Chapter 1: 1.

Chapter Text

The day was too hot. All day Fujin had been attending to his crops in the sun, with only his clothes to protect him. He was lucky his hair shaded most of his neck and face otherwise it would've burned. His hands were covered in soil and his knees were dirtied too, a day that had been no different than the ones before.

He had no idea how long it had been since the timeline reset but now that he was human he no longer had to worry about such things. All he needed to put his focus on was making sure his crops were watered and maybe also the mysterious figure making its way onto his land.

He looked up, a tall and hooded person was approaching him slowly. No doubt the temperatures were slowing them down and he assumed the hood, which seemed to be of some kind of fur, was only against burning and not the cooling factor. Their slow pace concerned him and he thought they might be injured so -with caution- he got closer.

"Are you Fujin?" the voice was easily recognizable, but knowing not all kept their memory he acted surprised.

"I am, who do I owe this pleasure to?" he smiled, if this Nightwolf was anything like the one he knew he wouldn't mind the slight joke in his tone.

"Nightwolf." There was a pause between them. Fujin had met many Nightwolves, allied with them, and build up friendships. All he needed was the confirmation that this was his Nightwolf.

"Grey Cloud," was added shortly after, a smile appearing on Fujin's face as soon as he said that. "Your brother had a message for you."

"Raiden wishes to speak with me? I wonder why he sent a messenger?" He had to remind himself this Nightwolf wasn't familiar, the teasing would likely not be appreciated.

"I am not a messenger, I am an ally of your brother here to inform you." His voice was stern but no different than the one Fujin was used to.

"So a friendly messenger?" This wasn't taken well by Nightwolf. Without hesitation, he swung at him, Fujin's fast reflexes worked and caused him to bend backward, only to get his legs swooped out from under him.

He fell with his back to the ground and let out a slight wince, looking up at the sun before the shadow of the other man washed over him and he was face to face with him again.

"A trainer." A hand reached out for him and Fujin held himself back from making another comment, a friendly trainer I hope
