Beyond The Sea

Summary:

What if the threat to the mythological world didn't end with Gaea? What if there's a darker force than mother earth looming over the camps?

From one war straight into another.
From losing friends to gaining family.

Basically, what if our main protagonist didn't have Annabeth with her in Tartarus? What if she stayed in the pit a little longer?

Notes:

Percy Jackson doesn't belong to me, but to the lovely Rick Riordan. Soooo, this is incredibly cringe-worthy at times. I'm still attempting to edit it as much as possible without completely rewriting it. Bear with me. The further you get into the story the older I get. This work spans a timeline of about ten years, so it's a little all over the place. But I wanted to post it or I never will. Enjoy!

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

The universe. What do we know about it? It’s big, that’s for sure. But haven’t you ever wondered where it all began or how it came to be? Well read carefully, because I’m about to tell you.

We start at the very beginning when there was nothing but darkness, an endless void of darkness. The powers that be, that nobody not even I myself can tell you about, created a ball of (no, not light) darkness. It was even darker than the universe itself, a lot like a black hole. It started growing until it became close to a corporeal form. No one knows what exactly it looked like, for it was the first being to ever be created. It named itself Chaos.

Not long after, another ball was created. This time one of a pure white light so bright you had to look away before losing your sight. This being didn’t become corporeal but rather stayed in its original form, energy. This one named itself Order.

Chaos began by creating all the planets first, starting with (of course) Earth. Order’s job was to maintain the balance between morals, principles and what is considered wrong and right. Chaos on the other hand wanted nothing but to cause havoc and a lot of it.

Two beings who were the complete opposite of one another, yet perfectly balanced. Only they wouldn’t stay that way. Their controversial personalities would create an imbalance in the very fabrics of our universe. A tear that influences our small world even now. Together these beings formed the universe and everything as we now know it. Although there is a part that we don’t know about.

When Chaos designed Earth, Order fell in love with the planet and called it its favorite one. When both Chaos and Order had children, they named them the Primordials. Order gave them their domains and Chaos their power, each based on their respective domains and duties in life. Order decided that Earth might need some protection later and tasked five of his and Chaos’ children to do it, Gaea; Tartarus; Ouranos; Erebus and Nyx. They were the Primordials of the Earth, Underworld Pit, Sky, Darkness and Night respectively. Chaos naturally was jealous of the attention Earth received instead of his favorite planet Orcus. So, it corrupted the Primordials sent to guard Earth so that Order would never be able to stop his precious planet from slowly destroying itself.

The result of his influence caused Gaea to have children with both Ouranos and Tartarus known as the Titans and Giants. Ouranos was later banished to his realm in the sky by Gaea and her preferred son Kronos. Nyx and Erebus disappeared in Tartarus’ Pit never to be seen or heard from again. Tartarus himself was tied to his own Pit causing him to never be able to leave or become corporeal. Before he too vanished, he used his last strength to put Gaea in a deep slumber, leaving her incapable of using her powers.

The offspring of the Primordials were corrupt because they were created by the same energy, like siblings. The Giants stayed in the Pit while the Titans ruled the Earth with an iron fist. When Kronos and his wife Rhea had children, they named them the Gods. Kronos was afraid they would overthrow him. So naturally, his solution was to eat them. Their immortality was the only thing that kept them alive inside their father’s stomach. Rhea, saddened and angry for the loss of her children, managed to save her son Zeus from the clutches of her husband and later helped him to save his siblings. Together with his brothers Hades and Poseidon, Zeus managed to do the same to Kronos as he once did to his own father; cut him into pieces.

The Gods ruled the Earth with Zeus as their king from Olympus, creating Ancient Laws preventing them from interfering with mortal affairs, hoping to stop another age of terror and slavery.

The Gods later known as the Olympians were a lot like their ancestors, meaning they couldn’t stay away from the world of humans. Many of them went down to Earth and had affairs with mortals, resulting in the creation of an entirely new species. Half-Bloods or Demigods as they prefer to be called. Many of these Demigods became heroes and fought for their parents. By embarking on dangerous quests and fulfilling their godly parents’ wishes, they hoped to gain favor. This story is about one of those heroes who had to face horrors like none before her.

Her name is Adrianna Jackson, daughter of Poseidon and Heroine of Olympus.

This is her story beyond the sea.
