It happened. It had all really just happened. The time loops. The deaths. But somehow they’d managed to survive it all. The relief stretched out into infinity for sure, this time.
Of course, not everything was resolved yet. All that time spent with Dan and his good heart meant that he knew Yaz better than anyone else.
No matter how hard she tried to hide it, he’d known she was in love with the Doctor right away. Sometimes it takes an outsider to see the truth of what’s right in front of you.
Yaz was glad he’d said something. She hadn’t even known herself how deep-rooted her feelings were for the Doctor. Or at least not dared to admit them to herself.
When she’d come back to help complete the plan something felt different. Like some unexplored extremely heavy weight had been lifted. Dan kept looking between them and smiling.
The Doctor was undeniably nervous and weirder than usual. Then it hit her like an oncoming train. Knowing that they might never get another chance Dan had somehow successfully played wingman.
He’d told the Doctor for her. And it looked like he’d gotten her to admit to feeling something too. Oh, God. As lovely as that was Yaz still wanted to hit him.
Make fun of him. Something! Anything to use as a distraction right now would be amazing. Ah, fireworks, perfect! Then she felt the Doctor’s eyes on her.
Yaz’s heart was pounding as she wondered whether to look over or not? It wouldn’t take much. Just a few steps over and they would be looking into one another’s eyes.
Not here.
Not now.
Not in front of the others.
But soon.
It would have to be soon.
After all, time was catching up.
