He's had a promotion and a new job to get used to, he's been busy helping repair the Land of Amusements and the roads between the Four Realms, and he's been making more friends than he'd ever known a person could have.
He's not the cold solider stationed by the bridge anymore.

“Yes, thank you, I gathered as much,” Julian says.
“As such, there’s no reason for me to keep this,” Doctor Zimmerman says, and produces a datarod. “Character interviews; completely worthless now. You might as well have them.”
Julian blinks, thrown off balance. “Thank you?” he tries, taking the datarod.
Zimmerman just shrugs. “There’s nothing to thank me for,” he says. “They’re simply of no use to me.” And without another word, he continues onto his transport.

Of course he's going to look - and in so doing, he discovers an interview he wasn't expecting: one Elim Garak. The only thing even more surprising is what Garak has to say.

Summary
There are a number of conflicting theories, among various and sundry members of the Dalton family tree, on how exactly the young blonde man they have concluded has to be Jack’s kid came to be. Seeing as he can’t have just sprung forth unto the earth fully formed, there has to be an explanation, and since nobody met him until he was out of high school, the explanation has to be something good.
(or, the one where jack finds out after five years of bringing mac to family reunions that his family thinks he has a son)

There’s not always an audience to perform for," and at the time he’d laughed it off, of course, rolled his eyes, What a groundbreaking observation, a comedian seeking validation, but sometimes when he’s alone it creeps up on him: Are you performing right now? Who are you performing for? Are you performing right now?
“I go to therapy now,” he blurts out.
Eddie looks up from his phone, clearly surprised.
“Oh.” He nods, blurry in the corner of Richie's eye. “Me too.”
“Dope,” Richie says, popping the p hard. The conversation halts.
