Chapter Text
With every breath the Dag took, Cheedo’s head was lifted up and down. The angle of her neck should’ve been uncomfortable, but the steady movement was comforting on an almost instinctual level, a reminder that they were both there, both alive.
They laid together in a pile of blankets on the ground, bathed in a patch of moonlight streaming in through the window. Cheedo lifted a lock of Dag’s pale hair, admiring the way it seemed to glow in the silver light. Cheedo’s dark hair was fanned out over them, making her feel like the inky, infinite night sky cradling her beautiful star.
Dag’s bare skin was hot against Cheedo’s in the cold night, her face blissfully relaxed, lips just barely open. Her hands, resting entwined with Cheedo’s, still smelled of the tomato vines they had been working as the sun set.
Shifting slowly to not wake her lover, Cheedo propped herself up on her elbows, reached up, and pressed a kiss to the Dag’s parted lips, tasting salt from the sweat that had evaporated in the cool night air. Settling back down on to Dag’s soft chest, Cheedo let her eyes fall shut. Moving with the Dag’s gentle breaths, she drifted to sleep.
