Work Text:
Izuku would like to consider himself a pretty level headed individual. Sure, he had the occasional tunnel vision, especially when it came to training. And hero work. And Kacchan. But, overall, Midoriya felt as though he typically kept his cool. Well, maybe that was a stretch. But, at the very least he could understand his own emotions.
So, it surprised even him when an unfamiliar emotion coursed through him as a first year approached his boyfriend, Katsuki. Bakugou was a few steps ahead, walking with the self-proclaimed Bakusquad. The blonde had turned his head slightly, to make eye contact with Midoriya, presumably about to yell at him and his friends for walking too slow. As Katsuki’s mouth opened, a petite female who none of them had seen before had tapped Katsuki’s left shoulder.
“Bakugou, right?” She asked, a beautiful smile gracing her face. Her wide, bright blue eyes shined with excitement. Her long, darker blue hair settled down her mid back. She was beautiful. What did she want?
“Yeah, what’s it to you?” He asked, irritated. Bakugou’s friends backed up a few inches, giving them so space. Izuku and his friends were able to catch up, also eyeing the scene. It was rare that anyone outside of their class and their teachers approached the hot-headed teen.
“I’m Harumi Nakama. I’m a first year!”
“And?” Bakugou looked somewhere between irritated and bored.
“I heard you were pretty abrasive. But, I don’t mind,” she smiled again, hand reaching and grabbing his arm gently. “I just wanted to introduce myself, I think you’d find me quite interesting if you gave it a shot. We have similar quirks.”
Bakugou pulled his arm from her turned away, “Tsk. Beat it, extra,” he murmured. Ashido whistled lowly as Katsuki’s friends began to follow him.
Midoriya’s eyes couldn’t help but drift over towards where the girl, Nakama, had walked towards her friends.
“Well, he didn’t outright say no, right!” One of her friends smiled.
“I know! Bakugou is so cool, I’m going to try my hardest to impress him,” the girl exclaimed as she and her friends walked the opposite direction.
“Deku!” Midoriya turned and saw Bakugou and their friends almost towards their lunch table. “Hurry the fuck up!” Katsuki yelled. Izuku tried his best to shake the feeling away as he smiled, jogging towards his boyfriend.
“I can’t wait for you to eat your words, Deku! You did better than me on that quiz yesterday?! As fucking if!”
“Kacchan, I’m better than you at Math!”
“As if, nerd! I’m going to wipe that smug ass look right off your face with my exam!” The two bickered as they entered the classroom the next morning. They were still a few minutes early, however most of the class was already here, and for whatever reason looking over towards Bakugou’s desk. “What the hell are you extras looking at?” Katsuki walked over towards his desk and stared down at the orange wrapped bento box placed on top of it. “What the-“he looked over at Izuku.
“I’ve been with you all morning, Kacchan. Don’t look at me.”
“It was that girl from yesterday!” Kaminari walked over from his desk, “And she told me to give you this too. Looks like you got a crush, Bakugou. Although why anyone would find your angry ass attractive is bey-“
“SHUT UP! I’M A THOUSAND TIMES HOTTER THAN YOU!”
“That’s a lie.”
“Can it, Walking Dead! You’re biased,” Bakugou yelled at their purple haired friend. The three went back and forth as Midoriya continued to stare at the nicely wrapped bento box on his boyfriend’s desk. His boyfriend’s desk. Sure, Bakugou and Midoriya weren’t necessarily open with their relationship, but they were not hiding it. He assumed everyone in their class knew, even though they never announced it.
“Bakugou – From what I hear, you like to eat very healthy –“Midoriya looked up to watch as Sero started reading the letter that accompanied the lunch. Katsuki was fuming, attempting to grab the letter from his mocking friend’s hands. “My parents are both quirk-based nutritionist. I have learned over the years what types of diets help with different types of quirks. Since we are soooooooooooooooo simi-“
“I’m going to fucking kill you!” Bakugou tried launching at his friend again, grabbing the note. Sero passed it off quickly to Kaminari.
“- Soooooo similar, I know exactly what you should be eating to enhance your quirk to its greatest capabilities. I know you want to be the best after all! So, nothing but the best, for the best!” Ashido couldn’t help but laugh uncontrollably as Bakugou’s palms started popping. “Let’s meet for lunch this afternoon to talk more. TTYL!” Katsuki finally snatched the letter out of his friend’s hand, burning it to a crisp. “Ah, dude! How could you burn such a sweet letter, there was even an orange heart at the bottom!”
The class laughed as Bakugou slammed down in his seat, shoving the bento box out of his face. Midoriya had taken his seat while the commotion was going on. He watched as the box was moved to the side of Bakugou’s desk. “You’re not going to throw it away?”
Katsuki turned to look at him. “Why the fuck would I? Food is food isn’t it?”
“Awh, how sweet! You’re going to keep her precious box and have a lunch date with her today?” Kaminari teased.
“Shut the hell up, moron!”
Midoriya felt almost frustrated. He didn’t understand it. Why would Bakugou keep that stupid box?
During lunch, Midoriya easily spotted Nakama and her friends. The smile that appeared on her face as she spotted the bento box in Katsuki’s hands sickened him. Bakugou looked down at Midoriya and paused, letting their friends move on without them. “What crawled up your ass?”
“Nothing,” Deku said hastily, lifting his eyes from the group of first years to his boyfriend. “Why didn’t you throw that away, Kacchan? You don’t normally like getting gifts from anyone,” he huffed. The last time Midoriya tried to surprise Katsuki with lunch, he told him to never touch a stove again. Granted, it was burnt. That’s not the point.
“So, I can hear Aizawa bitch at me for an hour about making a first-year cry, yeah right. I’ll pass.” Bakugou sighed, “I’m just gonna go throw this back at her and head over to the table. Save me a seat, nerd.” Before Midoriya could interject, Katsuki was already on his way towards the girls.
Izuku thought a pit open up in his stomach. He felt flustered. Irritated. He almost wished he could be there to see that poor girl’s expression when his boyfriend turned her down.
“Midoriya?” Deku jumped, turning around quickly to see Shinso walking into the cafeteria. “Are you ok?”
“I – “he looked over at Bakugou, who’s back was facing him. His shoulders tense, but Deku could only see the first year. Her expression shining bright. Her hand gently caressing Katsuki’s forearm.
“Earth to Midoriya.” Shinso looked followed his friend’s gaze, looking at the scene. “Ah. That makes sense.”
“Wh-what does?” Izuku asked.
“You’re jealous.”
“What?!” Midoriya looked up in a panic. “N-no. It isn’t like that, Shinso. I’m just so used to Kacchan being so angry, I – I just don’t understand why he isn’t now. Or why he’s even wasting his time with a first year to begin with, w-what is it about her that keeps his attention? I mean, she is cute. Her smile is beautiful, I can’t deny that. And I mean if we’re talking about what standard male teenagers are into in terms of the female body, she is pret-“
“Midoriya,” Shinso sighed as the boy kept silently muttering to himself. “You like him, don’t you?”
Izuku looked up, taken aback from the comment. “I – Of course I do, Shinso. Us dating aside, Kacchan is amazing. What’s not to like?”
“Well then maybe you should te- Wait, what?” The taller teen looked down at the teen once again, before looking over at Harumi and Katsuki. “You two are what?!”
Deku paused, “Uh, Kacchan and I are dating?”
“Since fucking when?”
“It’s been a little over 7 months, I think. Kacchan is a lot better at keeping track of that stuff surprisingly. But I mean, why are you acting so shocked? I thought everyone kn-“
“Midoriya, no one knows.”
“Wh- what?”
“Why do you think his friends keep pestering him about this girl? I mean we all know you two were pining for each other, but just figured you two were too stubborn or that your relationship was too complicated!” Hitoshi ran his hand over his face. “Of course you’d be jealous.”
“I- I’m not.”
“Come on.” Shinso grabbed his friend’s wrist and started walking towards Bakugou.
“Hitoshi,” Deku whispered, seeing which direction they were headed. “What are we doing?”
“Bakugou,” The blonde looked over his shoulder towards the approaching two, irritation leaving his face as he spots his boyfriend. “Are we going to fucking eat lunch or what? We’ve been waiting.”
Bakugou looks between Deku and Shinso quickly, assessing the situation. “You guys could have started withou-“
“Well we didn’t. And we’re hungry.” Hitoshi looks over at Harumi, eyes narrowed. “Can you excuse us?”
“O-of course. I’ll talk to you later, Kats!” Shinso felt Midoriya tense at the nickname. He looked towards his blonde friend, questioningly.
“I already told you not to call me that,” Bakugou murmured, turning away.
Midoriya couldn’t help but notice that he was still carrying the bento box. The small irritation crawling back up his chest. Why was he being so nice?
“Bakugou,” Hitoshi let go of Midoriya’s wrist. “Let me see that bento box.” The blonde looked over his shoulder with irritation.
“What the fuck for-“Hitoshi grabbed it out the teen’s hands, inspecting it. As the two walked towards their table, Shinso nonchalantly threw the box in the passing garbage. “What the FUCK, Insomniac?! That was my fucking lunch!”
“Well, I guess you have to eat cafeteria food like the rest of us, don’t you?” Shinso turned to Midoriya, who looked equally as shocked at his friend’s action. “I’m going to go sit with Denki, can you grab an extra bowl of rice for me please?”
“I – of course, Hitoshi.”
“What the fuck is going on between you two?” Katsuki hissed.
“Be a dear and escort my friend to get lunch. I would suggest hurrying if you’re so hungry. The break is almost half over. You’ve kept him waiting long enough, Bakugou.” Shinso walked off, crossing the short distance to their typical table.
Bakugou looked torn between following him and actually listening. Midoriya sighed, “Let’s go, Kacchan. We can grab you something somewhat healthy that will hold you over until dinner.” Izuku began walking towards the line.
“Oi,” Midoriya looked over his shoulder and locked eyes with his boyfriend who looked almost nervous. “Is something wrong?”
“No,” he felt himself say automatically, although his mind was screaming at him otherwise. “Let’s get something to eat.”
Walking into class the next day to another bento box for Katsuki was upsetting to say the least. Midoriya felt his eyes instantly narrow as the perfectly wrapped box with an envelope on top sat on the middle of his desk. Looking around he could see that his classmates were not as entertained as they were yesterday. ‘I wonder why,” Midoriya thought as he began walking to his seat.
“Midoriya. Can we have a minute?” He and Katsuki looked up to see Todoroki, Ochako, Kirishima, and Ashido all by the door. “Alone, if possible.” Bakugou looked down at his boyfriend and then back up at his friends, before turning towards his seat.
Midoriya walked outside of the classroom with his friends. “What’s up guys?”
“Why didn’t you tell us you and Bakubro were dating, man? Totally uncool!” Kirishima said, the rest nodding in agreement. “We had no idea!”
Izuku looked over his friends in shock. He could have sworn – “I thought everyone knew,” he murmured. “I guess we never came out and straight said it, bu-“
“Deku, you two are as awkward as they come. You guys don’t hold hands, don’t kiss. Sure, Bakugou had calmed down a lot since the beginning of last year, but we just assumed you two were friends.” Ochako stated.
“Not saying anything is wrong with you two being together, it’s cute!” Ashido chimed in.
“Very manly.”
“I guess I can approve.”
“What we’re trying to say, Deku, is that since we didn’t even know until Kaminari told us last night after hearing from Shinso, we don’t think anyone else knows.” Ochako looked into the classroom, staring at Katsuki’s desk.
“Well, I mean – now that you guys officially know, I guess it doesn’t really matter who el-“
“It does.” Todoroki’s eyes hardened. “That girl obviously has a thing for Bakugou.”
“Yeah, and we’re sorry for feeding into it yesterday. But now that we know, we’re not going to sit here and watch her try and take your man!” Ashido smiled, patting Izuku’s shoulder.
“Totally unmanly of Bakubro to even lead her on! I’ll talk to him!”
“And I’ll set that hussy straight if I need to!”
“You guys!” Izuku interrupted their comments. “I – I’m thankful. But it’s fine.” It wasn’t. “Maybe she just wants to learn more about his quirk like she said.” She doesn’t. “And I trust Kacchan, he doesn’t think anything of it either.” He does. “I appreciate it, and I promise I’ll work on being more forthcoming. I honestly thought everyone knew about us, but now that I think about it, we aren’t as open as most couples. And that’s my fault. I guess I’m shy after all.” He laughs thinking of all the times Katsuki has called him out for not wanting to hold his hand in public.
“If you say so, Midoriya. But, please know, we support you wholeheartedly.” Todoroki smiled softly. “I think you two are good for each other.”
“Thanks,” Midoriya smiled. Maybe today wouldn’t be so bad.
Harumi Nakama or as Uraraka liked to call her, Whoreumi, had somehow got out of class early enough to make her way to class 2-A and walk with Bakugou to lunch, quizzing him about his quirk. From what Izuku heard, her quirk, detonation, allowed for her to detonate and cause any inanimate object she touched to explode. Saying their quirks were similar just because they were each explosive was a stretch, but that’s neither here nor there.
During lunch, she sat at the edge of their table, eyeing Shinso suspiciously, assumingly it was because he threw her box out yesterday.
Bakugou was obviously annoyed, however not so annoyed to tell her to leave him alone. Midoriya tried his best to focus on his food and conversation with his friends, however, couldn’t help but look at how at ease Nakama looked next to the blonde. If he were to be honest, the two looked good together. She laughed at something he grumbled, pushing her hair back behind her ear, leaning in closer. Izuku pushed his seat back and got up in a haste.
“Where do you think you’re going, nerd?” Katsuki had asked him in surprise. Izuku hadn’t responded, just grabbed his tray and began walking out of the lunchroom, dumping his barely touched lunch on the way out.
Throughout the rest of the day, his mind just couldn’t unsee how good the two looked together. It made him hot with irritation. Bakugou was his. Who did this girl think she was? Coming to his lunch table and sitting with his boyfriend. Before Izuku knew it, they were in their last class of the day.
Teamed up with Kirishima today, Izuku was able to take a lot of his frustration out in training. Kirishima and him had always been a good match up. By the end of class, he felt himself smiling. All thoughts of the annoying first year gon-
“Tomorrow the first years will be spectating your training session.” Aizawa announced. “Be sure to show them everything you got. Also, if any of them have any questions, try your best to be decent human beings and help them out. That goes for you too, Bakugou.”
“HE-“
“Class dismissed.”
Once out of the locker room, Midoriya moved to where he and Katsuki normally met up to walk to the dorms together. He sighed, taking a seat under a tree. Midoriya didn’t want that girl in their class tomorrow. Watching Bakugou’s every move, impressed by his grit and determination. He didn’t want her to come into training, asking questions about how Katsuki had become so amazing. Izuku didn’t want her seeing Katsuki in his most comfortable state, training to become the best.
“Nakama, I see Bakugou let you sit with him and his friends today at lunch.” Izuku turned at the name. Looking over, he saw Nakama and one of her friends, walking towards the locker room exit.
“Yes, it was so much fun. Bakugou acts grumpy, but I’m sure he’ll come around.”
“Yea, you two looked so cute together. I don’t see why he wouldn’t want to date you, you’re top of the class, beautiful, and have such a powerful quirk. If what I hear is true, that’s pretty much a perfect match for him.”
“Thanks, Yoshihara.” Nakama smiled at her friend, genuinely. “Hey, maybe once he agrees to date me, I can ask him if he has any cute friends for you. We can double date.”
Yoshihara laughed, “You’re so sure of yourself already, huh?”
“You know I always get what I want. Oh look, there he is. See you later!” Nakama waved as she ran over to Bakugou, who was heading towards Izuku. “Bakugou!”
Bakugou locked eyes with Nakama, slightly surprised at seeing her after school. “What the hell are you doing here,” he asked, slightly irritated.
“I just figured we could walk back to the dorms together, is that ok? I know you normally walk back with your friend. Midoriya, was it?”
‘Tell her, Kacchan. Tell her that I’m not your friend. I’m your boyfriend. Tell her.’
“What are you, some kind of fucking stalker,” he huffed, stuffing his hands in his pocket.
Izuku got up from his seat on the bench, turning away from the two. “Deku,” he heard Katsuki out to him. Midoriya looked over his shoulder at the younger girl and his boyfriend, narrowing his eyes slightly, before storming off.
By the time the class returned to the dorms, Midoriya was angry. He walked through the common areas without giving a second glance to anyone. He felt the eyes of his classmates on him, but he just wanted to get to his room.
Izuku slammed his door shut before locking it and throwing his backpack on the ground. He tried his best to calm himself down, but nothing was working. Midoriya couldn’t figure out where his anger was coming from. Nakama seemed nice enough. Why was he so worked up over this? Over her? Deku threw himself onto his bed, driving his face into his pillow.
He and Katsuki had been dating for about 7 months now. Most of the time affection was something they showed each other in private. He loved the moments when Bakugou would laugh next to him, pushing his curls out of his face only for them to fall right back into place. Or the nights he couldn’t sleep and Bakugou would come down to his room and lay there, talking with him about whatever came to mind until Midoriya fell asleep, his arms around Katsuki’s waist. Or the small kisses that started off sweetly at Deku’s temple, his face pampered until Katsuki found his lips. His hand pulling at the hair, deepening the kiss until they were both breathless.
Bakugou had attempted multiple times to try and show affection towards Deku in public. There were times where he had grabbed his hand in public, but Izuku became a stuttering mess and pulled his hand away. Or times when Katsuki reached down for a kiss, only for Midoriya to nervously turn the other way. It’s not that he didn’t want to do those things with Bakugou. ‘Sometimes I just don’t think I’m good enough.’
“Deku!” A pounding at the door broke him out of his thoughts. Midoriya groaned into his pillow at the sound of Bakugou on the other side of the dorm door. “Open this fucking door!”
“Kacchan,” he whined, getting up and heading towards the door. He unlocked the door and opened it to see a very angry blonde.
“What the fuck, Deku?!” He pushed past him to get into his dorm. “What the hell is up with you?”
“What are yo-“
“Don’t even start that shit, nerd! You’ve been acting like a fucking jackass all day and it’s really starting to piss me off!”
“Jackass?! How the hell have I been a jackass to you, Katsuki?!” Midoriya watched as his boyfriend’s eyes widened slightly at the use of his first name before quickly furrowing back to anger.
“You’ve ignored me all fucking day! During lunch you walked off without a word and right now, we always walk back to these shitty dorms together and you just fucking took off!”
“Didn’t seem like you minded,” Deku murmured, sitting back on the bed.
“What the fuck was that?” Katsuki looked down at the him. “If you have something to fucking say, just say it! I don’t want to go around in fucking circles with you!”
“I said, it didn’t seem like you minded!”
“And what the hell does that mean?”
“It means, that you’ve been interested in hardly anything else other than Harumi Nakama for the last few days! It didn’t seem like you minded me leaving!”
“WHAT THE F-“Katsuki cut himself off, taking in a breath. Midoriya watched as Bakugou’s face went from looking incredibly angry to thoughtful. “Are you jealous?”
Izuku laughed, “What the hell do I have to be jealous about?”
“Answer the question, Deku.”
“No! Why would I be jealous? I mean sure, she’s cute and has a beautiful smile. If someone were into those sorts of things, one could even say she had a nice body!
“Deku,” Katsuki tried to interrupt.
“And she can cook if we’re going by the looks of what was in your bento box today. She is nice and popular. She seems very confident.”
“Oi, Dek-“
“I hear she’s at the top of her class, so she must be smart! And her quirk sounds amazing! I’m sure she could have anyone she really pursued. She seems like a complete catc-“
“IZUKU!” Katsuki slapped a hand across Izuku’s mouth, leaning in close to his boyfriend. “You’re jealous.”
“Ahm mot,” Midoriya’s voice muffled by his boyfriend’s hand. Katsuki sighed, letting his hand slide from Deku’s mouth and went to caress the adjoining cheek. Izuku sighed, leaning into the soft touch. They sat like that for a few minutes, Midoriya letting his heartrate slow down.
“Are you – are you insecure?” Katsuki whispered softly. Midoriya’s eyes met Bakugou’s, a rare soft look crossing his face.
“I –“ His eyebrows knitted together. Was he?
“Deku, if you want me to shout from the school yard how hot you are, I will.”
Midoriya laughed. “Shut u-“
“I’m fucking serious! I will. I will let everyone at this shitty school know how hot and amazing my boyfriend is! And I’ll tell them how smart you are, sure not smarter than me but you can’t beat the best!” Katsuki smirked, continuing to rub his thumb against Midoriya’s cheek. “And I’ll let everyone know how kind you are, how you’re always thinking of other’s before yourself. How much effort you into becoming a great hero. I’ll tell them how compassionate you are, not only accepting my shitty personality and it’s flaws, but forgiving me and moving forward with me.”
“Kacchan,” he whispered, tears forming. Midoriya threw his arms around his boyfriend, pushing him onto the bed. He nuzzled his face into the other’s neck.
Katsuki laughed breathlessly, wrapping his arms around Deku and pulling him closer. He kissed the shell of Izuku’s ear before whispering, “I’ll let the whole damn school know how big your dick is and how good you are at sucking min-“
“KACCHAN!” Izuku laughed, pulling away. Katsuki smiled before bringing his hands up to pull Midoriya into a chaste kiss.
Pulling away, Katsuki looked Deku in the eye. “You get it now, nerd? You don’t have shit to worry about or be jealous about or whatever. You’re mine and I’m yours. Get it?”
Midoriya smiled, “Yeah, I get it.”
“Good. Now suck my cock, I’m still angry at you for leaving me earlier!”
“Kacchan,” he laughed, letting himself be pulled down for another kiss.
Katsuki had an appointment the next morning, so Izuku walked into class alone, mentally preparing himself to see another bento box on the blonde’s desk. He was surprised when he didn’t see it.
“Don’t worry, Midoriya. We told her to kick rocks for ya,” Kaminari stated, proudly.
“No, I told her to kick rocks. You just stood there, man,” Kirishima scolded.
“You didn’t even tell her to kick rocks. You told her that Bakugou wasn’t going to be in class today,” Todoroki told.
“HEY!”
“Come on, Todoroki! Way to ruin the story! Unmanly, dude.”
Midoriya smiled, sitting at his seat. “Thanks you guys, you didn’t have to do that.”
“She is not coming in here and ruining my best friend’s relationship! Team BakuDeku is on it!” Ochako exclaimed ecstatically, the rest of their friends cheering in agreement.
Midoriya could feel the tension during lunch as Harumi sat next to Bakugou, talking to him as if she couldn’t feel the multiple eyes staring her down from across the table. Bakugou didn’t appear to be paying much attention to whatever she was saying, but nonetheless he wasn’t actively telling her to leave him alone.
“Jeez, I sure wish Bakugou was as nice to us as he is to you, Nakama,” Kaminari said from across the table. “Whenever we talk to him about anything he deems useless, he tells us to shut up or die.”
“Shut up,” Bakugou commented.
“You know, what? You’re right, Denki. Bakugou sure is a fucking asshole,” Hitoshi chimed in, a sly grin crossing his face as he turned to look at Katsuki and Izuku. “He’s rude, cocky, and has an ego bigger than Jupiter.”
“What the h-“Bakugou looked up at his friends as he was interrupted.
“And he’s not even that good looking,” Uraraka said, quickly catching on. “He’s constantly frowning. He’ll get wrinkles faster than the rest of us at this rate. Especially right here,” she pointed at the V of her forehead.
“Yeah! And he’s so damn loud!”
“And very unmanly!”
“Always breaking school rules!”
“His dick isn’t that impressive.” The entire table stopped and looked over at Todoroki. He slurped his soba, looking up at the quiet table. “What? Aren’t we insulting Bakugou?”
Midoriya shook his head and laughed, realizing what his friends were trying to do.
“You’re just going to sit there and let them talk about me like that, shitty nerd?!” Katsuki’s palms popped, glaring at Midoriya.
“Yeah,” he felt himself laughing, “I think I will, Kacchan.”
“Why you-“
“Kacchan?” The two looked back at Harumi who was staring at back at them. Bakugou’s palms stopped popping.
“Yeah, Deku has been calling me that since we were kids,” he frowned, not liking her questioning tone. “Only he can use it. Don’t even think about it.”
Harumi pouted, “That’s fine. I like Kats better.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Besides,” Nakama’s attention turned towards the rest of the group. “I think he’s amazing.” The bell rang, signifying the end of lunch. She stood quicker than anyone else. “Some friends you got here, Kats,” she said before turning and walking towards her own.
“I’ll fucking kill her!” Ashido hissed, standing up.
“Mina, chill.” Kaminari grabbed her arm, pulling her back down. “But seriously man, why are you so nice to her?”
Bakugou rolled his eyes. “You guys call that nice?”
“Well you aren’t telling her to shut up every three seconds like you do us.” Sero pointed out.
“She’s not my fucking friend, you idiots!” Bakugou ran his palm across his face. “You needy fucks are used to how I am! She’s a first year! Do you remember how it was your first month at UA? Thinking you were so great for getting into this damn school only to realize you aren’t shit! Realizing that there are people who are stronger, smarter, better than you! Sure, you found a couple friends but the stress of keeping up and attempting to prove yourself was fucking insane those first few months! Of course it seems like so long ago for us, we’ve been through more shit than anyone at this damn school could possibly think about! But I’m not going to be a dick to a kid trying to find herself when I was in her shoes a year ago!”
Everyone at the table stared at Katsuki, shocked. Midoriya smiled softly, ‘So that’s what it was.’
“Oh my god, my boy is growing into a man!” Kirishima got up and pulled Bakugou into a hug.
“I can’t believe this is the same Bakugou who told us all to die our first class together!”
“He still tells us that,” Todoroki pointed out.
“Hun, you’re so sweet!”
“And don’t think we’re skimming over the fact that you called us all your friends,” Hitoshi pointed out, also getting up.
“Don’t fucking start!”
“Hey, you said it,” Shinso smiled as he walked away, Kaminari laughing uncontrollably behind him.
“Kacchan likes us! Kacchan likes us!”
“I SAID DON’T CALL ME THAT!” Katsuki took off, running after the couple. Kirishima, Sero, and Ashido taking off after them as well.
“Hey,” Midoriya turned towards Ochako and Todoroki, the other’s already walking off to class. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” he nodded genuinely. “He’s right. She is a first year, Kacchan is kind for not pushing her away.”
“Tsk,” Uraraka frowned. “She better not try anything funny.”
“Don’t worry Ochako, I think I scared her off with my dick comment.” Todoroki stated calmly, walking next to the other two to class.
“Yeah, why’s that?” Midoriya laughed.
“Don’t girls not like unimpressive penises?”
“Todoroki!” The three laughed. Hopefully, the rest of the day would pan out smoothly.
The first years couldn’t help but be in awe with class 2-A’s training class. The entire class gave it their all to show off their powerful quirks, the special moves that had created and refined, as well as their battle tactics. Midoriya felt pride wash over him as many students gasped in awe as they saw how destructive his Air Force blast could be.
“Time’s up,” Aizawa called. “The first years are going to come down and talk to you guys for the remainder of the class. Afterwards, you can shower and be done for the day.”
Midoriya answered any questions in regard to his quirk, letting the first years know that if they had any questions, they could seek him out. A lot of them showed interest in multiple people, he watched as they went from student to student asking about their different capabilities and technique. Even Mineta was becoming a hit.
“Nerd,” Midoriya looked over and smiled at the approaching teen.
“You did great today, Kacchan.” Not to anyone’s surprise. Bakugou loved showing off, today’s training class was right up his alley. Katsuki stopped right in front of him, grabbing his shoulder. Last night before Bakugou left to his room, they two had talked about why Izuku had been so nervous about showing affection in public. ‘What do you mean you don’t think you’re good enough for me? Do you think I’d be with anyone who wasn’t? You have nothing to be insecure about, nerd. I love you and I’ll show you and any other doubting idiot out there! Be prepared! Starting tomorrow, not a day will go by without anyone knowing that you’re mine!’
“Of course I did. Why the fuck wouldn’t I?” Katsuki moved his hand upwards, running his hand across the nape of Deku’s neck. “You didn’t do too bad yourself. I saw you showing off out there.”
“Stop, Kacchan, that tickles!” Midoriya laughed.
“Oh! Bakugou!” Midoriya’s heart dropped as the feeling of Katsuki’s hand disappeared as he turned to face Harumi, followed by two of her friends.
“What is it,” Bakugou growled, sounding irritated from being interrupted. Midoriya looked around and saw most of the first years and their class were starting to trickle out of the training grounds. Izuku caught eyes with Ochako who was standing close by with Kirishima and Kaminari.
“You did really great today. I knew your quirk was powerful, but I could never imagine how amazing it was until seeing it today in person!” Harumi’s eyes were filled with awe.
“Yeah,” Katsuki agreed. Midoriya began moving away, feeling the need to get away. He felt slightly disappointed in himself. He woke up this morning determined not to let the girl’s crush get the better of him today, however he still couldn’t help but feel so irritated and insecure when she was around. Bakugou side eyed him as Midoriya shifted beside him. “Where the fuck to do you think you’re going?” Midoriya stopped in his tracks.
“So, Kats-”
“Don’t call me that.”
Harumi chuckled, her hand moving to grab at Bakugou’s arm. Midoriya could see him tense slightly, but didn’t say anything about it. “I was hoping since it’s Friday, maybe you and I could grab something to eat tonight. I know a really awesome place not to far into town that has a lot of healthy alternatives.”
Midoriya watched as Katsuki’s eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “Are you –“Bakugou’s eyes narrowed. “Like a date?”
“Yeah, I figured with the two of us getting to know each other the last fe-“
Katsuki looked over at Midoriya who was trying his best not to get upset. Deku suddenly felt a tug on his wrist, pulling him closer to Bakugou. “I figured the nerd was overreacting, but it turns out he wasn’t. You like me?”
Harumi’s eyes flickered between the two of them, her face flushing. “Well yeah, I thought I –“
“Don’t.” Bakugou held his free hand up, cutting her off. “Look, you seem like a nice girl. But this is my boyfriend.” Midoriya stuttered, looking up at Bakugou in shock.
“Kacchan!”
“What, it’s true isn’t it?!”
“Boyfriend?” Nakama stared at Midoriya in disbelief. “But he – I’m sorry – maybe I’m misunderstanding. Didn’t you just sit there uselessly while your shitty friends bashed him for part of lunch hour?”
“Hey, those are my friends too!” Bakugou growled, pushing Midoriya slightly behind him. “Listen, no one’s asking you to understand my relationship with Deku or our friends, but you aren’t going to sit here and talk shit about them to me and expect me to be nice about it.”
“I’m sorry, Bakugou.” She looked startled at his outburst. “I’m just – I thought you liked me too.”
“I don’t.”
“Kacchan,” Izuku whined, starting to feel bad for Harumi.
“What, I fucking don’t,” Katsuki hissed, looking at his boyfriend. “And I’m not going to sit here and listen to her call you useless or our shitty friends, shitty. Only I can do that.”
“Then why were you so nice to me?”
“Because I’ve been a fucking first year before and know how hard it is. For fucksake, can’t I just be decent without wanting to get into your fucking pants? Get over yourself.” Bakugou sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Look, I’m okay with helping you or whatever. But I’m off the market. If you can’t accept that, then don’t bother talking to me again.”
Nakama looked between the two once more, her eyes beginning to water. “I have to go,” she turned and stormed off, her two friends following quickly behind her.
Midoriya couldn’t help but feel bad for her. “Don’t.” He looked up at the sound of Bakugou’s voice. “I know you, you dumb nerd. You’re starting to feel bad. Don’t.”
“It must have taken a lot of courage to ask you out the way she did.”
“It doesn’t matter, this is my fault anyways. “
Izuku frowned, “How so?”
“Kirishima and I talked earlier, I guess no one really did know we were together. If I had realized she liked me from the beginning and set the record straight, neither of you would have been hurt.” Katsuki’s hand returned to the back of his neck, slowly pulling his hair, forcing Midoriya to look up at him. “From now on, I don’t care how embarrassed you are! I’m showing you off to everyone.”
Midoriya laughed, wrapping his arms around Bakugou’s neck, pulling him down closer, “Is that a promise?”
“What do you think?” Katsuki pressed his lips against Izuku’s, running his tongue against Deku’s bottom lip.
“Get a fucking room!” Midoriya heard Kaminari yell over Ochako’s and Kirishima’s whistles.
Katsuki pulled away slightly, turning towards their friends before flipping them off and shouting, “No!”
Midoriya laughed as he brought Bakugou’s lips back to his, showing off to anyone who was willing to watch that Katsuki Bakugou was his.
