Chapter Text
He kept his gaze completely fixed on the stack of papers in front of him. What was going on with him? What went wrong, and where did it go wrong? Even though he gave this endeavour his complete attention, the results were much below average. He figures it'll only be a few hours, maybe two, until his phone starts ringing nonstop till he answers their calls and listens to them yell at him for ruining their firm.
He intends to commit suicide. Not at all. He has yet to meet the rapper he greatly admires so much. He also hasn't spent at least his final years in a deserted town on the outskirts of Iceland with his adopted dog, which reminds him that he hasn't adopted a dog at all.
He needs to pick up the pace since the incidents that make him want to jump out of a moving plane are becoming more frequent. It shouldn't be a problem...
He's at it again.
Jeon Jungkook suffers greatly from a severe lack of focus. And especially on things where it is desperately required. Like this one endeavour in which he was intended to show his family that, despite being their sole heir, he was still valuable.
However, the harm has already been done. He can't go back in time and advise the Jungkook in charge of the next project not to watch Alice in Borderland while sketching. Not to mention not watching Squid Game while working on the project. Last but not least, refrain from watching Jujutsu Kaisen for the eighteenth time.
He sighs again. Even he feels embarrassed and enraged at himself by how the project was a complete failure. And he doesn't have a personal vendetta against himself. He just can't imagine the reactions of his family and extended family due to this. They will kill him even before he gets to reach the end of a cliff to jump down. And again he doesn't want to die because he wants to… not again Jungkook, for goodness' sake.
'Crying over spilt milk won't get you anywhere,' He reminds himself. It's preferable to hunt for plausible justifications than to obsess over his nonexistent pet dog and an Icelandic villa.
So he gets up, takes enough deep breaths and calls his secretary in to bring the assistant managers in. The said managers told him multiple times to think about his decisions again, but he very confidently told them that he's their boss, not the other way around. He needs to tone down his super mysterious boss agenda.
He discusses all the potential questions that will be fired in his way later with them, but still, there's only so much he can predict.
It starts with a phone call. Upon seeing the name of his dad on his phone screen, he suddenly straightened up as if he would see him, which he obviously can't through a voice call. He puts the phone on his ear and utters a very respectable hello but the screaming voice from the other end makes him detach his ear from the electronic device at the speed of light. He hates technology (he doesn't for other reasons) for being fast enough for his father to know things in the shortest amount of time.
That phone call went super bad. But that was just the start because he will have to encounter his parents at their idiotically big house later. And that is extremely bad, like the worst thing to ever happen.
He will binge-watch all the movies of Kung Fu Panda while eating a big tub of ice cream tonight after he visits his parent's residence. Or maybe take a walk in a park and later eat instant ramen at the nearest 24/7 convenience store. He will have to decide that later, after knowing the degree of his sadness.
He ends up taking a stroll at the park near the subdivision. The degree of his sadness was far greater than he thought would be.
It started with him pulling over to his parent's mansion. Usually, he would just leave the car with the keys in the ignition right in front of the door and some personnel at their house would park it at a better parking place. Then all the people working there would bow to him and ask him if he was thirsty or not.
But today as he got out of the car, the guard at the door looked at him and said, " Excuse me, sir, as you can see this isn't the parking place you think it is." Before Jungkook could retort, the guard mouthed ' Mr Jeon's orders'. That's how Jungkook knew he was fucked up for real this time.
After parking his car and passing by the workers who didn't even look his way, he reached the open where he found his father sitting on a love chair looking intensely at something on his iPad.
" Bring your mom from her study," his father told him when he advanced to sit on a nearby settee. Even when he knocked on his mom's study and told her of his arrival, she came out pointedly, ignoring him and walked in the general direction of the open.
It wasn't the first time he had fucked up, but it was the first time he was being treated like shit.
He trailed behind his mom and reached the open but just as he was about to sit again on that one settee, " you're not allowed to sit, stand here in front of us," his mom seethed. Maybe this is what you get when you're born to a highly political author and her businessman husband.
They started with how he disappointed them, how they wished their only child was a little more competent and multiple other things. It wasn't like that he was ignoring them but that all they said was heard by him a zillion times before, but this time it had some more edge to him.
" We should just sell our company to someone while it is not completely ruined. What do you think about that, Jungkook-ssi?" His mom said.
" Yes, and we'll give him his fair share of money so he can live the rest of his life away from my sight while I recover from the grief of losing my lifelong labour." This time, it was his dad.
His parents have always been a little (read way too fucking much) dramatic.
After like two more hours, he was free to go with a final warning that if he shows any more incompetence, he'll be sent back to his business school again.
Jungkook hates his business school. He just loathes studying.
It all started with his graduation. Just as he graduated, his father, who was the chairman and CEO of Jeon Motors, gave up his position as CEO for his only heir, Jeon Jungkook.
It has been like three months and if Jungkook counts, he has fucked up for like two times. He knows if something like that happens another time, he will have to see the entrance of his business school again. And knowing his parents, he knows that they'll make it happen.
He decided on a late-night stroll because he knows he won't be able to concentrate on the movie with thousands of things on his mind. The best he can do now is to run multiple laps until his legs start to hurt. And that is exactly what he does. Until…
Until he sees a dog. A dog of that very breed that he has wanted for quite some time now. He squats down to look at him closely and sees a collar around its neck from which the leash has been detached. He was just about to pet it, " Jjangu-yah, if I'm giving you free choice of movement does not, in any sense, mean that you're allowed to run around the entire park." The voice came from some distance, but seeing the dog visibly react to it made him think that it was addressing him.
Jungkook looks up at the source of the voice and he's gay. He has always been gay, but he's gayer now. Because standing in front of him is a deity, a god of beauty, the very son of Aphrodite and Adonis. He sees a man standing there, looking directly at them.
" Sit," the man utters in a voice loud enough to be heard by most in his radius.
And Jungkook, who is already squatting, sits on the balls of his feet very respectfully with his hands resting on his thighs. He has his head down with his eyes fixed on the ground as if it is the most interesting thing he has ever encountered. He remains seated, but no further reaction comes his way.
And then he sees it. The dog, whom he was petting earlier, is sitting in front of him looking at that man, whose shoes are the only thing Jungkook can see. Maybe to whom that man was speaking was not him, but that dog in front of him. Meekly, he tries to look at the man, and to his surprise, that man was looking right at him.
He stays there completely still as if he would stay still enough either he or his disappointment will perish. But none of that does, and the man continues to look at him pointedly, so Jungkook does the next intelligent thing and shoots a smile in his way and maybe that man was waiting for any reaction from him because now he is laughing like crazy.
“You seem to be into such things,” the man speaks in between gentle laughs. “By the way, I was talking to my Jjangu here.” he points at his dog as he cradles it. Jungkook knows he's red down to his toes, but there's no way he can get himself out of this.
“Will you remain seated down there, mister? or should I give you another order to get you up?” the man chuckles as he attaches a leash to the dog’s collar.
Jungkook sits up haphazardly upon listening to that man. He dusts down his clothes while he tries to hide his face in the hood of his jacket.
"It isn't what you think it is." Jungkook stammers. He knows his statement is anything but true.
"So you are telling me you're not into puppy play when, just a minute ago, you were sitting on the ground very politely." The man smiles. Jungkook can save himself from additional embarrassment if he runs fast enough.
" 'M not into puppy play." he defended himself.
"Okay, whatever helps you sleep at night. By the way nice seeing you, now I will leave you to it." the man says before waving and walking past him.
Can he kill himself, please? Today was just too much to handle.
He drags himself to the nearest convenience store to buy himself more than just a couple of ramens to eat while he drowns in embarrassment. He gets two super spicy ones because only it can settle the disappointment inside him. He'll make the next four instant ramens after finishing these two. After adding an egg to each, he goes to sit in the eating area and then he sees it.
He wants to fucking die.
He would have run if he wasn't seen by the other. The dog, namely Jjangu, he remembers, is now tied to the table as he eats beef jerky, and that man from earlier has his mouth full of ramen as he watches him goofily with his cheeks filled with ramen as he chews it. He turns to sit elsewhere, anywhere but in the proximity of this man.
“If we all gather our embarrassment together, it will become confidence,” that same voice says after gulping the food down his throat. " Puppy." That puppy part came later and Jungkook thinks that the noodles would look great on this man's head with the soup streaming down his body.
“I’m not embarrassed. Who told you I’m embarrassed?” He asks him pointedly, ignoring the term of endearment or embarrassment. He's yet to figure it out.
“No one did, I’ll go after eating six more you can sit here,” He says so casually. “Or you really wanna enjoy the winter nights under that worn-out umbrella outside?”
He waddles to the tables and sits at the very last chair, which separates them both by two entire chairs. The distance is enough, he reminds himself. He would just not give attention to Satan's son.
"That reminds me that it's our second encounter and I don't know your name," Jungkook sighs audibly, "or should I keep calling you a puppy." The man is enjoying this too much.
"See, I had a very bad day today. And you're making it worse. I am in no way looking for some company." Jungkook countered.
The man seems to acknowledge that as he schools his face to a genuinely serious expression.
"I am sorry. It's just a habit of having small talks. I won't bother you again." That man apologises and continues to eat, but this time without saying anything.
Jungkook eats to his contentment, and that man keeps eating whilst using his mobile phone beside him. He proceeds to pay and puts the trash away.
Before Jungkook goes out after eating, he taps the shoulder of that man. He looks back, tearing his eyes away from his phone screen to Jungkook giving him his entire attention.
" I am sorry for earlier. I just had a rough day, and I lashed out at you when you were just trying to lighten the mood. I am Jungkook, by the way." He says before smiling politely at him.
Before he could leave, he heard the man yell, “I am Seokjin, Jungkook-ssi!”
*************
It has been three months since Jungkook fucked up and since then he’s learned one thing and that is to listen to others and another which is to fucking remain within his boundaries, which is kind of hard for him but he’s trying (cut him some slack he has always been the privileged rich kid).
It is the last days of August and he’s worried because things have been way too calm. They shouldn’t be. He’s sure Tweedledee and Tweedledum are up to something, but a heads up would be nice. Sometimes it is hard for him to handle them, but they are the only friends he managed to befriend in the twenty-four years of his existence.
He leaves a text in their group chat and the lack of reply confirms his suspicion to him. Usually, they’re the ones exploding his notification panel but they’re being eerily quiet this time. Something is not right.
It all starts with him entering his home and finding both of them casually lounging on his sofa, eating his dear snacks.
“I gave you guys the key for emergency only.” he casually mutters, which was enough for both of them to leave their phones and look up at him.
“This is a dire emergency. Just go and freshen up. We're leaving in ten minutes!” they announce.
Jungkook finds himself in the backseat of a familiar car after ten minutes.
“Give him the clothes.”
“Yes sir!”
“What are you both up to? And I am not changing here,” he yells.
“Jungkook, my sweet summer child, we are only trying to help you. Okay!” the one on the passenger seat looks at him pitifully.
“You’re not changing here. We're going to my place. And another thing, if you try to do anything against our orders, it will not end well.”
“Have you both finally lost your mind? Are you abducting me? Stop involving me in your weird role-plays, please.”
No reply comes his way.
When they reach that apartment, one of the two hands him the clothes from the car, “Just go change and leave the rest to your very trustworthy best friends.”
“You guys are anything but trustworthy,” he replies.
“PARK JIMIN! KIM TAEHYUNG!”
Before he could do anything, he’s jumped on by both of them. “Just trust the fucking process,” one of them yells right into his ear.
He gives up.
Minutes later, he finds all of them in the lounge wearing extraordinarily flashy outfits.
“We're born stunners,” Jimin exclaims, checking them out in the mirror.
“Look at you Jimin, you’re not leaving anything to the human imagination.” Taehyung hoots at him menacingly.
And he is still afraid of what's about to come.
"Can you both at least tell me where we are going? He asks them.
"Jungkook, we are going to the church," Park Jimin tells him very solemnly. But Taehyung's muffled laugh from somewhere behind him makes Jimin laugh.
"Jimin, I am serious-,"
"Yeah Jimin, they won't let you in when you're looking like that."
"Jungkook, come here dear. Look at yourself in the mirror and tell me where we are going." Jimin pats him on his head while pushing him towards the full-length mirror.
Jungkook looks at him and only now does he digest his appearance because he's looking like lust personified.
With the red eyeshadow on his eyelids, shiny lip gloss, and pink blush on, Jimin put some effort into his make-up. And the way it makes him look naïve yet blunt, Jungkook might have fallen in love with himself.
Now looking down, he sees the choker around his neck, a black leather collar with a shiny jewel in the centre attached to a small metal ring.
He is clad in a black crop top with skinny pants which wrap around his feeble waist most beautifully. Even he can't tear his eyes away from himself.
Taehyung and Jimin are in similar but less provocative black outfits. Well, Jimin kind of opened the first three buttons of his shirt and he might be flashing his entire chest out, but that's not Jungkook's main concern because he will make the headline of tomorrow's newspapers and tabloids if he's caught like this.
" Jaykay, Jimin-ah, it's time to get hitched," Taehyung screams at them excitedly.
They are in the parking lot of a club. Jungkook should have known this, but again he expected something more… wild from them.
At least it is more normal than what he had in mind. A club is okay for just a birthday celebration. It is more than okay, considering that Jimin's mind works like Lucifers when needed.
The club looks expensive, even from the outside. The big neon letters reading Casablanca right above the entrance were a sight to behold. The parking lot is full of extravagant cars, which proves this club can only be afforded by the rich.
"Okay Jungkook, look," Taehyung pulls him out of his thoughts just as they're about to enter the lavish building, "It is your day, okay. Which means that we'll get drunk a little together and then you're on your own."
"Our Jungkook-ie is now a big boy. I know he'll be fine on his own," Jimin says just before entering the lavish building.
"And maybe you can score yourself a daddy here," it was Taehyung this time, looking at him while wiggling his eyebrows.
"What are you- Kim Taehyung, where are we?" He hollered.
"It's just a BDSM club. Calm down Jungkook, you'll be fine," Jimin said as he took his face in both of his hands, making him look like that one stupid sandwich meme.
" I WILL LITERALLY KILL THE BOTH OF YOU!"
They are now sitting at a bar in the club, separated by the crowds, Jimin ordering shot after shot while Taehyung is taking little sips of his fruit punch. Jungkook has a glass of whiskey with clear ice in it, which he's trying hard to melt.
"What are we supposed to do now?" Jungkook asks a slightly tipsy Taehyung to his left. But the boy is too far gone to answer, so Jimin pipes up his head and looks at him pathetically.
"I knew you were bad, but I had no idea that you were this bad. I should've just gotten you a cake to cut and call it a day," Jimin said with utter disappointment and Jungkook felt embarrassed for doing this to his friends.
"I'll join you both later," Jungkook says as he stands up from his stool.
He thought that it'd be better to explore the place than to drink while looking at Jimin's disappointed face. This is why he finds himself moving up a staircase.
Just as he reaches the last bits of steps, he feels a presence behind him. He turns around to see a man wearing a fitted three-piece suit with hair covering half of his face and the remaining half is difficult to figure out in the barely lit corridor.
The man enters the gate situated in the far corner of the corridor with a man standing tall right next to it.
"Yes?" the man who seems to be a guard questions as Jungkook tries to follow the masked man into the room.
"I am with him," Jungkook answers while pointing at the man who had just entered.
"Let me confirm it first."
Jungkook ends up entering that guarded door and he's still not sure why he was permitted in the first place. But just as he enters the room, he spots that same man sitting on a couch with some other people, but his line of vision is set right in his general direction.
He looks back to see the door closed and with no other choice, he starts to take careful steps toward that very person.
Just as he is close enough to that man still seated, someone bumps into him from his right side.
"Ah Jungkook-ah, here you are!" the man who bumped into him exclaimed, which made Jungkook look at him in surprise.
" Ah Jin-ssi, I was having a moment here," the seated man says curtly.
Jungkook is in shock because he has seen this face before. He's heard this name before and just as he puts them both together, he remembers him. He's 'the man' from that park. The one that humiliated him enough.
"Stop luring innocent people, now would you?" Jin replies to him in the same way.
"How can you prove that he's with you?"
"We're friends."
"Yeah Seokjin-ssi and I are friends," Jungkook finally manages to say.
Seokjin, with a gentle hand on Jungkook's back, guided them towards the other corner of the room.
"You don't walk into such spaces," Seokjin speaks to him boredly.
"Excuse me!"
"Do you even know where you are? And if he would've gotten his hands on you, that wouldn't be good," he continues to speak as he sits down on a black leather couch.
"And how do I know that you're not a danger?" Jungkook challenges.
"Hey there kiddo, just sit here for a minute and then leave or if you're that much interested, then you can go to that walking red flag!" Seokjin says coldly.
They both sit there for a little while in utter silence.
"How do you remember my name?" Jungkook asks with piqued interest. Seokjin looks at him in disbelief before mumbling a little 'good memory'. After another minute of utter silence, Seokjin stands up to leave-
"Where are you going?" Jungkook inquires, which makes Seokjin scoff.
"I don't know why you're here, but I'm here to enjoy. I just helped you get out of his claws." He motioned at the person whom Jungkook followed inside. "Let's part our ways. It was nice meeting you again, puppy."
"Wait. No, I- I don't know much about this place. Can you please get me back to my friends at least?" Jungkook says slowly.
"Do you know where they are?"
"They were at the bar when I last saw them but knowing them they won't be there anymore," Jungkook stands up, at last, to stand tall next to Seokjin.
"I'm feeling like a babysitter," he sighs, which makes Jungkook roll his eyes but continues to say, "Okay let's get you back to your friends." Seokjin starts leading the path.
"By the way Seokjin-ssi, how is Jjangu?" Jungkook asks after a beat.
"You still remember?"
"With what transpired that day, it was kinda hard to forget," Jungkook admits sheepishly.
"Makes sense," Seokjin says with a throaty laugh, "and Jjangu is more than fine."
They searched for the two demons for quite a time. None of the two answered their calls, which made Jungkook worry a lot, but when he found Taehyung face-first into the bar, he knew Jimin was nearby. They found Jimin in a crowd, laughing his heart out with people who were there as voyeurs. Jungkook knows Jimin has always been a charmer.
Just as Jungkook and Jimin's eyes met and Jimin noticed the tall and intriguing presence behind Jungkook, he excused himself from the crowd and approached Jungkook with a shit-eating grin.
" Aigoo Jungkook-ie, you've got yourself a nice daddy," Jimin exclaimed.
" It was nice meeting you Jungkook. I'll be on my way now."
Before Jimin could interject or Jungkook could kill Jimin, Seokjin was already on his way back to the stairs.
Now that they were alone, Jungkook's brain was analysing a hundred and two different ways to kill Jimin and Taehyung.
"At least my plan scored you a fine man. Even though it was for like eight seconds," Jimin said, setting Jungkook's collar.
He is going to jump off of the highest peak of the mountainous regions of central Asia. But not before slicing Jimin's and Taehyung's bodies into bite-sized pieces so the fishes in the Pacific can thoroughly enjoy them.
Jungkook, Jimin and Taehyung ended up surviving.
Deep down Jungkook knew that if anything, those two did him a favour. Sure, he did feel embarrassed, but for the past three months, he couldn't move the image of that man, Seokjin, from his mind.
Their first interaction, when Jungkook looked up to see him gazing down at him with utmost surprise which transformed into a mischievous grin in no time. He can't help but worship that memory of his.
From then onwards, Jungkook, like the responsible man he is, decided to lounge in the bars of Casablanca. He would go there every week religiously. Sometimes more than a single time a week if he has more time to kill (he makes sure to have some extra hours to kill).
It's not like he finds Seokjin every time he is in the club. But when he does spot the said man, he winks in his direction with a Flynn Rider smirk™. Seokjin just shakes his head from side to side to show his disappointment.
Their third interaction was when they finally got to spend some time together. Seokjin found Jungkook in that room, again, to his utter disappointment. Just as Jungkook spotted Seokjin in the room, he strode over to him, taking big, confident steps.
"I told you to not enter this room," Seokjin fumed.
"Who even is letting you in? That man outside isn't supposed to let any twink enter."
"Hey, who did you just call a twink? And I tell him that I'm here to see Seokjin and he lets me enter," Jungkook began.
Seokjin lets out the biggest sigh Jungkook has heard in his twenty-five years of existence.
From then on Jungkook was not allowed to enter that room.
"What even is in there that you need to keep this much confidential? You guys just lounge there."
"The entry to that room is an immediate consent that you can be picked up and you are ready to have a d/s scene," Seokjin explains.
"The man you were talking to on your first visit was trying to get into your pants. And he isn't the most ideal person to have your first time with."
"I am not a virgin," Jungkook states.
"Okay and I'm ugly. By the way, where do you get enough money to afford Casablanca? Don't you have homework or something?"
"Seokjin-ssi, I have already graduated from business school. I am now working at a corporation." Jungkook gave Seokjin a tight-lipped smile.
Seokjin looked at him with utter surprise.
"You've graduated? I thought that friend of yours took you here to celebrate your eighteenth birthday or something."
"I am twenty-five," Jungkook deadpans.
"Oh!" Seokjin said it while being in deep thoughts. And when he looked up to Jungkook, the next time, his pupils were dilated, taking in Jungkook's form one more time but in a more calculating way.
"I should get going," Seokjin said after a while, being in utmost urgency.
***************
It was their last project of the year. Jungkook was enthusiastic about making it his first successful project. To give this project his undivided attention, he decided that he would not go to Casablanca for the next two months.
Before he could start his work, he decided to visit Casablanca for the last time in a while.
He longed for half an hour but didn't catch sight of Seokjin. He stayed there waiting for some more time, hoping he would see the elder. After around a quarter of an hour, he stood up to ascend the very identical flight of stairs, the same as he did on his first day here.
He walked up to the guard next to the door, the one he conversed with on his first time visiting Casablanca.
"Um hi! Is Seokjin-ssi in here?" He asked meekly.
"No."
"Can you tell me where he is? I need to see him urgently."
"One of the rules of Casablanca is to keep the information of the patrons confidential."
"Do you know when-"
"I would appreciate it if you would leave."
He didn't meet Seokjin that day.
Jungkook found this project way too difficult. It was getting on his nerves when it has only been a week since this project started. He started ignoring his friends and family too, just thinking about that project. But still, he was staring at the blank screen of his laptop.
It was one in the afternoon and all he did was nothing, even though he was trying very hard to concentrate.
It was when his phone began ringing that he was forced out of his staring contest with the screen. He ignored the first ring and then the second one too, and many others. When he finally turned over his phone to look at his screen, it was Jimin who was calling him.
He attended the next call but before he could utter a single syllable, Jimin's voice boomed from the other end.
"Jungkook, you need to come here right now. Taehyung is sick."
"Where are you Jimin hyung?" he asked in a moment, quickly closing all of his work.
"I am at his place. Come here quickly," Jimin's concerned voice came through the speaker.
Jungkook collected his things from the desk before bolting out of his office and driving toward Taehyung's apartment.
He found Taehyung doubled over the toilet, spilling his guts out while Jimin sat beside him rubbing his back with one hand and holding a glass of water in another.
"Tae, can you hold it in for a while? We need to reach the hospital to get you checked up," Jimin asked in his worrisome voice.
"Jimin hyung, I'm here. Tae hyung, let's get you to the car."
"Jungkook, he keeps on vomiting. He can't sit in the car."
"Get some paper bags hyung. I'm taking him down."
After stopping at multiple places to let Taehyung vomit in static (as Jimin put it), they ended up at Seoul University hospital. The two of them ran inside the hospital, with Taehyung's face inside another paper bag and each of his arms clutched by his other two best friends.
"He keeps on vomiting!" Jimin nearly shouted in panic at the main desk.
"Calm down, please. And stop running. This is a hospital. " the woman behind the desk said, with a tight-lipped smile.
"He needs a doctor. He's been vomiting nonstop! " It was Jungkook this time who whispered in the utmost emergency.
One of the staff asked them to follow him to the emergency room. Before they could reach there, Taehyung once again took a deep breath and threw the remaining contents of his stomach out. But this time, it's not in the paper bag.
Amid the sudden chaos, someone just grabbed Taehyung's hand and ran to the next available room.
"Take these plastic bags and use them. I'll call a doctor," the nurse said.
They sat on the chairs surrounding the hospital bed as Taehyung sat on it with his face in the bag.
The door opened in about five minutes, and a man entered the room. The said man took one look at Taehyung before asking him to lie down. He adjusted his face in a propped-up position.
"Both of you need to leave the room." The doctor said before the further examination.
Half of the doctor's face was covered with a mask, but Jungkook knew those eyes all too well. And that voice... he would never forget it, but this time it was more strict and commanding.
Jimin went out, but Jungkook stayed inside with his eyes wide open and his jaw slack. Jimin had to enter the room again just to drag Jungkook out into the corridor.
"What happened, Jungkook-ah? Stop looking at me like that," Jimin muttered.
"Jimin hyung, he was the guy from that BDSM club."
"Don't tell me!"
The doctor came out of the room after a while. As he did, Jimin and Jungkook jumped up from their seats to ask him about Taehyung.
"He seems to have a gastrointestinal infection and he drank alcohol over it," the doctor, Seokjin, said. "He's currently getting an IV. He will remain admitted for two more hours under my observation, and then you can take him home."
As he spoke, Seokjin noticed Jungkook's presence for the first time. Their gazes locked for a fraction of a second before Seokjin turned away from Jimin, nodding in response to whatever he was inquiring about. But he kept his face neutral and, after answering some more of Jimin's concerns, walked away from them.
Jungkook remained standing there for a minute or two before coming to his senses and starting to follow Seokjin.
"Seokjin-ssi!" He spoke.
Seokjin stopped in his tracks and, after a moment, looked behind. The mask had now settled under his chin and his face was visible for the world to see.
He took a couple of long steps before standing right in front of Seokjin.
"Hello!" He said weakly.
"Hi Jungkook-ssi!" Seokjin replied.
They kept standing there for a couple of seconds as Jungkook searched his brain for any words to form that could get him some more time with Seokjin.
"Jungkook-"
"Why aren't you coming to Casablanca?" Jungkook questioned.
Seokjin kept looking at him, startled at the sudden mention of the club.
"Can we talk about that some other time? I have to attend the multidisciplinary round in a couple of minutes. "
"Can you at least give me your number?"
"I'll meet you in your friend's room later." With that being said, Seokjin tapped lightly on his arm before turning into the right corridor and disappearing from Jungkook's sight.
Jimin left for some work-related appointment with the promise of coming back after two hours. Jungkook, who had nothing important to do, remained seated on the bench across from the patient's bed.
The nurse came in about an hour later to check on Taehyung. Jungkook got his hopes up when the said nurse knocked at the gate. He stood up haphazardly to greet Seokjin, but as he opened the gate, a sleep-deprived young woman entered the room, slightly bowing to him.
He waited for half an hour more, his head lolling from one side to another due to the lack of sleep. He was about to doze off when the door opened slowly. Seokjin entered the room as silently as possible. Jungkook, who was on the brink of sleep at the last minute, was now wide awake, greeting Seokjin with a little nod.
Seokjin moved towards Taehyung, checking him for the last time today. Hopefully. He then moved towards Jungkook.
They both kept a respectable distance from each other as they looked everywhere but at each other. Seokjin decided to break the ice, which started to feel a little uncomfortable now.
"He's good to go. Just wait till this IV is completed and then he can be discharged. " Seokjin's tight-lipped smile followed the sentence.
Both of them stood in front of each other for a good minute or two.
"You can come into my office, yeah. I get off at five today. "
All right,I'll drop Hyung off at his home first. I'll see you later. "
Taehyung was now on his bed in his apartment.
"Jimin, you won't believe me. That was the most uncomfortable silence ever. If the hot doctor hadn't said anything, I'm a hundred and ten percent sure he would have stayed standing there ogling at him like a fool. "
Jungkook sneered in his direction because he thought Taehyung was sick. Wasn't Taehyung throwing his insides out earlier that day?
"Nothing of this sort happened! And stop calling him the hot doctor," Jungkook piped in his defence.
"They haven't even started dating each other yet and he's already getting on my nerves," Taehyung sighed.
"Tae-ah, don't make fun of him, yeah. Our Jungoo is still in his high school crush phase."
Please, hyung, stop calling me Jungoo. What am I? Five? "
"He's now even fighting us for him. The only two people he managed to befriend in his thirteen years of living." Taehyung winced as if he was physically hurt, and Jungkook now really wants to give him a punch or two.
"When I saw him at the club, I didn't know he was a doctor," Jimin said after a while.
"None of us did," Jungkook countered.
"Well, come to think of it, the profession suits him. What if he has medical kinks? Oh my God. Jungoo, I approve," Jimin clapped his hands in excitement.
Taehyung's eyes shot open when he heard Jimin's statement, and then those stupid eyes narrowed down to Jungkook's lone existence. Something is cooking in that gutter brain of his. Jungkook knows that.
"HE ASKED TO MEET YOU TODAY? AT HIS OFFICE? BEFORE FIVE? " Taehyung shouted.
"AND YOU'RE TELLING US THIS TO US, NOW?" Jimin's shout followed Taehyung's.
"Can you guys at least stop shouting?" Jungkook rolled his eyes while munching on some crackers he managed to find in Taehyung's pantry.
"Get up now! We're going to help you get dressed!" Jimin ordered, leaving no room for an argument.
"I'd rather die than let you two get involved in this!" he shouts back at them.
"The last time we dressed you, you managed to get his attention. And this time we'll make sure you come out of his office with wobbly legs," Taehyung answers him from their bedroom as he continues to dig into their closet to dress Jungkook in something fuckable.
"Jimin, do you think your red crop top will fit him?" Taehyung questions Jimin.
"Wait, Taehyung-ah, do you remember those black leather pants I bought for you? Where are they?" Jimin says as he completely ignores Taehyung's question.
"I hope you guys know I'm going there to meet him, not to get fucked face first in the sheets!" Jungkook shouted from where he was seated on the couch but none of the demons listened to him.
Jungkook has no choice but to seethe on their couch as he eats nearly expired crackers.
Jungkook was looking at his reflection once again in front of that same mirror, but this time he was dressed modestly. Well, in a relatively modest manner.
He was dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt and tight pyjama pants that accentuated his broad bottom and hugged his small and delicate waist. This is better than what they're capable of, and he's relieved that he won't have to deal with them again.
"These are the most basic clothing I have ever seen," Taehyung moaned, looking in the mirror at Jungkook's reflection. "He will be actually turned down. "I am certain!"
Jimin tapped him on his shoulder, indicating to be quiet, "You know Jungkook-ah, this outfit is super low by our standards and I'm sure he gets patients wearing something better than this, but I'm not going to say anything because whatever makes you happy." With a straight expression, Jungkook nods in agreement.
"Thanks for the clothes, hyungs," Jungkook said before racing out of their shared apartment. "It's becoming late, so I better get going," he said.
Jimin and Taehyung exchanged glances before sighing for a fraction of a second and jumping on each other because, well, why not?
In the parking lot of the massive medical complex, Jungkook fixed his shirt for the nth time. His anxieties are getting the best of him right now, but he won't let this precious opportunity pass him by this time. He wiped his sweating fingers on his slacks before straightening his bangs with another look at his phone. He was finally able to leave his car and head to the hospital.
He has no idea where Seokjin's office is located. He is the worst of gays. He is well aware of this.
"What do you mean I have to book an appointment?" Jungkook inquired of the receptionist, exasperated.
"That is exactly what I told you, sir. To see Dr Seokjin, you must make an appointment." Jungkook looked at him once again before rolling his eyes.
"He told me to come here, to his office, at five o'clock. He's taking a break right now. Call him to double-check."
"I'm sorry, sir, but we won't be able to, but if you know him personally, you can phone him." Jungkook is hating his younger self for being a snob and not getting his phone number sooner.
Now, what should he tell the receptionist that the doctor there is the protagonist of every wet dream that Jungkook has managed to dream of in the last few months?
In the meantime, a feeble lady approaches from their right, setting her glasses on the bridge of her nose as she sits down behind the reception. She notices Jungkook, as well as the thick tension between him and the male receptionist.
"Yes sir, how may we help you?" she asks Jungkook as she looks in his direction with undivided attention, urging him to speak.
"Doctor Seokjin, uh-" The woman interrupted him before he could finish his sentence.
"You must be Jeon Jungkook, right? Doctor Seokjin is looking forward to seeing you in his office. She beckoned for him to step aside so she could assist the people behind him. "His office is on the second level, room number G-32," she said.
Jungkook gave the male receptionist a smug smile, which the poor fellow studiously ignored because he was underpaid for this nonsense. Jungkook can feel his nervousness rising in the pit of his stomach as he exits the elevator and steps onto the second floor. Before heading to room G-32, he takes a few deep breaths.
As he stands in front of the wooden door, a slate in the middle, he mentions Seokjin's name and his specifications.
Jungkook takes a few deep breaths before knocking on the door.
Jungkook pulled the door open as the lock clicked open, effectively allowing him to enter the room. He discovered Seokjin sitting down behind his desk, his mouth filled with food. "Ah, Jungkook-ah, you actually came," Seokjin said, his ramen noodles hardly swallowed, and Jungkook should be disgusted, but he isn't.
"Yeah, Seokjin-ssi," Jungkook said, simply standing in the middle of the room, palms in the front of his black slacks, trying not to look awkward.
"You may have a seat here. Is it possible for me to place an order for you?"
"No, I just had snacks," he replied, specifically referring to the long-expired packet of crackers he had actually consumed earlier.
"Okay, that's OK. So I'll go grab you a cup of coffee." Jungkook bowed slightly and nodded.
They sat in awkward quiet now that the coffee was in front of him and Seokjin had finished his lunch. Jungkook felt comparatively smaller in Seokjin's presence as he sat back in his chair and fixed Jungkook with a particularly keen glare.
The fact that Jungkook was smaller than Seokjin had nothing to do with it. He was only a few inches shorter than him in height, which doesn't show when he wears his chunky boots, and despite having a petite bone structure, he managed to pack on a lot of muscle to appear on the surface slightly more muscular than he was.
But something about Seokjin made him feel small and insignificant. The elder had a steely-eyed glance and a tight jaw at the club, yet he had the softest of eyes and an encouraging grin with his patients earlier. Jungkook's head was screwed up by the precision and control.
Even now, Seokjin kept a calculating look on his face as he got frustrated with the boy who was lost in his haze right in front of him. Seokjin made a snapping motion with his fingers in front of his face.
"It has been twenty minutes since my shift finished. Seokjin politely and respectfully stated, "I need to go home," as he examined the chain watch on his wrist.
"That's right. I was only curious to learn as to why you weren't planning on visiting Casablanca."
Seokjin returned his stare, totally surprised and not in a nice way.
He growled, "You wanted to know why I wasn't coming to the club?"
When Seokjin spoke angrily, Jungkook curled up in a ball himself.
" I'm sorry if I come across as disrespectful, but Jungkook, I have more important things at hand," Seokjin yelled fiercely, clearly upset by Jungkook's search query.
Jungkook didn't respond, and he didn't even look up at him. He just kept staring at his hands, which were resting on the tops of his knees. "Are you sure you understand?" It was said by Seokjin.
"Yes," Jungkook said quietly, but Seokjin picked up on it. "I'm sorry, but I have to leave," Seokjin remarked as he gathered his possessions and proceeded for the door.
The problem is that no matter how incredibly irresponsible Jungkook is, one thing he isn't is inconsistent. He still vividly recalls those days in his hometown of Busan, when he and his extended family visited a water park.
His cousins, who were a year or two older than him, wagered that whomever swam around the pool first would win two popsicles instead of one. Jungkook came in second the first time they tried it, but despite the chlorine water drenching him from head to toe, he could still feel his eyes burning and tears ready to spill. Because he was young, the elders offered him two popsicles since he was crying and they actually felt sorry for him, but he refused to eat them.
He came in first the next time he went to the beach with them, swimming faster than any of his cousins. He didn't earn an extra lollipop for it, but the rush of excitement, shortness of breath and lightheadedness were a reward in and of itself.
Jungkook sat in utter disbelief at the elder's unexpected outburst, and he heard him depart. From the first time they met till now, he was stunned by all the fond memories of them together. And this time he had made up his mind that he wasn't actually going down without a fight.
He jumped to his feet and surged forward now, grabbing Seokjin's hand and pulling him towards himself. Seokjin let out a gasp as he was quickly and violently rotated 180 degrees. "I really want you to become my dominant," Jungkook looked up at Seokjin's face as they both gazed into each other's eyes right there.
