Chapter Text
Okay it's fine, breath in... breath out... in... and 1, 2...
"Hey Nino!" greeted Adrien as he made his way to the school's entrance.
"Hey dude! What's up?"
"Wow you really dolled up man, I don't think I've ever seen you without your hat!"
"Yeah, I know! My girl Alya told me to dress fancy to match her dress so I had to leave the hat and the headphones at home today. But it doesn't bother me as much as I thought actually."
WINTER BALL. The party everyone was talking about for months now has finally arrived! Led by Rose, the entire school gathered together to make a night to remember before Christmas break. Thanks to the Dupain-Cheng’s cookies, Nathaniel and Marc’s comic books, an Ultimate Mecha Strike tournament and many more, they were finally able to gather enough money to decorate the school’s courtyard with lights and balloons everywhere, lots of food and drinks, a made-up stage for Kitty Section to perform in later and even a DJ-
"Damn that DJ sucks..."
Adrien laughed at Nino's comment.
"It's not funny dude, I would do a much better job"
"I know, I know Nino. But we’re supposed to have fun tonight, right?" Adrien was still chuckling at Nino’s annoyance "And not everyone has good taste like youuuu"
"C'mon it's not that hard! At least have some Jagged Stone songs and everyone would be happy! Dude his new album was so good, the-"
"Hey boys!" greeted Alya.
Nino gave Alya an appreciative look before kissing her cheek. “Damn babe, you look amazing!"
"Nino's right, that color really accentuates your skin tone" Adrien complimented.
"I know, right? Marinette really knows how to make dresses like no other, that girl even finds curves I didn't knew I had!"
"Marinette made it?" Nino asked.
"Yes, we've been planning our dresses for weeks now. You're actually matching with her dress Adrien."
"Really?"
"Yeah, well... kinda. Hers a lighter blue"
"Where is she?"
"I'M HERE!" Slightly panting and flushed cheeks, Marinette finally arrived.
And Luka, walking calmly behind her.
"Sorry guys" he said, chuckling "Marinette here thought it was a good idea to make macaroons for everyone last minute"
"It wasn't last minute Luka, they just needed to be fresh so they taste better, okay?"
"Okay girl, you can breathe now, let me just fix your hair a bit" said Alya while trying to get her friend together and fixing some fly aways.
"You both look amazing!"
"Thank you, Nino, you guys do... too..."
Only now noticing Adrien, Marinette went from breathing way too much to not at all. Adrien. In. a. suit.
OH MY GOD THIS ISN'T REAL LIFE! Okay Marinette calm down! Calm. Downnn. You already went through this, just be yourself! Okay, okay... Focus on the clothes! Yes, that's right! The double-breasted suit is such a good idea! Yes! Classy and modern at the same time! And the blue! Damn, Gabriel is such a genius. He didn't go for the classic black and chose a beautiful navy, that goes so well with Adrien’s hair and green ey-Wait. Is he looking at me? No! I must look so stupid right now, Jesus calm do-
"I'm definitely digging the sneakers Luka!" Nino noticed.
"Thanks, I figured I could go a bit more casual since I already had my Winter Ball last year."
"That's right! How was it? Was the music-"
Something was up. Alya could tell. Marinette was definitely not listening to the conversation, probably spiraling about Adrien, as usual. But Adrien... The poor guy hasn't stopped looking at her! And the moment he saw Luka... Damn I really have the best ideas sometimes…
"You okay sunshine?" Alya asked, really trying to hide her smirk.
Huh? "Yeah yeah, sorry. I was just thinking about the Kitty Section performance later..." Why did I just lie?
Ok he definitely just lied!
"But Nino was right. You both look amazing." Adrien continued.
"Marinette, I was telling Adrien a few minutes ago how it’s so cool that you’re matching" Alya recalled.
"Oh... right! We're blue! I mean we're not the Smurfs, tha-"
Adrien chuckled. "You mean we're both WEARING blue, right?"
"Exactly! But your suit is way better though. You look so good! I mean the suit! Not that you don’t look good, that’s not wha…”
“I know Mari. You look good too” Adrien answered calmly, quietly, still smiling.
“…just I could never make something that good, your father is so amazing…" Oh. Only now did Marinette realize Adrien had talked during her ramble. Dammit Marinette stop rambling, just breathe.
“Sorry about that, I just find your father’s work fascinating. Thank you, Adrien” Finally!
Adrien reciprocated with a smile again. But Marinette found it somewhat different for some reason.
“COLLÈGE FRANÇOISE DUPONT ARE YOU READY?”
The DJ suddenly shouted through the speakers. Damn that dude is annoying.
“THE DANCE FLOOR IS OFFICIALY OPEN, LET’S GET THIS PARTY STARTEEEEEEED”
