Chapter Text
Time stood completely still as Jungkook stood in his living room with his parents disapproving stares and a baby lying comfortably in his arms. He looked from the little bundle who was staring at him with wonder back to his parents. He was panicking slightly on the inside as they held papers in their hands and basically didn’t give him an option on the matter they were discussing.
“Jungkook, hand her over.” His mother held out her arms but he didn’t comply, he tightened his arms a little more bringing the unnamed baby closer to his chest.
The I’m a father rendition had finally stopped in his head now replaced with They can’t have her . Was he an idiot for forgetting the most important thing you put on when having sex.
Yes, he was.
But despite what his parents said, he couldn’t bring himself to hand over his daughter. He knew if he did he would be making the biggest mistake of his life. She wasn’t a mistake, just a little unplanned, brought into this world a little to early but he didn’t care.
He was only eighteen. He had no clue how to raise a baby but ever since the nurses handed her over to be put in his arms, he was a goner. He couldn’t take his eyes away from the big brown eyes that stared back at him.
So no, he wasn’t going to hand her over to be drafted into some family he didn’t know. He was for once not going to listen to his parents this time. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do but he needed to think of a plan fast.
“I’m sorry, I can’t do that.” Jungkook cradled his daughter like the nurses showed him, pulling her blanket closer, hiding her face from view.
“Jungkook, this is ridiculous. There’s no way you can take care of a child when you are a child yourself. Now hand her over and we can be done with this whole mess you got into.” Jungkook’s father stepped forward, his patience running thin, but Jungkook stepped back shaking his head.
“No, she’s not some mess to clean up. God, don’t you feel anything for her, she’s you’re granddaughter.” Jungkook knew it was a weak argument. How could they feel anything when they were too busy and too worried about what others would think of them. What he did was a scandal in their eyes and being rid of his daughter was the only way they knew to remedy the scandal.
They could take her over his dead body.
“The only thing I’m feeling is frustration and annoyance because my idiot son won’t listen.” Jungkook’s father again stepped forward and actually tried grabbing for the little bundle but Jungkook was faster.
Sidestepping around his father Jungkook grabbed for his backpack and went for the front door. “I know I disappointed you, failed you. But trust me on this when I say that you are not laying your hands on her. She’s mine and I will raise her to be happy, to chase her dreams and show her the fun of life instead of being raised for a position I don’t want. Disown me, never talk to me again, I don’t care. But you are not giving away my daughter.” Jungkook watched as his parents turned their backs and he nodded his head.
Turning on his heel he went out the front door and was on the verge of running when he finally made it to the bus stop. There was only one friend he could count on, and if he got turned away again he was going to be so screwed.
“You’re mommies parents and mine have a giant stick up their ass, that’s why they can’t see how cute and lovable you are,” Jungkook whispered into his daughters head, kissing the dark spurts of hair on her little head. Mewling sounded and he grinned as a tiny smile appeared on her face as her small fists waved in the air.
The birth was put under the rug and no birth certificate was brought up so he had free rein to name her whatever he wanted. As they waited for the bus, he thought up names that would suit the little happy bundle in his arms. The bus rumbling up to the stop brought him out of his thinking and he quickly loaded onto the bus thanking the heavens it was pretty empty.
He sat in the back letting out a sigh, bouncing his arms absentmindedly, watching the scenery go by. He knew he was on autopilot, that when he got a moment to himself he would start to freak out. Right now though, his mind was on one thing at the moment.
Finding a place to stay and getting a name for his ladybug.
When they made it to their stop, he jogged singing under his breath, laughing a little under his breath as she seemed to like the bouncy movement his jogging brought.
Coming up to the house, he swallowed and knocked on the front door of his best friend and just hoped he didn’t get turned away.
The front door opened. “I was wondering when you would be showing up, now hand her over, I’ve been waiting.” Jin grinned holding out his arms, and Jungkook sagged in relief at the elder, gently handing over the bundle.
“Thank you,” Jungkook said simply. Jin shook his head as cooed at the baby, making funny faces that looked ridiculous.
“So I’m guessing the talk with your parents didn’t go well?” Jin sat on the couch, still keeping his voice soft and started to rock the baby.
“What gave you that idea, hyung?” Jungkook stated sarcastically, raising an eyebrow.
“Hey watch it brat, I’m older and here to help so don’t pull that famous attitude with me.” Jin huffed continuing his rocking motion, watching the baby slowly fall asleep. “Have you named her yet?”
Jungkook shook his head. “No, no birth certificate and I need to get all the money I have saved before my parents close my bank account.” Jungkook ran a hand through his hair.
“Well go do that now. Here take this list and pick up everything on it. I’ll watch the little one.” Jin handed over a list and his credit card then went back to what he was doing, ignoring the stunned look cross over Jungkook’s face. “And don’t thank me until she’s a college graduate and following her dreams.”
Jungkook laughed nodding his head, but he did hug Jin before running out the door to head to the bank. Thankfully he got there and was able to empty his bank account. Once that was done he was on his way to the baby store and found himself completely overwhelmed.
He went through the aisles looking down at the list, looking at all the newborn stuff. He looked through the clothes which were actually harder than it looked considering Jin was the more fashionable one out of the two of them. Blowing out a breath he grabbed a cart and started loading it up.
He was looking through the toys and stuffed animals when he bumped into someone and caused them to drop the toys piled in their arms. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry.”
The man grinned shaking his head. “Nah it’s fine. Wow, that’s quite the load there.”
Jungkook looked at his basket while holding one of the toys the guy had been picking up from the shelf. He swallowed, steeled his resolve. “Yeah, uh newborn at home we weren’t prepared for.”
The man raised a brow but smiled gently. “Well if it’s a newborn then I wouldn’t buy this particular toy, they could choke on the small bits.” The man pointed to one of the toys Jungkook grabbed because it looked cute.
“Oh, yeah well, I’m just preparing for the future.” Jungkook chuckled, running a hand through his hair. A wave of exhaustion hit him causing him to sigh. “Anyway, I need to go. Sorry again for bumping into you.”
“And like I said, it’s fine. Have a nice day.” The guy waved leaving the aisle. Jungkook stared after him, his smile somehow reminded him of the sun shining down on him.
Shaking his head, he went to the checkout and wondered how the hell he was going to carry all this stuff. Deciding to call a cab, he waited, playing on his phone until it rang with his parent’s ringtone. The theme song to Jaws.
Hitting the off button, he pocketed his phone back and wondered if he should get a new phone and change his number.
Getting back, Jin helped him carry in all the stuff he purchased and then they figured out where to place the bassinette.
“I’ve thought about what I wanted to name her,” Jungkook said over dinner, he watched his little ladybug suck from her bottle her eyes wide like she just discovered a new talent though she’s of course eaten before. It never failed to make him laugh. Babies were pretty good entertainment when you’re feeling down.
“Well, are you going tell me?” Jin asked, placing down their dinner.
Jungkook thanked him. “Jeon Hyerin.” He said quietly.
“Hyerin. I like it, good job Jungkook.” Jin took Hyerin from Jungkook. “Now eat so you can get this little one to bed.”
Jungkook nodded watching Jin wipe throw up from Hyerin and go about singing to her.
Closing his eyes, he thanked whatever god out there that brought Jin into his life. The elder was a life savior, and he knew he would never know how to repay him. Finishing his dinner, he laid his head on his hand dozing off.
Everything was going to be okay. He could do this with Jin’s help. He sent out a promise to Hyerin he would never give up on her even on his worst days when he felt like giving up.
He will always be here for her.
---------------- ------------------ --------------
Twelve hours. Twelve hours he had been on his feet and he was tired. Between running from class to work then back to his evening class then back to where he volunteers and apprentices at a dance studio he wasn’t just tired.
He was on the verge of dying.
Stepping up to the front door of the shared house he has with Jin and his boyfriend Namjoon, he threw off his shoes and dropped his bag before heading to the third bedroom down the hall. He quietly opened the door, poking his head in and saw Hyerin fast asleep, her mouth wide open and limbs starfished. He had to hold back the laugh, she slept like him and it never failed to amuse him. Kissing her forehead he made sure she was covered before backing out and softly closing the door.
Jeon Hyerin was a rambunctious five-year-old that loved adventure and wasn’t scared to try new things. Just last week she was at the playground and jumped off her swing trying to fly. It had scared ten years off his life as he ran to her having been sat on the benches for parents. He shouldn’t have worried though. She had landed on her feet before stumbling and face planting into the crushed foamy stuff. She had popped her head up and laughed at his stricken look.
Yes laughed, while he was having a heart attack she had laughed her butt off and got up to run for the swings to try to fly again. He had put a stop to that before she broke something.
Five years old and she was already a little genius thanks to Uncle Namjoon. She was already reading a bit and spelling along with counting. Her vocabulary was pretty big and having a conversation with her was one of those things he’d never get tired of.
Walking into the kitchen, he sees Jin sitting at the table with two mugs of steaming tea and going through some papers. Slumping tiredly into the seat across from the elder, Jungkook took a hold of his mug but just held it staring into the light liquid.
“You look like shit,” Jin said writing something down on his notepad.
“Oh really and here I thought I looked liked prince charming.” Jungkook rolled his eyes.
“You need a break Kook, and I don’t mean for like an afternoon. I mean you need to take a break and relax.” Jin looked up, his face a mask of concern. “I’m getting worried you’re going to wear yourself out. Plus Hyerin barely sees you. She misses her dad.”
Jungkook glared at the low blow like he wanted to work his ass off all day while his little girl got to play with her uncle’s more than him. It made him sad but he did what he had to do to support her, he couldn’t keep taking charity from Jin forever. By the contract from Jin, he wasn’t allowed to help with bills until he graduated and got a promoted from apprentice to dance instructor.
He had rolled his eyes at Jin’s dramatics when he presented Jungkook the contract. He signed and used his little paychecks his mentor gave him for buying Hyerin toys or taking her for ice cream when he was free.
He worked and worked so when he did graduate he could give Hyerin things he wasn’t allowed. His parents may have been rich but they never let Jungkook have fun. He was raised to take over for his father, never was able to be a kid. That was not the way he would raise Hyerin. He would teach her the lessons about life as she got older while also letting her be a kid. Seeing her smile and laugh as she runs after a playful dog or to hear her stories she loved to come up with is the highlight of his life and he would never take that precious innocence from her. He was determined to let her mature and grow at her own speed with his help along the way.
“It’s not like I can take off, I used most of my vacation days that week you, Namjoon and Hyerin were down with the flu, then had to take off another two weeks cause I came down with it.” Jungkook shook his head. That had been a fun month. “Hyung you think I like not spending time with Hyerin, I wish I could be home at a reasonable hour-”
“See if you can get this weekend off. Friday, see if you can take off going to the dance studio. Namjoon and I will watch Hyerin, we were going to go visit his parents that Friday and you know how much his parents adore Hyerin. While we have her, you go out with Jimin, Yoongi, and Taehyung. Then this weekend just spend some time with Hyerin, have a father, daughter outing.” Jin laid out his hands like he was showing his last playing card and the suggestion did sound intriguing.
“I’ll see what I can do,” Jungkook muttered. It did sound nice to just take a weekend and spend it at the park or at home playing with Hyerin.
“Good, now eat your dinner that’s in the fridge and go to bed.” Jin patted his shoulder as he left the kitchen. “Night Kookie.”
“Night Jinnie,” Jungkook replied.
He knew Jin was right, didn’t mean he had to be happy about it. Sighing he went to bed deciding to eat later, he was too tired to eat anything. As soon as his head hit the pillow he was out like a light.
---------------- ------------------ ----------------
The club was loud and pumping with bodies gyrating on the dance floor, drunk college students making out in a few booths and the majority of people were around the bar talking or trying to pick someone to take home.
Jungkook had no intention of taking anyone home is what he told himself but when he saw his three friends on the dance floor squishing Jimin between them, he had a slash of envy. He wasn’t up to dancing when he was this sober and he wasn’t up to getting plastered drunk so he chilled by the bar watching the trainwreck of gayness that was his best friends trying to get it on, the dance floor didn’t stand a chance.
It was pretty amusing to watch.
“Now that’s what I call softcore porn.” Jungkook turned to the voice seeing a guy leaning against the bar trying to get the barman’s attention. What he said was pretty true.
“They like to make a scene, can’t blame them for having fun though,” Jungkook replied sipping his beer.
“Oh, I’m not complaining. Think they’d let me join?” The guy turned to Jungkook with a shit eating grin and something about him seemed familiar to him but he couldn’t put his finger on what it was.
Jungkook shook his head with a laugh glancing back to see Taehyung now in the middle of Yoongi and Jimin. “I don’t think so. They’re actually all together.”
The guy raises his eyebrow, whistling. “Well, then I won’t intervene. How about you?”
Jungkook had taken a sip and nearly choked when he was asked. “Me!? No no, uh I’m not here with anyone.”
The guy grinned again, amusement clear in his eyes. “You got a name, kid?”
Jungkook scoffed. “I’m not a kid, and it’s Jungkook.”
The guy raised a hand in surrender though there was amusement that didn’t leave his eyes. “Excuse me, didn’t mean to offend you. I’m Hoseok.” Hoseok held out a hand, Jungkook took it giving it a squeeze before letting go.
They settled into easy conversation talking about nothing and anything that interested them, Jungkook finding out Hoseok was new in town and was looking for inspiration for a new project but he didn’t let Jungkook know what it was.
After an hour of light conversation, Hoseok threw back a shot then held out a hand. “Would you like to dance?”
Jungkook chugged the rest of his beer before nodding, taking the offered hand. He felt eyes on him and saw three sets of eyes of his friends watching him and he felt a blush rising to his cheeks. He let Hoseok pull him in, hands on his waist, sliding down to the small of his back. Jungkook loosely had his arms around Hoseok’s neck, their hips brushing with every move they made.
Sweat was building as they danced, full on grinding by the third song that played. Jungkook felt a hot breath on his neck, the intoxicated feeling growing with each grind, with every touch he could feel on his skin when Hoseok’s hands found they’re way under his shirt. He couldn’t help getting closer and tilting his head a little, hoping Hoseok got the message.
Lips on his neck made him lightheaded. Jungkook’s hands had a mind of their own and ran into the red hair, tugging a little to have Hoseok pulling away so their faces were just a breath apart. Jungkook licked his bottom lip, Hoseok’s eyes following the movement.
Jungkook leaned in to be by Hoseok’s ear. “If you want to kiss me, you can go ahead.” he finished by lightly nipping his earlobe before pulling back only to have fingers cradle his jaw and lead him to soft lips.
The kiss was soft at first, getting a feel for the other until Jungkook ran his tongue over Hoseok’s bottom lip and they both went under with the heat of it, the light nips, and the taste of each other getting them both drunk from this one kiss. The hands on Jungkook’s jaw trailed down to slide into the back pockets of his jeans, squeezing a little. Jungkook ran hot hands down Hoseok’s back to dip underneath his shirt and feeling soft skin under his fingertips.
Hoseok pulled back, chest heaving and lips spit slick, his light brown eyes were hooded and dark, Jungkook was two seconds away from taking him to some secluded spot in the club and fully wreck him (he’s not thinking about the fact he’s been basically celibate since Hyerin was born, he really wants to make up for lost time)
“So will I get the pleasure of going home with you, or you coming with me?” Hoseok asked, he took his hands from the back pockets of Jungkook’s jeans, laying them on thin hips instead.
Jungkook looked over at the bar, snorting at his friends. Jimin was making making jacking off motion with his hand, Taehyung was giving him a thumbs up and Yoongi was sipping his drink, his eyes saying to be careful.
Looking back to Hoseok, he took his hand and led him out of the club, and hailed a cab.
Once they were at the house, he led Hoseok inside, being thankful that Jin kept it clean and all sign of Barbie dolls and stuffed animals were out of sight. His back shut his bedroom door with the weight of Hoseok’s body colliding with his. The kiss was hot and messy but so, so perfect that he couldn’t help the sounds falling out of his mouth. When Hoseok started attacking his neck he pushed back till they were sprawled on his bed.
“I’m going to be honest, it’s been a while.” Jungkook gasped when he felt teeth nip near the waistband of his pants.
“Ahh, well don’t worry sweetheart, I’ll take good care of you.” Hoseok grinned before leaning down to kiss Jungkook, surprising him with how tender he was.
Jungkook closed his eyes, let his worries about this happening go and let Hoseok take care of him. Like Jin said, he needed a break and was going to take advantage of it for the night.
I wouldn’t mind being taken care of for once. Was Jungkook’s last thought before his mind was wiped clean by the hands and tongue that were doing wicked things to his body.
------------ ------------ ----------
The morning light seeped through the sheer curtains, brightening the room to a soft glow, but that wasn’t what woke Hoseok. No, it was the persistent poking against his forehead. He squinted his eyes open to meet brown doe eyes, and choppy black bangs hanging over thin eyebrows.
It was a child and he had a second to wonder if he was dreaming when the little girl opened her mouth and let out a shrill scream which in turn made Hoseok jump out of his skin and scream along with her.
Jungkook flung himself out of bed, tripping over his feet still half asleep as he looked from Hoseok to the little girl still screaming. Sighing, Jungkook walked over and put a hand over her mouth.
The screaming stopped.
Hoseok gazed at the adorable little girl then back to Jungkook instantly seeing the resemblances. Either he was the girls much older brother, or he had just fucked someone that had a kid.
He didn’t know how to feel about that.
“Hyerin, why?” That was all Jungkook asked and the little girl- Hyerin- spoke surprising Hoseok with her pronunciation.
“Uncle Jin and Uncle Namjoon brought me in and told me to come wake you while they went back downstairs to get my toys and their bags. Appa, why is there a naked man on the bed?” Hyerin raised her eyebrows at Jungkook.
Hoseok looked down at himself but sighed in relief when he noticed after having the best sex in his opinion, in a long time. Instead of leaving like he probably should of with how the little girl was looking at him. He and Jungkook had made something to eat in the middle of the night, resulting in them getting dressed in sweatpants.
“He’s a friend Hyerin. Go find Uncle Jin and kick him in the shin for me, tell him I told you to do that.” Jungkook ran a hand down her hair in what Hoseok saw as pure affection. This kid was a father to a little girl… didn’t teens wear condoms anymore?
Hyerin ran out of the room laughing a evil laugh which freaked him out a little then Jungkook turned to him. “I’m sorry about that.” The younger muttered.
Hoseok shook his head getting out of the bed and quickly getting dressed. “Please tell me you are either divorced or-”
“Her mother isn’t in the picture,” Jungkook said flatly. Hoseok nodded, slowing his movements. Jungkook ran a hand through his hair, his whole body tensed.
“Hey, you okay?”
Jungkook looked up from staring at the bed, small smile plastering on his face. “Yeah just thinking of ways to murder her Uncles.”
Hoseok had to laugh. It wasn’t every time he was woken by a little girl from a one-night stand. He rubbed his eyes, checking to make sure he had his wallet and phone.
Jungkook’s snicker brought him out of making sure he had everything. “What’s funny?”
“You scream like a girl.” Jungkook laughed.
Hoseok pouted. He was well aware of the fact, thank you very much. “Yah, watch it brat, I’m older.”
Jungkook snorted. “Older doesn’t mean shit half the time.”
“Okay, I’m leaving, I’m feeling very abused right now.” Hoseok scoffed, walking past a laughing Jungkook who put on a hoodie.
They entered the living room where two men were sitting on the couch while a Disney movie played on the TV. the little kid was seated in front of the coffee table acting out the scenes with her dolls.
“Hey ladybug, don’t I get a proper hug?” Jungkook came over, eyes still on Hoseok, but he held out his arms to a giggling Hyerin who ran into his arms hugging him tightly. Jungkook picked her up and cuddled her close. Despite the (cough) fun he had last night, he had missed her like crazy when he let his mind wander. He didn’t like her away from him. He trusted Jin and Namjoon but the worrying feeling of something happening when he’s not there was always at the back of his head.
“Did you have fun with your Uncle’s?” Jungkook asked into her hair.
She nodded. “Yeah, Uncle Namjoon fell off the jungle gym.” Hyerin giggled into her hand.
At the name, Hoseok perked up finally focusing his attention from Jungkook to the couch. “Kim Namjoon?”
Hoseok’s voice perked up the two, causing them to turn. “Oh my god, Jung Hoseok, you were supposed to meet my friends this weekend, not fuc- sleep with them.” Namjoon shot off the couch looking from Jungkook who smacked him before he said ‘fuck’ and to Hoseok who stood awkwardly, rubbing his neck.
“How was I supposed to know the hot dude at the bar was your friend.” Hoseok raised a brow.
Namjoon rolled his eyes before wrapping Hoseok in a bear hug. “It’s been too long.”
Hoseok laughed before pulling away, slapping Namjoon on the arm. “Yes it has, but as you can see I’m back and happy about it. Is this the guy that for some reason likes you enough to date you?”
Jin chuckled holding out a hand. “Kim Seokjin, I’ve heard so much about you.”
Hoseok shook his hand, then leaned in. “What has the oaf told you?”
Namjoon smacked him on the back of the head. “Nothing incriminating. Except for that one time, and then maybe this other time.” He laughed when Hoseok mock glared.
Jungkook and Hyerin watched the exchange then Hyerin had to open her mouth. “Are you going to be a new uncle?”
Hoseok blanched for a second, his eyes went to a panicked Jungkook who was reprimanding her. “Oh uh, no sweetheart I don’t think I get that title yet.”
Jungkook looked up his gaze connecting with Hoseok’s, there was just something about him that drew him in, that he recognized, like he had seen him- Jungkook’s eyes widened and went back to that day when he had to buy Hyerin all her baby stuff.
“You helped me, at the store when Hyerin was a baby. I ran into you and you told me not to get that toy.” Jungkook snapped his fingers causing Hyerin to flinch, flicking him on the shoulder.
Hoseok looked over his shoulder in thought, then it dawned on him. He looked at Hyerin, then back to Jungkook. “Time flies.” He grinned.
Jungkook nodded, he couldn’t take his eyes away from Hoseok. Hyerin tapped his shoulder. “Yes, ladybug?”
“I want down, Appa.” Hyerin pointed to the floor.
Jungkook let her down and watched as she whizzed passed the others and went into her room slamming the door shut. “I really wish she wouldn’t close the door.”
Jin laughed. “She deserves her privacy just like the rest of us.”
Jungkook cocked an eyebrow. “We are talking about the same little girl who locked herself in you and Namjoon’s room and found your stash of… things .” He shuddered.
Namjoon and Jin blushed as Hoseok laughed. “She sounds like a riot.”
Jungkook nodded. “You have no idea.” Just then a loud crash followed by an ‘I’m alright’ came from her room. Jungkook sighed, going to her room, but stopped next to Hoseok. “I had fun, last night… yeah, I’ll uh see you around.”
Hoseok smiled. “I hope so.” He murmured.
Jungkook blushed and was about to respond but another crash followed by a laugh that belonged in horror movies had Jungkook rushing to the bedroom.
Hoseok watched him enter the room exclaiming about the mess as he disappeared inside.
“Welp I think I’ll be going, still on for dinner this weekend?” Hoseok asked Namjoon who was watching him suspiciously.
“Yes, of course.” Namjoon narrowed his eyes. “What was that?”
Hoseok shrugged into his jacket, stalling a little. “What was what?”
“That look and exchange of ‘I hope so’?” It was Jin who responded this time. “Hoseok I know I just met you, but I’ve known Kookie since he was ten, this one-night stand stuff isn’t him and if you’re interested in him, great! But please remember, he has a daughter. A wonderful one at that, and I don’t want to see him hurt nor Hyerin.”
Namjoon grimaced. “I have to agree. We go way back and I know how you get Hobi. If all you’re interested in is a fuck buddy. Please find someone else.”
Hoseok looked from Namjoon to Jin then back toward the bedroom Jungkook was in. “Can I at least take him on a date?”
Jin and Namjoon shared a look before nodding.
Hoseok gave a thumbs up before telling them bye.
“We need to keep an eye on them,” Jin said.
Namjoon agreed wrapping an arm around Jin’s waist. “Now let’s go make sure Hyerin hasn’t accidentally killed Jungkook then take a nap.”
Jin squeezed him as they walked down to Hyerin’s bedroom which was nicknamed the war zone. Both had to laugh when they entered and saw Jungkook sulking as he was getting his nails painted a bright pink.
“I think they’re good.” Namjoon declared slowly closing the door, then chased a giggling Jin into their bedroom.
--------- ------------- ---------
The weekend brought new friends together as they sat around the table of the restaurant but only one person was missing.
“So,” Hoseok said after introductions were made and they got into conversation. “Where’s Jungkook?” He pointed the question toward Namjoon.
“Hyerin is giving him trouble. The babysitter we use when one of us can’t watch her is sick and now Hyerin is fighting him on what to wear. She might be cute but she’s as hard-headed as her father.” Namjoon chuckled looking down at his phone. “They’re on their way now.”
Hoseok nodded. He wouldn’t lie and say Jungkook hasn’t been on his mind since that night. He was intrigued by Jungkook and couldn’t get him out of his head, but what surprised him more was Hyerin. She was an adorable girl and he would usually shy away from relationships involving a kid, but the father/daughter duo made him want to stay and get to know them. He was determined to ask Jungkook out after this dinner but he wasn’t sure if he should do it in front of a child.
Speaking of said child. Hyerin was bulleting to their table, Jungkook right behind her as she jumped into Taehyung’s arms.
“TaeTae!” Hyerin giggled at the kisses she was being attacked with by Taehyung and Jimin. Yoongi stood to the side watching in amusement.
“I’m sorry we’re late.” Jungkook slumped into a chair right next to Hoseok and dropped his head onto the table. “If you guys wouldn’t mind keeping her entertained I’d really appreciate it.”
Hoseok frowned. Jungkook sounded like he was exhausted. Jin patted Jungkook on the back, pulling the younger to lean against him.
“Kookie you really need to quit that job, at least till you graduate, you know Jackson will take you on, it’s running you ragged,” Namjoon said running a hand soothingly through Jungkook’s hair.
“I can’t. Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.” Jungkook lifted his head, smiling at his hyung’s.
“We do worry,” Jin muttered but dropped the issue.
Jungkook finally turned to Hoseok, smiling enough to get his nose to scrunch cutely. “Hi.”
Hoseok was done for, he’s never gotten butterflies in his stomach just from being looked at by someone he was interested in. He swallowed before replying. “Hi back.”
Jungkook smiled. “I hear from Namjoon that you are a photographer.”
“Sure am, why, interested in modeling?” Hoseok smirked. It was relieving to see the way amusement made Jungkook’s eyes look less tired.
“Nah, I’m more of behind the scenes. Now she would be very photogenic.” Jungkook pointed to Hyerin who looked to be in a deep conversation with her uncle Yoongi.
Hoseok raised a brow. “How old is she?”
“A whopping five years old though mentally about eight,” Jungkook smirked when Hyerin threw head back laughing at whatever Yoongi had said.
Hoseok was pretty impressed, the kids he’s had to deal with in the past when he babysat for the neighbors were messy little brats that didn’t know how to listen and only knew how to push his buttons. Hyerin seemed the complete opposite as she climbed down from Yoongi’s lap to head over to where they were sitting.
Jungkook held out his arms but Hyerin shook her head, instead stopped beside Hoseok’s chair and tilted her head in speculation. It unnerved him a little and he had to fight the urge to cover himself. He felt like she was looking into his soul.
“Can I ask you a few questions?” Hyerin asked as she tapped her foot waiting for his answer.
Hoseok glanced at Jungkook but saw him biting his lip to keep back a laugh. “Uh sure kiddo.” He thought she would go to sit on her dad’s lap but no, she patted his hand in a signal he took as up.
Hoseok lifted her surprisingly light frame setting her in his lap and raised his brows. “What did you want to ask me?”
“How do you know my uncles?” Hyerin crossed her arms.
Jungkook snorted shaking his head. He looked toward Hoseok to see if he should intervene but saw the patient expression and decided to see where this was going to go.
“Are we talking all of them or just one in particular?” Hoseok replied.
“All of them.” Hyerin proclaimed flatly like it was obvious. He had to hand it to the kid, she had attitude and wasn’t scared to use it.
“Well I know Namjoon from high school and just met everyone else tonight.” Hoseok watched her look over at Namjoon who was talking to Jin.
“But how do you know Appa? He said you were a friend but you were in his bed and that’s reserved for parents.” Hyerin raised an eyebrow, a pout on her lips.
“Jeon Hyerin we don’t talk like that, you don’t want three strikes,” Jungkook warned her, Hyerin huffed before apologizing.
“Uh, it’s okay.” Hoseok was desperately was trying to figure out how to answer the question without it being weird. “You’re dad and I met at a party and he offered me to stay over since it was late and the buses stopped running.”
Jungkook smiled at his description. “Now that’s enough questions you little squirt, come here.” He held out his arms waiting for Hyerin to jump from Hoseok to him.
“It’s really okay, I don’t think I’ve ever had a full on intelligent conversation with such a smart five-year-old.” Hoseok grinned at Hyerin which earned him a cute bunny smile in return.
Soon the meals were passed around and conversation slowed as everyone ate. Hyerin packed in enough for a small child army then tuckered out into a food coma now secured in Namjoon’s lap. Hoseok had to laugh, when she got older she had a bunch of uncles to go after anyone who breaks her heart.
“I think we should start doing this more often and it doesn’t even have to be at a restaurant. Just getting together and hanging out.” Jimin said, everyone voiced their agreement. “Especially since we have a new addition. How long will you be staying in Korea, Hoseok?”
“For good unless I need to travel for a job but this will be my main base for now on.”
Jimin clapped his small hands causing Taehyung to kiss his cheek from the cuteness. Once the bill was paid, everyone got up putting on jackets and making sure they had all their belongings. Jungkook woke Hyerin to get her jacket on, then held her while she dozed on his shoulder.
Jimin, Taehyung, and Yoongi waved bye as they made their way to the bus stop. Jin and Namjoon took Hyerin from Jungkook and waved bye to Hoseok letting Jungkook meander by the older.
“I’m sorry if Hyerin overstepped. She doesn’t have a filter and as you could see she isn’t shy. Scares the hell out of me cause she’ll just start randomly chatting with any stranger on the street despite being told of stranger danger.” Jungkook shook his head exasperated.
“No, it’s fine.” Hoseok rubbed the back of his neck. “Um, I was wondering if you wanted to maybe go out with me one day?”
Jungkook blinked, then chuckled. “Wow, was I really that good in bed?”
Hoseok couldn’t help the loud laugh that left him. “You weren’t too bad.” Jungkook rolled his eyes but let Hoseok continue. “But I’d like to get to know the guy underneath all that…” Hoseok whistled waving a hand down Jungkook’s body causing the younger to blush.
“I’d really like to, but.” Jungkook looked back toward the car that held his world. “I have a daughter, an apprentice job and college on top of all that, I don’t know if I would even have time to go out on a date and like I said, I have Hyerin.”
Hoseok nodded, tilting his head. “I’ll be honest and say I’ve never considered dating someone with a kid, but I like you and if you ever get time just know I’m interested.”
Jungkook searched the other’s eyes then smiled. “I’ll remember. Goodnight Hoseok.”
Hoseok watched the younger walk off, getting in the backseat after one final wave.
Sighing he turned on his heel hoping he’ll get a call in the near future.
-------------- ------------ -------------
A few months have passed since the dinner and everyone has held up the tradition. Unfortunately the dinners every other weekend, along with Hoseok came over to have drinks with Namjoon and Jin, were the only times they go to see each other. it was always the same though, Jungkook would come through the door with a sugar filled Hyerin (because of course, Taehyung) and get Hyerin her dinner before kissing her bye as he went out the door for his evening classes. Only a simple ‘hey,’ ‘how are you,’ were exchanged. Hoseok wouldn’t lie and say he actually missed Jungkook whenever he came and went out of his life.
Hyerin though became attached to Hoseok-oppa (Jungkook tried correcting her but once she makes up her mind it’s very hard to change it) and whenever they have the dinners Hyerin sometimes gets to come and will run to give her best new friend a giant hug which is always received with a big hug in return.
Hoseok didn’t know a child could get under his heart and just stick there. Hyerin was special and whenever Jungkook brought her to the dinners he was excited to see his little buddy. He was also excited to see Jungkook who looked tired as always but never failed to smile.
They were friends and if that’s all Hoseok was going to get for now then he’d take it. Texting and small visits were enough. He knew there was a shared attraction between them and was keen on waiting till Jungkook hopefully, fingers crossed, came around.
Coming around it seemed, came in the shape of babysitting.
Hoseok was packing up after a shoot which left his legs aching from squatting half the day and his neck hurt from aiming the camera skyward. All he wanted to do was head home, sort out the photos to send to the editor then take a long bubble bath with the new book he had picked up the other day and a glass wine. Very much like a suburban housewife, sue him.
He slung his camera bag onto his shoulder and was about to head out when his phone rang showing it was Jungkook. He smiled as he answered. “Hello, handsome.”
Jungkook chuckled, then yelled over the receiver to Hyerin. “Jump on the couch one more time and see what happens- Sorry, hey, um are you busy?”
Hoseok looked around the shoot and wondered how far that bath he wanted was running from him now. “No, just got done with a shoot actually. Why?”
“I wouldn’t ask this if I wasn’t really desperate but I got called into the dance studio to take over my mentors class cause he came down with a cold and I have no one to watch Hyerin. Her back up babysitter is out of town and believe it or not but all her uncles are either out on a date or at work. I hate to bother you but I really need someone to watch her?”
Hoseok kissed his bath goodbye for another day and told Jungkook he’d be there in no time. Once they hung up he jumped into his car and drove to Jungkook’s, hoping they had coffee cause he was going to need it.
Pulling up into the driveway he sees Hyerin and Jungkook kicking a soccer ball back and forth. Hyerin had on shin guards and soccer cleats and he wondered if she was going to start playing, or already did.
“Hey, can I join?” He asked as he shut his car door. Hyerin ditched her dad and ran over screaming Hobi oppa. It made his cheeks warm when she started calling him that and it made him feel special like he was rated higher then her uncles though he kept that to himself.
“Hey kiddo!” Hoseok swung her in the air when she jumped, then hugged her close. It had been a few weeks since he’d seen her.
“Hi Hobi, guess what?” She squished his cheeks causing him to chuckle.
“You found a mysterious rabbit and it granted you a wish?”
Hyerin giggled shaking her head. “No funny bone, I’m going to be playing soccer starting next week.”
Hoseok looks over at Jungkook to see him juggling the ball then toss it to catch in his hands as he walks over smiling at the two. “When’s her first game?”
“I’m not sure yet, they’re going to have a practice next week then hand out the schedules. I’ll let you know.” Jungkook took Hyerin and gave her a few kisses. “I got to go. I’ll be home hopefully to tuck you in.”
Hyerin pouted but gave her Appa a hug before being set down.
“On the fridge is a paper with all the phone numbers you need, if something does happen and I don’t answer my phone, call one of the others it doesn’t matter who, then call the studio and ask for me.” Jungkook had his parenting voice on, his eyes intense and Hoseok might be older but he felt very insecure under that gaze. Hyerin wasn’t leaving his sight.
“I got it, this isn’t my first time babysitting. Everything will be fine. We’re going to have fun, right Rin?” Hoseok looked down at Hyerin and winked.
“Yep yep, I’ll be fine Appa. I’m going to show Hobi-oppa my toys and I have all my colors and board games ready to go.” Hyerin grins, Hoseok sees cute but Jungkook knows his daughter and he saw the mischief in her eyes.
He bends down putting his forehead to hers. “You give Hoseok trouble, then it will be next season for soccer, understand.”
Hyerin huffs. “Yes Appa.”
“Good. love you.” He kissed her cheek, then waved to Hoseok yelling bye as he runs to Jin’s car he was being lent.
Once Jungkook was gone, the sun was starting to lower and he looked around the yard before shivering as a cold wind picked up. “What do you say we go inside and look for something to cook for dinner?”
Hyerin nodded picking up the ball and followed Hoseok inside. She ran off to stow her shoes and shin guards into her bag and then came back to see Hoseok fiddling through the fridge. “Can we have hamburgers?”
“I don’t see why not. Can you show me where all the things I’ll need are.” Hoseok pulls out some meat and starts to make dinner.
Hyerin he was starting to find out ran on all cylinders. She never once took a break but had to be constantly moving whether that be moving her mouth and talking up a storm or her body as she danced around the room or ran as they played hide and seek.
They were playing twister, Hoseok spinning the spinner while he laughed as Hyerin tried to stretch her little limbs to reach their rightful place on the colorful dotted mat. He just got Hyerin to lose her balance when there was a knock on the door. Hyerin and Hoseok looked at each other before she jumped up to hide behind the couch, stage whispering ‘It could be the men in black coming to take the alien away that lives in my closet.’
Hoseok blinked before jumping up to answer the door. The man on the other side wore a suit and looked to be in his mid fifties, carrying a thick envelope.
He wondered if Hyerin wasn’t joking about the men in black comment.
“Can I help you?” Hoseok said kindly though his insides were screaming at him to shut the door.
“Yes, I’m looking for Jeon Jungkook?” The man had a low voice that sent goosebumps over Hoseok’s skin. He didn’t like this man.
“I’m sorry, he’s at work at the moment. Can I ask what you need him for?”
“No. Just tell Jungkook that the Jeon’s are trying to get in touch with him, and please give him this.” The man handed over the envelope than turned on his heel leaving the porch.
Hoseok watched after him, frown on his face before a tug to the back of his shirt made him turn around. Hyerin raised her small brows, looking up at him in confusion. “Who was that?”
“I’m not sure sweetheart.” Hoseok closed the front door before scooping up Hyerin taking her to the bathroom. “I think it’s time to get cleaned up and ready for bed, what do you think?”
Hyerin nodded, crawling out of his arms to run to the bathroom. Once she was clean and had her jammies on, Hyerin started to get a little antsy.
“Hyerin, can you tell me what’s wrong?” Hoseok sat next to her, gently running a hand through her hair.
“I just miss Appa.” Hyerin pouted, crawling onto Hoseok’s lap and burying her head in his chest. He wrapped his arms around her little frame, singing under his breath.
Hyerin had nodded off, and Hoseok wasn’t far behind when the front door opened jolting him awake, which in turn jerked Hyerin as she let out whine, tightening her hold on Hoseok.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” Jungkook kicked off his shoes, while he hung his hoodie on the hook by the door.
“Appa?” Hyerin raises her head, opening her eyes to see Jungkook come and pick her up.
“Hey ladybug. I’m guessing since the house is still standing everything went well.” Jungkook grinned when Hyerin scoffed sleepily.
“I was very good Appa.”
“I’m glad, sweetheart. Now lets tuck you into bed.” Jungkook rocked her from side to side, turning his attention to Hoseok who was still sitting on the couch looking half asleep. “I’ll be right back.”
Hoseok nodded than let out the yawn he was holding back as Jungkook took Hyerin to her room. Once the younger came back, Hoseok was holding the envelope in his hands and was checking his phone.
“What’s that?” Jungkook slumped on the couch, resting his head on the back.
“A guy came by, looked like a lawyer and was asking for you. Said that the Jeons were trying to get into contact with you.” Hoseok raised a brow at the anger that took over Jungkook’s face as he ripped open the envelope to pull out a bundle of papers.
Hoseok decided to sit next to him and saw that the papers looked to be some kind of legal thing. He wondered if someone was trying to give Jungkook trouble.
“Son of a bitch.” Jungkook swallowed, his hands starting to shake.
Hoseok leaned back at the malice in Jungkook’s voice. “What’s going on?”
“My parents.” he said flatly, he threw the papers onto the coffee table, running his hands over his face.
“May I?” Hoseok pointed to the papers.
Jungkook waved a hand, looking off into the corner of the room.
Grabbing the papers, Hoseok read that Jeon Jinsun and Soojung were requesting custody for Hyerin. There was a letter under all the legal papers.
Don’t fight us Jungkook. We need an heir for the business and since you are not willing to be in that position, the girl is the only one that can take the position when she gets older. She is the last Jeon able to take over. Fight us on this, and we will use extreme measures.
Don’t make us use extreme measures Jungkook. You won’t win this fight.
The Jeons.
Hoseok read over the letter one more time, before dropping it onto the coffee table like it was a disgusting bug. He looked over at Jungkook to see him hunched over with his head in his hands.
“Hey, they can’t take her. You’re a wonderful father and any court would be stupid to give over custody to them. Especially by that letter. It wasn’t very smart to include it, honestly.” Hoseok ran a hand over Jungkook’s back, trying to comfort the younger.
“You don’t know them, they’ll try anything to get Hyerin. I can’t believe this, five years of no contact and they want to do this.” Jungkook laid a hand on his stomach, his hands were trembling. “I feel like I’m going to be sick.”
Hoseok didn’t know what to say. So he did the only thing he knew how to do. He cuddled. He wrapped an arm around Jungkook’s shoulder, pulling the younger closer.
Jungkook was like a cat curling up and burying his head in Hoseok’s shoulder. He let out a shuddering breath, his mind going in a thousand different directions.
He couldn’t lose Hyerin, she was his world. He was there for her first words, her first steps, the first time she rode her bike, he was there for every first and if they took her from him. If he somehow lost Hyerin… he didn’t want to think about it, he’d die. He wouldn’t be able to live life without his daughter.
He didn’t know his breathing had picked up till he felt Hoseok’s arms tighten around him and shushing in his ear. “It’s going to be okay, you know all of us aren’t going to let anyone take her. She’s safe with us.” He didn’t know that for a fact but he did know that he would do anything in his power to keep Hyerin and Jungkook together.
He kissed the top of Jungkook’s head as the younger’s breathing slowly returned to normal, a smile ghosting his across his lips. “Thank you.”
Hoseok blushed a little, biting his lip. God he was so whipped.
“Hyung?” Jungkook whispered laying his head on Hoseok’s shoulder. “Jin and Namjoon went on a spa weekend for their anniversary and I really don’t feel like being alone...” He trailed off looking down at his fingers, unsure if he should even ask Hoseok what he wanted.
“Do you want me to stay?”
Jungkook nodded his head shyly, like a little kid and it made Hoseok smile at how cute he was. “Okay, it’s not like I haven’t slept over before.”
He laughed at Jungkook’s blush, the smack to his shoulder. Hoseok took his hand, leading him to the bedroom. Hoseok always had a heart that liked to give. He liked taking care of people or things. Even if he got his heart broken in the process, he couldn’t keep himself from helping others. Or being slightly used to give Jungkook outlet on his thoughts.
Hoseok sat Jungkook down on the bed and was about to hunt down some sweats and a t-shirt but fingers wrapped around his wrist stopping him from moving. He looked down, and his breath hitched at the look in Jungkook’s eyes.
“Hyung.” It was just a mumble spoken, but the meaning alone was like a hit to the gut. Hoseok swallowed, stepping closer, running a hand through Jungkook’s black hair and let the younger rest his head on his stomach.
“What do you want, Kookie?” Hoseok spoke, his mouth close to Jungkook’s head.
Jungkook’s hands shook as he grasped Hoseok’s hips, fitting his fingers in the belt loops. His head was filled with to many thoughts blasting through his brain, being shaken repeatedly until a headache was forming.
He wanted Hoseok. He knew he’d come to regret his next words, but he needed something to take his mind off of the sudden revelation that he could possibly lose Hyerin. And if he lost Hoseok because of this then he deserved it.
“You… please.”
Hoseok smiled softly, pulling away. He took Jungkook’s cheeks into his palms, and bent down to kiss him, keeping it light and sweet. But apparently Jungkook didn’t want sweet as he nipped Hoseok’s bottom lip, and grasped the older’s hair between his fingers and gripped firmly, pulling Hoseok to the bed.
Soon clothes were tossed aside, and Hoseok had Jungkook writhing underneath him, starting to come undone at the seams. He clutched the sheets, sweat beading his brow. Jungkook was being taken apart bit by bit with nimble fingers that knew what they were doing.
Hoseok was three fingers deep when Jungkook started to beg, hands grasping at slick skin, all thoughts but Hoseok being wiped clean.
“Hobi… please…” Jungkook was too far gone to care that he had whined, felt like his body was fire, and wanted nothing more than to be sated with the feeling of being filled and wrecked by Hoseok’s hip, hands and mouth.
“Okay, okay. Try relaxing baby.” Hoseok hurriedly put on the condom and lined himself up.
It was like a sensory overload when he felt something other then fingers, and tried relaxing his body. The slight burn was welcome, Hoseok entering slowly causing a choked moan to break from Jungkook and grip onto the older’s hands, intertwining their fingers and laying them by Jungkook’s head.
“Move Hoseokie… ah… please.” Jungkook gritted out, squeezing Hoseok’s hands hard.
Hoseok grinned, leaning down to steal a peck from the younger before slowly moving out, too quickly thrust back in. Jungkook’s muffled shout like music to his ears. The pace picked up when Jungkook wrapped his legs around Hoseok’s waist and brought the older down murmuring against his mouth.
The sound of soft moans and pants filled the room. Making sure to keep quiet. Jungkook let go one of Hoseok’s hands, and threaded it into dark hair, causing Hoseok to change position. The thrusts turned sharper, harder and Jungkook tilted his head back, his whole body tensing as mind numbing pleasure when Hoseok hit his prostate over and over.
Kisses rained down on his neck, the light touches and the hard pounding he was getting doing a number on his senses. He felt fantastic and also so, so hard. He was being wrung dry on a string, getting pulled more taunt till he felt like he was about to snap.
“Hyung… I’m, fuck, close.” Jungkook whined, his voice hoarse and so seductive to Hoseok’s ears, it sent a shiver down his spine where he was bound to have scratch marks from how hard Jungkook held on to him.
Without responding, he picked up his pace, his thrusts becoming erratic till he had Jungkook moving up the bed. Hoseok’s hand slid up Jungkook’s chest to softly circle his throat, no pressure, they weren’t at that stage yet. But the hint of strength, of feeling like he was being dominated had Jungkook’s eyes roll into the back of his head.
The blissed out expression taking over Jungkook’s features as he got closer to the edge was pushing Hoseok to the brink. He removed his hand after a light squeeze and leaned down onto his elbows, the new angle had both of them keening as Hoseok kissed a path to Jungkook’s ear.
“Come for me, handsome. I want to see you.” Hoseok mumbled and watched in fascination as a particular hard thrust, mixed with the words had Jungkook coming hard, his back arched off the bed and head thrown back as a silent scream escaped.
It wasn’t long before Hoseok followed, burying his face in Jungkook’s neck, the youngers name leaving his lips.
They both kept still the only movement was Hoseok pulling out and discarding the condom into the trash before he laid right back over Jungkook who had yet to open his eyes and kissed his chin. The doe eyes he started to fall in love with opened, and he grinned pecking a kiss on Jungkook’s lips.
“We need to get cleaned up.” Jungkook said, he was about to get up but a hand on his chest made him stay.
“Yeah we do, stay here.” Hoseok jumped up, flinging on his boxer briefs and made his way to the bathroom to get a damp warm cloth then came back to clean down Jungkook, then himself. He grabbed some sweats for Jungkook and himself, raising his brows for permission. Jungkook nodded and held out his hand for the sweats.
Once both were dressed and back under the covers, Jungkook hesitantly reached over and laid his head on Hoseok’s chest, nuzzling his nose in the delicate collarbone.
“Why don’t you try to sleep, Jungkookie.” Hoseok whispered into Jungkook’s hair and got a nod in reply.
“Hyung, I’m-”
“Shush Jungkook, I regret nothing.” Hoseok kissed the top of the youngers head.
Jungkook bit his lip but kept quiet till he drifted off to sleep with the feeling of strong arms surrounding him.
--------- -------- --------
The next morning came with the soft sounds of rain and Jungkook thanking god it was Saturday. He rolled onto his back, rubbing a hand through his hair when he noticed eyes on him. He turned and saw Hoseok blink awake.
“Morning.” Hoseok yawned, trailing lazy fingers over Jungkook’s stomach where his hand had been laying.
“Morning Hobi.” Jungkook bit his lip, then turned on to his side to face Hoseok.
“Can I be honest about something?” Jungkook said.
Hoseok nodded and waited for him to continue.
“I feel like I just used you.” Jungkook sat up, but grasped onto Hoseok’s hand and played with the delicate fingers. “I like you Hobi, I do. I just don’t want to become a burden to you with everything going on.” he laughed bitterly eyeing his bedroom door where just outside in the living room the envelope sat. “Now this shit with my parents. Do you really want to get involved with all that?”
Hoseok had sat up, leaning against the headboard and clutched at Jungkook’s fingers, bringing them to his lips. “Yesterday when you called I had just finished a tiring shoot, was planning on going home and lighting some candles and starting a new book while I relaxed aching muscles in the tub.” Hoseok ignored Jungkook’s snort and continued. “But instead I get this call and I wave my bath goodbye so I could help this amazing guy by watching his just as amazing daughter. I was exhausted but I wouldn’t have changed anything. So if that doesn’t tell you how I feel, I don’t know how else to explain it.”
Jungkook was quiet, looking in Hoseok’s eyes and all he saw was pure affection. He swallowed, moving to straddle Hoseok and place a tender kiss against the older’s lips.
“I’m not going anywhere, unless I get a job that takes me away for a few weeks or months then it’s skype, but other then that, I’m not going anywhere.” Hoseok grinned.
Jungkook laughed, wrapping his arms around Hoseok’s neck, as Hobi trailed his hands down the younger’s back and was about to dip into the waistband of his sweats but a small knock along with the door opening had them pulling apart.
When Hyerin entered, she froze looking from her Appa to Hoseok then grinned jumping onto the bed. “Good morning, Hobi!”
“Morning sunshine.” Hoseok smiled, moving some of her hair out of her eyes.
“What about me?” Jungkook raised his hands, eyes wide.
Hyerin giggled. “Good morning Appa. Can we have waffles?”
“Of course. I need to make a quick phone call to uncle Jin, then we can make waffles.” Jungkook ruffled her hair earning him pout.
“Hey kiddo, why don’t we let Appa make his call and we can start on breakfast?” Hoseok got out of bed, then scooped a giggling Hyerin off the bed, setting her down as he picked up his shirt. “I’ll meet you in the kitchen.”
Hyerin nodded, then scampered out while Hoseok threw on his shirt. He turned to Jungkook who watched him with soft eyes.
Hoseok leaned down capturing Jungkook’s mouth with his. “Make your call, we’ll be fine.”
“Thank you, Hobi.” Jungkook pecked Hoseok one more time before reaching for his phone, he watched the older walk out of the room calling for Hyerin.
Sighing, he dialled Jin’s number and waited for the elder to pick up.
-------- ------- -------
The following month has been the most bittersweet thing Jungkook has experienced. The sweetness was having Hoseok at the house more often than the his own apartment. Jungkook had told him that he could do his work at home where it was quieter and less crowded but Hoseok just flicked him on the forehead and told him if it became to much he’d just shut himself in Jungkook’s room or sit outside on the patio.
Jungkook would shake his head and watch as Hyerin ran into the room telling Hoseok about her day and that soccer practice had been so fun. He was still overloaded with work, with school and when midterms starting to show their ugly head he would never be able to thank his friends enough for watching over Hyerin as he studied. He had Jin and Namjoon taking her to the park, Yoongi sitting with her and teaching her the piano, Jimin showing her how to dance contemporary, Taehyung taking her to get ice cream or to the toy store where they both had a blast at. And Hoseok… Hoseok was blessing in disguise.
He had found one of his old cameras and was in the process of teaching her how to use it. When Jungkook was loaded down with school work or taking on extra time at the dance studio. Hoseok would keep Hyerin company when the others couldn’t. He would literally drop everything and be there when it sounded like Jungkook needed a break.
But now midterms were over, he had more free time to spend with Hyerin and Hoseok, and it would be starting this weekend. Hoseok was going to stay for the weekend and finally treat Jungkook to that date Friday then Hyerin had her final game of the season saturday.
Smiling at his mentor, he chugged his water as the door to the room opened entering the receptionist with a man following her that made Jungkook’s blood run cold.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Jungkook dropped his water bottle, glaring at his father that came into the room like he owned the place.
“Is that any way to greet your father?” Jinsun smirked, putting his hands in his pockets.
Jungkook laughed humorlessly. “You lost that title when you turned your back on me when I had...” Jungkook about said Hyerin, but he wasn’t letting the bastard know an inch of his daughter.
“Hyerin… was that you were going to say?” Jinsun chuckled. “Now I know for a fact you’re not stupid, it’s not that hard to find out how my sons been spending his life. How’s that new boyfriend of youre’s.”
Jungkook paled. He felt like he was going to be sick.
The whole class watched their exchange, the fear of the man running through the room. Jackson, Jungkook’s mentor stepped up and stood between father and son.
“Excuse me, but we have a class running at the moment, Jungkook can talk to you when it’s over. Now could you please leave.”
“That won’t be necessary, I just have one thing to tell Jungkook.” Jinsun turned to Jungkook, coming closer till he was standing right in front of his son. “Drop the lawsuit Jungkook. Give over custody peacefully and we won’t take extreme measures.”
Jungkook shook his head, stepping back but not breaking eye contact. “Over my dead body will you lay a hand on Hyerin.” His voice low, fists clenched tight as Jinsun smirked.
“Suit yourself.” Jinsun walked out without another word, and the whole room was shrouded in quiet.
Jungkook’s chest heaved, a hand coming up to cover his mouth, as he slid down the wall. He didn’t notice how bad he was shaking, or the suffocating feeling in his chest. He wanted to find Hyerin and promptly leave the country, go into hiding. He was scared, he had hope that they would win the case, but he knew his parents. Knew they resented him for bailing, for going on with his life the way he wanted and ignoring everything they taught him.
He covered his face with his hands, and buried them in his knees, he felt so helpless, he didn’t know what he was going to do.
“I’m calling Hoseok.” Jackson said getting out Jungkook’s phone.
Jungkook nodded, eyes trained on the floor while he tried to keep back panic attack waiting to happen. He doesn’t know how long he sat there but when hands ran into his hair he lifted his head and saw Hoseok watching him with concern.
“Jackson told me what happened. Are you okay?”
Jungkook shook his head, letting Hoseok pull him to his feet and lead him to his car. Hoseok threw Jungkook’s bag in the back than got in driving home.
Soon he had Jungkook sitting on the couch with a mug of tea in his shaking hands. They sat in silence, Hoseok kept contact by either running his fingers through Jungkook’s hair or rubbing his back.
“What am I going to do. I don’t have the legal team my parents have, I can’t afford anything more… if they take her, I won’t ever see her again, they won’t let me have visitation.” Jungkook set the mug down, though he felt like throwing it, and curled into Hoseok’s arms. “I can’t lose her.”
“I wish I could help you more, I wish there was something I could do. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” Hoseok murmured in Jungkook’s hair as the younger shook in his arms, he wasn’t crying but Hoseok knew he was close.
The front door opened to bring in Jin and Hyerin. Jin took note of the scene and asked Hyerin to go put her toys away and to get out of her play clothes. Hyerin did as he asked but they all knew she could also tell something was wrong. She was a very perceptive child.
After telling Jin what happened, he quickly called the lawyer and relayed everything to him.
When Jungkook was finally settled a little better he engaged with Hyerin, spending time with her until it was time for bed where he tucked her in and stayed till she fell asleep.
He was almost asleep himself when a hand in his hair woke him up, he looked up to see Hoseok tugging on his hand. “Come to bed, Kookie?”
Jungkook nodded, following Hoseok to bed. There was nothing he could do tonight, so he closed his eyes and let Hoseok’s humming put him to sleep.
-------- -------- -------
The next day was Hyerin’s game. Jungkook got her ready, laughing as Hoseok took a bunch of pictures. Making sure to get Hyerin in all her uniform glory.
When they arrived the other three were already there waiting for them, Namjoon and Jin’s parents were there since this was her last game. Everyone got situated by the field, Yoongi passing out drinks from the cooler at his side.
Soon the game was in play and all of them were cheering on Hyerin’s team though most of it was just them running back and forth as the ball got kicked from every direction.
Taehyung and Jimin were Hyerin’s personal cheerleaders. They even had pompoms and were jumping up and down. Jungkook looked to Yoongi hoping he could settle his boyfriends, but when he saw the older cheering just as hard, he chuckled shaking his head.
Hoseok ever the photographer filled up a memory card of shots, and was about to change the memory card when hell rained down.
It was halftime, Hyerin was chugging her water, when the sound of multiple doors closing rang throughout the field. Jungkook raised his eyes and his blood ran cold. His mother and father were walking toward them, some men in suits behind them. He didn’t like how this was looking.
He pushed Hyerin behind himself, all of the guys finally sensed what was going on, and took up guard around Hyerin and Jungkook.
One of the men in the suits held out some paper, handing it to Jungkook. “You fight, you get arrested. Child protective services were called and evidence was found that Jeon Hyerin is not suitable to be in your care till the future court date where a judge will choose custody for Miss Jeon. Jeon Jinsun and Soojung will be taking over her care till future notice.” The man snapped his fingers and bodyguards stepped out ready to intervene.
Jungkook clutched the paper, looking it over and cursed under his breath. He has never, not once taken a drug. And it said that he had been seen in possession of cocain. Oh he was pissed.
“I have never done drugs, you can’t do this.” Jungkook gripped onto Hyerin’s arm, keeping her behind him.
“We have evidence and we can.” Soojung stepped up, standing in front of her son. “Don’t make a scene.” then she crouched and smiled at Hyerin who glared right at her. “Hello Hyerin, my name is Soojung, I’m your grandmother.”
Hyerin shook her head, pointing to Namjoon and Jin’s parents. “They’re my grandparents. I don’t know you.” She turned to Yoongi, slipping her hand into his as she gripped onto Jungkook. “Uncle Yoongi make them leave.”
Yoongi along with everyone else looked stricken. “I’m sorry sweetheart, I can’t.”
Hyerin pouted, turning back to Soojung, who spoke. “It’s a shame your father never told you about us-”
“He did, he told me that you didn’t love him or me. I don’t want to go with you.” Hyerin clenched her little fist, her ears turning red from anger. It made Jungkook proud to see her standing up for herself.
“I’m sorry, you don’t have a choice. Now come with me before you get your daddy in trouble.” Soojung went for Hyerin’s hand, but she screamed, pushing away the adults hand and latched onto Jungkook who picked her up and cradled her close.
“Let this go. She doesn’t want to go with you, and I don’t feel like getting arrested, so go away and leave us alone.” Jungkook snapped, holding onto Hyerin like she was already being pulled away from him.
Soojung sighed. And looked over her shoulder nodding her head.
Everything felt like it happened slow motion. A strong ass woman came over and grabbed Hyerin from Jungkook, who in turn yelled at the woman to let her go. Men surrounded Jungkook, grasping onto his arms and soon he was being slammed down onto the ground as Hyerin cried and fought the woman scratching at her and kicking.
He struggled, but it was no use, he saw from the corner of his eye Hoseok and Yoongi were on the ground as well, seeming to have lept into action just like Jungkook.
“Alright, alright. Just stop, okay, you can take her!” Jungkook yelled and soon he was being lifted to his feet along with Yoongi and Hoseok. “I’ll settle her down, please, just let me say goodbye.”
Soojung looked at him, than nodded. Hyerin was still struggling but Jungkook took her from the woman’s arms, and whispered in her ear. “It’s okay, I need you to do me a favor, okay?” Smoothing her sweaty hair from her face, he waited for her to nod.
“I need you to go with my parents, I promise that you won’t be there long, I’ll have you back in no time. But for right now, I need you to hold up that head of yours and go with them.” Jungkook sucked in a breath, smiling at his little girl, then hugged her tight “I love you so much ladybug. I promise I’ll get you back.”
Hyerin was crying, but she nodded her head. She turned her attention to Soojung. “Can I say goodbye to my uncles?”
Soojung nodded, and Jungkook let Hyerin down and watched her run to give each of her uncles a big hug. Jimin and Taehyung were full on crying, Jin was holding it in, Yoongi and Namjoon were looking like they were ready to murder but still gave their I love you’s to Hyerin.
Lastly was Hoseok. “Hobi-Oppa. I love you.”
“I love you, too, sweetheart.” Hoseok hugged Hyerin close walking over to Jungkook. He kissed her head then handed her over to Soojung who nodded her goodbye and walked away with Jungkook’s world.
When the cars were gone and the whole field was silent. Jungkook felt his knees buckle, his chest cave in, and his whole being crumble to ground. He couldn’t hold back the tears or the cry that broke every heart around them as he buried his head in Hoseok’s chest.
-------- -------- --------
The next few nights were filled with phone calls to lawyers and trying to get the evidence found as fake. Jungkook kept insisting that he had never taken a drug in his life, had taken a drug test, had his house searched from top to bottom and was found with nothing.
Their lawyers talked to anyone that had met Jungkook and Hyerin and got flying colors, saying he was a gentleman and loved his little girl. They had every ounce of evidence that showed he was a loving father, that he had raised Hyerin himself. The only thing left for them to do was wait for a court date and hope the judge was on their side and not being bought by Jungkook’s parents.
The days dragged on and it was like a light was missing, Jungkook was let off work till everything was solved, so while his friends were busy, he would sit in Hyerin’s room and watch his phone like a hawk. He was having Hyerin withdraws and he hated the emptiness in his gut. God if this how he felt, he was never letting her leave for college.
Three weeks had gone by, Hoseok coming home to find Jungkook pacing the living room as he talked on the phone. He was nodding, making affirmative noises till he hung up and ran to Hoseok wrapping him in a hug.
“Court date next week, I’ll get to see Hyerin and the lawyers say it looks like it’s going to be in my favor… I am fucking scared.” Jungkook buried his head in the curve of Hoseok’s neck, shaking with nerves.
“You’ll get her back, we’ll get her back.” Hoseok pulled away, taking Jungkook’s face in his hands, he kissed him, pulling him to the bedroom. With a court date finally settled, he was hoping he could get Jungkook to sleep for a while.
“I love you, Hobi.” Jungkook rested his head on Hoseok’s chest, his boyfriends fingers running through his hair. “And thank you.”
Hoseok smiled, leaning down to kiss the top of his lover’s head. “I love you, too. What are you thanking me for?”
“For loving me, loving Hyerin, everything. Just thank you.”
Hoseok nodded, choked up a little and just held tighter to Jungkook, hoping they everything will be okay, that they’ll have Hyerin back in their arms and can finally start being a family.
The next week was tense and cold. The others making plans to take off for the court date, and the day before Jungkook was going over dress shirts Jin had impulsively bought him when he got a call. Seeing it was some random number he cautiously answered.
“Hello?” He said suspiciously. Hoseok on the bed with his head buried in his laptop looked up with concern.
“Hi son, I wouldn’t be calling but there seems to be a problem.” Soojung spoke, her voice strained and sharp.
“What?” Jungkook dropped the shirt and latched onto Hoseok’s outstretched hand.
“It seems Hyerin has run off.” Soojung said plainly.
Jungkook blinked, before seeing red.
“What the hell! What do you mean she ran off!?” Jungkook ran to the living room, Jin and Namjoon jumping when they watched an irate Jungkook open the coat closet to pull out Hyerin’s small hoodie then turned to his friends, and boyfriend.
“Like I said, she ran off. She was there one second then she was gone. You have raised a little hellion brat Jungkook. She doesn’t sit still or listens.”
Jungkook growled, scaring the hell out of the others. “Don’t call my daughter a brat, she’s five, she’s supposed to run around and have energy. Listen, I’m on my way, and don’t think about keeping me away, fuck the court date, fuck the police I don’t give a damn anymore, I’m going to find Hyerin and she is coming home with me, I’ve had enough. So either back off or as you say suffer the consequences of a pissed off father.” Jungkook hung up on his mother, and hollered for the others to follow, and to call the other three to meet them at his parents.
Jin was on the phone with the lawyers as they got in the car, while Namjoon rang up Yoongi to get them to meet at the location Jungkook gave.
Jungkook drove keeping an eye out for a small mob of black hair, when he saw nothing he sighed, pulling into his parents driveway, Yoongi along with Taehyung and Jimin arrived right after.
Jungkook jumped out running to the door. He clutched Hoseok’s hand as he led his small group to the front, and walked right in instantly spotting his father by the stairs, who turned at their entrance raising a brow.
“Oh look, it’s the gay squad. I see your mother contacted you.” Jinsun sighed, crossing his arms.
“I could punch you for that comment alone, but losing my daughter, you are lucky I’m not calling the police for negligence.” Jungkook spat out in his father’s face.
Hoseok laid a hand on the back of his neck, and squeezed hoping to calm down Jungkook. It seemed to work as his boyfriend backed off, leaning back into Hoseok a little. Jinsun sneered but hollered for Soojung.
When she entered the room, she held a piece of paper in her hand, giving it to Jungkook. “I will say, I’m impressed she got every word right. She is a smart little girl.”
Jungkook ignored her and looked down at the piece of paper. He had to chuckle a little at his daughter’s wording.
I am running away, you will not be able to find me, I am going to find my Appa and Hobi Oppa and there is nothing you can do about it. I want to go home and since you won’t let me I’m going by myself. So hah, hope to never ever see you again… Jeon Hyerin.
Jungkook heard Yoongi snort along with Hoseok. He shook his head, looking over the note for anything to tell him where his smart albeit small five year old had gone to.
“Where was the last place you saw her?” Jungkook asked, looking toward his mother.
“She was with the nanny in the kitchen when I heard the nanny yell that Hyerin was gone with the note left.”
Jungkook rolled his eyes. “Fucking fantastic, well did you at least call the police?” He asked ignoring his mothers scoff at his language, and aimed the question at his father.
“No, she ran off, she wasn’t taken. Plus there’s nothing the police can do that you’re friends or us can’t.” Jinsun shrugged, crossing his arms.
Jungkook blinked, bit his lip then turned his back on his parents and called the police, stating the situation. The voice on the other end told him to stay calm and patrols were notified and keeping an eye out for a five year old. Jungkook wanted to argue, that they needed to do more, but since she ran off on her own there was really nothing they could do. He hung up and looked over to his friends.
“Okay, Tae, Jimin will you go look around the few parks we take her to?” Jungkook watched Taehyung salute and rush out pulling Jimin with him. “Yoongi, go back to the house, and wait there, she might be able to find her way home.” Yoongi nods and pulls his phone out to call a cab. “Jin and Namjoon, go to the train station and the dance studio. Call Jackson and tell him to keep an eye out, please.”
“We’re on it, Jungkookie, don’t worry, we’ll find her.” Jin said, patting Jungkook’s shoulder, before jogging out with Namjoon.
Jungkook sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. Hoseok and him would stay here in case she came back.
A hand running down his back in a comforting gesture made him peek between his fingers. Hoseok smiled gently at him.
He didn’t care his parents were standing right there, he turned to Hoseok, burying his head in his boyfriends neck, and felt his arms come around to hold tightly. “I want her home.” Jungkook murmured.
“I know, sweetheart, I do, too.” Hoseok kissed his ear before pulling back.
Jungkook pulled out his phone, just watching it as they stood in tense silence with his parents. His eyes kept going from the clock on the wall, to checking his phone and then back again. Hoseok was a pacer and he was currently wearing a hole in the forrays carpet, biting his thumb nail and mumbling under his breath. Jungkook knew he was rapping some kind of song, but to his parents that kept glancing at the red head, he looked a little like he was possessed with worried eyes that were doing the same thing as Jungkook’s. Checking the clock, and checking the phone.
Jungkook was hoping Hyerin would walk right through that front door, her hair bouncing and laughing like she just heard the best joke of her life. He was trying not to think about his little girl out there by herself, without any of her uncles with her, how helpless she was if she talked to the wrong stranger.
“Why? Why did you have to do this?” Jungkook spoke to his parents, feeling on the verge of panic as the clock kept ticking away. “Was all this really necessary, did you really need an heir that bad or were you just doing this whole damn show to get back at me for disowning myself from this fucked up family? Cause if this is just to spite me, then you should have never had me, this is all bullshit and you know it. But no, you had to be the immature ones and mess with the most important thing in my life. God I don’t even know how I’m your child, I just don’t get it.” Jungkook mumbled the last part, shaking his head as he saw it’s been thirty minutes since they got there and there were still no signs of Hyerin.
His parents didn’t speak, just stared at him without emotion and that answered his question perfectly. He groaned, putting his hands to his eyes, he would not have a mental breakdown in front of his parents. He would not give them that satisfaction.
As he was taking deep breaths, Hoseok’s phone rang and they both jumped as he answered it quickly. It was Jin and he told him that they had found Hyerin at the park and were bringing her back.
Jungkook slumped onto the staircase, putting his head in between his knees. He was relieved but he still felt like he was going to be sick just from the adrenaline that left his body.
“We’ll see you when you get here.” Hoseok hung up, and ran a hand through Jungkook’s hair, sitting next to him and laid his forehead on the younger’s shoulder.
“I think I can do without this much worry for the rest of my life, what do you say, Kookie?” Hoseok said, his voice muffled.
All Jungkook did was nod, and they waited till the front door opened with Jin coming in with Namjoon carrying a crying Hyerin behind him.
Jungkook was up fast and taking Hyerin from Namjoon and holding her tight, burying his head in her hair and just breathing her in. She was safe and after three weeks finally in his arms.
He crouched, setting Hyerin on her feet and cupped her little face, wiping away her tears. “Jeon Hyerin, please explain to me why you like giving me heart attacks.” He smiled a little and had the joy to see her giggle, shaking her head as she wiped her nose.
“I wanted to go home and thought since dogs can find their home when they run away, maybe I could to. But then I got lost and found this park so I decided to wait there cause I knew either you or one of the uncles would find me. And Uncle Jin and Joonie found me.” Hyerin grinned then frowned at Jungkook. “I’m sorry for scaring you. But I wanted you and they wouldn’t call you or let me see you… I missed you, Appa.”
Jungkook took her back into a hug and kissed her on top of her head. “I did to, ladybug, I missed you very much.”
Pulling back, Jungkook stood and turned Hyerin to Hoseok who was blinking rapidly. He smirked at him. “I think someone wants to say hi.”
“Hobi-Oppa!” Hyerin ran to a crouching Hoseok and slammed into his arms throwing him on his butt. Hoseok laughed, squeezing her lightly till she tapped out playfully, then pecked him on the cheek.
“I missed you, squirt.” Hoseok said, then stood bringing Hyerin into his arms, like Jungkook, it seemed he didn’t want to let her go either.
Turning to his parents, Jungkook asked Hoseok to take Hyerin outside and call the police office and tell them they found Hyerin.
Hoseok hesitated unsure of leaving Jungkook with his parents in his pissed off state, but one look at Jin and Namjoon standing like bodyguards next to Jungkook made him breath a little easier. Nodding, he practically ran out the house, clinging tightly to Hyerin.
After the front door closed, Jungkook rounded on his parents. “Drop everything, the custody battle, the court date tomorrow, especially drop me from your life. I don’t want to ever see you again and if you ever come after my daughter again, I won’t sit back next time. Yoongi knows people, and I know people that can make your lives miserable without ever being detected, so if you want your shitty business to stay afloat and keep cashing in your fucking riches then stay away from my family.” He glared at his parents, for once seeing the uncertainty, the slight wariness coming into their features. “Stay away from me, my daughter, my boyfriend, my friends, just stay the hell away and we won’t have any problems. Understand?”
Without waiting for an answer, Jungkook turned and walked out with Jin and Namjoon on either side. Once outside, he kept walking till he was in the backseat of Jin’s car and clutched Hyerin to him.
“Never again, this will never happen again, I promise.” Jungkook whispered into her hair.
He pulled back buckling her in, then just leaned his head on her little one and kept his eyes closed through the whole drive home while comforting fingers grazed through his hair.
-------------- ------------
That night after a unsurprising call from their lawyers about everything being dropped. Jungkook made sure Hyerin was tucked into bed then went to his room finding Hoseok lying starfished on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Upon hearing Jungkook enter, he sat up holding out a hand to him and let Jungkook bury himself into Hoseok and just cry.
Cry from relief, the adrenaline that wore off, the three weeks he didn’t get to see Hyerin. He cried till he was exhausted and just leaned against Hoseok, not wanting to move. He felt so cleaned out and tired he could sleep for a week straight. The worry sliding off his shoulders eased the tension and he sighed, letting Hoseok lay him down in bed and tuck him in like he would Hyerin. It made him smile tiredly, but didn’t voice anything, he doesn’t think he could even get out of bed at this point.
“So today was eventful.” Hoseok commented. Jungkook chuckled, smacking a weak slap to his arm.
“You could say that, I’d rather go for more happy eventful days then stressful though.”
“I agree with you on that.” Hoseok bit his lip, his gaze flickering from the ceiling to Jungkook then back again in a nervous tick.
“What is it, Hobi?”
Hoseok fiddled with jungkook’s fingers, looking at him under his lashes. “I was thinking that maybe you and Hyerin could move in with me once everything settles down. My apartment is big enough, it’s close to everything, and I know Jin and Namjoon have been thinking about marriage and all tha-” Hoseok stopped when a hand covered his mouth.
Jungkook grinned, amusement in his eyes. “You’re really trying to convince me with all those selling points aren’t you?”
Hoseok rolled his eyes, taking the hand that covered his mouth, and nipped at Jungkook’s index finger softly. “I’m serious though, I love you and Hyerin and would really like it if you moved in with me.”
Jungkook sighed, sitting up against the headboard and played with Hoseok’s fingers. “I know you love us, but you coming over and spending the night is very different from living with a five year old. Yes Hyerin is pretty mature for her age but she still has her five year old tantrums and moments. Are you sure you’re ready to be a full on dad?”
“There’s nothing that would make me happier then being with you both and raising her together. You both are it for me and I don’t know if I’ll be able to live if you say no.” Hoseok gave him the puppy dog eyes, causing Jungkook snort.
“I’ll give you this much, I like the idea.” Hoseok grinned, but waited for Jungkook to get what he wanted to say out. “Let’s talk about it more tomorrow, I don’t know about you but I’m tired and really want to cuddle you till we fall asleep.”
“Okay. I love you, Kookie.” Hoseok said, getting under the covers to cuddle Jungkook close.
“Love you, too, Hobi.”
Jungkook was out in seconds but Hoseok reviewed the events of the day again, thankful everything worked out in their favor. If it wasn’t for Hyerin running away they’d be getting ready for a court date they weren’t sure they win.
Speaking of Hyerin, Hoseok lifted his head when he heard the bedroom door open, her small head peeking in.
“What’s up, sweetheart?” Hoseok sat up, running a hand through his hair, and watched in amusement as Hyerin looked toward the closet with a glare and ran like she was in race to the bed and hopped up in one big jump, landing on her tummy. Hoseok helped her the rest of the way up till she was in the middle of a passed out Jungkook and a smiling Hoseok.
“I woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep. Can I stay?” Hyerin hugged her pink stuffed bunny Cookie to her chest and widened her eyes to pout at Hoseok.
“Of course, here let’s get comfortable, just be careful not to wake up you’re dad, okay?”
Hyerin nodded, carefully getting under the covers. Hoseok bit his tongue when Hyerin placed her bunny next to Jungkook to cuddle with, then scooted a little closer and snuggled in next Hoseok.
Like his mother used to do, he gently played with Hyerin’s hair, watching her eyelids get heavy with sleep. He was getting close himself, but her voice made him open his eyes to look at her.
“Hobi, will you be my second dad?”
Hoseok froze, looking over Hyerin’s head to see big doe eyes shining with tears as Jungkook woke and grinned at him. Taking a stuttering breath, he looked back to Hyerin and smiled softly.
“I’d love to, Hyerin. So no more Hobi-Oppa?”
Hyerin shook her head. “No, just Papa if that’s okay?”
Hoseok was not going to cry, he was not going to cry, he would wait till he got up and took a shower, but he did grin, placing a noisy kiss on the top of her head. “I can live with that, squirt. Now, it’s time to go to sleep. Night Hyerin.”
“Night, Papa.”
Hyerin fell asleep, squished between two people that loved her like she was their entire world.
And she was, and always would be.
