Mulder sounds close. Spencer stops in his tracks, tensing.
He’d started to pace for his small ramble, not really noticing. Just something for his body to do while his mind goes elsewhere. But somewhere between the light switch and the desk, Mulder had found a way to sneak up behind Spencer, talk to him with the lilt of a vampire from an old Hollywood movie.
Spencer sucks in a breath. He turns and finds himself stuck between the wall and his new coworker, tabloids and posters wrinkling against his back.
“Do you believe,” asks Mulder, slow and calculated and awfully intense, “in the existence of extraterrestrials?”

“What’s wrong with me?” Grace manages, the words squeezed out through the tightness in his throat. “We just got attacked by the people who want both of us locked in a bunker, I nearly crushed everyone by accident, YOU made people BLEED FROM THEIR EYES, it’s finally hit me that I’m never going to get my old life back and now you're offering me a potato chip?”
Simon just looks at him, holding out the bag of chips in question. “Well do you fucking want one or not?”

Simon doesn't know why he asks. No, it's not okay. None of this is okay.

Simon closes his eyes. It's his own type of silent defiance. If this man isn't just fucking with him – if he does, for some strange reason, feel bad or guilty about capturing him, then good. Let him drown in it.

“Just hold on!” Grace propelled himself through zero gravity, away from the radio.

Summary
It was hard to gander how long Grace was on Erid when Simon came along. He could try measuring it out using the Earth’s Gregorian calendar like he did on the Hail Mary, but that’s when he still had a “lights out” timer and didn’t live on a planet with a very different yearly calendar. Teaching little eridians has forced him to adapt to their schedule more than his.
Where was he going with this?
Right! Simon.
He still hadn’t met him yet.
Or Rocky and other eridians find a wormhole and then an injured human man! They bring him to Erid and quarantine him to get him nice and healthy, but slowly find out he’s much different than their beloved science teacher.
