Summary
Hob vows to remember every single face, every queer couple he served tea to, because he never wants their memory to fade away. Their families have buried them, forced them into loveless marriages, but Hob will always know them as who they were when they walked into his front door asking for a picture.
He remembers Arthur’s snort laugh every time John would try to crack a joke. He remembers holding Mary as she sobbed to him about the engagement her parents forced her into after finding out about her and Jade. He remembers Fitzwilliam, who seemed to know that he was loved by Hob, but wasn’t really the one he loved. Not wholeheartedly.
He remembers, because if he doesn’t, who will?
Hob's favorite invention is the camera and the subjects of his photographs remind him what love is supposed to be.

Summary
“I propose that I can bring you to the height of physical pleasure without initiating sexual intercourse,” Dream says, and there it is. The tender, slightly aching feeling that blooms in Hob’s chest whenever he thinks too hard about where Dream spent the last hundred-odd years, smothered immediately by the sheer poncy smugness in his voice.

Summary
The manner in which an animal routinely casts off a part of its body (often, but not always, an outer layer or covering), either at specific times of the year, or at specific points in its life cycle.
The door swings open, and Hob looks up, as automatic as a blink or a breath. He’s not expecting anything. It’s been three months and four days, six hours and thirty-nine minutes, and all he had been told was more than once a century.
Dream is standing in the doorway.
He looks like hell.

Summary
Hob’s not quite sure what he expected, but… probably something like the Eclipse of 1999, the one he spent in a traffic jam somewhere in northern France, and rolled down his windows and heard the birds go quiet and the temperature drop a few degrees.
Or, Hob Gadling meets the man of his dreams.
