. “Tends to get in the way.”

“That’s one of the better excuses I’ve heard.” Kate admitted. “Alright, if we’re going to do this we should probably get started. Going to be a bit tricky to crash a plane close to Gotham that was last seen about to touch down in National City.”

“You’ve got the location?”

“Of course. Just be careful when you put the plane down. It needs to look like a crash after all, not a landing.”

Two months later

Supergirl flew so low to the ground she had to dodge the occasional bush, the green and brown bracken below zipping by in a blur as she navigated her way up the valley. She glanced up at the ridge line and spotted the stone farmhouse she was looking for. Sure enough just below it was a small clearing in the wild undergrowth with a rough path cut up to the front door of the old building. She touched down and quickly changed out of her supersuit and into the simple stonewashed blue jeans and white t-shirt she’d brought with her in the small rucksack tucked beneath her cape. The suit was simple enough to fold down and store within though the boots needed a bit more finesse as she swapped them over for basic trainers and socks. Floating a little way off the ground at least made sure her feet stated dry during the change then she walked up the hill and knocked on the wooden door.

“About time you got here.” Kate said with a grin as she swung open the door and beckoned Kara inside. Her hair was a dark red and her normally blue eyes seemed to glitter like emeralds with her smile.

“Do you know how many valleys with farmhouses there are in this country?” Kara countered.

“A lot?”

“A lot. And I think I’ve visited every one of them! How’re the nanobots behaving themselves?”

“Perfect so far.” Kate reached up and ran both hands around her ears, as if tucking invisible stray strands of hair back into place. As Kara watched a wave of colour rippled from Kate’s fringe to the nape of her neck, turning the red hair back to her normal brown and a moment later her eyes changed back to their usual blue. “Feels a bit weird when they do that.”

“Looks cool though.” Kara offered. “I’m assuming you didn’t just call me out here to get me lost?”

“No. Have a look at the hill opposite us.”

Kara frowned and did as Kate directed. Almost immediately she spotted the old earth works and giant water wheel tucked in to the base of the hill. “A mine?”

“Yeah. Llywernog Silver Lead mine to be exact. Dates back to the mid seventeen hundreds if you can believe it.”

“It can’t still be in use can it?” Kara asked as she took in the remains of what had to have once been a fairly sizeable village for workers scattered in a haphazard pattern a little way from the main entrance.

“Well that’s the funny thing. Last mining here was over a hundred years ago. There’s still ore in the ground but it made no sense to go to the trouble of getting it out when massive and far more profitable mines were being opened up elsewhere in the world. Fell into disrepair for a while then got opened up as a mining museum in the mid seventies. That lasted until about ten years ago when it shut again and has remain closed ever since. Yet every three weeks a convoy of four trucks comes here with enough food and equipment for a small army.”

“What? That can’t be right…” Kara tried to focus through the surface of the mine using her x-ray vision onto find a wall of darkness waiting for her. Kate noticed the puzzled look and shrugged.

“As I said, there’s still lead ore in the ground which makes it a very convenient hideout in a world with a couple of Kryptonians being all dashing and heroic.”

A sudden suspicion bloomed in Kara’s mind and she looked from the mine to Kate and back again.

“You think Bruce is in there, don’t you?”

“Or that there’s at least a hint as to where he might be, yes.” Kate shook her head and leaned back against the nearest wall. “Tracking down even that much was difficult enough.”

Kara laughed and turned back to face her friend. “I bet. From Gotham to a Welsh valley… no wonder you’ve not been returning my calls.”

Kate grinned and gestured out at the mine again. “Well I’ve got no idea what they’ve put in there. For all I know they can pick up a mobile signal at a thousand yards, it’s why I hiked ten miles before turning my phone on again. I haven’t even turned on the electrics in here and been eating cold meals.”

“So… what’s the plan? Hit ‘em when the next convoy turns up?”

“No. Well, sort of…” Kate’s eyes unfocused for a moment as she ran through the details in her head one last time. “We hit the trucks way before they get here. About thirty miles should do it, they come in during the night and there’s plenty of places in the mountains where we could raid them without being seen. Strike fast, steal the supplies and let the drivers walk back. If we do it right they’ll never even see us, it’ll be like the trucks just vanished.”

“Right. And then?” Kara sounded a little dubious but Kate plowed on regardless.

“First, check to see if there’s any hints as to what they’re doing from the cargo. Raw materials, spare parts that sort of thing. Second wait and hit the next convoy they send as well.”

“They’ll be expecting that.”

“But the won’t be expecting Supergirl and Batwoman. It won’t be a problem.” Kate said reassuringly. “By that point I’m expecting everyone to be getting a bit edgy not to mention hungry. Unless we find some reason not to raid them we use the third convoy as cover, slip in the back way.”

“There’s a back way in?”

“No but I figure wherever Supergirl wants to go there’s a way in.”

Kara chuckled and nodded. “Yeah, that’s fair. Depending on what’s between us and them I can probably dig through that hill pretty quickly.”

“And after that…. Well, then we improvise.”

“Sounds like a plan.” Kara said then stopped and thought for a moment. “One question?”

“Only one?”

“How were you planning on passing the next two days?”

Kate laughed under her breath and took a couple of long strides forward so she was well clear of the wall. “Do you remember in the plane you said if I’d wanted you to hold me I just had to ask?”

Kara swallowed nervously and found herself suddenly and intensely aware of the way Kate’s lips were ever so slightly parted and the way the curve of her cheek seemed like it would fit perfectly in the palm of Kara’s hand. “I remember.”

Kate licked her lips and looked up, locking eyes with the Kryptonian. “Hold me?”

Kara gave Kate the warmest, softest smile that Kate had ever seen as she slowly stepped forward and wrapped her arms around the shorter woman, pulling her in close. Kate rested her head on Kara’s shoulder and sighed happily.

“How’s that?” Kara asked, her words whispering through Kate’s short hair and tickling her ear.

“Not bad.” Kate said as she wrapped Kara up in a hug of her own. “One small note though.”

“Only one?” Kara asked, deliberately echoing Kate’s earlier reply.

“Hands should be lower down.” Kate growled and she demonstrated exactly what she meant by letting her hands fall down until her palms were firmly pressed against Kara’s butt. She wasn’t entirely sure what Kara’s response would be but felt her heart sing as, after a moment of shock, Kara chuckled into her ear.

“What, you mean like this?”

Kara’s hands travelled down as well, gliding over Kate’s taut ass before cupping her butt from below as if Kate was sitting in her hands.

“Mmmm, perfect.” Kate sighed and without warning she jumped in the air just far enough to give herself time to wrap her legs around Kara’s waist. She felt Kara effortlessly take her weight without so much as a tremble and then they were practically nose to nose and Kara was right there leaning towards her…

The kiss was soft and tender, both women a little tentative but growing quickly in confidence as they realised the other was comfortable with the boundary they were rapidly racing across. Kate’s head swam as she felt Kara’s right hand come up to caress the back of her head which meant the blonde was effortlessly holding Kate in place with just one hand. The truth of who, exactly, she was kissing hit Kate at almost the same moment as Kara turned them around and backed Kate up against the wall, pinning her gently in place to make sure she couldn’t escape. Not that Kate had any intention of doing so but the thrill that shot through her at Kara being so… so aggressive was one Kate instantly knew she could so easily get addicted to.

Kara meanwhile was having similar thoughts as Kate’s leg squeezed her ribs hard enough that even she felt it and the scent and smell of the other woman washed over super-powered senses. With the few people she’d been with since arriving on this planet she’d always struggled to adjust to that, the way their presence instantly became this big other ‘thing’ in the room that was always distracting her. With Kate though she found herself fascinated by the other woman as if her very essence was moulding itself around Kara’s soul the way their bodies seemed to fit so naturally together.

Finally with air becoming an issue Kate reluctantly broke away with a gasp but while she tried to look serious and seductive she couldn’t keep the big, goofy grin from her lips.

“So….” Kate said, leaving the next move up to Kara who grinned in a way that Kate had never seen her use before but which instantly made her worried about the immediate future and eager to experience it.

“So… two days until we need to go intercept that shipment, right?”

“Uh, yes.”

“And no power in the house? No TV, no comms no nothing?”

“Pretty much.”

“Well then Ms Kane…” Kara leaned in for another kiss but stopped with her lips brushing Kate’s so lightly it was as if she were being kissed by a ghost. Kara whispered in a voice so loaded with need that Kate almost climaxed right there and then.

“…. however shall we pass the time?”
