Chapter Text

Phoenix Foundation – Los Angeles

Day – Morning

Matilda Webber walked as was usual through the offices of what most thought was an exclusive 'Think Tank'. In reality it was an agency so high that really not even the CIA really knew it existed except at the highest of levels, i.e. the director. She herself had gone up a couple of clearance levels to do this job, and she was glad she'd accepted it. She actually had come to adore her team, even Jack Dalton. The man was a solid agent, but a little bit of a buffoon at times, but let nothing be said against the fact he was reliable, got the job done and protected his team like a lioness and her cubs. She'd had a problem with Angus MacGyver actually, but he was the most important part of the team. She didn't like miracles, and yet what Mac, (as he was usually known), didn't actually do that. Instead he created solutions from at times incredible iota's from his mind and MADE it work. Riley, she'd always rather liked Riley Davis. The girl was a Hacker, used to be Black Hat, had gotten caught for a noble reason of all things by the NSA, not an agency to cross truth be told, but she'd jumped at the chance to use her skill for a white hat solution and a little like Mac she created solutions in her realm of influence.

Sam was an older friend of hers, reliable and just DAMN good at her job and had amazingly enough fitted into the team pretty easily on what had been their only mission so far. But the SHOCKING thing about that and told Matti that it would work out was Jack of all people said she was cool. He was NOT one for change, but for Sam it worked.

Bozer was the last somewhat adjunct member of the team, his true skill was in the lab and making at times scarily realistic masks, but he was also capable in the field and a perfect extra member when needed. Though with the addition of Cage, Sam Cage, into the rotas they really needed another member, that would make two teams of two, Jack and Mac was a proven winning combination, and then Sam and...well that was the thing. One reason Bozer did work was because he had already been Mac's best friend since childhood, so he fitted into Jack and Mac, because Jack had come to know him with Bozer being Mac's room mate. But Bozer and Sam...didn't work to Matti, not at all. Riley, that could work, but Riley was best with a computer in front of her, and while that was more often required in the field than it appeared she was more analyst than agent.

She nodded to a few people that were note worthy on the way in, a few that had caught her eye, like Jill who was an analyst almost as good as Riley, and her personality was pretty win and while she would be useless in the field having her back ending while Riley was out there was perfect, or would be with a little more work.

Then finally she made her way to her corner office, walking to her desk, putting down a coffee from a nearby barista she liked and then looked up. Matti had seen some of the worst the world had to offer, she'd faced evil eye to eye, and it took a lot to make her even raise a brow. But there sat on the teams couch was a fairly tall, well dressed in unrelieved black man. He had past his shoulders white hair, piercing emerald green eyes and was sat in a rather casual relaxed position.

Matti actually started, and that was rare, then caught herself, lifted a brow and said in a sub-zero tone, "You had better tell me who you are, and what you want, and perhaps more importantly how you got into my apparently NOT secure office."

He smiled, and it was rather devastating, he was almost ridiculously good looking especially smiling and oddly she detected no malice in that smile. "Director Webber," he said crystal clear English tones, and a question in his tone.

"I am, and let's get back to why I'm not shooting you."

"Other than you're not carrying heavy right now, though there is a piece in your top draw on the right at the desk. If you like, feel free to fetch that out while we talk. I have no wish to harm you or anyone here, quite the opposite actually. You see, my here, that's what you could call and audition."

She lifted the second brow, "Audition...for what?"

"You just hired on Samantha Cage ex of the CIA, with Jack Dalton and Angus MacGyver that's three. Now you may wish to keep that number, but it's a far better idea to have say, two-two man teams so you really need another. And before you mention Wilt Bozer, or Riley Davis...you know as well as I do that neither are what we could call ideal. Solid Agents, rather genius and perfect for their roles, but infiltration, extraction, fighting and more...that's not so much their ideal use."

Now Matti was slightly concerned, that information was ABOVE high level security clearance, it was code word only the very highest levels knew that Phoenix was even an agency, let alone the roster of the damn team. Or worse that Sam had JUST joined them!

"I see, and you what...want that job?"

"Yesssss" he said slowly, "But there would have to be an...understanding as well. I'm not beholden so to speak to ANY agency, that said I owe a few favours and you better bet I pay up when they're called in. To settle that glare a little, these would be the sort of the thing the team deals with anyway and in most cases, you'd WANT to do it. But other than that, Phoenix interests me for a few reasons, nostalgia for one, that name you have no idea." he said with a rueful smile, "Let's just say me being part of an agency called Phoenix is positively kismet. I can prove my bona fides, give you a few names you know well too to verify I'm not full of shit, and some owe me favours and I owe a couple to others you'd like to talk to." he flicked his hand at the big board, and suddenly a list of names appeared, along with personal contact details. It had to be said, Matti knew a lot of those names, and owed a few favours herself, more owed than owed from it had to be said, but a couple that way. Oddly it's how the Five I's worked, it was sort of political and more about scratching backs when necessary, doing things you felt you could to help out and then getting them to help you in turn. People didn't respond well to being ORDERED, but offer a favour...well you got more traction.

Apparently this good looking, smooth talking infiltrator knew the way the game was played. She narrowed her eyes at him a moment, then flicked her eyes over the list, "Why, really?" she said.

"You wouldn't believe me" he said seriously.

"Try me?" she retorted.

"I want to do good, and you have a enemy of mine in common." he said, "You actually got hands on that bastard, which surprisingly is more than I managed before he slithered away. That impressed me enough that I started to do some digging, and I like your rep Director, and the team is a winning ticket. I would like to help pull in more wins. I have…" he laughed a little, "Eclectic skill set, more training than you would ever believe, and I've got a few tricks in my corner that can pull a win even in the most dire situations. This sounds like a boast Director Webber, but I've never in my entire life, LOST a fight. Pulled to a draw, had to back off, but lost...never done it. If that doesn't entice you, well make the calls find out my rating especially with what I've done for the CIA and you'll be surprised. As for clearance, I've got code word on a few projects, which as you know is about as good as it gets. But you won't believe that until you check." he said.

Then he settled back from where he'd been sat forward talking to her, then of all things pulled a deck of cards out of his inside pocket, then had the damn things flowing around his fingers. "I've got all day, but I imagine you do not." he said with a flash of another damnably attractive smile.

"Right...I'm watching you."

"I'd prefer you made the calls instead, but I've been told I'm pretty good at this" he said fanning the cards, into a waterfall and then a snap and then where in a pack then back in his hands, flowing like water.

"Right…" she said, dialling.

Later

"Can you stop that," was the first thing that Sam Cage heard as she walked up to Matti's door, the first of the team to arrive for he morning brief. She was curious because Matti sounded almost amused, exasperated, and yes...amused. Matti didn't show herself much, so she wondered if she was NOT the first one there, it was almost the tone she used for Jack, but Jack was usually the last to arrive, he was NEVER late, but usually last, mostly turning up with Mac.

"Well...I could, but will I? That's a different answer. Seriously I need to keep my mind and body active or I get bored and trust me Director you do NOT want me to get bored." an English toned smooth male voice replied sounding amused.

Sam walked in the final distance required to see that there were playing cards being 'juggled' in throws up and down, spinning like crazy, and somehow perfectly in control of a white haired man, what he looked like otherwise Sam didn't know yet she was behind him.

"Oh hey Sam, come in, given everything you will want to meet this maniac. Apparently his name is Harry, Noir."

Sam walked around the chair, then her eyes were met with a mesmerizing emerald gaze and she actually went a little wide eyed and delightfully pink. This was not usual, in fact making her crack her calm facade was next to impossible. But this man managed it with a smile and dear GOD he was gorgeous.

"Well Hello!" he said his eyes twinkling up a storm, a more suave charm on his face than had been apparent as far as Matti had seen thus far.

"This is...well I doubt I need to do the introductions actually" Matti said rolling her eyes. "Sam, Harry may well be joining the team. His clearance is… and the recommendations and trust notes on his record are some of the best references I've seen."

"Why thank you Director" Harry said giving her a good smile too, not dimmed in the least and Matti was aware she wasn't most men's idea of ideal.

"A new member, already I..urh...don't think Jack will like that." Sam noted, pulling herself together, "And just how do you know my name?"

"Well...this name I learned from the usual sources…" he flashed a smile, "In this case Henry"

"One of the directors of the CIA, just apropos" Matti inserted.

"Nice guy for a spy douche bag, liked his wife more." Harry grinned.

"I've met her, she runs the DPD" Matti noted.

Harry smiled, "Yes...I've done a little scute work for her at times, so me and Henry got talking and we sort of hit it off and then I did some work for him directly...you know how it is?"

Sam shook her head, "I've never met ANY of those people, on account of them being nose bleed high."

Harry chuckled, "They're just people, though people that make life and death decisions every day, so they take...special handling and earning their trust is NOT easy."

"I'd imagine not, and you are here for why then? I imagine with those names you weren't lacking in work" Sam asked, and saw Matti giving an approving look out the corner of her eye. Matti wanted her to do this, find out more information and that was after all her game.

"To do something good, as you know I'm sure some of the things the CIA do aren't...clean" Harry said slowly, "And I heard about this place when it was still going by the old name, but it felt off at the time, now I know why. But under Director Webber it's clean, you pull wins most if not nearly ALL the time and frankly you have a relationship with someone I want to get back in contact with too." He told her easily.

"Murdock, and that might be a sticking point. We can't allow personal vengeance." Matti inserted, and warned at the end.

"Oh, I can control my killing urge there, I'd be happy with him in super max for the rest of his life and boy if you could get him to squeal...that'd be worth more than my little bit of revenge." Harry told her in reply.

"Sensible and rings true, but sounds almost too noble." Sam remarked, "But outside of that, your hair might be an issue actually."

"I was trying to think how to say that, but trust you…" Matti chuckled.

"What of it?" Harry said.

"White, that's going to stick out a lot where we go." Sam told him.

"And blonde doesn't?" Harry chuckled, "Ahh whatever, I can change it if you like, but I'm not about to do that until I get a yay or nae."

"You're willing to dye it? That's never going to be the same again unless you grow it out." Matti said, "It is...unique, how did that happen, it's not grey, it's pure white."

"Okay, I'll play twenty questions then, I'll even be fairly open...but for now, with only you and the team." Harry said seriously to Matti. "My hair colour, as in all the hair on my body was the result of experimentation done on me quite a long time ago, it wasn't...pleasant, but there are upsides" he chuckled a little darkly, "As in if I can survive that, or worse what they did with me AFTER they were done. I am reasonably sure I can survive just about anything."

"That sounds innocent, and an affirming moment, but has a double edge." Sam said musingly.

"Yes, I read your specialities, and how GOOD you are Agent Cage." Harry replied evenly.

Sam raised a brow, "So what did they do with you."

"Threw me away, and that led directly to me being here really," Harry replied instantly.

Sam furrowed her brow, an answer and yet rang double edged again. "So anything else, I'm game...so let's hear it?"

"I'm sure more will come up, but a bug bear that was mentioned on the phone earlier and might be a problem for us. IS that you ALWAYS take your car, no matter where it is, and somehow arrange that yourself without making ripples."

Harry laughed, "Oh my...Director you were just indirectly played by a master manipulator." He smiled, "But it's true, I go, my car goes. But don't worry I DO arrange that myself, and it will be no bother I suppose you could say it's good at blending into most situations and given your clearance I don't mind saying the name 'The Foundation', ever hear of it?"

"In the eighties" Matti snorted.

"Ahh, but they didn't die, they evolved and so did the technology, you know what I'm talking about."

"You have a Knight Industries car?" Matti went wide eyed, "A black Trans Am will NOT fit in most places." she noted, "also HOWWWWWwwww" she asked seriously confused.

"Ahh they changed the chassis a while ago, more American car now." Harry chuckled, "And VERY different technology. But do me a favour, don't pass that BACK up the line to Henry who I know asked, and moreover Joan, she's rather curious about my car and has had the opportunity to ride in it." he said with a perfectly innocent face.

Sam lifted a brow, she was good enough to see the twinkle of humour as he said 'Ride'. "Urm"

Harry smiled, "Gotcha, me and Joan didn't go there, she's a good wife, a good CIA wife too, I was just testing HOW good you are there Agent Cage."

"Sam, you can call me Sam for actually tricking me, because now you're clear, only if you can control your responses, I'm not entirely sure I'm very accurate with you." she smiled.

Harry chuckled, "You wouldn't believe the levels of self control I have. Anyway, that question was from Joan, we're actually pretty good friends, and yes she has been in Ava."

"You named your car, a girls name too, how Male" Sam said rolling her eyes.

"Urh…" Matti looked at Harry who smiled and nodded at her. "He has a good reason to do that outside the normal male personification of their cars. Knight Industry Models come loaded with AI and a tech package that is out of this world, can out race any F1 car and a LOT more including the BEST armour money can buy, in fact you can't buy it it's totally bespoke. But they stopped making them, for one they are horrendously expensive, for another the one man, one car...it didn't really work as well as they hoped, Michael Knight was a GOOD agent, did a lot of good, but the cost benefit ratio wasn't worth it."

Harry chuckled, "Yeah but you save the new driving force behind the mythos' daughter life...and do him a HUGE favour, well since I paid the costs myself I got the best he could make, and root level access so she's custom too."

"You COULD work on one of Gaimans builds?" Matti asked.

"Ohh you are WELL informed, I say no more." Harry smiled.

"Another Genius on the team." Matti remarked rolling her eyes.

Harry shrugged, "It's not that hard really, but in reality I'm the ONLY one that can drive my car now, she...has a real...personality." he smiled then chuckled, rolling his eyes, "Yeah...personality."

"It's a computer." Sam laughed, "It's just code, a database, responses figured from statistics, right?"

Harry just smiled, "Anyway, always with me, and can look like anything I want, oh and comes with a full armoury, and a 3D printer that MacGyver will LOVE."

"Alright, you're not wrong, but HOW Harry?" Matti asked.

"Ahh and that Henry personally wants to know, the DPD are mostly domestic, but what I did for him...more widespread and yet...always with the 'stang you know." Harry said with a grin.

"Ahh, and that is all the answer we get on that" Sam pointed out.

Riley was next into the office, and her reaction was just as amusing and surprising as Sam's rather extreme, for her, reaction. She swaggered up to Sam who she'd liked and then happened to see Harry and went wide eyed, surprisingly rosy, and meep'd.

"Ahh, yes...Riley meet Harry."

Riley smiled winningly, "Can I have you?"

"Well, normally I wouldn't do this...but sure" Harry said, "You're VERY beautiful and Sam has already shocked me. Look's and brains in this team a thing?"

The guys arrived and Harry turned, "Huh...seems so." he remarked.

Seville, Spain

A Week Later

Sam turned to Mac and smirked, "And no pole" she remarked making Mac smile ruefully.

Harry turned a look at her, "A Pole...if you're suddenly talking about poles, and perhaps dancing around one, suddenly I don't care about the mission any more."

"Pig" Sam said with amusement.

"No you see, I used it to defeat gravity," Mac began.

"Oh...They pushed you up, applying pressure so you could WALK up the wall" Harry cut in nodding.

Jack looked impressed someone GOT Mac and Sam smirked, she was there when Matti had expressed a lot of surprise for her that Harry could do a damn thing to customize his super car.

"Anyway, you don't need that. Perhaps more training wouldn't hurt, for this...best place is actually France and no offence Mac you'd fit right in there with the kids doing it. Bear with me" Harry said eyeing the building they had to get into. It was a surprisingly familiar situation to Sam's first mission, all the windows were secured to hell and back and the doors were reinforced and barred with large gauge locks.

"Kids?" Mac said looking slightly affronted, since Harry didn't look so much older than he did, perhaps thirty if a day.

Suddenly Harry took off at a run, he ran right at the wall before any of them could stop him, ran UP the wall while momentum kept up, caught the ledge of a window, grabbed a bar, pulled himself up with a display of upper body strength that made Sam go wide eyed. In fact he positively flew from that window, to the top of the bars, finding purchase he stood on it, then jumped easily to the next and repeated the process. HE then side walked over to the next and then the next, showing no ill ease at now being thirty foot up in the air standing on merely steel bars. Then he took a rather impressive leap from there to the balcony that had the only insecure door, turned a wave and picked it and was inside in seconds.

"Huh" Mac said wide eyed, "Parkour, he's talking about Parkour."

"What now?" Jack said.

"It's a sort of study of movement, always in motion, also called free running, and yeah it mostly originated in France." he noted, "And you know...I might just do as he suggests." Mac replied obviously think it over seriously.

"The agency would get that for you, but it'd be off book." Sam remarked, "And that was GOOD. I've seen that live, and most couldn't take that nearly sheer wall like that. But Matti remarked he had amazing references, he wouldn't get that without commensurate skills."

"Good, more bad ass on the team" Jack said nodding firmly.

Sam smiled, "Why Jack, do you consider me Bad Ass?"

Jack smirked, "Hell Yeah, you'd make a great kicker too!"

A moment later a door was opened and Harry popped his head out, waving them in.

They quickly made their way into the building, pulling their pieces and looking around. Then Jack noticed something, "Urh...where's your gun."

"Don't carry one. If I need a gun...I'll take a gun." Harry replied in a low voice, "Ava Luv give me an IR scan of the building...it was empty on the way down, I think we've got bad intel."

"Who the…" Jack remarked.

Harry tilted his head, then a moment later he nodded to himself, "Huh...this place has no bodies with heat in it, we can search but it's a waste of time."

Jack didn't look impressed. "Yeah...I think we need to check that, I don't know...Ava, and I trust them less." Jack replied eyes rolling.

"Ohhh" Harry winced, "BAD Idea."

Jack looked confused, "Huh?"

"She hears all, she see's all and she doesn't like being insulted." Harry remarked.

"Ava is the car, right?" Sam said with amusement.

Harry just nodded.

"I ain't afraid of no car!" Jack abruptly objected.

Harry smiled a creepily big smile.

"And you need to carry, Mac doesn't so he can get inventing." Jack added.

"I told you…"

"...If you need one you'll take one." Jack replied, not impressed. "I tell you what, I see that happen, and I'll get off your case."

Harry smiled, then moved like striking lightning and in a moment was holding Jack's gun all without even hurting him, then let it roll in the finger guard to hand it back, "You were saying."

"Shhheeeeeiiiittt"

Paris, France

The Next Day

In her current configuration Ava, Harry's super car could take four easily, standard black 'stang configuration, four seats. Jack, Mac in back with Sam up front with Harry.

"I said I was sorry!" Jack said plaintively.

"You should be," a rather smooth sexy tone said, Americanized fair young sounding, and flaring the holographic display on the front dash.

Sam was trying to hide her amusement, while Mac was openly chuckling as Harry's 'Car' lambasted Jack for doubting her. Eventually Jack had gotten Riley to check a Sat image with infrared to the same conclusion, but it'd taken much longer.

"See" Harry said in an aside to Sam, his eyes full of humour, "He's actually being remarkably lucky actually."

"Lucky, she's been chewing my ear all day!" Jack bemoaned.

"Yeah, but usually when someone insults my girl they get ejected out the roof." Harry chuckled.

"Wait...Wut"

Harry quirked an eye as he noticed a display graph growing, "Ava...that wasn't supposed to be a suggestion. Be Good!"

"Yes Luv" the car shot back, same voice but affecting his accent at the word 'luv'.

"I like her, she's sassy!" Mac remarked, "And just a beautiful machine." he said looking around, and particularly enjoying the status displays, permanent link to the office and more showing on the windscreen. It was a marvel of technology, and honestly he had NO idea how most of it even worked. He was by inclination if not academics an engineer, and this was beyond his practical sciences.

"Ohh you just made a friend for life" Harry chuckled.

"Hey I like her too and a Mustang baby, oh yeah!" Jack said with a grin.

"Better" Ava said primly.

"Ava, get me a look in that car, it's getting late I've got an inkling."

"On it boss" Ava told him.

"I could've done that," Riley complained.

"Oh, I know, but you don't have the processing power for this, she's going to use any number of camera's and feeds to get me a full 360 look into the insides of that car, you mostly can only do traffic cams, and sat. I don't mind telling you my girl is not stock issue any more, each individual cell of this beautiful weapon has the processing power of a Cray."

"Shit" Riley said succinctly, "I feel like you don't need me no more" she said pouting playfully.

"Ava is real bright, a real person I consider her but she doesn't get inspiration, she can't intuit like a human, so I want you to take the vector map Ava will send you and look for destinations our guy might be going, because I'd rather be there first, or in this case if I'm right, we may need to go get changed."

"Right on Harry" Riley said, far more cheerfully.

"I can intuit just fine" Ava said with annoyance, "Like I intuit that you want to nail that girl."

"AVA!" Harry laughed while Riley went pink. Jack looked murderous and both Sam and Mac were laughing themselves silly. "Such a bitchy little weapon"

"Hurumpf" Ava replied.

"Is it not rude to call this beautiful machine a weapon" Mac asked, "Clearly you believe her to be a person, and she sure seems like it, therein she is not a weapon."

"You chatting up my car Mac?" Harry asked with amusement.

"The charming man has a point, but unfortunately I must point out that with what I can do, with what I was designed for I am indeed a very high tech weapon. But as Harry told me, just after he pointed that out, that's not all I have to be either. As he himself believes for himself."

"Hey" Harry said in a less playful tone.

"Sorry" Ava replied, actually sounding remorseful.

"Anyway, there you have it Mac." Harry said when a full display of the entire interior of the SUV they were following showed up, it was chromed and shiny black, more a posers SUV than anything that was useful for sports."Ahh, that's the stuff luv" he smiled, "Yeah, that's his Sunday go to meeting wear."

"It's a little early for what you're thinking" Sam remarked.

"What are we thinking?" Jack asked.

"Nightclub" Mac told him. "He's going clubbing."

"And if he has business, or perhaps he will just go to some trendy bar first...it's likely he is ready this early and traffic this time of night in Paris is frightful." Harry told him too.

"He seems very relaxed from the body language" Sam pointed out.

"So perhaps bar first, take that into consideration will you Ri"

"You got it" Riley said, still lightly pinked.

A Club, Paris

Later

They'd gone and changed, as per Prophesy from Harry and tooled up to the club with Ava looking a little more flashy and sporty, this case an F1 McLaren, one of the hundreds of body types Harry inputted.

Because of that Jack and Mac had gone separately, but they'd met up at the entrance, and somehow without the others knowing how, Harry had walked to the VIP line and they'd been shown right in.

Sam and Harry were 'coupled' but there was an issue.

"Ha" Harry laughed looking around. "so which one of you two is my date?" he said to the gentlemen. "And which then is her bitch" he added with twinkling eyes.

"Wut" Jack asked looking around his eyebrows up.

"Clearly this is a high end alternate lifestyle kind of place Jack, and we need to fit in, not stand out. So the most obvious alternates will work better, trouble is we both need Mac." Sam said seriously.

Harry chuckled, "Yeah...Jack...not gonna play gay, come 'ere pretty boy" Harry said grabbing Mac looking wide eyed off to the dance floor and dancing dangerously close.

Sam then rolled her eyes, "This is important...pretend you're subservient to me, or you'll make us stand out."

"Wut!"

"Come, man!" Sam snapped, grabbing him by the hand and leading him off. Fortunately in his confusion he was looking lost and wide eyed, so it actually worked.

"Urh...Harry, I'm straight so…" Mac said out on the dance floor.

"What? Oh me too mate, me too. But we're both more urh...modern man" Harry chuckled, "We can handle this, but we don't have to be...affectionate, so stop looking weird. Honestly!"

Mac rolled his eyes, and danced back, actually finding Harry was a VERY good dancer. They were both very good looking and were standing out in a more normal way for any club, and drawing other attractive denizens into their social circle.

Sam was drawing a lot of attention too, but Jack had his fair share. But they were covertly watching their man, a tall Hispanic looking gentleman with a slight widows peak and a lanky frame who was sat in the VIP with his boyfriend under his arm. Clearly he was the more dominant partner there. He appeared to just be out for a night on the town, which did NOT bode well for this being sorted quickly. But sometimes it went fast, other times a longer game was required and they all knew it.

The night rode on, Jack trying not to enjoy the attention from Sam, sure it wasn't his thing but Sam was one HELL of a beautiful woman and in a dominant way all over him, so that didn't suck at all. Harry and Mac were doing a remarkably good job of playing up a couple too, mostly dancing to stay near the mark until not far off closing time a new figure joined the couple at the booth their mark was in. A beautiful curvaceous redhead with long hair past her shoulders, in a PVC dress that fitted like a glove and exceptionally high heels. Crimson was on her lips, and Kohl on her green eyes and she looked amazing, what she didn't look was anything like the marks type.

Harry watched them talking for a few moments, before redhead walked mark out of the back entrance of the club. "You ever flirted with a man" Harry asked Mac as that happened, his eyes sharp, intelligent and scheming.

"Urh...no" Mac replied looking amused.

"It's a lot like doing it with a girl, especially in this case. I need you to use our VIP pass to go up there see what you can get out of the boyfriend. I'm going after the odd couple."

"What about Sam?"

"Conventional old boy, to him she'd be a turn off despite the fact she's a stone cold fox"

"Why thank you" Sam said over the earwig dryly.

"Just an observation Sam" Harry remarked, "Go...try your hand, if nothing comes of it, just walk away no big. But he's feeling jilted, and threatened right now."

"I agree," Sam told him seriously.

"I hate you both" Mac said splitting away smoothly.

Harry managed to merge into the crowd and Sam and Jack actually lost him. To be honest Sam felt that was a hell of a trick, his hair was black as promised he'd dyed it, but he was quite tall VERY good looking and wasn't easily missed. She caught him sliding out the curtained and roped off back entrance, perhaps into rear area's of the club and then turned her attention to Mac, whispering in his ear to help his flirting. "Sit Man!" she snapped at Jack as he stood. "Actually get a drink for your mistress!"

Jack's eyes flared, then a slight smile and he managed to do a pretty good slink away. She was actually impressed.

"I wish I could see this" Riley's voice whispered wistfully from the US over comms.

Harry ducked out of the room he'd been peaking inside. He pressed his finger to his ear and said, "Guys we have a problem. The mission was to stop this cell from sourcing a biological, trouble is they HAVE one, and they are weaponising it as we speak. THIS is their base of operations. So I need Mac, I've cleared the path, so follow the unconscious guards Mac. Sam, Jack, make sure no one comes out that way, I've got this."

"Not alone you don't" Jack ordered.

"Trust me Jack, I can handle it, but if you insist then come on in, Sam you got that entrance?"

"You got it"

"Who's in charge again?" Jack mumbled.

A few minutes later Mac caught up with Harry and looked into the room, he held up a three count and on it's final finger they swept into the room. Mac saw first hand that Harry honestly didn't NEED a gun, as he hit the scientist type and his three guards like a whirlwind, taking all three out with brutally efficient moves that Jack would be in awe of in less time than it took for the third guard to even finish turning.

"Huh" Mac remarked, "You really don't need a gun, huh"

Harry smiled, then nodded at the science table, "You got that?"

"I got this, I hope" Mac said looking it over, "Not that complicated, not like the other Biological I had to deal with, who only uses one colour of wire!"

Harry chuckled, "I'm going to clear house, and try to get the people behind this."

"Wait for Jack" Mac said sternly, "You're in a team now Harry." he reminded him.

Harry sagged, then nodded. The man did have a point. Luckily Jack wasn't slow in arriving and together they started to make their way through the oddly labyrinth like corridors of the rear of the club. It went pretty smoothly until they found what had to be a large break room, FULL of grunts.

"Lock 'em in" Jack mouthed.

Harry smiled, then shook his head, whispering, "I have to prove myself to you, or you'll never use me properly, so this time. Sorry" he said then swept into the room, slick, smooth and FAST.

He got the first guard with an elbow strike to the back of the neck, putting him down and out. Then the room reacted. He almost leapt into the middle of them and Jack swarmed in after him, only to actually be struck into a stunned state. Jack was HIGHLY trained in fighting, all manner, all ways, all levels. But he'd never seen anything like it.

There had to be twenty or more guys and Harry was slickly moving around them, fighting sometimes four guys at the same time. He didn't draw a weapon, and somehow didn't let them use theirs as he cut through the room in a nearly balletic brutality and efficiency that Jack WAS in awe of. The last body fell no more than thirty seconds later.

That was beyond good, that was epically legendarily amazing fighting and Jack knew there was NO way he could take Harry. Shit, the entire Phoenix building couldn't take Harry. But it also brought something else to light, Harry wasn't … normal either. As good as his moves were, he was TOO fast, too hard hitting. There was something that Harry wasn't yet telling them, clearly. But Jack WAS going to find out what the hell Harry was exactly.

Harry ran his hand through his hair, which was the only thing out of place, but it was kinda long if you asked Jack, he was surprised it hadn't gotten in the way or been used against him. But then Sam had REALLY long hair and was fine.

Harry held out his hands, a questioning look at Jack. Jack did not begrudge him the nod he replied with. As much as he knew he needed to find out what Harry really was, that proved his worth, and that everything he'd been saying was true. "I figure that's most of their force, so...just boss level now."

"Huh?" jack asked.

Riley chuckled over the comms, "You a gamer Harry?"

"Sure am Ri" Harry replied, "What can I say I like to kick back with an MMO, or RPG and relax on my down days."

"I think I like you."

Harry grinned.

"Come on, stop gawking" Harry said striding past Jack.

"What in the...is an MMO"

"Ahh Jack, dear sweet innocent Jack. Come to mine, I'll show ya" Riley remarked fondly, but then she did adore Jack despite their rocky new meeting.

Jack wasn't slow to follow Harry after that, only to find he had the Mark on the floor with blood coming out his mouth and was smiling devastatingly at the redhead in the PVC dress. "Why are the hottest ones evil?" Harry asked, "You have no idea the trouble I've gotten into with bad girls."

The woman smiled, "Let me go and you could get into plenty of trouble with me." she said in a sultry tone.

"Alas, honour dictates I do not, or more accurately honour just arrived. So I must turn down that marvellous offer, but will reply if you come quietly I see no reason to mistreat you."

She sighed, putting her hands out in classic cuff style. From no where Harry had a zip cuff in his hand and slipped it onto her and gave her a smile, then a wink that made her colour. "So...mission accomplished Jack?"
