🌈The Nursery🌈
Aizawa was about to burst if Hizashi didn’t pull it together, he was on a strict no lifting or carrying anything over five pounds right now as well as bed rest and the alpha was hopeless.
“Zashi, how is it so hard? The direction clearly states that board C and board D should make a 90 degree angle. You're building a rectangle, alpha, not a triangle” the omega pouted as he sat in the rocking chair in the corner of the nursery, his feet up on the foot rest.
“Sho, I understand the concept, my hands apparently don’t.” Aizawa went to get up when Hizashi growled at him in warning. “You’re on bedrest and a weight restriction. Let me handle this” the alpha reminded, pushing his glasses further up his nose. “You’re lucky I am allowing you in here” he admitted, the alpha wanted his mate safe in the nest. After the tragedy that was the USJ and the training camp, Hizashi was basically ready to wrap his mate in bubble wrap and hide him away. “If I had my way, you would be resting in your nest, not stressed about this.”
“Yes, Alpha” the omega submitted, staying in his seat. His hands resting on his overly large belly. The nursery theme the couple had agreed on was the night sky.
It seemed silly at first, but the duo had grown to love it. As they picked out little cloud themed wall hangings and a string of star fairy lights they had hung up on the ceiling over the bay window. Along with a crescent moon mirror that hung over the black dresser. It was slowly becoming their favorite room in the house.
Hizashi’s parents however had been adamant after the genetic testing they received for the pup showed that he was male that the nursery needed to be more masculine. Monsters or dinosaurs or cars.
That made both Hizashi and Shouta gag.
Their pup would be who they wanted to be and that was that.
Shouta blinked tiredly as he heard a loud YELP from a Hizashi making the blacked haired man cover his ears and the pictures hanging on the wall shook. The alpha blinked back tears as he looked over at his husband. “Sorry!” He promised as he squeezed his red thumb.
“Zashi….why are you using a hammer? That’s a screw” he sighed running his hand over his face. “Can I please sit on the floor and help? Please alpha?” This had been the 12th time Hizashi hurt himself trying to put together the crib. “I won’t even lift any parts of the actual crib, just the screws and the screwdriver.” He tried. He heard Hizashi grumble, shaking his hand to try and get the pain to stop.
“Fine, but only because I am desperate and I still have to put together the dresser and the bookshelf.” Hizashi grunted, standing up to help his mate to his feet.
“Don’t worry about it I can do those too” Aizawa limped toward the crib, his hands grasping Hizashi tightly, the omega couldn’t even see his feet which made his steps slightly unease. “Okay, I….I can do the screws and stuff but I can’t hold up the sides, can you do that please alpha?”
Hizashi nodded as he delicately helped his omega to the floor of the plush gray carpet. “Do you think the little dude is gonna like it?” Hizashi questioned, nervously looking around at the light blue and gray walls, with little cloud decor by the windows. The window curtains were gray in color with little white stars, clouds and moons on them. The mobile they had purchased had a crescent moon in the center with silver stars and fluffy white clouds dangling from the strings.
“I think the pup won’t even care for a few years” Aizawa shrugged as he got to work fixing his husband’s shortcomings when it came to building furniture. “But….I think it’s perfect, and it’s relaxing,” he admitted. His black eyes roaming over the calming space. “I also think that you should paint a mural over his crib”
Aizawa frowned, when Hizashi’s hands almost let the crib wall fall. “Oh Sho, can I please!??!!!” He begged, bouncing excitedly from foot to foot. His green eyes looked over the white wall where they were going to place the crib. ‘I’m so pumped!” the alpha laughed.
Aizawa giggled looking up at his mate, “Zashi, it was literally my idea. Of course you can.” He smiled sweetly.
The crib was finished easily enough, only after Hizashi had let the side fall one or twice. The couple had decided on a black crib, the bedding was gray with clouds on it and a rainbow. Hizashi was adamant about the rainbow since he was their rainbow baby. Shouta had allowed it. He personally loved all the color in the room that the rainbow added.
Next came the book shelf that Aizawa drilled into the wall, his biggest fear was the furniture falling over and crushing their poor pup, but if he did this that wasn’t possible. They filled the bookshelf easily. The books and toys filled the bottom shelves while the pictures and Knick knacks they had somehow accumulated for the unborn baby sat at the top. “Why did your father buy him a porcelain elephant again?” Hizashi questioned, setting the small white pair of elephants one was a mama elephant holding the trunk of the baby elephant and in all the dips and along the edges of the elephants ears was a gold outline.
Shouta sighed, biting his lip. “I honestly don’t know, Zashi, all that was in the note that came with it was that it was good luck for the baby” He shoved another cat plush on the shelf. Hizashi and he had a problem when it came to buying cat plushies for their pup. Plus Shouta first toy he remembered distinctly was a cat plush from his Alpha Father.
Aizawa's relationship with his father was estranged at best. The man traveled all over the world for work as a nature photographer and even did so while Aizawa was in high school and when his mother died. He didn’t even come to the funeral. Not that Aizawa had expected him to, they had been divorced for years. But when he had called his dad to let him know he was expecting his first grandchild and only grandchild the man had actually seemed interested and would send little knick knacks here and there for the baby as he always wrote on the cards. Aizawa sincerely hoped that he would come to the babyshower or at least come to meet their baby once.
Hizashi hummed at that, looking down at Shouta as he sat on the floor organizing the board books, and arranging the plushies, the little clover charm bracelet the omega wore clinking away against the hardcover of the books. “I also never asked you about that charm bracelet you have acquired. Where did you get it from?”
“Oh!” Shouta jumped looking down at his wrist. “I got this from Granny Ami, at that baby boutique I took you to. She saw me buying the gifts for the congrats your a dad present and I explained some of my infertility issues. She gave me this and the rainbow outfits as a gift, I promised when he was born that she would get to meet him” he admitted with a smile at the large kick. It made Shouta pause what he was doing “Oh you wanna meet some people pup” he teased as the pup wiggled everywhere.
After all the trauma every time he felt the pup kick it still gave him butterflies. Hizashi scooted over his hand resting on Shouta’s belly. “Daddy wants a kick toooo” he whined unhappily, Shouta chuckled as the baby stilled, Hizashi’s pout was adorable.
“Sorry, I guess I’m still his favorite for now” Shouta teased his alpha leaning forward and kissing him. His heart overflowed. “I…I don’t say it enough, Zashi, but….thank you Alpha, for….for everything” he whispered blinking back tears. “Thank you for giving me this gift.” He swallowed his hand lying on his stomach. “Thank you for making me a mama,” he whispered, wiping his eyes. “It’s all i have ever wanted to be”
Hizashi’s green eyes widened as he knelt next to husband.
Hizashi hummed, pulling Shouta to his chest. “Well thank you for making me a father, and for carrying this pup, and for just being the most amazing husband a man could ask for” he whispered, the couple leaned back against the large gray bean bag chair in the corner as they relaxed. Shouta smiled when he felt the baby move. He gently moved Hizashi’s hand from his arm to his stomach.
“He’s so active,” Hizashi whispered, not wanting to ruin the relaxed atmosphere. He stared up at the ceiling that was covered in those silly glow in the dark stars. A request of his, Hizashi had them all over his room as a kid and he wanted his baby to experience the same joy and wonder.
“He’s the most active when you sing to him,” Shouta admitted. “He’s gonna be daddy’s biggest fan” His black eyes looking directly into Hizashi’s green ones there was a slight sparkle in them.
Hizashi’s eyes were always so expressive to Shouta, the alpha could convey a whole conversation through his eyes, it made Shouta at ease since the man never hide anything from him.
He shifted slightly nuzzling into the alpha’s chest, relaxing at the pleasant rumble he was receiving. He purred back, his body stretched out along Hizashi.
Hizashi relaxed back his green eyes roaming over the expanse of the nursery, he was still surprised that at 7 months pregnant Shouta could still put furniture together while he sat there floundering on how to even hold a screwdriver. The alpha held his omega close, letting out a protective calming scent of tropical fruit, he hummed gently into Shouta’s hair, as the omega relaxed against him.
Hizashi smiled and started singing gently.
Shouta practically melted at that, Hizashi’s voice was something special. He loved the raspy-ness of it, the darker tone it took compared to his normal speaking voice. He could feel the rumbling in his chest as the man sang for his mate and for his pup.
Shouta delicately placed Hizashi’s hand on his stomach allowing the alpha to feel his son as he moved about listening to his daddy sing for him.
“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine” the alpha continued to sing, relaxing with Shouta in his hold, not even upset when Shouta pushed his knee between his thighs and buried his head into his broad chest. The movement under his hand made the alpha want to continue the song even if he was on the last verse. He held his husband close.
Hizashi was so fucking lucky, the blond man could barely contain himself. His mate was beautiful in every sense of the word. His soul, his heart, his kindness, and his looks. He had suffered through all of the struggles of pregnancy to try and give Hizashi a family. Something the blond had always wanted. A pup of his very own.
Hizashi was adopted, but there was always that residual feeling of not actually having a family of his own. Sure his Mom and Dad were cool and kind and he obviously loved him.
But they weren’t blood related, and now Hizashi had someone in his bloodline. To the alpha it was kind of wild. He had his own son, his own family that Shouta and Him had created. Something so beautiful and pure.
Something so Shouta and Hizashi.
When Hizashi finished singing, Shouta was close to asleep, “Alpha….what do you think our pup is gonna look like?” He mumbled. Hizashi smiled, this was their new favorite game to play before they fell asleep every night.
“Well, I hope he has your hair.” Hizashi whispered, “dark and beautiful just like the night.” He ran his hand through Shouta’s hair smiling when he received a purr in response.
“I hope he has your positivity.” Shouta slurred, his black eyes drifting closed. “And the ability to spread love and kindness to everyone he meets.” He blinked tiredly, black eyes roamed over Hizashi’s face unashamedly.
“I hope he has your drive” Hizashi kissed the crown of Shouta’s head, holding his mate close to his chest. “The drive to pursue anything he sets his mind to just like his mama”
“I hope that he can sing like you, like an angel, who can sooth any heartache or sadness.” Shouta whispered, his face squished against Hizashi’s chest. The omega chirped tiredly and closed his eyes.
“But no matter what he is like we will always love him” Hizashi recited like they did evernight. He smiled when he noticed that Shouta was completely asleep, and lifted his mate gently to take him to the bedroom. It was time like this where he was super thankful for being a hero and working out on a regular basis, he easily tucked Shouta into the nest. Before exiting the room to go plan the mural wall he so wanted to create.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It took over three weeks, but Hizashi had finally finished the nursery, Shouta had been banned from stepping foot inside until it was completed. The alpha was nervous, it didn't exactly fit the theme of the room, but he thought it matched well enough. He also loved the colors. He took a deep breath to steady and ground himself before he went to grab Shouta from the living room.
He slowly descended the staircase, his hand wringing together as he tried to calm his nerves. His scent was slightly distressed and he didn’t know what was going to happen. Would Shouta hate it? Would he love it? Would he want to cover it up? He took a deep breath, “Hey Sho, you wanna see the mural?” He alpha questioned gently as his omega was curled up on the couch snacking on jalapeno pepper slices. A wonderful pregnancy craving. The pup wanted anything and everything spicy.
“Of course, I do, Zashi,” his mate smiled, struggling to get to his feet. Shouta huffed out annoyed, he would love to be able to stand up by himself again. “Can….can I have some help please, alpha?” Shouta blushed, he was thankful that Hizashi never made him feel bad for his struggle.
“Absolutely!” The man rumbled as he came out easily, helping his husband to his feet. “How was your snack?” Hizashi teased slightly as the raven haired man blushed.
“This pup is gonna come out a spicy pepper if he doesn't stop these cravings” Shouta sighed, as he slowly made his way up the stairs and toward the nursery. “So are you happy with the mural?” He questioned. He could almost smell Hizashi’s hesitancy.
“I love it, personally, I am just afraid you won’t” The blond admitted, his head taking him to places he didn’t want to be. He shook it off quickly. “But if you hate it I still have time to fix it…” The blond rambled being quickly cut off by Shouta.
“Zashi, I will love it no matter what since you made it specifically for our pup” The omega whispered gently pulling Hizashi’s mouth toward his and kissing him hard.
A small whine escaped Shouta as the kiss continued to be passionate. Hizashi pulled back, allowing both men to catch their breaths. “As hot as that was, and as beautiful as you are. I really want to show this to you before I lose my nerve. The blond chuckled.
They made it to the door, when Hizashi whispered into Shouta’s ear, “Close your eyes, kitten” He waited patiently as the omega closed his beautiful black eyes, before he opened the door slowly leading the man into the room. Hizashi took a deep breath before he whispered, “Go ahead and open them”
Shouta opened his eyes, slowly adjusting to the warm sunlight filling the room. His eyes landed on the masterpiece that was covering the crib wall.
Shouta’s eyes were drawn into the beautiful rainbow of colors that made up the clouds, they took the background along with what looked like a cloud castle off in the distance, the clouds themselves looked real, light and fluffy but full of pastel colors instead of the regular white. In the forefront of the image was a little silhouette of a boy in a row boat being held up by hundreds of balloons all in soft pastel colors, to match the castle, the clouds and even the white row boat itself.
In the boat with the child sat a black cat, with orange glittery eyes and a big purple bow with a bell, “Whiskers” Shouta whispered his fingers touching the dried paint, the cat was holding what looked like a map in his tiny paws.
Shouta’s eyes continued to wander over the image finding little additions to the picture that just made it that much sweeter, by the castle there were a few pastel rainbow hot air balloons, and amongst the clouds were a few whales swimming through the sky in the form of clouds. Some silver stars and a bit of a silver crescent moon peeked through the clouds as it turned from day to night. It was mystical and magical, everything Shouta had wanted and more.
What topped off the whole thing was a one little sentence painted above it. It read -Dream Big, Little One- in Hizashi’s elegant script.
Before he even knew what was happening Shouta was in tears. “Za-Zashi” He sobbed clinging onto his husband who looked completely flabbergasted.
“Sho, what’s wrong, kitten, talk to me?” He begged holding his husband close.
“It’s….it’s perfect” He hiccuped clinging onto his alpha allowing the man to let out a soothing scent. “I could never have dreamed up something like this. It...it matches so perfectly.” He swallowed thickly.
Hizashi could barely take it. “I am so glad you love it” He whispered, scenting his husband gently. “I thought it fit the fantasy of the room quite nicely” He promised.
“I hope our son never outgrows it because it's never getting painted over” Shouta stated, no room for argument.
“Well as you yourself said Shouta, he won’t care for a couple of years” He teased, Shouta smiled leaning into his Alpha’s side.
“I did say that. Didn’t I?” He chuckled quietly, his black eyes lingering on the art in front of him.
It was everything he ever wanted for his son’s nursery and he could only hope that his son loved it as much as he did.
Shouta blushed hotly when his stomach rumbled in hunger. “Sorry”
“Don’t be sorry, kitten, you’re eating for two people. What would you like to eat?” Hizashi questions as they both wandered out of the nursery.
“Curry….with extra spice and jalapenos….and maybe some chocolate sauce.” Shouta licked his lips happily as he thought about it. The pup kicked in agreement.
Hizashi tried to hold it together. “Alright, One Monstrosity coming right up.” the Alpha laughed.
